Alpha Plumbing

My stack froze at the foundation of the house. The 2nd floor bathroom drains were not properly draining and water started pouring from the ceiling of the 1st floor one monrning. I called numerous plumbers and Alpha Plumbing was the company that was able to come out the very same day. AP's plumber diagnosed the situation and helped explain everything to me. Alpha Plumbers fixed the plumbing while I was at work which made it very convenient for me. Since I was not at home while the work was being done, I had some questions about the job as well as how to prevent it from happening in the future. They were willing to come back out to my house to help answer some questions and help me look for my water shut-off valve. I would highly recommend this company.

We needed to get a plumber (and electrician) on short notice and Alpha Plumbing was extremely accommodating. Buddy came that night to give an estimate, which was reasonable. Buddy was knowledgeable and we trusted his expertise. Less than two days later Buddy and Matt came to do the work. They were professional, efficient, and friendly. They cleaned up nicely before they left. The whole process from the initial phone call to the fixing of our problem was easy with no surprises--just the way a home owner wants a repair and installation to work. I highly recommend Alpha Plumbing and would use them again.

First off, these guys should wear capes. As long as it takes me to change out a disposall they were in and out in an hour and a half or so. Took apart everything from the sink down to the place where the pipe exits the cupboard, then got out the snake and cleared the clog about 15 feet down the line. Then he put the whole thing back together. It was thoroughly painless. The charge was reasonable; the work was a dream. Next week the copper inlet line to the water heater sprang a leak due to some oxidizing of the copper. Looked it up on the internet and the prognosis was not good. Buddy shows up and he is done in an hour or so having replaced all the relevant pieces of copper and telling me that when he has seen this before, it was everywhere on the copper, but my lines all look pretty good. Best news I have heard in a while. So what else can I say, they came and made the problems go away in a helluva hurry and the charges were not bad at all. If you have a problem, you should think about using these guys; and if you decide not to, you should think again.

The plumber arrived on time promptly at 3PM and because I couldn't be there, I left a detailed note for him. My husband was the 'adult present' and appreciated having the information written down. The plumber determined that our garbage disposal was leaking from the bottom and needed to be replaced - it was 17 years old. The replacement was made quickly.

Very good. Service provider was VERY professional, clean and polite. I am planning another project and will use their services.

The receptionist was friendly, able to give me an appointment within the hour (although it was not an emergency). along with a preliminary cost quote. The technician called before he came, arrived at the time he said he would, and in addition to being quite handsome, gave his name and shook my hand before he entered. He invited me to look at the problem and gave a recommendation for replacement. The garbage disposal installation took less than 30 minutes and the technician cleaned the area after he finished. I didn't rate on "price" because I don't know the average cost of this type service; the $327 included service call fee.

I can't say enough about how great Alpha Plumbing was -- efficient, prompt, effective, courteous, and -- to my mind -- affordable (or at least very comparable price-wise from what I could tell of their competition). They got in touch with me within an hour of my initial Angie's List schedule request, penciled me in for the very next day, and called me as soon as there were any scheduling changes (they asked to move the appointment up from the afternoon to the morning, which worked fine for me), and were incredibly punctual. They only took about 40 minutes to do all the work necessary, stuck around for a few minutes to ensure that there were no leaks or remaining problems, and gave me useful, polite tips on how to better maintain my pipes in the future. I called alpha plumbing at 9 am and they were able to send someone out by 1 pm same day to repair/replace a loose kitchen faucet. The plumber, Shawn, was very professional. He diagnosed the issue with the old faucet and recommended replacing it. I already had bought a replacement so he installed it on the spot. It took less than the original estimate of 1 hr so I was only charged for 45 minutes. I don't know how their prices compare to other shops, but they were honest, straight forward, and did not try to drag things out in order to bill more time. Overall an excellent experience.

The plumber, Brian, went as far as finding the size we needed and then returning it since it was dented. A job well done and very professional and prompt.

The copper pipe that carried waste water out of the house was leaking. The technician replaced approximately 2 - 3 feet of copper pipe with PVC pipe. This was just another great job by the Alpha repairmen. They always have what they need to do the job and most importantly, they know HOW to do the job. I call no one but Alpha Plumbing to do work at my home.

In preparation for an upcoming kitchen remodel, I am installing a utility sink in my garage to be used as a temporary kitchen sink. I contacted Alpha plumbing around 9:00 a.m. and they said they could have someone to my house as early as noon today. The plumber arrived on time (in fact a half hour early) and called me when he was about a half hour away. I left work and met him just as he was pulling up to my house with the plumbing truck. I showed the plumber what was needed and he said he could knock it out in about 3-hours. I am so glad I didn't try to tackle this job myself. The toughest part (in my eyes) was drilling the three lines through the 12" of concrete and rebar to hook up the water and return line to the sewer pipe in the basement. A massive 3" drill bit was needed for that task and it was well worth the money for that part alone. (Where in the heck do you even find a drill bit like that?!?) He worked quickly and it was obvious this guy was a professional. He cleaned up the work site and I was very impressed by his work. His truck was well stocked with all the parts needed for this job and many more. He installed a total of six shutoff valves. Two in the basement, two for the water lines and two for the drain lines so the pipes could be drained and winterized (the lines terminated in the garage, which could freeze). I didn't have the utility sink on site with me, however I felt he went above and beyond by pre-configuring the J-trap and pipe needed to connect the sink once it arrives. The bag traps that come with the sink are notoriously cheap, and it was impressive to see him measure and cut the PVC pipes in minutes. I am embarrassed to admit that that simple task would have consumed a Saturday morning at the hardware store for me :( I'll need to glue the pipe and possibly make a cut or two to make it fit the sink, however he took the job to the point where even I should be able to finish! The price seemed fair with an industry standard $80 an hour. He worked fast, didn't waste time and was finished around the 3-hour mark. It would have taken me 4-times as long and I probably would have done it all wrong LOL. I will not hesitate to call Alpha plumbing back in the future. Job well done!

We had an old Culligan water softener in the basement that had been leaking for the past year. I had Culligan out twice and Hague out once and no one could seem to fix the leak. I finally got fed up and called Alpha Plumbing yesterday morning to come out to disconnect the system and put in a new piece of pipe. I called Alpha at 9:30 am and was told someone could be at my house by 3pm. Chris and Josh arrived by 2pm. They knew exactly how to do the job and had the old system out in no time. They offered to haul the tanks away and for a small fee it was worth it to have them do the job. Saved me a trip to the dump, plus those tanks are heavy! I am planning on having Alpha come back next month to replace some old shut off valves in the basement.

Alpha plumbing was great. They provided very prompt service and Charles showed up at the exact time of the appointment. I had a 15 year old sink and faucet that was builder grade and had started to leak so I went ahead and upgraded to a deeper sink and better faucet while also replacing the garbage disposal. They were able to uninstall the old and install the new within 2 hours and did a great job (I know it would have taken me all day). Would definitley recommend them to everyone!

It's good having a reliable go-to plumber. This is the 3rd time we've used Alpha Plumbing, and I would use them again. I am a DIYer who sometimes needs professional assistance. When I've called Alpha, I get an appointment scheduled when I want it. Technicians have always been prompt, friendly and knowledgeable, and: strong. I've had two, heavy 1-piece toilets installed by one guy. Price is competitive and fair. This visit was prompted because after remodeling the bathroom, the toilet flange was too low, and I couldn't set the toilet properly even when using flange extenders and an extra thick wax ring. Sometimes you have to know when to stop and call the experts. I did, and thanks to Alpha, the toilet was securely mounted with a tenth of the effort that it took me.

Since other potential contractors wanted to re-route the drain system and install a sump tank below the lower level floor, the tank burster system was very appealing to us. The pipe also went under an addition which did not have a lower level under it. If successful it would keep the original system intact without a big impact ton the house and long fix time would be avoided. Alpha did a initial scoping of the pipe location and we found the under floor pipe was accessible. This job required breaking through the center of the bathroom floor and digging down to the pipe. Breaking the pipe to provide access to the pipe. Out side required that they dig down eight feet to expose the pipe. I was concerned about possible damage to the foundation of the addition and or cave in of dirt. The crew inserted a steel caisson into the hole for protection. They then inserted a heavy cable into the damaged pipe and attached the pipe burster to the inside end of the cable. They also attached a 20' section of HDPVC to the burster. This HD PVC is flexible. The outside device uses hydraulic pressure to ratchet the burster through the old pipe breaking it completely and replacing the old pipe with the new pipe. Following this process they installed new piping to the original pipe under the floor and new pipe outside to the septic tank. The hole was filled in out side and the lower level floor was brought back up to the original floor level with concrete. The crew did a nice job of cleanup. The entire job was completed under seven hours. We were quite pleased with the work and very happy to have found this plumber. One of our daughter's knows one of the Alpha people and that lead us to the company originally. I had seen the company listed on Angie's list and was then able to obtain more information.. It was during a review of the company's web site I discovered the bursting technology and the benefits of the system.

They were very friendly, professional and efficient. They removed the old copper piping that corroded and replaced it with PVC, even adjusting the angle to allow water to drain better. They covered all surface near work areas and cleaned up, leaving it the way they found it. Their hourly rate seemed reasonable, about $60-$65/hr. The service call charge was about $135. It only took them about 30 minuted to do all the actual work and that is what they charged for the labor, even though they were probably here closer to an hour looking at the problem and getting material ready.

Chris came out to do a few general plumbing projects in our house. He installed a new toilet, connected a new sink, checked some leaky faucets and slow drains. Overall, we were pleased with his work and will call Alpha Plumbing again.
