Just had person come to give bid on landscaping and tree trimming. He told me I had bagworms and offered to spray today for $180, first of two treatments ($360 total). I did not let him rush me into it and did other checking. On checking, other landscapers and the internet told me that mid-september (today is sept 12) is too late to spray: spraying for bagworms only works while they are still crawling on the trees. The bagworms are already in their wintertime bags on my trees. So he tried to sell me a service today that would do me little good. His actual bid for landscaping and tree trimming was also about 150% of what my other Angies List contractor bid.

It was excellent. I called up and we set up an appointment with them. The owner actually came out. We discussed the scope of the work, he gave me a price right then and there. I thought it over, we had other estimates that we had gotten. We decided to go with Lasbury. We called them back, set up and appointment. They started exactly when they said and they worked the entire day to finish the job in one day. They stayed really long and really late. I was very happy. They did exactly what they said they were going to do.

They did a beautiful job! I think that my yard looks great and I will have him come back again. They were very professional people and personable. The price was reasonable. It was like a jungle there but he did a great job. He knew what he was doing and didn't pull out any of my flowers or other nice landscaping.

I've tried hiring other tree services in the past, and it seems to be standard in the field to (A) not return calls or (B) not show up to do the work promised, or (C) show up, and then do unapproved work. "We took down that ridiculous looking tree on the east. What idiot planted that?" (Um - that would be me, thanks. Couldja have asked first?!) Lasbury Tree and Shrub is a refreshing contrast! Everyone I've met who works for them has been very professional, all calls were returned, appointments were kept promptly, and the work was done as requested without "extras" such as I described above. They were, quite simply, awesome.

They were very responsive and quick to take down the four trees, two of which were near electric lines. They were very very professional. John has been taking care of trees for years and does great work.

I'm impressed with this company; they seem to know their business very well, they responded within a couple of days to my request for an on-site quote, and they scheduled the work promptly. It remains to be seen if the treatment works, but I wouldn't hesitate to call them back for further service. My only complaint is that I received a separate, emailed quote for the removal of the back yard shrub and had to sign the estimate as part of our contract. The work turned out to be pretty simple -- one man pulled the bush out and there were no roots to dig out, but I still had to pay what I thought was a pretty high amount for what we believed would be a more difficult job. In other words, they did not adjust the bill to the actual situation. To be fair, this might be because they had to bring the equipment and manpower to the site regardless of effort involved.

Crew showed up early in the morning with the expectation it could be a two-day job; they managed to do it all in one day. They felled one tree and trimmed back three. Additionally, though not necessarily part of the agreed service, during clean-up they cleared all the dead limbs off my roof. This was a pleasant unexpected surprise. Because of my yard's layout, other than the house there was only one part of the landscape that I was concerned about. I have lilacs in the front yard and I told them that other than the lilacs, they were free to drop limbs, etc anywhere. Even though they were given this freedom I would still rate the tasks they had to perform as pretty challenging and they pulled it off very well.

We were very pleased with the overall experience. All of our options were carefully explained and how much each would cost. The work was completed in a timely fashion and we were pleased with the results. One day several weeks later when out in our area they actually stopped by to see how the trees were doing so far. We would absolutely recommend this company to friends.

The tree was trimmed back and shaped, as described in the proposal. I was happy with the level of responsivness, service and price. I wish I were home on the day of the trimming in order to ask for it to be trimmed back a little more.

The two man crew worked efficiently and neatly....they cleaned up so well I found no evidence they were there except for a well sculpted tree. There was no access for a truck to pull up so they had to haul the wood through the back yard to the mulcher.

The people who came and worked on site were nice and cleaned up well after their work. I was perfectly satisfied with that they did. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. He has done pro-bono work in the neighborhood before and that is the reason why I had hired him.

I contacted Mr Lasbury, among other tree service providers, after Hurricane Sandy left a large tree limb on my roof. Since Hurricane Irene last year left two even bigger limbs from the same tree resting on my car, I decided the whole tree needed to go. Estimates were all in the same ballpark, with Mr Lasbury's being $50 more than the other I was considering. It was his willingness to prioritize my situation, because the tree was resting on the house, that made the decision for me. Other tree removal companies were telling me it would be 4-5 weeks. He was hard to get a hold of for a few days after I made the decision to go with Lasbury, but once I made contact he had a crew out within two days. The crew was led by a man named Bunny. They were a little late the first day but got right to work. I had to leave for work, so I gave them my phone number and asked them to call when they were within 1/2 hour of finishing so I could pay them. I got a call about 3:00 and headed home from work. At that point, they were still waiting on delivery of the stump grinder, so they weren't near as close to done as indicated. I finally had to go back to work and the crew returned next day to complete the job. The crew was very professional and cleaned up all of the logs, limbs and woodchips (with the exception of what was needed to fill the hole left by the absence of the stump). They also pointed out several other trees in need of removal, but since these weren't in reach of my house, I'm letting it go for now.

The tree was trimmed as ordered but afterwards I decided to just take the tree down. The men doing the job called for an okay to do more than was ordered and I was told there would be a small additional fee to take the tree down. The fee was minimal so they took the tree down to the ground. After the tree was down the men cleaned up the yard so that there was hardly any saw dust or chips remaining. The men doing the job were great!

An estimate was given within two days of my call and two days after that, the crew was at my house. The crew walked the site with me while I pointed out areas of concern. I had plantings and fences in the area that I did not want crushed by the work. The crew was polite and attentive and was careful of these items even though the space they had to work in was tight. The 3 man crew finished in about 3 hours and left a clean site.

Very professional. Performed work immediately because of concerns that trees were dangerous. Saved me from the wrath of Hurricane Sandy.

John was about 10 mins late for the estimate, but it turns out his GPS took him to the wrong place. His estimate was quick, to the point and very reasonable compared to the reviews we read here on Angie's List. On the agreed upon date, his team arrived promptly, completed the work and cleaned up nicely. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. The work was exactly what we expected and I would highly recommend them to everyone.

I don't know if they were just busy or not interested in the work since there was no communication and it took over a week for them to email me an estimate. Interestingly, I didn't receive their estimate until AFTER I posted a review on Angie's List citing their lack of responsiveness. I am going to use a different tree service company that was highly rated on Angie's List and was more responsive.

We were working long distance with them, and were very pleased they sent us pictures (before and after) of their work. They did outstanding work, honest, worked overtime with no extra charge, efficient and they working with an elderly person, we appreciated that they were very respectful.

I hired Lasbury Tree and Shrub to remove an old rotted oak tree in my backyard.It was a large difficult job, and I had gotten 3 other estimates because I have had bad experiences with contractors in the past. The owner (John Lasbury) submitted a detailed professional proposal, that also happened to be the lowest. John also made arrangements with BG&E, as power lines had to be taken down in order for any work to be done. I took the day off work, and was waiting for the crew when they showed up right on time. They went to work right away, but were delayed slightly because BG&E was late. I am still impressed by how quickly and efficiently they did this job. All of the workers were very polite and friendly, and were willing to do whatever it took to get the job done to my satisfaction. They went the extra mile to clean up, blowing sawdust off my freshly painted porch roof, and even (gently) blowing off my Hydrangeas.I will hire this company again to clean up the other tree on my property, and will go out of my way to recommend their services to others.

Mike, the workman, treated the cherry laurels, peonies, magnolia, dogwoods, weeping cherries and junipers at the 5th treatment. I'm happy that my plants are ready for fall & will look good next spring. Mike gave me a detailed list of plants he treated, location, pest and treatment. I appreciate knowing what I'm spending my money on and that he is responding to my concerns.

Showed up on time with professional equipment and workers at a reasonable price. Will use them again.
