The was an " $149 for $300 Worth of Chimney Repair, Masonry, or Tuckpointing Service" deal. My originally stated intent when purchasing this deal was for woodstove hearth repairs (replace a cracked brick, re-point some others) and (hopefully) have a broken chimney cap sleeve replaced. Preliminary work review appointment: After purchasing the deal, ChimneyTek scheduled an appointment to review the originally intended work (and in hindsight, quite a bit more). At this appointment, their service guys (2) inspected my woodstove chimney and its flashing/cap - taking several photos as part of the process. Afterwards, they informed me that they believed the chimney needed to be relined and its flashing/cap repaired. While making no commitments, after reviewing the photos, I agreed with this assessment (the damage to the existing liner and flashing/cap is clear). At this point I was supplied with a comprehensive estimate for the repairs (which I think included a discount in lieu of the originally purchased deal). I informed them that I would need to review it and get back to them. Several days later I contacted ChimneyTek and spoke with the owner (Vince?) and informed him that while I felt the estimate was reasonable, due to financial constraints I would need to defer the relining work. At this point, we agreed to a revised (pared down) work list - within the constraints of the original Angie's List deal. Actual service call: I was 100% satisfied with the services provided. Their brick mason (Curt?) was easy-going and tolerant and IMO did an excellent job. This included making a trip to a semi-local brickyard for a couple hearth replacement bricks - which turned out to be match the others exceptionally well. I would certainly do business with ChimneyTek again!

We purchased a Big Deal for a cleaning and inspection. They came on time, performed the work, and cleaned up after themselves. My husband was home during the service, and said everything went well. They made recommendations for additional work, which we are considering for the future. We would use them again.

As usual, Chimney-Tek provided professional, excellent service. They are polite, complete, and on-time. They always take the time to make sure the job is done right - even going out to the store to get longer bolts to secure the plates on my wood-burning stove. Thanks!!!

The technician came in and made some recommendations. They were supposed to order for me a cap for the chimney and install it but it never happened. I called them a couple of times and they said they were going to take care of that. When it didn't happen, I stopped calling them. The tech was good but the company sucks. I'd offered to pay for the cap but the tech told me to wait until it came in and they installed it. The tech was professional but they don't follow up. He was there when he said he was going to be there.

came out to offer a free estimate the day after i called - everyone else i called was going to charge for an estimate. work was scheduled and (for the most part) completed very quickly. there was a miscommunication about returning to waterproof the brick at a later date, but this was quickly resolved after a call to the office. I would definately use Chimneytek again if needed, and would not hesitate to recommend to friends and neighbors.

It was fine. It was probably a month after the purchase. I didn't pay anything additional. I thought the pricing was excellent.

I bought a big deal for this service. I was not happy with it; they did not do what they were supposed to do. They used the wrong color of mortar and the whole thing. I actually was prepared to have them do a lot more work and if I had been pleased with what they had done I was going to have them do a lot more. It was for masonry work on our brick walk. The color of the mortar was so dark. He promised me it would be fine and it would not be an issue. It was an issue and did not look good. So I said goodbye and had them leave. I just was not happy. I can't complain about the price; it was a big deal price. I got the impression one guy was just learning. He was the one that did most of the work.

They did a good job. Their price was fair. The quality was pretty good. Everything worked and we didn’t have to call them back. As far as I know, they came on time. I was probably at work or something. They did perfect work. I’m sure they were professional. We’re very precise about that. We really want professional people and we let people know when they aren’t.

The workers were great in every way. I feel a lot of chimney companies give you a hard sell to have linings replaced and other costly upkeep. This company makes suggestions for the future, but does not hound you with follow calls. I even got a thank you note for choosing then to provide service for my chimneys.

They came to only clean chimney. While they were up on roof, they took pictures of these cracks. Said I could get away with it for a couple more years, but seemed to be a reasonable price to repair it now.

This is the 2nd time we use them for inspection. They've done a wonderful job with detailed reports and photos. I would use them again.

After Chimney-Tek inspected the fireplace/chimney and reported the problems, Vince gave me several options to go from here. I am not using the fireplace (and never have) but wanted to ensure the condition prior to using the fireplace. I eventually want to install an insert with a blower. Vince advised that the insert would solve the problem. Vince gave me a quote and gave me a credit of the cost of this service, if I choose Chimney-Tek for the insert. I am delaying installing an insert for now. I am glad I had the fireplace/chimney inspected by Chimney-Tek. Vince was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. It's not always easy to give a potential client bad news. I appreciated the options he offered. I will hire Chimney-Tek again.

Workers were polite and explained what they would be doing, had good equipment and were on-time. My concerns: They could have done a more thorough job of cleaning out the hearth area. I found that debris still needed to be vacuumed out after they left. My biggest concern, though, was that I believe their low price chimney cleaning deal is really just a come-on to sell high priced chimney upgrades. The lead worker insisted the flue in my chimney had cracks that posed a very serious fire hazard. He showed me photos that he supposedly took of the flue. I declined his offer for the installation of a flue liner at the cost of $1700+. Afterwards, I inspected the chimney flue with a high powered flash light and did not see the cracks shown in his photographs. Could the photos he showed me be of another flue that the company uses to customers to convince them to buy expensive chimney liners? I did see cracks in crown atop my chimney, which I repaired myself. Business owners, HONESTY is the very best policy. I suggest that when this company takes photos that they include a date and time stamp on the photos to prove to the homeowner that the images are actually from their chimney.

From beginning to end I was thrilled with the professionalism, efficiency, experience, and quality workmanship from Chimney-Tek. Josh and Henry did a tremendous job at my parents house in Elkridge. Josh also discovered a faulty firewall and informed me of the safety issue. I was given a quote to get the repair and will be having them do that as well. It is refreshing to work with an honest professional company that goes the extra mile for a reasonable price. Kudos to Victor and the entire team.

The young man came in , did his job and left all within bout 15 min. I;ve had other chimney cleaners who took more time and were more "sociable". One even was dressed as a "chimney sweep".. Overall the job was okay, but "nothing to brag about".

From the initial call to the arrival of the Chimney TEK inspection professional, communications were very good. The tech called prior to arrival and was on-time for the appointment. His review of the chimney, inside and out was completed very quickly and he provided complete information on the required and recommended services to be performed on the chimney. I received the written quote from the main office within a few days, we have scheduled their return visit to make the recommended repairs. They are very busy, so the masonry work will not be started/completed until the first weeks in July.

Are selling the house, do not need deal

Overall, Vince at ChimneyTEK did an awesome job. He was very easy to work with and made it clear through both words and actions that he is a man of his word. We asked him to give us a quote to compare to another we had received earlier, and his price was extremely competitive. After discussing his quote and adding water repellent treatment to the work order, we settled on a price. Vince was fair enough to accept his 10% off Angie's List coupon even though I wasn't aware of it when we initially contacted him, which really clinched the deal for us. Vince's pay schedule was fair enough in my view - requiring 1/3 up front, 1/3 at project start, and 1/3 at project completion. He and his crew were very gracious about accepting the payments when it was convenient for us, roughly around the agreed-upon time windows. The crew did a great job rebuilding the chimney. The job took a few days longer than expected, but Vince gave us plenty of warning that this could happen, depending on how things shook out once the crew started digging into the job. Despite the increased effort the job required, Vince never tried to renegotiate the terms of our deal and followed through on everything that was promised. It was very helpful that the crew only needed access to the inside of the house for part of the job, so our schedules weren't affected too adversely. There was one miscommunication, but Vince handled it like a true professional. To sum up - a proper reinforced concrete crownwash had been specified, but the masons only left a thin mortar cap when they initially completed the structure. I called Vince and explained, and he immediately agreed that the error should and would be corrected. Within about two days, the correction had been made. As a side note, they left the forms in place on the concrete crown for about two weeks to retain moisture, which is great for proper concrete curing. I was very impressed to see that they paid attention to that detail. Overall, I was very relieved that I found a company that still puts the customer first and takes pride in the work it does. I have a solid new chimney that I am convinced is ready to last another 80 years, if not longer.

Provider was prompt and professional

The crew was helpful and thorough, reassured us about the condition of the chimneys, and found a carbon monoxide leak that could have been very dangerous. Unfortunately, the chimney had a complex shape and the liner could not be used so we are arranging a future time for them to come, cut into the chimney and prepare a more complex solution to the chimney issues. They did not charge us for the service call since the work was not completed.

Since my job was contracted in January and is still not finished, despite several repeated calls, I am obviously disappointed. Would not use this provider again but might reassess if they come finish the job. This is the first time an Angie's list recommended company has not lived up to expectation.

The folks at Chimney Tek were outstanding to work with from the very beginning, starting with my first email. They worked around our not so easy schedules, arrived on time, were careful to protect and keep our spaces clean. Completed a thorough inspection and cleaning. They were polite and did a very nice job. I will definitely use their services again.

The crew of 2 arrived at the designated time. They were careful to cover the fireplace to keep mess confined. They explained each step of what they were doing. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job (new ss liner and crown seal) done. We were very pleased. The owner, Vince, was willing to work with me to get this job done before settlement on the house. Although there were no discounts, I think this company does a pretty good job at pricing fairly. I would recommend using them for any chimney work that needs to be done.
