After purchasing the job shortly before Christmas, I heard nothing from them as far as scheduling (On the purchase order it clearly stated that they would contact me within two days). I finally went to the Angies List website and noted that I could leave a message for them...which I did.(This was done about a week before they came). A company rep did contact me the next day informing me that I should have gone on the website initially to schedule the job. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE PURCHASE ORDER SAID! As far as their work goes, I have no idea how to evaluate the quality of the job, but they did show up at the agreed time and performed the work.

I had a cleaning through Angie's List with a vendor, and they gave me some issues with deterioration at the top of the chimney. When this offer came up, I took it in, they gave me an inspection and did an estimate. It was pushing around $900.00 to re-cap, or basically redo the cement and point the brick up at the top of the chimney. We agreed that it wasn't an emergency. I didn't have any water leaks or anything like that. Over a period of time we tried to schedule, which was a matter of convenience for both of us, which I had no issue with, but when we did schedule, they didn't have a tall enough ladder. They did part of the job, and said they would come back in a day or two. They didn't come back for several weeks, and we had a heavy rain storm. I had water down my chimney. I called them, complained and we got it repaired. Several months later now, I've notice that in my living room, I have a slight amount of mold from that water penetration. Since they've finished the job, its rained off and there has been no water penetration. I haven't had the opportunity to address that issue. I've been in communication with Chimney Tek. He said that he's not a water damage expert, but to keep him advised of our findings. It's minor mold behind a picture over the fireplace, and I haven't had it investigated as of yet. I'm waiting to see if it increases, which it hasn't. We've had additional rains and I haven't seen any mold, so all I can surmise is that the delay in finishing the job once he started it, introduced the water. I had buckets below my damper collecting the water during the heavy rain, and I've never had that during the thirty years of living in this house. I have not had it remediated yet. I have to get someone to look at it and see if I need to get it painted over or advise on what I should do. It took him a while to schedule, but we had agreed initially that it was not urgent. It's just that when he started the job, he had so much going on. I think the job was a pretty good job, it's just that the delay in getting it done caused me water damage.

He came out and basically said that I would need another $1300 worth of work for him to do the job. I expected some extra work but I can't afford that.

There weren't any additional charges besides the big deal charge. The experience was average to good. He was pleasant and seemed to know what he was doing. They were very careful to put a vacuum there and keep it clean. He used a camera to take the information back to do the quotation on it. That was the first time that I used them. It was very satisfactory, and the pricing was good. The responsiveness was not so good. They had scheduled to do the work, and then the guy fell sick and they couldn't do it, but they haven't rescheduled it.

Called Vince in November after noticing the mortar on my chimney was deteriorating near the top. Vince answered the phone immediately and we scheduled a free estimate a few days later. Estimate was performed on time and I was provided with a written cost estimate that day (the other chimney companies took a few days to prepare their estimate). Vince realized how concerned I was with the condition of my chimney and we scheduled repairs for December. About a week after the estimate I noticed an Angie's list coupon that was supposed to be presented at the time of estimate, but Vince honored it anyway. The actual work date slipped a week due to weather and one of his workers getting the flu, so they were both for reasons Vince had no control over. The workers did show up on the rescheduled date and performed the work quickly and professionally. They even added a decorative line of bricks to new portion of chimney which was equal parts beautiful and unexpected.

It was fine and it was okay. They recommended a follow-up service that we did not end up going with. They were timely and they did the service that they promised. There was some debris on the roof that I was not happy about. It was not perfect but they did what they said they would.

I never heard back from the company regarding scheduling the services.

The provider arrived on time with a helper and got right to work on the chimney. After the fireplace was cleaned, the wood burnt without any smoke. Well worth the money! And a bargain at that price!

Showed up on time, did a professional job

I had called Chimney Tek because I saw that the top several layers of bricks on my fireplace chimney had fallen off. Since it was a freestanding fireplace chimney and was not connected to my house heating system, it took several weeks to get someone to come and give an estimate. However, this was a lot sooner than most to the other companies I had called, due to some very bad winter storms which had caused a lot of chimney damage in the area. When they came, they did a thorough inspection of the chimney and fireplace, and noted that there was also damage to the liner, which probably had occurred several years ago when the Baltimore area experienced an earthquake. Even though I have not used and do not intend to use the fireplace, I chose to have both repaired at the same time. The actual repair work was done about 5 weeks later. The crew were very professional and informative and the work was completed all in one day. They also alerted me to some roof and siding issues that I actually did have attended to later in the year by a different company.

It looks like the technicians that came out to provide the service did a nice job thoroughly cleaning. However although I was told that my liner needed repairs, I never received a quote for the repairs.

ChimenyTek showed up on time and did the chimney sweeping. I have one complaint, though. The damper on the pre-fab fireplace in the family room is broken and ChimneyTek was supposed to get back to me with the price for a new damper. They never called with a price.

It went well they were very through and professional. Turns out my 1956 chimney needs a bit of work and is not that safe to have a fire in. glad we called to have it looked at.

It went well, would use them again. They were very clean and left no soot or trace of them cleaning.

Came with two men, one very young. Young one looked at the chimney and told us that it had a right angle in it, so he couldn't sweep it. Said he had never seen anything like it. This house was built during the 1970's...and we have lived in it for 14 years. The chimney has been swept many times with no problem. Boss came in a few days and said the other team had just not had the right equipment. Also said he couldn't clean the ashes in the hearth because they would clog his vacuum. I have never heard this, either.

Charlie was prompt, friendly, and courteous. He did a good job and left the area very clean. We'll be using Chimney Tek again!

Great job done in a timely manner

Very well. Left the chimney, stove, and floor clean. While I was not present, my wife said they liked to talk a lot.

I bought a "deal" through Angie's List for a $99 Chimney Inspection with $100 towards masonry repair. Initially it took me two voicemails to get through to Chimney Tek (apparently their "deal" was well received). On the third call I got a human on the the other end and managed to schedule my work. When the day arrived I received a call from Chimney Tek advising me that it looked like it was going to rain and that they didn't want to be on the roof during the rain for safety reasons. They are located in Pasadena and I checked the radar and advised them that it did not look like it was going to rain at my house (in Hereford). They said that it was a long drive and they didn't want to get up there and not be able to do the work because it was raining, so we had to reschedule. It didn't rain. The service man told me that someone would call me the following day to reschedule. Nobody called. After a two more voicemails I got a call from Vince and he was able to reschedule. He also inquired about what services I wanted and when I told him about the "deal" I had purchased he said that a sweep was not included in the inspection and that it would be an additional $30. I'm not sure how you can do an inspection without cleaning the chimney so you can see what you are inspecting. I assumed a cleaning was included, but that's not what the deal said and I bought it, so buyer beware. I expressed concern that it may rain and they would have to reschedule again. He replied that they were so far behind that they would have to work in the rain if required. Apparently it's OK to work in the rain if it's convenient for them, but not if it's convenient for me. When the day arrived for the service they called to tell me they were on their way and arrived within their stated window and got to work. The sweep and "inspection" did not take very long. I asked Nick if he was going to empty out my ash trap and he said that they did not do that. Since it was never been emptied (an 8 y/o house with infrequent fires) I asked him to show me where I would empty it. We went to the basement but there was insulation over the area where he suspected the door would be and that's as far as we got. Nick gave me the total, I paid it and he handed me the inspection sheet which I placed on the counter to review later. As Nick was leaving I asked him about the condition of the chimney since he had not said one word about the results of the inspection. He said it was "Fine." I left it at that figuring that I would get the details from the inspection sheet he had given me. When I looked at the inspection sheet later I discovered that the only thing filled out on it was my address and billing info. The rest of the form was completely blank. So I guess it was a receipt, not an inspection sheet. I felt very let down at that point with the "inspection" and felt that I had really paid $130 for a chimney sweep and chimney cap install (which they did not charge me for, by the way). Maybe they performed a thorough inspection, but it certainly didn't seem like it from either the time spent of the report given. I won't know for sure until next time I get a sweep and inspection done.

I had a very good experience. I thought they did pretty good. It was a special. If you went through Angie's List, there was a discount. So last year it was $85. This year they're charging $125. I was happy. They did a good job. They did what I asked them to and they did a little bit more.

Charlie arrived within the slated window of 10am-2pm. He was pleasant and customer-focused. He inspected and cleaned my woodstove's chimney efficiently Afterward he talked with me about my stove - complimenting whoever installed it. (It was here when I purchased my home.) He explained that I should warm up the stove before starting a big fire in it - to cut down on any backdraft. Very pleasant - I called Vince (the owner) afterward, to also sing Charlie's praises.

There was a scheduling conflict between the vendor and my tenant.
