BALLY SERVICES LLC

Our experience with this contractor was difficult from the first day we made contact. His sole purpose was to maximize what he could get from our insurance company since this was an insurance claim. He reported to have worked with our adjustor previously but failed to describe that in doing so he was responsible for inflating that previous claim beyond the adjustors ability to approve. He was very unresponsive and continually provided excuses about his work as a city councilman in a neighboring city and also his personal life as reasons why he could not respond to our phone and email inquiries. In addition, after multiple requests for quotes, this contractor admitted he was not interested in providing a detailed quote, even though it was requested by the insurance company, because it was too "time consuming". He was expecting that we would agree to work through an email scope that had no breakdown of labor or materials. He even felt it was in his responsibility to say that he was giving us "credit" for materials that we have already purchased ourselves making what would be a $25,000 exceed $40,000. Needless to say we are not using Bally Services. Unfortunately, we wasted six weeks with this contractor who had no dedication to our project other than what he could gouge from the insurance company. Beware of Doug Cymex, owner Of Bally Services and City Council member of Ocean City, Maryland.

We could not have asked for a better company to work with. Doug and Nick were excellent. They listen to our needs and took pride in their work. They gave us names of other professionals to help save us money as well as time. I will use Bally Services in the future for any other new or remolding construction.

All went pretty well, however, the contractor asked for the final payment before all the terms of the contract had been fulfilled. Those terms were written in the contract and consisted of 1) completion of punch list items, 2) final inspection approvals from the city and 3) written lien releases from subcontractors. He claimed that we were responsible for delaying completion of their work which was not true. We allowed them full access to the premises even though we had out of town family coming during the Labor Day holiday. The problem stemmed from one of their suppliers sending the wrong sized materials for the stair railings and the city could not complete the final inspections until the stairs were completed. The contractor was somewhat upset when we insisted that the contract terms be fulfilled first, saying it was a question of our lack of trust. Can't figure that one out since we trusted he would fulfill the written terms of the contract before expecting final payment.

It went very well. Construction progressed in a timely manner. We were always in touch with each phase of the project. The crews were considerate,professional and competent. We got exactly what we expected.
