Terminix - Owings Mills -Termite & Pest Control

RUN from this company! They are the absolute worst! They sell services and do not deliver what they say they will. They make appointments and never show up. Mike Shorter, the branch manager at Owings mills, is useless when you register a complaint. He doesn’t care that they do terrible job and do not show up. Learn from my mistake and use ANYONE in maryland other than this company.

Needless to say, I will never use Terminix again after our recent experience with them. We paid over a thousand dollars for a mouse exclusion service. The technicians showed up without the site map showing all the areas that were supposed to be sealed up, they sprayed about $10 of foam in random spots (not even on holes and leaving half of it in globs in the yard!) and then were gone in 15 minutes. We had the supervisor come out to show him what a poor job they'd done and he agreed it was not done correctly. We have now been playing phone tag with different managers for TWO MONTHS waiting for our refund. Each time we're told it will be processed that week, but it isn't. I strongly recommend that you use your money elsewhere!

Good warranty on their work. I love them they are great.

Last week I wasn't home when they came. I don't need to be, because they sprayed the outside. If I have any problems inside, I will let them know, and they will come spray in there.

I really haven't noticed an effect of the exclusion so I terminated it. I've not been really happy with spending $100 when I still see some pests. Termite protection is a A or B the other stuff I give them a D.

I give them a D for everything but termite control. I notice no real control of the pest.

Had been customer for over 10 years. Besides routine outside work, needed help with rodent prevention and stinkbug eradication. Requested inside work. Spouse was home during the time window. Got receipt they "sprayed" on the outside. No one knocked on door despite explicit instructions. Looks like we were charged for service NOT provided. Customer service - on hold for over 20 minutes without resolution. Would only recommend to my worst enemy.

Terminex bought out a local company I was very happy with, providing quarterly pest control treatments. Now that they took over, they could not make the transition. They tried to perform another treatment less than a month after the last treatment. I told that technician it wasn't needed, called the main office after that to straighten it out again. Then a day or two later, a technician called trying to find my house. Told him not to perform the treatment. A week later, I noticed that they charged me for the treatment. I cancelled my account and will not deal with them again.

Service tech was great, company is lousy. It is impossible to get anyone at the local office. When you speak to the main office they always tell you someone from the local office will get back with you, but they never do. You can never cancel this service without threatening them. They will keep coming to your house whether you like it or not. Even worse, they will keep raising your rate every 6 months or so, and keep billing you even if you tell them not to. It's actually a pretty scary relationship.

Prices extremely high, they did everything possible to NOT say you are agreeing to monthly installments for services.

We clearly explained verbally and showed him in writing the work needed to be done and the documentation required. The tech told us all he does is empty and re-set traps. In past visits he said he found and plugged holes to exclude rodents. Today I was told that is not part of our quarterly subscription. We asked who at Terminix could help with what we needed today. The tech said his manager was unreachable but he got a different manager on the phone who told me he said he'd see what he could do. Then the tech said he'd schedule a manager to come out tomorrow morning. After he left I called to confirm this was scheduled and learned it was not. They said a manager would telephone me within 1-2 hours. I called back after about an hour and a half because it was already 5 pm and was told the branch office was closed and that a manager would not contact me until tomorrow at the earliest. The story just keeps changing. Terminix is a large national company and I often get someone on the phone with limited capability to take care of the situation. You never get a local person when you call. They are always happy to schedule service but we are learning that what they can do during those service visits is very limited and it's just about impossible to reach someone who can help...you have to wait for that person to call you. As of end of the day the situation is not resolved. Needles to say I'm very unhappy with the communication and the service. We'll see what happens tomorrow. If all is resolved I will be happy to report that update here.

Historically their work was good but now it is awesome. They decide when they are coming whether we are here or not. They are very in-personal with their messages. They leave voice messages that they are coming at a certain time and someone has to be there which is a never a convenient time. There is no regulation to it and being working couples it does not work. I will be terminating their service next week. I will stick with the termite service because it is a life time warranty.

When calling phone number was connected to a sales person. Was put on hold and then disconnected. Company is more concerned about sales than commitment to customers

Called on Tuesday 8/26/14 at 1:30pm. Woman who talked to me on the phone said I was scheduled for that afternoon (Tuesday) between 3 and 5pm. She went on to say that someone would call me when they were on their way. No one called and no one came. Called on Wednesday 8/27/14 in the afternoon. Talked to a different woman who told me that Tuesday's appointment was "requested" but not "scheduled." She then said she "scheduled" me for an appointment for Thursday 8/28/14 between 3 and 5pm and that she would make a note for the tech to call ahead. On Thursday 8/28/14 no one called and no one came between 3 and 5pm. At 6:30pm I received a call from the tech saying that he didn't get the notice that he had an appointment until just then. I thanked him for calling and told him I would be taking my business elsewhere.

They were prompt and if you have a concern, they would come right over. It was good.

They came the next day and were very polite. The house is so warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Our utility bill was cut in half. We have had a termite inspection since and do not have one bug left.

They charge a standard fixed amount. They have been have been keeping the same technicians, and they have been changing in the last 12 services. Their corporate services are great, as far as customer service, but sometimes staff have a little trouble with common sense. I have had trouble with my cats in the last few services, and their service. They left bags of rat poison out where the cats could get to them, and things like that. I have had to take the cats to the vets several times because of what they said. Now when they come, I just remind them that I have cats, and not keep things down that are dangerous for the cats, and they haven't done anything like that. The management has always paid the bills for the pest. The employees always have best intentions, they are courteous, and they try their best to do their best. Their corporate policy is, that if you see any bugs then they come back out and give you a free service. I am very satisfied, and I have had them for all my properties, since the mid 90s. They are cost effective.

Horrible. I will never use them again.

They're great. We wouldn't have anybody else come in. They're thorough. They check the crawl space. They check all around the inside of the house. They point out any ants or anything that they see outside and they take care of them right away.

Newton arrived on time. He was very personable yet professional. He examined the exterior of the house (back, front and sides). He put orange stakes in the ground at different locations and explained they could be used in the future to ID issues. He then inspected the unfinished basement and crawl space. It was at that time that he drew my attention to a small area where water was seeping in. Needless to say, I was ecstatic at his find and I will be getting that area fixed. Job well done!

They come quarterly, we have a yearly contract with them. They are fine.

We have been very happy with them. We are on a quarterly pest control plan. They came out if I ever have a problem in between the 90 days, they come out for free. We have used them in this house and the old house, and we have had the same technician, and I can't say enough about him. They are prompt, and efficient. He is very thorough, he knows our needs by now, and if by chance he comes for the regular service when we are not home, he leaves a note to say we should call him. There have never been any issues, and they have always been good even in the past years. The pricing has gone up over the years, but I haven't shopped around at all. We started with them, and we are happy.

They have been excellent. They were very thorough in their job and if you need extra help, they come when you call them. We've been using them for years.

I called Terminix on 9/2 to schedule a bed bug treatment for 9/7. They said the technician would be here between 10:00am and 12:00pm. I called at 10:30am on 9/7 asking for an estimate on when the technician will arrive, they could not give me an estimate but said that I was scheduled and they would be out before noon. I called again at 12:30pm because the technician had not shown up. They said that although I had scheduled the treatment, it was not on the technicians agenda. They did not provide a reason why. They said the technician could come out between 2:00pm and 3:00pm. By 3:15pm the technician had not shown up and nobody contacted me. I called and canceled the treatment. We spent the night of 9/6 and morning of 9/7 preparing our house, which included packing up all of our clothes and bedding, as well as scheduled our day to be out of the house for hours after the treatment. I am a new homeowner and do not plan on using Terminix for any future services, on my current home or any I purchase in the future.
