"Thanks very much, [Member Name Removed]. Really enjoyed working with you and [Member Name Removed]. And the projects were fantastic: challenging. We had fun. Does not happen all the time. Looking forward to the next one. Jim M."
"Thanks for the opportunity and the Review. I'm pleased you are happy with the work and the service. Regards, Jim M."
"Hi, [Member Name Removed] Thanks for the Review. It is really appreciated. John and I enjoyed working with you and yours, and we enjoyed your project. Your kitchen "was in our sweet spot" and I think the ball went out of the park. Thanks for being a great customer. Jim M."
He as well as the subcontractors to do the carpentry and the quartz installation kept their appointments promptly. Jim Mittelcamp always phoned me to tell me when to expect him and the other workers, and he inspected the work as it progressed and when it was completed. A special touch is that he saved me a trip to the quartz countertop dealer, which he originally proposed, buy bringing samples to my home, one of which was a very good choice.
Jim Mittelcamp was a pleasure to work with because of his professional knowledge, his easy-going personality, his patience and willingness to answer questions, and his people skills. The next time I need remodeling work, I will very likely have JJM Services do it.
"Hi, [Member Name Removed] Regards to you and the family. Hope you are all well, and have a great 2016.!! Jim M."
Amazingly beyond our highest expectations. We cannot say enough good things about Jim Mittelcamp and about Ron, his extremely talented sub-contractor, as wel as Dan, Jason, Nick, Danny, Joe the floor guy, and everyone that Jim brought to work on our house.
We have an unusual house that is like a duplex, sort of two apartments connected by a pantry area. We first thought that we would just spruce up one kitchen with a new floor, backsplash, granite countertop, stove, and hood, and get new cabinets as well as countertop, stove, backsplash and hood for the second kitchen. We are teachers, so we didn't want to spend unnecessary arms and legs to make these changes happen. We had lots of contractors give us estimates, but Jim Mittelcamp of JJM LLC seemed the most reasonable and willng to work with us
While we were planning our kichens, we decided to do our own backsplashes as glass and grout mosaics on cement board. Jim arranged for Ron and his men to cut the cement board to our specifications, and we worked on the mosaic horizontally in a separate space while the renovations were done. We finished the mosaics and Jim's men installed them. To cut to the end of the kitchens story, we are delighted with all the work. One very special aspect of Jim's contractors is that they are talented thinkers and problem solvers. It's the details of framing or lighting newly renovated areas that require the energy and imagination to transition between surfaces and materials, Every time we found a problem, Jim and Ron found a solution. Jim also designed a real wood pantry complete with step stool that works perfectly for our needs.
Before the work began, we went on several field trips with Jim to look at granites and floors, and ended up with the best floor we have ever seen anywhere! Our northern kitchen now has beautiful old remilled wooden planks of different widths and shades. Jim's subcontractor Joe Young was so passionate about hand sanding and oiling and finishing the floors, working on every plank's edges one by one, that the floor has become the star of the kitchen. (Our southern kitchen already has the same hundred year old pine that is present in the rest of our Lauraville house, so no need to change that floor. )
Did we mention all the work it took Ron's men to take up the nightmare subfloor and actually rebuild a decent floor underneath the new floor? Or the fact that they carefully carried every appliance and piece of furniture so that they caused no damage to any part of our house while they worked on it? Did we mention Jim's attention to lighting, so that the mosaics could twinkle and show off color and shapes?
.It cost us $33,000 for both kitchens, and we could not be happier with the results.
At the same time that these kitchen renovations were going on, we were getting estimates from other companies for our wrap around porch. Our outside steps ( all 5 entrances) and railings and edges of the porch were looking tattered, and becoming hazardous to walk on. We did not plan on rebuilding the porch at the same time, but it became obvious that in order to maintain our 100 year old house, we would need to preserve safe access to it by fixing all that was wrong with the porch. We made the difficult decision of spending more money, and, after getting estimates from other contractors, asked Jim if this was also something he and Ron could handle. Our porch today is a rebuilt masterpiece, built to last for a very long time, and really stately, not to mention safe. New railings, new risers, new flights of stairs, new materials in the complete surround that gets all the gutter drips, just fantatstic.
The new wrap around porch cost us $20,000. Yes, that is a lot of money for us. We are certain that it will not need to be fixed in a year., We feel that this investment is money well spent.
While our renovations were going on, our basement flooded with a foot of water. Our basement has been wet since we bought the house i27 years ago. Jim investigated why there was water, found a solution to the problem, and we have a dry basement for the first time since 1988!
He hired a subcontractor to regrade and add clay near the house, recommended and followed up with cutting down a tree disturbing the gutters, and more. He asked Ron's men to clean the gutters three times. Jim's subcontractors unclogged a major pipe leading away from our house. The unexpected resolution to our basement nightmare cost about $1500.
Did we mention that Jim drove across town to bring us a spare sump pump, just out of being a nice guy and genuinely wanting to help?
Jim and the people who work with him are multi talented enough to diagnose all kinds of challenges. Jim, as the general contractor, has enough contacts to understand and to fix the problem, and to follow through. We probably have forgotten to mention a dozen touches that made these renovations wonderful.
We are hoping that we won't be spending money on our house for a while, but if we ever need any work done, Jim is the first person we will call.
My kitchen cabinets now have exactly the look (and color) I want, and the new top cabinets match the bottom cabinets that are years old but otherwise in good shape. Without Jim, I would never have had the guts to order just top cabinets and paint the bottom cabinets, but I am very happy with the result. He also figured out the perfect back splash height and provided new window sills. These are the small details I would have overlooked but makes the kitchen look more finished.
So I appreciate Jim's knowledge, taste, and his willingness to accept my ideas and make them work. I also think that the painter, cabinet installer, and plumber that he hired were excellent and went out of their way to fix issues that I didn't even realize that I had. Who knew that people were supposed to be able to fit things in the space under their sink? Because of the way my old kitchen faucet had been installed, I had very little room before, but now that the new faucet has been installed differently, I can fit lots of items in the space.
I now actually enjoy spending time in my kitchen!
"[Member name], thanks for the kind words. It was a "fun little project." I too think it came out well. I am glad you are pleased, and am grateful for the opportunity. Jim M."
We needed to remodel a ground level living space to accommodate out-of-town visitors The 1st step was to install a shower, although I worried that it couldn't be done in the available space. Jim Mittlekamp evaluated the situation and within 45 minutes had a plan and a drawing. Work started in less than 2 weeks and was completed on schedule.
I was very pleased with the job and would say that this was one of the best remodeling experience I've had. Would like them to do more work on my home
"Hi, Mr. [member name removed], Thanks for the Review and for the opportunity. It was a tricky little project; and it came out well. I appreciate your input and ideas as we went along. Hope to work with you again. Jim M."
We hired JJM (aka Jim Mittelkamp) to renovate and update our 75 year old bathroom.
We were very impressed with Jim from the beginning and cancelled all other estimates we had scheduled after our first meeting with him. He had a detailed, honest and practical approach to our project. He was organized and helpful with every step of the process. He genuinely cared about making our family happy. His years of experience and knowledge proved very helpful when he came with us to pick out the tile and the fixtures of the bathroom. He knew which materials, tile and fixtures would work best for us. I can't tell you how pleased I am with how our bathroom turned out. This is how I hoped and dreamed the bathroom would turn out to be. John and construction crew were always hard working and on time. They were reliable, helpful and very polite. They always cleaned up afterward and were responsive to any questions we had.
Their estimate was accurate and even a bit less than I expected. I recommended JJM to several of my neighbors who are currently interested in kitchen or bathroom remodeling, especially after seeing the new bathroom I have from JJM. I wish we had discovered them years ago when we had updated our kitchen. When I compare the process of JJM to the other contractor we had, JJM was by far superior. We will be using JJM in the future for any home improvement job we have. Thanks Jim, John and Elijah for our gorgeous bathroom!!!!
My project began with a kitchen remodel in a >100 year old house. This small kitchen was an add-on to the rear of the house at some point (the kitchen was originally in the basement). Did I mention the kitchen is really small? My vague idea when Jim first came to look at the job included new cabinets and countertops, a pass-through into the dining room to open up the space a bit, and possibly a skylight to lighten it up. From that vague idea, I ended up with a completely new first floor. Jim really listens to his clients to figure out what they actually want. He spent a huge amount of time on the design and its modifications. He tried different kitchen layouts to ensure the best one. He brought the head of the construction team, Ron Hamel, to inspect everything before finalizing the plans. The pass-through is elegantly designed with glass door cabinets facing both rooms, and the trim around the cabinets matches the original trim in the house. The kitchen was completely gutted, including shoring up the slanted floor so hardwood could be properly installed. New insulation in the crawl space under the kitchen was added. The kitchen work included cherry cabinets, granite countertops, new plumbing and lighting, a toe kick heater, new appliances and tile backsplash. A new ceiling, crown molding and chair rail were added to the dining room, everything repainted and the chandelier moved. The molding around all the new doorways and kitchen windows was specially milled to match the original moldings in the house. Jim designed a custom cabinet beneath the pass-through in the dining room as well as one in the breakfast room. But the real genius was Jim?s idea to raise and enlarge the openings into the kitchen, dining room and breakfast room. A short wall was removed and a new back door installed. The goal was to maintain the character of the old house while making these dramatic improvements. The result is amazing- the small first floor rooms are opened up to each other and the view from one room to the next is inspiring. Once the project was underway and furniture moved around, Jim suggested having the oak parquet floors in the rest of the first floor refinished and he handled that as well. All of this was done for not much more than I thought I would spend on the kitchen alone!
Ron Hamel and his crew did outstanding work: they were careful, courteous and handled all the typical surprises found in old houses with great professionalism. The only minor issue is that this team is very busy, and once the job is nearing completion it can drag on a bit as they begin other jobs. In addition to the high quality design and workmanship,
JJM Services provides very individualized customer service. Jim finds each job and client an engaging challenge and by the time you hire him he will be like a member of your family. It is definitely an enjoyable way to remodel; I highly recommend JJM Services!
Our kitchen was a complete gut and remodel job. Wall came down. New walls went up. New lighting. New electric. New appliances, counters, cabinets, floors. They did an amazing job! Work was impeccable. Workers cleaned each day to help eliminate dry wall dust and mess after the project was completed. They blocked off the construction zone to protect other areas of the house during the remodel.
We would highly recommend this company to friends!!!
We would certainly use them again on other home projects!!
"Great Customers!! Thanks. Jim M."
WOW ! Love Love Love and my Husband.....loves loves loves and that's even a bigger WOW ! We will be forever grateful to Jim.
My focus in the Master Bath was on " Marble " ( the hardest part of the job ) a shower that would be a joy to be in and use, a linen cabinet that would handle much more then just sheets & towels and a window that I could have light coming in instead of a window totally covered by a darkening shade. My focus on the Closet was to enlarge it to a " walk-in " with all the amenities important to us.
The finished Shower & Closet " OMG " unbelievable ! You would have to see it to believe it and Jim has pictures. Even the construction crew were wowed by the finished product. New window no shades I can actually see a window for the 1st time in 21 years.
Jim takes great pride in his work and his expertise to detail from " Design " to " Products " , where to shop and goes with you from start to finish in my opinion is " 2ND to None"
I will be calling on Jim again and already have with any future " projects " or " repairs " needing attention in my home.
