We were told by a friend about Hecox. Small company-family owned; highly recommended. When our A/C gave out, I thought it was the capacitor but not positive. As it is 11 + years old, I dreaded the repair, knowing we were sitting ducks for the "compressors shot, old system, you need to replace the system...". Decided to give them a try. Eli, the owner's son, arrived with another tech and asked me a few questions about the system. Friendly guys. They quickly diagnosed it as a bad start capacitor, and had it replaced within 10 minutes. System up and working fine. Very reasonable price. This is not your spit-n-polish large franchise company. What they lack in spiffy uniforms and flashy ads they make up for where the rubber meets the road. They did not try and sell me on a new system or other repairs.They did not try to sell me a service contract. This is standard mantra from HVAC companies, even the A rated ones here on Angie's List. They simply diagnosed the problem & fixed it quickly for a reasonable cost. When we do finally replace the system, we will be calling Hecox to do it!

I had contacted a number of different HVAC providers from Angie's list and they came to the house and provided estimates. All of the estimates were for top of the line equipment and were twice as expensive as that of Hecox. When Hecox , who was recommended by a friend, arrived he asked some questions about our plans for staying in the house; did we have any other plans for major overhauls in the house etc. Based on our conversation he recommended that we not get the top of the line equipment, that it would last for as long as we planned to stay in the house, and that the equipment he was recommending was as good as the top of the line. I was very impressed with Hecox and the way he conducted business. I was even more impressed when he arrived to do the installation. He was quick, thorough and cleaned up completely after himself. I would most assuredly recommend him to everyone.
