Kuhlman's is a family run business. The young owner and his wife run the business. He's a polite young man - very nice & friendly. We got an estimate back in the spring. He told us that being the busy season for them it would be several weeks. Then we had lots of rain and that set their schedule back. There wasn't the greatest communication about their exact start date. I reminded Julie, his wife that is an important part of Customer Service. She concurred and was better communicating after that. We contracted for an old flag stone patio be redone. I got 3 estimates. He wasn't the lowest, but being a local owned business near me, I chose to go with him. We asked for 3 sides of the patio to be replaced, the base redone, the old stones pulled up, power washed, and then re-laid. The job began and looked pretty good, with the new side, and new base. I then had to go out of town while they were laying the stones. I returned home and was not happy with the final look of the stones - as there were big gaps all along 2 sides. I spoke with him about it and we had about a 45 minute conversation. He said that he did what I asked - which he did. However; I wasn't happy with the final job. Because of that, he did want a happy customer. He recommended that I needed to lay more stones and have those 2 sides redone. ( The patio was probably originally done by a previous owner and it wasn't a quality job.) We agreed on an additional $300 for this. The final job looks good. I think it was a good lesson for this young businessman to be a little more explicit about a job such as this. He did what I asked, but he probably should have been aware that he would need more stones, recommended that to me, and then build that contingency into his estimate. Great. i wasn't home at the time and was sent a bill later for the agreed amount. Mrs. Kuhlman answers the phone and she is very good at calling you back if she's not able to answer. Very pleased with their service and responsiveness.

We were very satisfied with the job and will use Kuhlman Lawn Services again. We will use them to aerate our lawn in the Fall.

I WISH I COULD GIVE A GRADE HIGHER THAN A. A+++++ I needed a yard care team to spread mulch and wood chips and do some general clean up for a Saturday event at my home. I called on Wednesday, their team was here Friday. On Thursday I called in a slight panic because my VA wood chip supplier screwed up and the order was not placed and wouldn't arrive on time for the crew to spread the chips. I didn't know what to do. KUHLMAN LAWN was able to get me the wood chips I needed from another supplier in MD, AND in time for my Saturday event to go on as scheduled. Absolutely BRILLIANT company!!!! The 3 man team they sent was fast, efficient, 100% professional and the most thorough landscaping/yard team I've ever had in the 11 years we've owned this property. Not only will I be calling them again for our next landscaping job, I will be recommending them to anyone and everyone who asks. Initially, I had trouble getting them to understand exactly what I needed to have done, but once everything was sorted out, they’ve done a great job. When I called the owner, he took care of everything in a professional manner. I’ve worked with numerous companies in the past and this is the first company that has been able to do exactly what I wanted them to do!

I hired them when I lived in Poolesville. I since have moved to Leesburg so for the last 2 years I haven't used them. But, I can tell you they do great work and I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in having yard work completed. No only did they work on my planting beds every year they also cut our grass weekly or as needed. The owner JD Kulman is a great guy and he always makes sure his men do a great job.

The service was okay overall. We live in a small town, so we decided to go local and go with this company. The job was okay, but I didn’t think the follow-up was that terrific; they didn’t call or come out to inspect anything once the job was done.

Do I like Kuhlman Landscaping. No. I LOVE 'EM ! These men worked their tail off from 8am to sunset barely stopping for lunch. They did a ton of work, went above and beyond the original scope, had their own unique ideas, and were totally professional. Herculian work. Great rates on new plantings. Moved trees, moved stone, moved drains. The owner, JD, was on site most of the time and if not, there was a capable foreman. Julie from the office is equally professional. If you don't hire these hardworking, honest, pleasant people, you're nuts. I've rarely been so impressed by workers at my home. They even smiled and engaged my 3 year old who was fascinated by the laying of sod. Really good people.

I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY DO A GOOD JOB AND THEIR VERY PLEASANT, RESPECTFUL AND EASY TO TALK TO. MY LAWN LOOKS VERY NICE AND I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES.
