In June 2018 my crawlspace had 9 inches of water below my first floor, as a mother of 3 small children I started to panic. Four companies called me from Home Advisor and I gravitated towards the Affordable, I spoke with Jay and she made me feel very comfortable when applying for my financing, she gave my husband and me several different options to choose from. George was the only inspector that crawled underneath our home with the amount of standing water that was present, no other inspector took the time to do this. They sent Joe and his crew to perform the work, the bonus was the foreman Joe lives on the Eastern Shore which made me feel very comfortable considering most companies travel over the bridge to perform work. I don't know how they did this work considering the circumstances however once the job was finished, I received a packet with before, during and after pictures of the job. My crawlspace is now nice and dry. I am so grateful this company made our home safe and dry.

I hired Affordable over 2 other Waterproofing companies in the area. What I liked about the company was very simple. They were very passionate to help my family under the circumstances of my flooded basement. My wife is very pregnant and Kelly let us keep the negative air machine for 2 weeks to scrub the air and dust. The project took a week and even though the county took a couple days to come out and inspect my home it gave me reassurance that the job was installed correctly. I called late one night because my schedule changed for work and Jai answered the phone. I was truly expecting her to be an answering service. It has rained and snowed for 3 weeks and my basement is bone dry! Do not be fooled by sales tactics and gadgets. Go with Affordable for there superb customer service and hard-working employees who truly care about their customers.

I called Affordable on a Sunday evening and Kelly the GM picked up. I was in tears telling her my basement was flooded with two inches of water, I live in Baltimore City and just brought my home 3 months prior. She immediately set up an emergency appointment the very next day with George. George made me feel very comfortable in moving forward with Affordable. Three other companies came out to my home and never offered to pull a permit. George was the only one who recommended a permit. Vince did a beautiful job and took the extra time to clean. I talked to Kelly about the dust and she agreed to send Holly and Angela out for a day to clean. This company has made my home a safer place to live, I would highly recommend this company to anyone in the area. They are the best!

We hired Affordable Basement Waterproofing to install a French drain, sump pump, and stairwell drain in our rowhome in DC in August of 2018. What should have been completed in a day or two turned into a nightmare.The first day they jackhammered the trench and removed the dirt which they then spread out in my backyard that was being remodeled at the time (note that I had scheduled no one to be working those two days so ABW could finish). I realized this fact only after viewing my security camera footage later and seeing that they decided not to haul the dirt away in their truck. This extra dirt later had to be removed by my other contractor further delaying their schedule.The most amazing part was that they somehow spilled wet concrete all around my basement workroom floor (and splattered all over my workbench and tools) and then proceeded to wash it down the floor drain of my 92 year old house. Needless to say the concrete plugged the floor drain and my basement flooded the following weekend during a downpour, which is how I discovered the clog. Never once in five years of living in our home has the basement drain clogged and prior to this work, the only way for rain water to exit the stairwell was by running under the door to the floor drain, so it was used constantly.I had a plumber out to try to clear the drain and he was luckily able to punch through some of the concrete with an auger but in doing so broke part of the pipe. Not only did ABW not pay for the plumber but they refused to pay a few hundred dollars to have the pipe fixed. They did offer to split the $100 emergency plumbing bill but then charged my credit card for the full amount after all the work was completed.It is not over yet. When the first crew finished, they were unable to build any slope in the concrete floor to match the original conditions and ended up leaving a 2 gap beneath my door. I had to screw a piece of wood to the bottom of the door to keep bugs and animals out until it could be fixed. Not only was there concrete in our floor drain, but the speed drain and it is 2 drainpipe that they had installed at the bottom of our back stairwell was also filled with concrete. The pipe had so much concrete in it that the opening was reduced to about a 1/2. They finally came back exactly one month later (started August 29, finished September 29) to fix the concrete beneath the door and replace the speed drain. During that time I had to live with an inoperable door and I could not put my work room back together because I knew they had be back to make another mess before all was said and done. We also had to live with shelves and tools in the main, finished portion of our basement for the entire month while the work room was out of commission. Originally they only agreed to replace the concrete beneath the door which was too low, they found that no vapor barrier had been installed above the gravel before the concrete was poured the first time - something I had insisted on but no o

Initial work and customer service, awesome. Guess paying almost $7K makes companies act nice. Portion of the work failed and they had to come back out. Missed appointments, no call back and major attitudes because GM father was I'll. How was I to know, when staff told me to contact her. Had to make several calls to have my walls put back in, once they corrected an error from initial work. The work was sloppy and incomplete, but after it took company almost 3 weeks to return my calls to complete the job and another month to actually come out, I was exhausted. I'll call someone to repair my wall properly so it can be repainted. ABW cut the wall to locate water, but had no desire to put everything back to the way it was, as Kelly said they would. Kelly said all I needed was paint. By the way appointment to put drywall back was 9-11 on 11-10-18, they arrived 2 hrs late with NO supplies and had to run to Home Depot. The guy doing the work was really nice. But as a whole OMG, the niceness you received initially was gone and the warranty they talk about is a complete hassle. Jay wasn't to bad, but she was dealing with her sick mother, so I can only guess that's why she came across annoyed with my complaint when the appointment ran 3 hrs over. If u need this company, please make sure they aren't dealing with family emergencies. I understand, so additional staff would b required in this instance. The customer has no way of knowing these things when calling. To be safe, just don't use this company. The lifetime guarantee isn't what they claim if your NOT prepared to fight and make several phone calls. I already paid to have my floors and walls put back and now because of the awful job, I have to do it again. They also left the baseboards stained from water and Kelly told worker not to take care of it. I have pictures before and after and screenshots of nasty text msgs. and if I could post, I absolutely would. Kelly the General Manager is the worse if the fix is coming out her companies account, but she'll say whatever she can to gain your business. NEVER AGAIN.

In the middle of November, this company installed a water management system in my basement and two weeks later water was back in my basement. Water was found in three different locations. This occurred after I waited the recommended seven days and hired a company to come out and restore my wall. When I called the company, informing them of the situation, they pretty much told me we have received a lot of water and that’s the reason I still have water! Didn’t make much since because that’s what I just paid them to fix. After heated conversations with Kelly, the GM, they decided to come out and fix the problem. They even agreed to put back the dry wall, that wasn’t even finished being put up. While Kelly isn’t the easiest person to communicate with, she attempt to reassure me everything would be ok. After about a week Billy and another guy were scheduled to come to my home to correct the problems. Billy said over the phone to me that the guys should have sealed the crack and the window well Correctly the first time, and if it was him he would have done that With my work schedule, as a Registered Nurse, I am often busy with work, therefore, I decided to leave a spare key, for Billy to enter my home to make the repairs. I really thought I was working with a trustworthy company. I spoke to Billy via telephone telling him where the key was and requested he only enter through the back basement door. I specifically told him I did not want contractors walking though my house. I even locked the upstairs basement door so there would be no reason for them to come up my stairs. When I looked on my video footage, I see Billy, walking through my house and coming in and out my front door. I even see another guy going over to my kitchen sink doing something...I was completely shocked and appalled. I contacted the company and spoke with Jai, I think she’s one of the managers, regarding the issue and she basically apologized and told me the situation is done... they are licensed and bonded! Even more flabbergasted, I told her I was leaving work to account for my belongings and valuables. Furthermore, if anything is missing they would be accountable. This is on top of all the other issues that have occurred with the company. When I asked Billy why is he walking throughout my house, he said he wasn’t walking a mile to get to the front of the house!! I said to him there is a walkway right next door to my house and there is no reason for him to be up my stairs! What if my dog wasn’t crated?! I pray that my basement NEVER, EVER, leak or flood again because I would hate to have to contact them again!!!! The lifetime warranty is great, but the hassle, confusion, and mess you have to go through is not worth it with this company. Honestly, to be safe, I would probably go with another company, and just spend the extra money to avoid the error of even having them come back out!!!! The job should’ve been done correctly the first time!!!

Inspection services very professional and knowledgeable. Thought the communication on clearer details on the restoration portion (or lack of) of the project was needed.

Service follow up could be better.

First of all, I’m in the Army away on assignment and these people made my life impossible for it. They supposedly give free estimates and charged me $75 for a “FHA/VA certification” only to provide an estimate and say they can’t provide that certification because there is a water issue. I literally hired them to specifically bring a moisture meter to detect if there was moisture and they didn’t bring any of that instead the unprofessional and rude general manager said “I can just look at this wall it needs waterproofing it’ll cost 4000”. What the actual... So when I called them for a refund since they didn’t provide the services requested or what they hired for the lady became belligerent and rude after her own partner promised to provide that refund since they did in fact not give me a “FHA/VA certification”. When we agreed they’d give me a refund they instead called my realtor saying I was “harassing them”. No, it’s not harassment to want your money back for unrendered services but it definitely seems unprofessional to start yelling about having years of experience and not needing to bring the tools you said you would to properly inspect the property as requested. When I said I’d just leave a bad review on HomeAdvisor they said “you can’t do that since you’re not that homeowner!”... I hired them. I paid them. I have the homeowners written Express permission to do this... I called HomeAdvisor and told them either this company violated your policies by conducting this inspection OR they are liars and thieves. HomeAdvisor agreed I had every right to leave a review and that the case appeared to be that they had misled me. For the record, my realtor doesn’t care if you ask for her to give you business one day then threaten to report her the next because you’re not her client I am, and her company just like the Maryland real estate commission prefers clients happy with their realtors than clients being defrauded by a shady business like yours.

They were flexible with scheduling, sent qualified people to do each portion of the work, handled everything, and gave me what seemed to be a terrific price.

Company puts their client first and will take the extra step to accommodate the need of the client

It’s a very labor intensive job and Vince our contractor did a great job. It’s messy with concrete dust but he did eveything he could to keep my home clean. Solved the problem.

The initial meeting with the engineer was extremely helpful. He set clear expectations was extremely well versed in his explanation.

After the waterproofing was done I have been working to replace the paneled walls in my basement that they had to cut 4' up because of my leak areas. To early to tell about the leaking, but so far so good.

This company is the model of A+++ customer service. Jai had left me a voice message concerning the scheduled appointment I made from Home Advisor. She was able to push up the appointment to meet my schedule needs. Ron came out to estimate the job. This was my first estimate for this project and I was skeptical to hire them prior to other quotes. He totally understood my concerns and said if I scheduled the installation at this time they would take $500.00 off the cost as well as give me a 30 day price match guarantee. On top of that the lifetime warranty on the work, labor and sump pump made it a no-brainer. Kelly contacted me the day before installation to verify everything and answer any questions I had. Joe and his team showed up on time, placed plastic around to minimize the dust and promptly did the work. They finished in approximately 4 hours. Upon completion he went over the instructions as well as ensuring I was comfortable with the outcome before my final payment. 2 days later I received a package in the mail from the office. In the package were printed photos of the different phases of the job. I could not be more pleased!! Thank You Affordable Basement Waterproofing, Inc. It is a wonderful thing to no longer worry about puddles in my basement!!!

Mike and his crew were prompt and efficient, and did excellent work for us.

This contractor has not upheld his word and has ignored my calls after he did not show up to correct mistakes that he made when he attempted to waterproof my basement.

Technicians were very professional and efficient on one of the hottest days of the year.

My experience was very good. I needed a backup sump pump installed. I contacted Affordable Basement Waterproofing, they gave me a good price, very affordable, and the work was completed the following day. Come to find out the pump never worked. Found out 3yrs later right before the warranty expired. The company changed the pump but the battery went out and they wanted to charge me for a new battery. Never again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THE OWNER WILL RIP INTO YOU WHEN YOU COMPLAIN AND WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR EQUIPMENT
