ANDERSON HOME INSPECTION

This was our second experience employing Doug's services and he was a pleasure to work with both times. He is unfailingly punctual, professional, and thorough. I would not hesitate to use him again or recommend him to my family and friends.

Doug was prompt. In fact he was early. I liked the fact that he did the report right there on the spot. This way every thing that was still fresh in his mind. Which also allow us to have the report right away. I agree with other reviews on here regarding his humor, thoroughness and detailed explanations. We had a good experience and would use Doug again or recommend to others.

Doug was great. If you want complete and thorough Doug is your guy. He will explain everything to you and knows his stuff. He helps answer real world questions while still maintaining his integrity and professionalism. I have bough five houses and wished he had done them all.

Provided a thorough review of the home, identifying areas for concern, organized by level of risk. Explained many things about the home that we were not aware. Very personable and affable guy. Would definitely call on the company again. The final report was sent to be this morning, less than 24 hours.

Mr. Gillette performed a thorough and informative inspection of a home I was purchasing. He was able to do the inspection even though we had one of the many snow storms the day before - and this did not deter in him any way. His inspection was detailed and he explained every aspect of it to me the whole time of the inspection. He answered my many questions cheerfully and as fully as possible. I would highly recommend this firm to anyone purchasing a home!

The inspection went very well. The inspector uncovered some major issues with the home. He was very thorough. the completeness of the written report and the photos were outstanding. I highly recommend this company for anyone who is pursuing purchasing a home and need an inspection.

Doug was great, thorough, and quite knowledgable on home maintenance and any problems that cropped up during the walk through. He arrived early, was good natured, took his time explaining the positive and negative aspects of the house, provided a detailed report via email clearly outlining the issues he found and the recommendations needed to remedy the situation.

We hired Doug to inspect our home at the suggestion of our realtor. Doug arrived on time to our house. It appeared as he was going through our house that he was checking everything. Reality is we bought a house with SO MANY issues. Some of these issues I feel Doug should have seen as he was checking our home. There was evidence of a rodent problem and he never noted that. I had a feeling the basement had water issues and Doug said everything was fine. I realize that inspectors only go by what they can see but behind our basement wall which you could see from the inside of the closet underneath our steps was full of wet mud. Doug did not note this even though he had gone into the back of the closet. The kitchen appliances were broken and that was not noted. Overall, I am not pleased with the service. Many contractors that have been in my house have said that most of this stuff should have been noted during inspection. So now I am stuck with a house where I cannot even use the basement and have had to pay THOUSANDS of $$$ to remediate issues. Others issues I can't even afford to start fixing. Do your homework before you hire anyone, you don't have to take any suggestions from your realtor if you rather go with your own people.

As first time home-buyers, having this step covered expertly was critical to us. Doug was very thorough, willing to answer questions and ask prompting questions as he was not aware of my familiarity with certain aspects of the house during the walk through. The home was updated not long ago, so there were few items that made his list of items to correct. This left the roof as the major question mark in our minds. In this case, he did not go up to the roof, but did leave us with the recommendation of getting the owner's documentation and/or a certification for the roof. On one hand, I was expecting him to physically walk the roof and was surprised this was not done. Regardless of what he might see on the roof, if there was not documentation by the owner / warranty / roof certification, his walk on the roof would not mean much. Interestingly, our insistence on this was met with some resistance by the agent, and of course the owner. I don't know how hard I would have pushed without Doug's recommendation, so am quite happy he was there to tee that up. Don't use your Realtor's recommended inspector, as they may depend financially on the work provided them by the agency. Get certainty (documentation) about large items such as a roof.

Doug was great. He was able to schedule me just a few days after I called for the appointment. He was early for the appointment, walked us through the whole house, pointing out both the good and the bad, fully explaining any issues he saw, and then provided a detailed report with photos via email before he even left the house. I would definitely recommend him.

Doug was early, friendly, and totally professional. This review comes after the second home inspection he has performed for us because he saved us from buying a house with overwhelming maintenance costs. He explained many issues with both properties at length and told us the actions needed to correct them as well as upgrades we could consider down the road. He is also available for Sunday appointments which saved us a huge scheduling headache. We would certainly use him again in the future and recomend him to friends.

Doug was AWESOME!!! He was there when I arrived and had already been on the roof and inside the house to turn on the a/c to make it comfortable for when we were there. He took the time to go over everything in the home with me and answered all my questions. Doug even suggested one of the first things I do is change my locks!!! Absolutely... My Realtor was so impressed with him that she even asked for him to send some of his business cards her way. I was so glad I found him on Angie's List. Thank you Doug for a wonderful job and taking the time to go over everything with me and helping me feel comfortable in my home decision.

Anderson Home Inspection Service was wonderful. He helped me make an informed decision about whether or not I should buy a particular house. After he identified the many ways in which the house needed work, it became clear that the house was not a worthwhile investment, especially not as a first-time home buyer. I used him again when I found what is now my current home, and asked him to assess the new place. His positive assessment made me feel confident about the house, and the fact that he had to visit more than once and was willing to work with me on price was greatly appreciated. He's honest and clear about how things work or should be working. He's really helpful and I will absolutely use him again.

Doug was excellent. On time (acutally he was early), very informative, friendly, and offered a lot of great suggestions for us as home buyers. Highly recommended. A++

Mr. Gillette was very knowledgable, informative, and personable. Checked all systems and explained to us as he did so. Very professional report was available on e-mail before we left premises. Very pleased with his service.

My first call was Friday July 19 to set up an appointment knowing I was on vacation the week of July 22 and possibly get an appointment for the week of July 29 figuring how busy they might be. I gave the person I talked to the address of the home needing the Home Inspection and identified the property as a rental property and gave her my cell number. She said someone call me the beginning of the week. I waited till Wednesday July 24 thinking 3 days was enough time and called back. The same person answered and said she forgot to give the info to Doug and would do so immediately. I called back Friday July 26 still not receiving a phone call from anyone and the same person answered and said she would give pass the info on right away and I should get a phone call that day. I called back Monday July 29 in the afternoon still not receiving a phone call and questioned what happened to the phone call I was supposed to get on Friday and the same person said she would give Doug the info again. I responded I waited for a call long enough and would go elsewhere with my business.

Very responsive - was able to make contact the same day and schedule an appointment within a few days. He was on-time and very interactive while performing the inspection (able to ask questions, clarify issues, etc.). He did a great job for us and I'd absolutely use him again.

I had a good experience with this company. Doug was thorough and explained everything to me. Doug provided me with some excellent tips on home maintenance as well. Calling to schedule to appointment and working with his assistant was also a great experience.

Doug arrived early and had the roof inspected before I arrived (and I was ten minutes early). He was not only very professional, but VERY thorough and easy to talk to. No question went left unanswered, and he made sure to document everything in his computer in details with accurate pictures and explanations anyone could understand. His background and experience showed in his concern for safety issues and by classifying issues by order of importance. Granted, the price wasn't cheap, but it opened my eyes to the things not done in a rehabbed house. If you want an inspection done right, get Doug!

Doug arrived early and started working right away. He was very knowledgeable and walked me through each room going over everything I needed to know about my new house. Afterwards I got a detailed report (including pictures) of his findings. I highly recommend him and would use him again.

Doug Gillette is a knowledgeable professional. He walked me through every step of the inspection. His rate was reasonable and I felt that I got more than my money's worth. He arrived early and started inspecting the exterior right away. He gave me a copy of the report in my hand at the end of the appointment and e-mailed me pictures within an hour. Doug performed the inspection. He is the only person that does inspections for Anderson Home Inspections in Baltimore. He came on time. Was very thorough and extremely knowledgeable. He pointed out the good, the bad and the ugly, as if he would be the buyer. He also pointed out maintenance tips and things to look out for. I left with a nice package that not only summarizes everything he's done but also is a nice resource for further maintenance on the house. My advice, HIRE THE GUY! He is very professional, lay back but really knows his stuff. He has been doing this for 20-30 years but still, takes his time to answer every question. Thanks man for a job well done!

I engaged Anderson Home Inspection to inspect three of my recent investment properties in Baltimore City. Doug Gillette was the inspector. He arrived early and prepared. Doug was courteous and informative. Doug knew a lot about the history of homes built in the city in this age group. He gave details and perspective to his findings. I received a completed binder of the results after each home's inspection (on the spot!) He provided a solid roadmap for maintenance issues that needed to be address or keep an eye on. My tenants were in the properties as we inspected. Doug was very polite and spoke with each tenant (answering their questions as well). Overall, I would definitely recommend Doug to anyone. I look forward to using him on other properties soon.

Mr. Gillette did an excellent job, not only of inspecting everything but also explaining what he was doing and what I needed to know about my new home. The price was more than reasonable and the service truly excellent. I highly recommend this company.

Doug arrived early and assessed the outside of the home. He then met with us inside and walked us through what he would do, invited us to ask questions and follow him as he worked, and explained how we would leave with a full binder with all comments and suggestions that would also act as a reference manual for the future. He walked through every inch of the house in great detail, tested every electrical outlet, provided an estimate of useful life for everything, pointed out issues of concern that were both tiny and outrageous. He ended the appointment by walking us through his findings once more, and issued a very comprehensive report. This was for an investment property. He was so good we are considering hiring him to assess our primary home just to give us a lit of things we ought to be doing to keep it up to snuff!
