While the project took a little longer than we liked, part of that was our fault, as we travel a lot and were not available on a few occasions. We had our kitchen, two bathrooms, and basement remodeled. We also installed a new roof and waterproofed the side of our house due to leaking in our basement. All the work was done professionally and with the utmost quality. I had heard horror stories about contractors from co-workers, but thankfully we had no issues with Chevy Chase. We are satisfied with all of the work performed.

The crew from Chevy Chase Remodeling did an excellent job replacing my damaged kitchen ceiling, cabinets and counters. The crew was dependable, professional and courteous. They made adjustments for small space misalignments that had not been foreseen, followed through on punch list items and kept costs within the exact range of original quotes. They made sure that I was happy with their work, and I was very pleased!

Chevy Chase Remodeling did an exterior renovation for us, including replacing our roof and siding, painting our house, replacing a window, and adding a new screened-in porch and patio in our backyard. They took care of the design work as well as arranging all the subcontracting to perform the construction work. The owner, Steven, and all the subcontractors were friendly, easy to work with, and professional. It took a while, as we expected, but they worked overtime to complete on time the one part of the project we needed done by a certain date. And they did a great job overall--we are very pleased with the final results. The house looks totally remade and the porch and patio are just what we were hoping for. We recommend them!
Description of Work: New screened-in porch, new patio, new window, new roof, new siding, painting.
We are very pleased with the firm and the quality of the finished product. We remodeled the kitchen, several other areas of the 35 year old house we had bought including painting, light fixtures, front porch, and bathrooms. The total project cost was about 60-70k. Steve and his team were courteous, professional, accommodating all our requests and changes made as the work progressed. We were managing the project long distance but the firm kept us fully and promptly informed even meeting us in person on weekends since that was convenient to us. Steve is very good and knowledgeable and up to date in his fields. He listens well, is very patient, pays significant attention to detail and provides excellent advice on choices to be made. The project was completed on time and within agreed upon budgets. Have been very pleased with the outcome and the work so far. We would very highly recommend the firm for any type of remodeling work.

Awesome, job well done. Steven and his team finished our basement with open bar concept beautifully and in a timely manner. Let me start with flooring, the Eng Hardwood was amazingly put and excellently complementing the accent wall. Steven and David’s over all project layout including the dimmable lighting was finished unbelievably perfect. Steven is very professional, responsive, ethical, honest with integrity to have as a contractor. Project was completed with excellent quality exceeding our expectations, and most importantly with a reasonable and affordable cost. We are already enjoying it and receiving many compliments from family and friends. We have known Steven since 2014 when we needed a recovery work for water damage, and he took responsibility to deal with insurance and did an incredible job. We strongly and proudly recommend him without reservation.
It went very well. I am very pleased with the work. If I had to do it again, I will do it again. Excellent customer service and professionalism. The job was done in a timely manner.
Description of Work: My entire house was renovated. New kitchen, new floors, new bathrooms, new carpets, new painting, outside deck and new front door.
The work looks beautiful. I am very pleased with the final product.

Could have been any more impressed with the pleasantness, punctuality, professionalism and end product. We had a old deck with a huge tree in close proximity to the house. The removed that without even a piece of bark falling on the roof. Having someone that knows what they are doing and are trustworthy is the best combination ever. Deck was huge and they build in storage underneath that was water proof as well. Solid as a rock.
Description of Work: Rear deck torn down, tree removed and new deck built.
I’m very excited with the outcome. I marvel every time I walk down stairs and look into my new design and functional kitchen, and living room. Updated appliances, modernized upscale look. When anyone sees the home they go from room to room the response is WOW from room to room. Wow says it all. Thank you Steve and crew. WOW
I will never use another contractor for a major renovation ever again! Chevy Chase Remodeling is the ONLY firm I’ll use! I had a tight timeline and a tight budget and Steve from Chevy Chase Remodeling made sure that our renovation went off without a hitch, delivering on time and within budget. When we ran into snags, Steve found affordable, quality solutions. I used to believe that I could hire specialized handymen to do different jobs and come out cheaper than hiring a contractor, but Steve and Chevy Chase Remodeling were THE SAME price as multiple handymen, but I didn’t have to worry with the logistics or find solutions to problems. I was able to concentrate on my move while Steve made sure my new home was ready for us on day one!

Chevy Chase Remodeling was simply outstanding! I can't say enough good things about their professionalism, guidance and quality workmanship. From the initial scoping of the project and meeting with Steve (owner), I knew that I was in good hands. He provided helpful guidance in the selection of all of the materials for the job and priced the job at a reasonable rate. The workmanship and attention to detail from Jose, who was assigned to the job from start to finish was exceptional. In the end, he did a beautiful job on all of the tile work, electrical work, painting, and installation. My house was built in 1924 and has tons of idiosyncracies and Jose had to work around to complete the job. In terms of professionalism, everyone wore masks and adhered to all of the COVID-19 best practices, and at the end of the job, Steve engaged a top-notch cleaning crew to leave the house in pristine shape in time for the Christmas season. Chevy Chase gets a great recommendation from me. My bathrooms are just lovely!

The company failed to pull the proper permits for the job. In DC, that means the work was done illegally. Therefore, there can be fines and other penalties assessed to the homeowner. When asked about this, the company made threats and refused to complete the job, after about $20,000 of payments were provided.

This is a very dishonest review and its unfortunate. The client performed illegal construction prior to us arriving, Did not pull permits for various things including installing of a bathroom, electrical panel, and bedroom in the basement. The client contacted DCRA and filed a complaint. Upon their review of the scenario, we were found to have done nothing wrong or illegal. The client tried to get us to rectify the illegal construction that took place prior to us becoming involved. Anyone who has dealt with DCRA knows that if a contractor does not pull permits and performs illegal work, the homeowner would never be responsible for this, it would fall on the licensed contractor. We were cleared because we were able to produce all permits, all approved inspections for the work we completed. The issue is the client does not have approval for the work that was done by others and tried to manipulate my company into resolving her issues of not removing Asbestos properly and not pulling proper permits on the work she completed. We actually came in after another contractor that did not perform proper code worthy work. Our work was quality performed and approved by all perinate jurisdictions. There are photos of the work and copies of all permits and approved inspections on file should anyone feel the need to confirm. Its unfortunate that during such a tough global pandemic that anyone will use this platform in this manner. I can only assume that the findings of DC Govt were made official, prompting this act by the owner. As this work took place over a year ago. In addition there is a letter in the clients file from the tenant that lived in the home during the construction, stating nothing but positive things about our company and workmen who worked in the home while she resided. Please read other reviews as a true indicator of how we truly aim to please and have so successfully for over 20 years. Winners of the Super Service Award for countless years with Angies List.

Mr. DePollar was professional, fair, and kind and the price was significantly lower than several other bids that we obtained. The team was always on time, professional, with a great work ethic, and outstanding craftmanship. The attention to detail and a quality install was clearly evident. We are extremely pleased with our roof and it's beautiful. Three skylights were replaced as well as trim work on the inside of the house. The trim work really took the look of the skylights from plain to great looking. We've received many compliments. We will definitely hire Chey Chase Remodeling for other projects.

Thank you for your review. We are so glad you are happy with the results!
Overall, the project exceeded my expectations - both in the end result and how well the team at Chevy Chase Remodeling worked with me to make sure I was happy with it. The management team as well as the subcontractors kept me informed on schedules and progress, ensured I was satisfied with the results at each step, and stayed flexible when issues popped up. Before the project started, the designer worked with me to make my vision into reality, offering suggestions based on other projects they had worked, and making sure we were always on the same page on the end result. During the project, everything went fairly smoothly but when there were hiccups, they were handled quickly and satisfactorily. As each phase completed - construction, electrical, drywall, painting, flooring, finishing - the team at CCR made sure everything was in order and made some quick corrections when they were needed in one case. I would definitely recommend Chevy Chase Remodeling to others looking to do similar jobs and plan on reaching out to them in the future as I plan further projects around my home.

Chevy Chase Remodeling put on a new roof on my Potomac house a couple months ago. They did a great job communicating timeline, expectations, and options up front, and then executed the job really well. Steven and his team were all helpful and easy to work with. The offer was competitive as well. Job site was thoroughly cleaned up after. There were some minor things that needed to be addressed after the job was complete, both on the same day as well as several weeks later, and Steven and his team were able to take care of that immediately. We love the new roof and are looking forward to many years. Would definitely recommend to use Chevy Chase Remodeling if you need a roof.

After a flood in our finished basement, we contacted Chevy Chase Remodeling to fix some flood damage and, since we already had to do work in that living space, some remodeling. Overall, most of the work is spectacular. As part of the work we also asked them to finish our laundry room. The drywallers accidentally placed an extension cord behind the drywall but when my husband flagged the issue, they were good enough to come back and correct the situation by giving us access! To be clear, we did not anticipate that dealing with an extension cord would be considered "electrical work" nor did we imagine that their solution would be to wall it up or, when flagged, just cut a hole in the drywall and leave it. For the wiring to the Verizon box, there was enough leeway for a far more elegant solution that would have the majority of the wires behind the drywall without the need for the crew to have done anything more than to push the wires into an appropriate spot. No disconnects or special expertise required. Just a little common sense. See the pictures attached.

We always strive to provide quality work within the scope of the agreement. We were contracted to install hardwood flooring, install a shower in a half bath, stone tile a fireplace and drywall the walls only in a utility/laundry room. Pertaining to The laundry area and the photos attached, No plumbing or electrical was to be done. We drywalled most of the room and stopped on one wall as we asked the client what they wanted to do about the Verizon, cable box etc. as we explained the drywall crew was there to install drywall only. The client seemed to eliminate some of the old wires, however left a strip outlet and Verizon box attached to the wall. When the drywall crew returned the box was still attached and the cords were still attached. One of The remedies was to rewire a new plug with a new outlet which was presented as an option. In the end the client said no it was ok she would hire someone to take care of it. I’m a little surprised that the bulk of the work photos was not attached, leading one to only see an area in which the photos don’t tell the entire story. We have been in business for over 20 years and we will never walk away from a project without communicating and providing options to remedy situations. In this case our proposed remedy of providing additional services was declined. The bathroom, hardwood flooring, painting, trim work, tile work, new closet, and towel warmer, attached vanity and vessel sink all turned out beautiful which is referenced in the review as spectacular by the client.

Great! The attention to detail on the work was above and beyond. The crew arrived on time, did an exceptional job, finished the job quickly and before even promised, and cleaned up thoroughly. I would absolutely hire them again and recommend them to anyone.
My experience with Chevy Chase Remodeling company was great. My rating for the overall job is an A+. The workers arrived on time everyday and they kept me up to date in the process. Any problems or concerns were addressed in a timely manner and resolved right away. The job and the quality of work that was done on my home was outstanding/excellent. I would refer this company to family members or anyone that's looking for a top of the line remodeling of the home on a budget. Thanks for making my house feel like a home again.
David the architect did a very thorough job in drawing up plans; Steve did an amazing job at staying on top of the work, always ready to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. Often, instead of speaking on the phone he would come over and speak to us in person. Jennifer stayed on top of all the financial questions. All the members of Steve's crew were punctual, trustworthy and hardworking. They worked diligently for long hours to complete the job at hand. Thorough clean up was done at the end of each day. The quality of work was excellent. We definitely would hire Steve and his crew again.

I usually write good reviews for companies that I work with on angies list. I really wanted this to work out. Steve’s Assistant, Jennifer, called me to tell me he was going to be about 30 minutes late for our 4:30 appointment. I told her I was upset because I took time off of work to meet him at my house and I thought this was unprofessional. Steve called me back and did not apologize. Instead, he kept saying he was stuck in a car accident and that I should understand. And he was asking me if I ever was stuck in a car accident. I told him I usually plan my schedule and check the traffic. I am usually not late and, in the rare instances that I am running late, I call before my meeting time to tell them I am running late and apologize. Steve called me after our scheduled meeting time to tell me that he’s late. All he had to do was call before 4:30 to tell me he was running late, admit he was wrong, and apologize instead of lecturing me and making it feel like it was my fault for being upset about him being late for our first meeting. He lacks self awareness. I would think a general contractor has access to a mirror. Again, he did not apologize, which would have made it better for me. By being late for his first meeting AND not apologizing, he gives the impression that his clients’ time is not important to him. He kept saying that we should not have a business relationship because I got upset with him for him being late for our first meeting. We initially wanted to meet at 6:30 and I rescheduled for 4:30 earlier in the morning- his assistant Jennifer said it would work out better to meet at 4:30. He said he was doing me a favor by meeting earlier than our originally scheduled 6:30 meeting. I told him what Jennifer said and he said that Jennifer doesn’t know everything about his schedule and that she is wrong. I replied and told him he shouldn’t have Jennifer speak for him as his assistant if that is the case. I look forward to reading his reply and giving a rebuttal to his reply.

I’m sorry this person is so upset, for what it’s worth we called and made him aware that we were running about 20 min behind. He got really upset and stated I could have left work 20 minutes later had I known. The problem is I did not know. As I explained to him I was about 10 min away and a car about 200 feet in front of me was rear ended. The folks got out of the car and created a traffic jamb in an already heavy traffic situation. I immediately called my secretary and asked her to give a courtesy call to the client and make him aware it could be about a 20 min delay in arriving based on the situation. After we spoke to him, she called and said the member was very upset and extremely rude and I asked should I still go, mind you now I’m 5 minutes away and she replied she was not certain because the member said “well I will think about it.” This left us completely unsure as the member mentioned “I might not be there” and then hung up abruptly. We try to accommodate the best we can, however if you were on the road on 5/22 you are aware that the entire day was full of traffic as a garbage truck caught on fire and closed the entire beltway causing delays everywhere, except to walkers and bikers. On top of it to have a fender bender, only added to the already hectic, chaotic traffic situation. To be honest, after hearing the tone and abrasive nature of the member I began to consider if we were the right fit for his needs. With a remodeling project we all know things happen beyond control and if an accident completely out of our control occurred creating what you are reading about, what would happen if anything more traumatizing occurred. Thanks for considering us however we wish you well in receiving an estimate on your potential project and we do apologize that we were running behind to meet with you. Also for the record if your still reading. Chevy Chase Remodeling never made it to the home, Never met the client and of course never did any work.
I am totally pleased with these repair jobs. The company owner personally inspected my home and gave me estimates that I find to be a very fair price for the value. His team was punctual and completed all repair jobs as promised and I have already contacted Chevy Chase Remodeling for my next job. If you need home repair, i highly recommend that you contact Chevy Chase Remodeling.
