Price: a 16x32 Fiberon deck for 12K. Really! I could not find a better price. Quality: I have not seen another deck that looks as nice and the quality of craftsmanship is top of the line. Responsiveness: The job was completed on time and calls from Tony were returned the same day. Punctuality: They were done in three days with county inspections. Professionalism: Very courteous, clear and concise when addressing questions. OVERALL Experience I can say that ARH Decks is the best builder I have ever contracted. I have referred them to others. If more builders were like this one, we wouldn?t need Angie?s list.

We went with ARH after a friend referred them to us. We had a very custom deck designed by a professional architectural firm and wanted to have it built but could not find a contractor who would do it for a reasonable price. After meeting with Tony, we felt his price was very fair and decided to go with him. And, in the end, we got our dream deck at much less than we expected price wise. It was even featured on the front of the spring catalog for Shoreline Vinyl that year (it has a round front and is Khaki color if you look it up). I would and have referred them to anybody. A+++a

Over the past few years we have hired numerous contractors to upgrade our Perry Hall, MD home. We recommend all of our contractors EXCEPT ARH Contracting LLC, which is owned and operated by Anthony (Tony) Hessler. His guys installed TREX composite decking boards with "no spacing" (boards were so tight against each other that you could not even see light thru them). Mr. Hessler also had "indoor" moisture resistant luan (lauan) plywood installed under our sunroom in an area that is very visible 10 feet off the ground. We had to hire a registered TREX pro to route the decking boards so the boards would have the proper spacing. We were told (and in the contract) that soffit would be installed under the sunroom. Moisture resistant luan is a reddish pink cheap plywood that other contractors along with Home Depot and Lowes manufacturer product "installation specifications" say is an interior grade plywood that should only be used indoors and is not recommended for exposure to weather. It looked terrible and warped from being exposed to the weather in just a couple of months. The Home Depot pro desk would have strongly advised against using Luan under a sunroom as it should only be used indoors. Mr. Hessler's crew damaged many items in our yard - (benches, 2 window screens, corner frame of sunroom window, corner siding, single new gate, and a 10 foot wide new double gate. The gates where only 2 weeks old. His workers used our picnic benches as saw horses which left deep lines cut on the tops of two of the benches. The tops of the benches needed to be replaced. There was a lot of sloppy work including missed nails, missing decking screws, rusted nails on all the white board, etc. We had to constantly hound Tony Hessler through emails/phone calls to finally finish up the work and pass county inspection after no shows and failures. He promised us a safety gate for our 2 year old child and we never saw it. The electric in our sunroom was put on the same circuit as our outside outlets along with being changed to an arc fault breaker. We tripped the circuit every time we plugged into the outside outlets until we paid $418 to get that fixed. The flood lights put on the outside of our sunroom were wired hot with no on/off switch. We paid to have an on/off switch put on. We spent over $5,500.00 to clean up a sloppy and neglectful job. You can?t put a price on stress, time off work, and time looking for contractors to fix the mess. Our deck still does not look as good as if the boards were installed correctly because we left the no spacing in boards near rails to cut down on repair costs; you can still see the boards what have no spacing. We also don?t have the 5 year structural warranty like he promised. At the time the work was done on our home, this business was done on the side as his second job which is unrelated to his full time job. We recently won a civil judgment against ARH Contracting LLC\Anthony (Tony) Hessler (not Sr.). We do not want anyone to experience what we did. Standing up to a contractor who did something wrong by presenting witnesses, transcripts, photos, and binders of evidence in a court of law is far from being any kind of bully. We can feel good about ourselves for also winning the case based on honesty. Anyone needing information, please contact Kimberly_Matthew@hotmail.com.
