Oven fan and front clock were working, but no heat, in our newly-purchased condo. We have a home warranty and were given a few referrals. A Team looked good on Angle's List so we called them. The technician was baffled at first. Pulled the top panel on the oven to see the wires, but spotted nothing. I mentioned that we had had the circuit breakers replaced (Federal Pacific panel), and he said that that definitely could be the problem. He opened up the breaker box (which required cutting some fresh paint and caulking around the edges, done very cleanly), took out his voltmeter, and quickly confirmed that the 110 volt circuit feeding the oven was fine but that the 220 volt circuit was putting out zero volts because that breaker had not been installed properly. Not being an electrician, he did not offer to try to fix the breaker. However, he closed everything up and left everything as he had found it. However, his diagnosis proved to be 100% correct, as an electrician from the company that had botched the initial work confirmed shortly thereafter. Very professional; would not hesitate to call again.
Description of Work: Diagnosed problem with oven.

The process went smoothly, with the entire repair finished in under 3 hours, despite the incredible heat and a trip to the hardware store. He was able to find the problem that both an earlier A/C repairman and an electrician had missed: faulty/shorting wiring. It turned out that the wiring was not replaced -- as it should have been -- when AJ Michaels replaced our system four years ago. The first A/C company merely replaced two blown fuses (and replaced them with the wrong size, to boot), and the second company -- electrical repairs -- tightened some wiring and noted that the outside unit was pulling a lot of juice, but didn't take a closer look at the unit to determine WHY it was pulling so much juice: namely, that the wires were exposed and shorting. The A Team took the time to really look at the unit and diagnose and solve the problem once and for all. I particularly liked two things: 1) although I told him that the electrician had said we may need to replace the system, he did NOT take me up on that, although I am sure he would have made a lot more money with a total system replacement than a two+ hour repair; and 2) he asked me to call him if the repair did not work for any reason. He also said that, if he had missed something like the other two companies had missed, he would want to know about it. Some people say that kind of thing, but you can tell they don't mean it. Him, I truly believed. In any event, the temperature in our house is now a brisk 75 -- no longer a balmy 91 (I am not kidding!), so I doubt we'll have to call him back about this repair. You can bet, however, that I will be calling the A Team for all AC work from now on ... I cannot recommend them highly enough. ++++ I forgot to mention that I called Monday mid-day after the AC blew the fuse yet again Saturday evening. This was the hottest week of the summer thus far, and the friendly receptionist said she couldn't get anyone out to us on Monday (and sounded genuinely sad about it), but gave us a four hour window on Tuesday. They called and came right on time: in the middle of the window.
Description of Work: He repaired our outdoor unit/compressor, which had not been working for several weeks. Within a half-hour, he was able to diagnose a problem that had eluded detection by two other companies' personnel (both of whom have high marks on Angie's List). With temperatures in the mid-90s, he did not hesitate in making a trip to the hardware store for the part he needed, and got the whole job done in under 3 hours. The problem turned out to be faulty wiring that should have been replaced when we got our new A/C system four years ago.

During the middle of an oppressive summer heat wave, the air conditioning failed at which time we called the A Team and another contractor for estimates. John Snapp who is the president, spent time to explain and go through the options available to us and made recommendations based on our needs and the time we expected to remain inthe house. We ended up going with a Trane XB/3 3.5 ton single stage A/C unit and a Trane XB single stage multi speed furnace unit. John said that he was able to move some pending work around to fit our job in on the Monday after the A/C went up. The work was completed on that day and by the time i came home from work that evening, the house had cooled down sufficiently. His crew cleaned up to the point that I couldn't even tell that work had been done. I am 100% impressed with the A Team and their professionalism and their ability to understand the customer's needs in choosing the right system.
Description of Work: Replace existing furnace and air conditioner, connect to existing line.

The job was estimated to take approximately 8 to 9 hrs. The arrived at 8:00am in the morning which was the time schulded to start. They started work immediatly they were finished at 2:30pm everything was up and operating and everything was cleaned up and hauled away they also completed all of the paper work for the bgand e energy rebate and the factory warranty registration. The A team has been performing work for the faimly for over 20 years and I would highly recommend them for any of your HVAC or appliance repair needs they have always been fair and they would go out of their way to recomend the best possible solution for our needs and budget.
Description of Work: Replace old failing inefficent furnace and central air conditioning units with new 96% afu modulating furnace and a 16 seer central air conditioning unit also the installation of a stainless steel chimmny liner for the hot water heater. The more efficent furnace exhaust out thru the wall so a chimney liner was required for the water heater.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the A-Team, particularly the owner, John. From first contact through completion of this job John and his team were the most professional, detail-oriented, knowledgable company I have worked with. John was the most timely with scheduling an estimate and provided a fair, detailed explanation of costs. In addition, he was the only company of the 3 estimates to suggest I change my hot water heater from electric to gas to save money on an electrical box upgrade. This saved me a lot of money and I appreciated his thoughtfullness in thinking through this problem. During the estimate John spent a lot of time on how to take the duct work from the basement to the attic to minimize disruption and to give me an idea of what I should expect. He was honest and straightforward with exactly what he could predict and what he would have to figure out once the job was started. Once the contract was signed and financing approved, John and his men were starting the work about 1 week later which we were delighted with. They predicted the job would take 3-5 business days, they started on a Thursday but chose to come in and finish the job on Saturday of a holiday weekend instead of waiting until Tuesday to complete. Also, we have radiant heat in our house so instead of having 2 thermostat's (1 for heat, 1 for a/c) John set us up with a new thermostat and programmed it for our heat and A/C. He also installed the 2nd thermostat for our upstairs zone on the second floor which we find to be delightful since we don't have to go downstairs to adjust the temp when we are upstairs. We were extrememly satisfied with the duct work they installed in our basement. We have very tall ceilings and they were able to keep the duct work very high (mostly b/w the joists) so that if we ever want to finish our basement we could easily maintain 8 ft ceilings throughout. In summary, I could not have been more satisfied with the A-Team with the A/C installation in my house. The process from start to finish was better and faster than we expected and felt we got an amazing value for the cost. The A-Team will be my go to company for all my heating and a/c needs and I will be buying a maintenance plan from them next to maintain my seperate heating and a/c systems. I highly recommend this company to anyone!!!
Description of Work: A-Team installed central air conditioning in my 90+ year old home. This involved installing duct work for 2 floors + basement, floor registers, air handler, outdoor unit, and an upgraded electronic air cleaner. This was for a 2-zone high efficiency system. To save me money from having to have my electrical box upgraded John replaced my old electric hot water heater with a brand new energy efficient gas hot water heater. He installed a water expansion tank and extended gas piping from the furnace to the new water heater as well as connected the flue to the existing chimney. He disposed of my old hot water heater. Once the new hot water heater was installed John had an electrician come to alter our electrical system to accomodate our new air conditioning system. To meet code the electrician also installed 2 add'l outlets, one near the new air conditioning system in the basement and one outside near the outdoor unit. A-Team works with a lender who provided financing, which was offering 0% interest for 12 months. John obtained all of the necessary electrical and mechanical permits and had everything inspected when the work was complete.

I am in the process of restoring an old house and there was quite a bit of work to be done. The furnace in this house had stopped working, so I contacted A Team to either repair or replace it. When the workers arrived, they examined the furnace very thoroughly and determined that with the age and the wear on the unit, it would be safer to replace it with a newer model. They were able to install the new furnace with relative ease, making sure not to damage anything else in the process. Since then, the entire system is working great and I am very satisfied.
Description of Work: A Team came to replace a faulty furnace in my house.
