This was a great experience. Ari and his team helped us plan, design, and prepare for the project. The work was high quality. The team was discrete and professional. When issues were encountered, Ari explained the options and select a course of action. The work was competed two years ago, and we are extremely satisfied with this investment in hour house. The kitchen is wonderful, and the two bathroom are working great. This company is outstanding and highly recommended. We will use them again.
Ari brings a high level of abilities to the table in how he approaches a job, able to think things through and suggest solutions to the many unique-situation challenges that always come up in such work (his co-worker also had a knack for coming up with good solutions to thorny problems). Besides being a general contractor, Ari is also personally a licensed plumber and electrician, so he can do all the needed work himself without having to rely on someone else. For example, he met our need to fit a full-sized wastebasket under the sink despite a new, large septic-friendly garbage disposal and did a very elegant arrangement of the pipes to make that work, something I had not thought could be done. He also worked out the positioning for the downdraft vent piping in the floor that allowed for a much more efficient island cabinet configuration than we had originally thought.
No matter what aspect you want to talk about--drywall installation, oak floor-board matching and replacement, electrical wiring, appliance installation, under-cabinet lights and plugs, you name it--we always had complete confidence it would be done with great care, and Ari and his team delivered. Even though Ari of course knew much more about such a project than I did, he was always open to my ideas and was perfectly willing to take a new approach if something I suggested made sense. He was also polite in resisting if a suggestion was not the best idea, and he made a point of explaining why.
In addition, Ari was patient when there were delays outside of his control. The repeated 3rd-party supply of certain end panels of the wrong size stretched out his work by several weeks and forced him to do some things twice just to keep the work flow going, but he never complained.
To be balanced in any very positive review one always seems obligated to point out some shortcoming. The only one I can think of, and it?s not really a negative, is that Villa International Construction is perhaps not the firm to take if your top goal is to get the remodeling project done at warp speed. Ari?s care and craftsmanship doesn?t allow him to race through a project, and he wasn?t one to have his team get home late in the evening just to start a new item on a particular day.
We weren't sure whether to use Ari's team for the backsplash, which was a somewhat challenging project with a lot of separate variable-sized horizontal marble strips for each roughly 12"x12" section. We ended up choosing him because we knew it would be done as a partnership through our good relationship. Ari was not in town for that work, and his other two team members did a very nice job and put up with my constant checking and suggestions for the countless alignment issues with those tiles. They never complained about my involvement and made any adjustment I asked for.
We found Ari and his team to be completely trustworthy, and they had the keys to our house and did most of the work while we were not around. Each day Ari would go over the questions that needed answering so he could move forward, and if something came up during the day, he would call.
Ari always went the extra mile to make sure things happened as they should. He basically spent half of a day hanging around doing nothing just to make sure the counter fabricators did the cooktop cut-out right in relation to the downdraft, which was a critical component. He easily could have left that to the counter company and hoped for the best. After he was already done with our kitchen and fully paid, he made the long trek to our house to check out why our under-cabinet lights suddenly didn't work and found that the transformer had gone bad. Ari labeled the wires, and when I got a replacement, I could install the new one myself.
So if you want fine craftsmanship, intelligent solutions, and a friendly, cooperative team to work with, Villa International Construction fits the bill.
