Jeff was very personable and professional. The painting was expertly and neatly done. He took in stride the suggestions from the elderly residents of the house. By the time Jeff and his crew finished the job my father, who was at first a skeptic, admitted he was impressed with the finished product.

I found Jeff on The List and I'm glad I did! I called him and we met about a month before I was ready to paint the first and second floor of my single family home. Jeff called back the next day with an estimate and a start date and then emailed me a copy. He called about a week before painting to make sure I was ready to commence work. I told Jeff that I would just be doing the first floor at this time because of some financial emergencies that had suddenly popped up. Jeff was fine with that and we decided to do the first floor the week of 4/29 and if I was okay financially, we would do the second floor around 5/15. Jeff and his crew arrived on Monday 4/29 and worked through mid-day Friday 5/3. The approximate cost listed above is for the first floor. To be specific: Jeff painted the entry foyer, dining room, living room, family room, kitchen, kitchen closet, powder room, laundry room, all the wood trim in the rooms and around the windows, the stairway leading to second floor and the second floor hallway. His crew sanded the walls and patched a number of holes. They also removed all the lighting fixtures and hauled away the fixtures that I wanted trashed. It was a lot of work, but Jeff and his crew did a wonderful job, for a reasonable price. They were always on time, courteous and professional. The quality of work was excellent. Because of the type of paint and "faux finish" used by the previous owners of our house, we discovered that even after sanding and two coats of paint, the designs on the walls were "bleeding" through. Jeff explained that to do the job right we would need a third coat. I agreed. That did the trick. What I really like about Jeff is that he said what he was going to do and except for the extra coat of paint, there were no surprises. The extra coat of paint cost us a little more, but Jeff stressed we needed to do it and I totally agreed. I really like that Jeff treats the painting of your house like it's his house. If you don't need to do something, he will tell you. If you do need to do something, he'll tell you. Unlike some other contractors I've hired, I never felt that Jeff was suggesting things to jack up the price. On the contrary, Jeff was always suggesting ways that we could achieve the look I was going for and keep it within budget. I also appreciated that Jeff explained what he and the crew would be doing every day so we knew when to remove lamps, kitchen appliances on the counter, etc. He helped keep the craziness and chaos of painting a house (with two adults, three kids and two very active dogs) down to a minimum. It went great overll. We knew that the paint supply company had a big sale coming and Jeff was able to compare his price with the sale price in order for us to have the best price.

We were extremely pleased with the work and would definitely recommend Jeff to anyone. He made a nunber of suggestions to help us deal with a peeling paint problem, including having an electrician and roofer resolve some ventilation issues that had been causing the ceiling paint to peel. They worked very efficiently and were extremely professional. They came on time and never failed to show up. We have absolutely no complaints.

He did not do the job for us, but are meeting went well and all the details were discussed thoroughly.

This is the second large job Jeff and his company have done in my home. Five years ago I hired him to paint five bedrooms, 2 baths, hallway and foyer. That was a huge job and they did a fabulous job. This time he repaired a nasty hole in my ceiling left by a plumber after a pipe leak. He painted my kitchen, dining area , sitting area, family room, mudroom, hallway and basement stairway and 2 exterior doors. I have many ,many windows and there was much trimwork, all done to perfection by Jeff's able bodied assistant, Erin. The drywall repair is perfect (no small feat). Jeff is a perfectionist and it shows in the quality of his work . His employees are equally devoted to doing a great job. My home looks beautiful and I was thrilled with the end result.I should also mention they are the NICEST and most trustworthy group of people you could ever want to work in your home. I will hire Jeff again whenever I need painting done. Jeff returns your call promptly, gives you an estimate that he stands by and does outstanding work at a very fair price. He also comes when he says he is coming and finishes in the time frame he gives you! I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who cares about their home and wants the best work done by the best people.

Jeff let me know what I needed to do to prepare the house. They arrived just when they said they would and went to work. They were very good about accommodating my night shift schedule. Jeff's wife, an interior designer by training, helped me choose some colors that I love and work beautifully with my newly renovated kitchen. when they were done the only evidence that they had been there was my perfectly painted house. The only problem now is the rest of the house is looking shabby...time to start saving for when I call Jeff to paint upstairs.

Overall, our experience with Jeff the Painter at Stream Valley Contracting exceeded excellent! Jeff, Erin and their crew were dependable, responsible, efficient and, as a bonus, exceptionally pleasant. Jeff provided a work schedule prior to starting the job, which was large, and had several unknowns (e.g. difficulty of wallpaper removal, which was considerable, problems with the stuck windows etc.) and finished within 1/2 hour of his predicted completion time. We have had major home renovations during the last two years and have interacted with numerous contractors, many of whom were not punctual or delivered a hard sell with many negative "watch outs" and "bewares" rather than a positive, factual approach to help the customer make a realistic decision. Jeff the Painter is one of the best contractors that we have been lucky enough to find. His estimate was close to a couple of others, but his approach, both in the preliminary estimate as well as work phases, was friendly, consumer oriented, comprehensive and holistic (he saw that the smoke detector was not working and said he would replace it if we wanted without our asking). As mentioned above, their crew was very pleasant, hard working and a lot of fun to have around. Erin is an excellent detail painter as well as an interior decorator and recommended the blinds that they picked up and installed (in two rooms). We have already offered her and Jeff another project, which they are considering. We strongly recommend Jeff the Painter at Stream Valley Contracting.

Jeff does excellent work. He is totally dependable and his prices are very reasonable. I have worked with him several times and have always been very satisfied.

Jeff was punctual, courteous, and took real pride in his work. Jeff responded quickly to my request for an estimate. His price was the best of several I received, he was located near the Loch Raven area, and he had many positive reviews, so we went with his company. The work took a couple of days-which we agreed to beforehand, as we were in process of moving furniture out at the same time. This was an outstanding experience-no surprises, and a good product first time. Jeff was onsite when I inspected the work-he arrived early and made his own inspection. Jeff is a good person to know-I will feel comfortable using him in the future for any of the services he offers.

Jeff and crew painted the interior of our house about four years ago, and it still looks great! So we contacted Jeff late last fall, too late to get scheduled before winter. We talked this Spring, and got scheduled. When Jeff had to delay a week or two due to weather, he contacted us right away and kept us in the loop. They arrived and spent five days doing the work, including some repairs that weren't anticipated. Their charges for the extra work were entirely in line. Throughout, they were a pleasure to work with!

They provided the best estimate by far and provided a smooth and very satisfactory result. We are very pleased. They were quick but meticulous and very good about communicating via email and phone.

Everything was excellent. They were neat and courteous. I would hang out with them. It is a husband and wife that comes around and the husband is a riot. He had me laughing. All of the walls and ceilings had to be washed and they did it. They had to put layers of material on the walls and ceiling to make sure they were clean. I was extremely happy with them and my house looks great.

Never returned my calls for an estimate on painting the entire inside of my house.

Jeff came to our new home and gave us an estimate to paint the interior. I chose him over other candidates based on his obvious professionalism and knowledge of the work that needed to be done. He and his team were awarded the job and within weeks started the project. They were punctual, responsible, and extremely neat and organized. They were respectful of our belongings and were very trustworthy. The work they did was beautiful! We were very happy with our experience and highly recommend them to anyone who needs a quality paint job.

Jeff and his wife, work as a team, she does all the woodwork, and he painted ceilings and walls. They worked jointly on the crown molding and had it completed very quickly. I guess when you know what you're doing, things go smoothly. They were at my house for about 2 1/2 days, arrived promptly in the morning. They were both very professional, but also personal. Since we live in the same area, we had lots in common. We were very happy with what they did and how they did it. When we need painting done again, we will definitely reach out to Jeff, the Painter, and would recommend him to anyone that needs painting done. My husband had contacted several companies that do painting, and Jeff's price by the best by far!

He is terrific. I highly recommend him and have given his name to friends and family. I will use him again in the future.

My wife and I purchased a home in Forest Hill, MD in mid-August 2011 and we wanted to have the interior painted before we moved in in mid-September 2011. I used Angie's list to find Jeff the painter. By the Way Jeff and his wife work together in the business. They met me at the house for an estimate. They were both very professional but yet very down to earth, personable. It took them a couple of days to send me the estimate. Once received and accepted we determined a start and end date for the project. They finished ahead of schedule and the interior of the house looks great.

Jeff and his assistant arrived at the appointed time, with the right color paints (slightly lighter ceiling pant) and dispatched the job fast, efficiently and professionally. They had all the tools and experience necessary to get the job done. They were friendly but not intrusive. Their clean up was more thorough than I expected but sincerely appreciated.

Jeff is prompt with estimates and follow to questions. Initially had Jeff provide an estimate to paint outside trim of my two story house along with foundation prep and painting. We received three estimates from different painters, all estimates were close in pricing but the overall communication with these companies quickly helped with my decision to use Jeff. The one company provided an estimate but never returned any calls, the second contractor provided half an estimate and lost all info for job at least once..totally unprofessional. Jeff on the other hand is courteous, professional, prompt and willing to offer his opinion without being pushy. We used Jeff to paint exterior as described above and before wrapping up job asked him to provide an estimate for the interior of our home. The estimate was strong but we went with him for the interior and are glad that we did. Jeff made some recommendations for paint choices (he uses Sherwin Williams) ie. semi gloss, low sheen etc., we picked the colors and called him with the choices prior to the start date. Jeff and company showed up on a Monday and began the job, they carefully moved furniture, started with ceiling paint, trim and cut-in and moved on to large wall areas during the remainder of the week. They kept in contact with us and most importantly cleaned up after themselves daily. When job was finished they returned furniture to position and gave the carpets a vacuum. Had a final follow-up call with Jeff, left him a check, he returned key, locked up....all and all a job well done.

Jeff arrived for the estimate and the job on time. He and his team were very nice and professional. They cleaned up after the job. Finished the job sooner than expected. Yeah!

We are extremely happy with the entire project. First, the estimation process was very transparent and timely. Second, the interior design assistance was very helpful and non-pressure oriented. With Erin's help we worked through the countless choices and easily came to a decision between my wife and I in what normally takes several days to weeks; we did it in an evening in the comforts of our home. The wall repair and painting was excellent quality. Under the direction of Jeff and his substantial experience they were able to repair the walls and prep them for painting, paint the 6 different rooms/hall way (textured ceilings, walls and trim with chair-rails) in 2 1/2 days with no disruption to the family. The speed and quality of their service is truly impressive. We are so happy with the job they did, we are already on their list for another home improvement project later this summer. Jeff and Erin were very professional and helpful in answering our many questions. We highly recommend them as a home improvement/business improvement specialist.
