Alpha Plumbing

We love Alpha Plumbing and call them whenever we have a plumbing need. Each time they are prompt and professional. Brian and James (not sure if I have his name correct) did a wonderful job and also gave good advice on how to use the disposal correctly.

Got 4 bids, they were about the lowest. Called at 8:30 in the morning, Bobby the installer arrived a little after 3 (was told 1-3, hence the ding on punctuality), finished around 6:30. Even replaced a 6' run of leaky piping coming out of the heater at my request for nothing (I provided the replacement pipe). Very satisfied with how it went.

Chuck Taylor (owner) had given me a card several years ago when they ran a new service line to a house under construction I was working on. In addition to the other companies I contacted through Angie's List, I sent him a message since I had seen him in action. Of the companies I got estimates from, they were the longest to get back to me and the longest from coming out to getting the estimate to me. This wasn't a problem at all - instead of 1-2 days, it was 3-4 days. For this project and the way I presented it, I didn't need an immediate response. I went back and forth on responsiveness being A or B, but I went with A for reasons I'll detail further down. Not only was Alpha Plumbing the lowest bid that I received, they also had the longest warranty. 5 years for the inside plumbing, 10 years for the outside work vs. 1 year for the inside and 5 years for the outside. There was another bid that was competitive on cost but a bit higher on all 3 areas (water heater, inside plumbing, and outside plumbing) for a total of approximately $1000 more. The highest bid was nearly double the bid from Alpha Plumbing. I had a couple of questions about the proposal and Chuck was very prompt to get back to me. Once we decided to go with Alpha Plumbing, it was quick to get on their schedule - within a week. I had a couple more questions and received a response within a day. They showed up when they said they would, got the job done and everything was working great. We have been living with low water pressure since we bought the house 10 years ago and it is nice to have proper water pressure - we no longer are limited to one faucet at a time. The contract said Alpha would "...rough grade soil. Homeowner is responsible for final landscaping." It was backfilled about as expected, so we added grass seed and went to water it. We couldn't turn the handle on the sillcock and I realized the valve was off. When I turned it on, I was sprayed with water. I'm not sure why the handle wouldn't turn or what broke the pipe on the inside - it might have been from freezing in the winter from the hose being connected or it might have been damaged from the plumbing. I sent Chuck an email at 11PM. The next morning, I got a call from the office about it. They were ready to send someone out mid-morning. They were able to work with our schedule and send someone in the afternoon to replace the sillcock. After we had already committed to hiring Alpha Plumbing - the transmission on my truck broke. We almost decided to cancel the plumbing project and let our funds build back up. It is nice to have full pressure and we're glad we made the decision we did. Today when I was looking at Alpha's website, I realized that they have financing available, with one possibility of 12 months no interest. In hindsight, I regret not asking about financing (I asked another company that bid on the project and they had said no). I don't know if we would have financed it or not, but it would have been nice to consider all the options.

Brain came out with another gentleman (forgot his name). Both we extremely professional and were very careful when removing the old water heater. They were clearly experienced and efficient and were careful to make sure things were done correctly. Brain also helped with fixing a water hammer problem I was having as well. I would have either of these gentleman back to my place to assist with plumbing issues in the future.

Alpha Plumbing identified that it was a faulty mixer value that was the issue and not the hot water heater. I was able to get hot water again at a fraction of the cost. I am so grateful for their honesty and professionalism. They responded quickly, arrived when they promised and would definitely recommend using Alpha Plumbing.

Our experience with Alpha Plumbing was severely frustrating and aggravating because their plumbers lack critical thinking skills, listening skills and common sense. We called Alpha to fix water dripping from our kitchen ceiling directly below from a second floor bathroom. Before Alpha arrived, we determined that running the shower created NO water drips but that flushing the toilet did create water drips into the kitchen. When Alpha arrived, we told them water dripped when we flushed the toilet. Alpha plumber, Mike, and his assistant incorrectly decided the kitchen ceiling drip was coming from the shower without even looking at the toilet or testing the toilet. The whole time they were testing the shower by dumping water onto the handle, NO water dripped into the kitchen. They added caulking to the shower handle which was a leak problem but was obviously not the leak going into kitchen which we were asking them to fix. No matter how many times we explained the drip happened when the toilet was flushed, they refused to look at the toilet. They resealed the toilet only after my husband urged them to do something to the toilet, but they still insisted the toilet had nothing to do with the kitchen dripping problem. They treated us like we were stupid. After they finished working, I flushed the toilet and water immediately dripped into the kitchen. They insisted the water was leftover from the shower and ignored the fact that it only happened when I flushed the toilet. They would not listen to any reasoning and were only focused on performing the quick and easy fix to the shower. Mike arrogantly insisted that he had fixed the leak and stated that we would find no other problems. After they left, my husband cut a hole in the ceiling where the drip was. He could see a pipe coming from the toilet. When we flushed the toilet, we could see water running down the pipe. We called Alpha again and the next day they sent Dan. Dan fixed the leaking toilet pipe (proving we were correct that the kitchen drip was caused by the toilet) but insisted he would have done the same as Mike the day before. Obviously, he has no logic skills or common sense either. He also stated they do not cut drywall. Years ago, we had other plumbing work done by another plumber and they had no problems cutting drywall to get at leaks and making proper repairs. So we know plumbers sometimes cut drywall to see pipes. But Alpha plumbers are obviously lazy and only interested in quick and easy repairs instead of diagnosing the real problem. We would rather have drywall repaired then have toilet water leaking into our kitchen or anywhere else. But Alpha did not care to listen to us, their customer. We do not recommend Alpha.

Chris was very knowledgeable, and fixed the problem within a half hour of arriving, and the price was very affordable. The cost included the service call to come out for the first half hour, parts and labor. Alpha Plumbing was able to fit my job in within an hour of me contacting them, as well! I asked for their card for any future needs I may have and found they are a Christian company, which they don't boast about up front. I only knew from the fish on the business card but that was the icing on the cake for me.

Excellent service...Bobby and Jamie were very professional and courteous, showed up on time, explained their work, cleaned up everything after the job was done, and invoice was exact amount as quoted. I would definitely recommend Alpha Plumbing.

Dan was EXCELLENT. He actually troubleshot the problem first and did the appropriate and most cost effective repairs. There were water stains on my kitchen ceiling coming from the bathroom. He determined in an instant that the problem in one bathroom was that the tub spout was leaking and water was going behind the walls. In the other bathroom, there were grout gaps and caulking that needed to be redone. Replacing the tub spout did the job in the one bathroom and it is no longer leaking at all. The other bathroom I will have to replace the grout and caulk and see how that goes. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Alpha plumbing and Dan again!!! Very satisfied!!!

The technician explained the job being done, and everything was completed in a professional and timely manner. Pricing was more than fair, even with some drywall that had to be removed.

Job was performed and completed perfectly, down to the caulking at the end. Plumber (Brian) was able to slide into the tight space between a heating duct and the wall to get to the shut-off valve. He then continued into the confined space behind the furnace and water heater, to do the behind-the-wall portion of the tub 'hardware' replacement work. I have used Alpha multiple times before and have always been very pleased by the thoroughness, quality and expertise of their work. p.s. price included parts and labor.

Charles (Chuck) did a great job fixing the issues identified in our home inspection. He was friendly and professional and did great work. I have used Alpha Plumbing for all of my plumbing needs for the last 4 years. All of their guys have done great work and I've passed on their information to friends and my buyer for future services. I hope to find such great plumbers at my next location!

they seem to reject renovation work. visited the property but did not follow up. very unfriendly and seemed unhappy to be in downtown Baltimore.

I purchased a deal on Angie's List for a toilet installation on a Friday afternoon. Alpha Plumbing called me the same day to schedule the installation. The appointment was set for the following Friday. Mike & Liam arrived on time and got right to work. I purchased the toilet for the install and it was in my vehicle. They took it up to the 3rd floor of my home without complaint. The installation went just fine. I had also asked that the plumber take a look at a tub that wasn't draining properly. When they were all packed up and ready to go Mike gave me the price and it was only for the install. I asked about the tub, which was now draining properly, and Mike said it hadn't take much time so there would be no charge. I was extremely pleased with the service provided.

All went as planned. In fact Brian and his helper Bill arrived early. The completed the job in a reasonable time, explained the right way and wrong way of things to use a garbage disposal. The clean-up after themselves and the place was just as when they walked in the door. Both were friendly and polite as well as knowing their job. We just moved to Maryland and are establishing all our trade men in our new area and now have a plumbing company.

Very well. Before the job was to be performed, the office personnel contacted me to select a new toliet which I did. They removed the ugly gold toliet from the 70s, took all the boxes and debris. They were very neat. The day before, I heard a noise from the gas meter resulting in the fire department being sent out by BG& E to shut down the gas to the house. The plumber inspected the gas line and explained to me the cause of the noise from the gas meter. I was relieved to find out there was "no problem" with the gas line and it was turned back on. The plumber installed a new gas stove which I had delivered that morning. The plumber and the plumber's helper worked very efficiently but there was a lot to do. I was very pleased with their work, they were upfront regarding the fees they charged for labor, cost of any parts, etc. They installed a new kitchen faucet which I purchased and needed to be replaced. I highly recommend this company without reservation. The plumber and his assistant were there for over 3 1/2 hours doing this work and my final bill was $1,039.46 which included the cost of the Kohler toliet and installation which was $592 included in the total amount paid.

Brian was the plumber who came to our home. We had an appointment for 1 pm but he called and ask if he could come sooner. His demeanor was excellent, he was polite and professional. As soon as he introduced himself he looked at the job and went right to work. The finished job was very professional and quick. I do a lot of my own work but in this case the main sewer line needed reconfigured to work properly with connection to the new sink line. I was amazed at how quick he repositioned the line and completed the fittings. There cost is right in line with others in the area and I would hire them again.

Chris is awesome! This was no easy job due to broken of stub and no access port. He managed to open the space in a way the new fitting covered and worked in a really tight space. I would have had to tear open the wall (a big job starting at $700 for a new panel!) if Chris was not so talented and good humored!! Beautiful job and tub fully restored and tested in an hour. Good workman (like my carpenter grandfather) who completely cleans up his work area. This is top notch service! (Even my grouchy 15 yr old cat liked him!)
