They are very slow to respond to requests. I never had water come into my chimney until Complete Chimney installed the liner. I then had water coming in and they were very slow to respond. The resurfaced crown leaked and they said it was out of warranty even though they caused problem. They had no interest in fixing the problem they created. They missed arrival time windows without any notification to me that they would be late. I will not rehire this company.

I found complete chimneys, based on their estimate, and was exceptionally disappointed. First person who came did about half of what was on estimate. Apparently didn’t know what was on the estimate and left. Basically a half done job. Repaired the crown, but was supposed to replaced all damaged mortar and bricks on chimney. By replace mortar I mean grind out the mortar and put in new mortar. Didn’t do squat. After 2 months of complaints they sent their top guy to do it right, he came smeared some mortar in some cracks. Didn’t remove any bricks didn’t grind any mortar out. Didn’t use kind of waterproof material they contracted to apply. Didn’t add number of coats they promised. I just had original inspector out. Didn’t tell him anything. Just asked him to inspect again. He looked at chimney and asked me when I was having repairs done. Apparently no repair work was visible. All of the brick and mortar replacement needed to be done still. All of the so called repairs have washed off already. I now have a contract with another provider.
Description of Work: We had our chimney inspected by an independent expert who said we needed repairs. He didn’t do repairs, didn’t recommend anyone, and had no conflict of interest of any kind. The ultimate independent expert in my opinion.

We had originally contacted this company to simply clean our chimney and to put our chimney cap back in place, since we have had birds in our chimney for two years, and we wanted to begin using our fireplace. When they came for the cleaning, they recommended that we install a cleanout door on the exterior of the chimney, so that the ash and soot would be removed through the outside. We arranged for a second appointment to have the door installed. The job and crew were professional. We are pleased with the result, and intend to hire them to restore our fireplace blower to good working order sometime in the near future.

The company came out within a few days of my call. Mark T inspected and cleaned the chimney (which wasn't that dirty, as it turned out), and took pictures of the metal stack and the exterior of the fireplace stack. They recommended replacing the 4 refractory panels for approximately $1800. They pointed out warping on the metal stack, which he said might not be an immediate problem but would need to be addressed at some point as it would just continue to get worse. He also said that the chase cover at the top, exterior of the fireplace stack should be replaced. I got a second and third opinion. Both those providers said that the refractory panels are cosmetic only since the entire firebox is metal, and that the price would probably be about $400, not $1800. They also looked at the photos provided by Complete Chimney, and said that the 'warping' that Mark T pointed out was not warping...just normal coloration of the stack and not an issue. They said the chase cover was rusting, but not falling apart and was not any kind of safety hazard. while this company did the initial cleaning I requested, I feel like they were trying to push me to see problems where none existed in the hope that I would have them install a new gas fireplace.
Description of Work: I wanted the fireplace chimney cleaned/inspected and an estimate on replacing the crack refractory panels. I was trying to determine if there were any actual issues with the fireplace, and if so, whether it would be more cost efficient to put in a gas fireplace than fix any issues with the existing wood-burning unit.

The foreman and crew were polite and courteous promptly performing the work. I had concerns with the flashing so the manager came out to inspect the work and all the flashing was preplaced. The chimney looks great.
Description of Work: The chimney cap was cracked causing many of the bricks and grout to crack. Also efflorescence was evident down to the roof. All of the bricks were removed down to the roof and rebuilt with some of the original bricks stockpiled on the back of my property. The additional bricks needed had to be special ordered because they were a different size as is used today. After a month they returned to seal the entire chimney as per the specifications of the sealer manufacturer.

The techs that came our were thorough and professional and wonderful. They were VERY clean and you would not have known they were there. They not only cleaned but inspected the outside and made clear recommendations to us since we had moisture inside the chimney which was perpetuating the smell. They gave us several options on how to fix that issue along with a possible wood burning insert which we have been considering. They were fast, efficient, and incredibly knowledgeable without any pressure. I had hoped to be able to get this for closer to $150 but they still performed a good service for $202.
Description of Work: We needed to have our chimney cleaned - we've been in the house 3 1/2 years and don't use it but occasionally get the scent of it so knew it was time.

In spite of the lifetime warranty which I received when I purchased the gutter guard ; I was told that the new owner does not honor any of the old warranties - in fact they bought the prior company assets but do not want to honor the company responsibilities. The original company was called Complete Chimneys Inc. the new company which is keeping the same telephone number is called Complete Chimneys LLC. They offered to come out and see what the problem is for a $161 charge. Why would anyone go to a company that wants to capitalize on a company's past good reputation but then not honor those old obligations.

I have both an open hearth fireplace on my first floor and a wood stove in my basement. My house was built to code back in 2002 when chimney liners for wood stoves were not required. Now chimney liners are required for wood stoves placed in new homes. Since I use my wood stove extensively in the winter months, I decided to minimize the risk of fire by having a stainless steel liner placed in the wood stove?s chimney. I gathered three quotes, one was half the cost of the other two, while the two others, who have been in business for a number of years were much higher but within $10 of each other. Of the three, I had a much higher comfort level with Complete Chimneys after speaking with Matt and Dan. I believe the materials they use, although similar to other companies, are of a higher quality. The entire process took about 3 ½ to 4 hours. There was some tricky maneuvering that needed to be done in order to move the new liner down the chimney and finally attached to the adapter, but with Matt and Dan?s years of experience they always had a trick to help the process along. After placement of the liner, they filled the surrounding space, between the liner and terracotta (clay tile) inside the chimney, with insulation. The insulation is hand mixed and is specifically for chimneys. Note: I didn?t go with the lower quote because I didn?t have the same comfort level that the job would have been done correctly or without damaging my existing fireplace. Also, for the lower price, I can?t imagine they intended to place insulation between the liner and the clay chimney tiles. Finally, Matt and Dan, with Complete Chimneys, were great! They did an excellent job of installing, were neat and did not damage a thing. I am very comfortable that I picked the right team for the job!
Description of Work: They cleaned my wood stove chimney and installed a stainless steel liner and poured insulation around the liner.

I had a different company come out previously to do a sweep and inspection. I have a fireplace with a wood stove insert. The first company told me that they could not pull my wood stove out because it was improperly installed and gave me a long list of items that I needed to get fixed (some of which seemed redundant) and that I shouldn't use my chimney until all the work was complete. I didn't get a good feeling from them so I called Complete Chimney to come out and do a second inspection to see what they thought. Scott and Jimmy (I think) came out and one of the first things they did was pull out my wood stove. They inspected my chimney and talked to me realistically about what I should have done. I have an old wood stove that I am not quite ready to replace, and asked if they could fit a new liner to my existing stove. He told me the new wood stoves require a 6 inch liner, where mine was an 8 inch, but told me they could install a boot to adapt to the old wood stove until we are ready for a new one. He was professional and didn't speak down to me. Since the weather was getting cold, I was worried about not getting put on their schedule in time. Scott called the office for me on the spot, and made my appointment for me. Andrew came out to do the work with a helper. They were on time, professional and courteous. I was impressed that Andrew knew the exact work that needed to be done, he even cleaned the shelf behind the stove that the previous company did not do because they never pulled my stove out. Even though they were there for several hours, there was not a speck of soot anywhere, except the workers! Will definitely use them again!
Description of Work: Installed stainless steel liner to wood stove insert, insulated the liner, installed a boot to connect it to my old wood stove, installed new cap, patched and sealed the crown.

I have been using this company since we moved into our house in 2007. They are reliable and efficient with the cleaning process. I have also used them to inspect another fireplace in the living room. We have since converted that to gas. They have also in the past replaced the interior pipe for the wood burning stove. I have been satisfied with their service and their price is comparable to other companies that perform this same service. I have no complaints at all and would recommend to others.

How has it gone? It hasn't gone. In December, before Christmas,Complete Chimney regrouted the chimney. It is now August 5, 2014 and they have yet to complete the work. They did come back and put a tarp over the top of our chimney because of rain leaking into the fireplace (which was why we contracted with them to begin with) and the tarp has been on for four or more months. While they told us they replaced the chimney cap...they did not do that in December. Yesterday (8/4/14) we received an email telling us that they would be at our house at 8am. At 8:30am, when we called, we were told the schedule says 10am. Unfortunately, they can't come at that time, because we have other workers who will be sealing our deck...and Complete Chimney won't be able to use the deck for 24 hours - where the chimney they have to reseal is located. So now we have to reschedule again. We have no idea what damage has been done to the new grout as it has never been sealed. All we feel right now is that we lost $2800. For awhile we were being told that the owner's wife was going through chemo...and being a survivor myself, we were very understanding. But, I worked during chemo, my husband worked while I was going through chemo, and now it is time that our work be finished.
Description of Work: Complete Chimney came in and checked and cleaned our fireplace..and did a fine job. We then purchased from them the regrouting of our chimney (outside), sealing it, and replacing the chimney cap for $2800 - to try and stop leaking from the rain.

It was time for the annual chimney inspections per condo association guidelines. Although, the association had hired another chimney company to do the job - and the cost was contained in our condo fees - I elected to hire and work with a company with which I had a positive history - that company is Complete Chimneys. Complete Chimneys has always provided excellent service; I've used them many times in the past. They are punctual, professional, friendly - everything a customer would want in a service provider. Complete Chimneys is top notch, servicing their customers with integrity! I have already recommended Complete Chimneys many times to my friends and neighbors, and will continue to do so!
