We are a family operated business, active full time stamp and coin dealers since 1963. We ask interested parties to telephone first, so we can discuss exactly what you'd like done. There is no charge for our services if you bring the material to us (by appointment only) and if you need us to come to you, there is a minimal charge to cover our time - which we waive if we purchase the material. Our biography is posted on our website: www.vanstamp.com.

If you go to them, they do not charge an appraisal fee. Mr. Van Emden spent two hours with me going over the coin collection in detail. I did not know where to start and was afraid I would spend hours or days trying to sort a bunch of coins without knowing what I was doing. Mr. Van Emden very quickly separated out the valuable coins from the pocket change. He was very pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. It was my impression that he assigned fair values to the coins, and made what I considered a reasonable offer for the collection. He said he had been collecting and appraising coins for 40 years, and I believe it. At one point he tested if a coin had silver in it by the sound it made when dropped on the desk (a pretty neat trick). I would recommend this company, and I will go back if I need something else appraised. I was worried about being ripped off by a coin appraiser, but I felt that I was treated honestly.
Description of Work: I brought a coin collection that used to belong to my father-in-law for appraisal and possible sale.
