Hope to hear from you!
We hired Willis Builders last year to install new floor (porcelain tiles) in the kitchen, hallway and the bathroom and were happy with work. Recently, I noticed a serious leak from under the toilet, most likely the result of less than perfect installation. It’s a simple job, but things happen. What’s important is that a week after I contacted Matt, and the week included the Labor Day weekend, his crew came, put the new wax ring, and re-installed the toilet. Three days later, it still does not leak. Amazing but true. ;-) While customer service is becoming an oxymoron, thankfully, there are exceptions and Willis Builders is one of them. 5 stars this time.

I really appreciate sharing your experience. This situation makes me proud of my teams commitment. It’s my personal and company policy to respond to any warranty items as soon as humanly possible. I have found that often customers feel a sense of fear when something goes wrong after the contractor has already left. My intention is to eliminate any possibility of worry by responding immediately and affectively. This is the difference of having a contractor for life or simply a one and done job. I understand that if we had waited another 1 to 5 days to respond and repair, the possibility of losing a great client like you increases exponentially. I can only imagine this to be the case because when something goes wrong on my house my wife calls me from the same room, and I better respond quickly! I’m very blessed to have people on my team who will come assist me as needed! I look forward to my next project working with you!

Matt is a very kind person whose team was very nice to work with. They were respectful, clean, trustworthy, and made sure they listen to our wishes and concerns. They worked very hard so we could move in before Christmas. The projects after that were slower but we had added several projects in the process and overall they got everything accomplished in about 4 months. Matt always reacted on time to e-mails and calls. Sometimes is was hard to reach his team to find out when they would be coming and what they would work on but one call to Matt and he made sure we got a reply. Green products and limited chemicals were very important to us and his team not only respected that but also collaborated with us which products to use. We had a major water problem in the basement and they were able to fix it with additional drains, a sump pump and a successful concepts to redirect the water from the house. We have had a lot of rain so far and the basement has been dry, yeah! The built-in closets were done by a different team and took more time than we expected. They didn't turn out the way we wanted but Matt worked with us on that, reduced the price and had the team do some changes. We heard many horror stories about other contractors from friends so we were worried starting this big project. Overall we had a very good experience with Willis Builder. The majority of projects were done very nicely and to our satisfaction and Matt was willing to work with us on the couple things we were not so satisfied with. We also know, should there be anything in the future, Matt will not hesitate to come and fix it. We would work with him and his team anytime again.

Thank you so much for your glowing review. I’m happy to be able to complete the job before the big wedding. I’ve learned to take less jobs so the project managers can make there deadlines successfully. I’d rather have less but good jobs so we can focus our attention on these jobs. We really love jobs like yours where we can do all three bathrooms and the basement and nearly the whole house painting. You did a great job making sure we had everything we needed to keep the production without any delays. Thanks for your communications throughout the job. We are blessed to have a client like you to work with. Thanks very much! Blessings!

The work was done by Alexa and three of his co-workers for Willis Builders, using high quality flagstone cut to form an interlocking stone pattern and precision applied cement grouting. I was impressed by the geometric precision used to cut the flagstone highlighted by the contrasting cement color. The work was done efficiently and all debris was removed. The job was completed a few hours later when Alexa returned with one coworker to wash the stone free of stone dust and cement excess. They even hosed the adjoining plants and bushes to remove dust that had settled on the plants.

Willis began the job when they said they would and they finished in the time frame they estimated. The price they quoted in their proposal was accurate. There were no surprise extra charges. They kept us informed about who was coming and when, and what they would be doing. They cleaned up before they finished. All of their employees and subcontractors were courteous and helpful. They quickly corrected any minor things that got missed. This project involved repairing water damage, and they made sure that everything was dry before they began. They made adjustments in the work plan when they discovered additional water damage under the kitchen cabinets that had not been adequately dried by restoration company. They planned the kitchen repairs in a way that it minimized our loss of kitchen use. They were very helpful in explaining our flooring options. They helped us to select a new flooring color when it turned out that the color we previously had was no longer available. We have used Willis Builders for other jobs as well, including a major home addition and a new bathroom. They did a great job on these projects, and have made warranty fixes as needed. They are first people we call when we need other work done. We highly recommend Willis Builders.
Description of Work: We had a drain pipe break under the kitchen sink. Willis Builders replaced the water damaged kitchen floor, and rebuilt the inside of the cabinet surrounding the drain pipe. The water from the kitchen settled under the basement floor below damaging the drywall and flooring. Willis Builders replaced the water damaged basement floor, cut away the water damaged sections of drywall, and repainted the room.

I love it! I also love being your go to contractor for all your projects! It means our intention is coming to reality. Our goal is realized working with you on small your projects by being " my contractor for life" . We always are honored to be able to work with you. Thanks for the graciousness you've shared about our work!
Overall, the quality of work was very good. The bathrooms look AMAZING! They also finished the project within the anticipated timeline, which was the major reason we chose Willis for this project. They did two bathrooms faster than some companies could promise one (4 weeks to fully functional - a few details took longer to complete due to backordered parts). We had some communication and punctuality issues with the project manager, and I felt like I had to manage him and keep tabs on everything that was happening, which was frustrating at times. However, whenever I would discover something had been done wrong, they'd say, "okay, we'll fix it" and did so without complaint, even if it took multiple attempts to get it right. And most important, they never tried to stick us with the bill if it was their mistake. One thing to be aware of is that their quotes are for labor only. The customer is responsible for purchasing the big items (tile, vanity, tub, etc. - often with contractor discounts), and Willis buys the basic construction materials as they're needed (cement board, PVC pipe, paint, adhesives, etc.), which the customer reimburses at cost. So be sure to factor in the materials when comparing with other contractors that include those things in their bids. We reimbursed Willis almost exactly $2,000 for materials for the two bathrooms.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of two bathrooms. One bathroom was also expanded by taking space from an adjoining closet.

We thought Matt Willis was very diligent, responsive and easy to work with. He sent out Gio to lead the work and I was really impressed with him. In the course of work, we had to level the floor, which required removing and reinstalling half the cabinets. It added to both cost and the time, but such is the nature of the renovation. The new tiles were properly installed and look beautifully. The paint job was good as well.
Description of Work: The main work was to replace the old tiles on the first floor (kitchen, hallway, bathroom, laundry room). Additionally, we asked to paint the ceiling and the walls in the hallway.

Thanks very much for the A report ! I have to say your A customer too! Always enjoyed my visits and our conversations. Look forward to working with you again!
In my opinion this was very sloppy, unprofessional work. The material costs came in 300 % over the estimate in the contract. Invoices were submitted to us with double bills quite frequently. Workers did not seem to know what they were doing and were unsupervised. They flooded our basement 3 times. Windows and doorways and skylights were framed in crooked lines, not straight. County inspectors failed the work more than 5 times. Willis left our house walls open during March, while we were living in the house, despite our repeated pleas for them to at least nail some boards across the openings. Concrete was poured unevenly and badly. Within months of completion, concrete walkways/patio chipped and cracked, and pieces of siding fell off. Willis was unresponsive to our repeated pleas for more careful supervision. Willis departed from the architect's plans and installed windows in the wrong place and a beam in the wrong configuration, without consulting us about it. We had a certified home inspector come to review the work, and the inspector found more than 70 issues. Photos here document some of poor work quality. We ended up hiring our own subcontractors for jobs like gutters and cabinet installation because Willis was unable to do them properly. These subcontractors did the work quickly and carefully, and charged less than what Willis was going to charge for these services.
Description of Work: We hired Willis to move front door, add a front foyer, a sunroom, back patio, and partial remodel of kitchen.

I doubt writing this review has made you feel any better considering you obviously have been thinking about this a long time. It took over a year to write this report. I am saddened by this report. Yes we had materials issues although it was very simple on the contract. Materials to be reimbursed. I hope I never have to deal with excel spreadsheets with all the materials receipts labeled with questions again. Endless lists of receipts.... And yes I ended up paying $1000s in materials for you for your project. When asked is concrete included I said of course. I didn't realize you meant concrete materials. Why would anyone ask about materials being included if it's LABOR only... Anyways I paid all the concrete materials. I figured I'd get gratitude for taking responsibility for the verbal miscommunication and paying for it. I have never had anyone in the middle of a project hire a lawyer and a private inspector. Then the lawyer sends me this punch list from the inspector that was not even close to 70 items from our work. This list contained many items that we had not finished and many more that where existing conditions not related to our job. Many items where existing on the house. Nothing major so we took care of our items and some that where not to make the client happy. This was not appreciated at all. Usually people make punch lists and ask about issues they are concerned about and we simply get it done. Yes the basement had water come in at two places. One was our responsibility and I immediately had my insurance company come get a check to the homeowners. I fixed the drywall out of my pocket to make up for the mistake . With the gutters disconnected and the siding removed there was a corner where the old gutters diverted the water directly into this corner. We had the vapor barrier installed but the amount of water and the new stone wall allowed water to come into the basement. The other location was nowhere we where even working and the homeowner had their insurance come out and we fixed that too! I learned that when installing trim and siding and the gutters are not diverting water away then their is possibility of water coming in the basement. I don't understand why anyone would say we flooded the house three times when it was two locations only. We did finish to the satisfaction of the client and were paid about half of the final $10,000 + It was a challenge on this job for sure. The project manager is no longer with our company because the daily communication that was requested was not done. You never know how much communication is needed for each client. Some need the daily email or chat and some disappear until the end of the job and love everything! We have since about the last year implemented new systems to make sure communications are more then enough. We hired and paid for a gutter company to install the gutters and they did hire a company to install the massive hood range that was purchased. We installed the hood range other then an extension sleeve that was installed by this other contractor who's obviously charged less for less work. Often on projects the architect will draw something that doesn't work. We had to install this new header at the existing roof line and it was slightly different then the plan. We installed it the only way it could be installed. The window that was also not built to plan was installed right next to this new beam we installed so yes it was in fact different then the plan. We did of course communicate that the plan was not going to work with the existing roof above .The inspector understood his and passed us even though we changed the plan. The roof rafters had to sit on this beam and we couldn't install it over the roof line. We explained this to the homeowner who I thought understood but apparently not. We have never had inspectors fail us 5 times. This is simply not true. We had to have the insulation inspection 3 times because they required a spray in insulation and other locations to be insulated in the attic above our work. We had contracted to install paper face batt as per plan but the county wanted a certificate determining the R factor per inch to exceed the R 21 requirement. The reason we failed this inspection was because 2 different inspectors came asking for more then the first. We have never been asked for paperwork on insulation before. Sometimes the county will ask for new requirements then before and we simply comply until they accept the work we have done. The cabinets you are referring to was a built in custom built cabinet that was installed but the homeowner didn't like the location or look so we did it again and again. We paid to install it three times and finally it was accepted. It was built and installed by us. I do not recall anyone changing the base cabinets we installed. The pictures attached depict a gutter that we had cut at the house to the addition to perform our work, and is not what the final gutter looks like. No clue why this picture is used . Is this supposed to say this is how we left it. It was like this for most of the project. I would like to see the picture of the gutter after we installed the new one. The picture of the window is in the basement with the original paneling. The window is existing and the spacing is the same as before. We installed only 1 piece of trim at the top. Why didn't you ask us to change the window or trim because if you had it would look much better then it does. The siding photo is our mistake and the nails obviously didn't hold or it wasn't nailed because it would have needed to be face nailed. Either way it should not have fallen off. The photo of the dirt looks like it needs to be graded better and no grass seed. The other photos I don't have a reference too so I can't respond. We would have been happy to come back and make any corrections to our work as we had already done. We tackled the inspectors punch list before the punch list phase was ready and all other punch lists to the satisfaction of the client. These items where not on any punch list we ever had. I'll be the first to accept responsibility for the items that we fixed from our work . We do our best and more often exceed expectations and sometimes it's never enough but we still keep doing our best! It's obvious with the great majority of our jobs resulting with grateful, happy clients sharing their A experience. I do not believe you can't make everyone happy, because when I believe that I can I Will do my best.

Work started on target, and the entire project was finished within the agreed on time frame. County inspectors had no issues with construction at any point in the project - I work from home so talked with the inspector each time the inspector came by. I made a number of changes during the project, including the attic storage area. Willis built out the attic to my direction, making changes as the project unfolded. my wife now calls the attic my 'elevated man cave'. Willis workers were very professional, not disruptive to my family's routine; and always took the time to review the progress of the addition with me. The project total cost was around $70k, including all materials.
Description of Work: Willis builders added an addition to my garage. Willis matched the brick front of the extension, did an excellent job on integrating the inside of the existing garage with the existing, including painting walls and floor. Willis matched siding with our existing color, replaced the entire house roof shingles and built a storage attic in the garage with a ladder and electric lift, like a dumb waiter, to allow large items to be easily moved into and out of the new attic.

Matthew Willis and his team did an excellent job remodeling our bathrooms. We had 3 bathrooms completely renovated and the work done was exceptional. Everyone was very professional, helpful, and courteous throughout the entire project My husband and I especially appreciated how quickly the job was done as we were in a bit of a time crunch! We contracted with an independent architect to design our master suite addition. We invited bids from multiple construction companies, providing copies of our plans to help with proposal development. Willis Builders were the only company that provided a task by task breakdown of their proposed cost. Matthew Willis sat down with us and patiently walked us through his proposal making our choice of contractor very easy. Willis Builders met with and worked with the architect to understand and clarify some of the engineering specifications. Once building permits were approved the Willis Team quickly sunk new foundations and framed out the new construction. We caused some delays due to ordering wrong windows but the Willis team was able to focus on other work, e.g. roof, electrics, and plumbing while we waited for windows of the correct dimensions to be delivered. The Willis Team worked with the City to schedule permit inspections and make any changes that the inspectors asked for. Following the close-in inspection, the Willis team moved inside to lay new flooring that tied into our existing hardwood floors seamlessly, complete dry wall and decorating. The Willis Team Project Manager, Marcello, patiently worked with us as we considered paint colors, the position of lighting fixtures, and flooring options on the fly. His priority was clearly making sure that Willis Builders delivered what we wanted. The last space to be completed was the bathroom which included creation of a new shower, closet, and tiled floor. There was some slow down in the pace of progress around the holidays which was to be expected but it soon picked up in the New Year. We had none of the completion of punch list issues that you hear about on many construction projects. Following the completion of the project, one or two very minor issues arose that required attention. We notified Willis Builders and they quickly returned to resolve the issues. Throughout the building process, the Willis Team limited and picked up and cleared construction trash and mess. We where provided with material receipts from suppliers which we reimbursed. We were also able to apply Willis Builders' discount at suppliers when we purchased materials such as tiles and bathroom fixtures. Willis Builders reimbursed us for unused materials and worked with us to understand and quickly resolve any issues associated with invoices. We didn't pay our final invoice until after the work was completed. Since the completion of the project, friends and family that have seen our extended master suite have all been very complimentary of the results. We will definitely consider inviting Willis Builders to bid on any future building projects.

I hired Willis Builders in 2017 to build a new screen porch. While the finished product is good, it was an unnecessarily rocky and frustrating process. Matt, the owner, agreed to have the project completed by April 24th, roughly a 5 week timeline, and agreed to have that deadline written in the contract. The project started off really well with the company starting right away and completing a lot in the first week. For whatever reason, everything slowed considerably after that and it required frequent nagging to get them to make progress. The project manager would not reply to email, text or phone so getting updates or asking questions was very difficult. Matt was generally very good about getting back to me though so that helped but even after he apparently spoke to the project manager, there was no improvement on that end. The project was finally completed at the beginning of June, about twice the time we agreed upon. There was no unusually bad weather (done in Spring), no permitting delays, no external issues to blame for this. When pressed I would hear conflicting stories about the delays or would receive promises that were not kept. As for the quality of work, I would give it maybe a 7/10. Overall, it is a good looking screen porch, but there were a few issues. The ceiling was originally going to be stained, but because the quality of the wood used was not great, I thought it best just to have them paint over it. They used indoor outlets for an outdoor project so it failed inspection the first time around. They must have run out of the 1” molding that goes all around the perimeter so for one of the three walls, they stuck up half round shoe molding instead which looks really odd. But again, those things are not that major and we are happy with how it turned out in the end. The way Matt charged for this project I would describe as somewhat “misleading.” When we met we agreed and shook on a total price of $22,500. When I received the contract, the total price excluded some things that ended up increasing the total cost by several thousand dollars. For ex. the roof was listed at $0 but in the description it stated “We will budget $2000 - $3000 for the labor to install the metal roofing . Roofer will give pricing and will be under $3000.” I missed that line item (my fault) so already the cost was really at $25,500. Another example is the cost of materials. Contract states, “We estimate materials to total around $7500” so that is what I budgeted but when they came to $8400, Matt emailed me that, “I had no idea what it was going to cost when I said I guesstimate materials at $7500.” A “guesstimate” could be anything I suppose. I think in the future, a fixed price would be preferable for the customer. I don’t think Matt is a bad guy, and I think the crew is competent, I just think his team and process needs some work.

Thanks for your feedback on your project. When we met the deadline that was set due to a magazine taking pictures and making an article on the porch. We made that deadline and the magazine was able to photograph. We completed the needed amount required of the project in three weeks time in order to be ready for the magazine. The homeowner changed the ceiling finish and caused more work. He agreed and was willing to pay for the added work. This added time to the project along with another $1400 in materials costs. We had a few small items to finish after the deadline like the gutter that was selected by the homeowner and the final electrical items. I admit we did not finish the electrical due to my Electrician disappearing. We hired another Electrician to get us through the finish inspection. Anything we could get done before the deadline we did complete. We contracted a labor only contract with materials to be reimbursed to us. I don't understand a handshake agreeing that we would do it all for a set price when we had a labor only contract. On the contract I say ( we guesstimate the materials to be $7500). We did not charge $7500 for materials so it ended up being $8400 as the client stated. The change of materials to PVC which added $1400 materials costs. So the way I see it it was only $7000 in materials. This still didn't sit well because he wanted it to be under $7500 including any added materials . This for me was very confusing. I had actually beat my guesstimate and it was sooo close to the guesstimate. I thought the client would have super happy to only pay $3000 for the roof when it actually cost me $3500. Yes I paid $500 because on my contract I said the roof would be between $2000-$3000. I only charged $3000 not the $3500 I paid. If my contractor paid $500 for my roof in order to get it done quickly I would have actually offered to pay the difference. No such luck though . Not even a thank you. I actually lowered my labor from $22,500 to $17,500 for this client and made a contract to reflect the labor pricing. This was based on two other contractors pricing that the homeowner presented to me. The problem with giving a guesstimate is that sometimes people think that's the price. If I said it was about $5000 and it was $6000 they may find it difficult to pay over $5000. On the other hand if I say $5000 and it's only $4000 they have never paid me $5000. They like the $4000 price that they should pay. I'm always straight with my clients and always respond quickly . Sometimes when we are waiting for a special order and can't work on the job the client becomes anxious and will email a lot asking "when we will be back to finish". I always respond and understand the anxious requests. I did enjoying doing this project and care deeply for my team and the happiness of my clients. If there is anything that the clients don't like or are concerned about we ALWAYS stand by our work and will correct it as needed. Again I do appreciate the feedback so we can grow and increase all our skills to ensure a successful project! Blessings Matthew
We already had the plans drawn up by then. The project started in July, 2017, and was completed in May, 2017. Our favorite thing about Matthew was that he was very quick to respond to any question/concern we had. He was always easy to reach. We also enjoyed his positive outlook and upbeat attitude when it came to problem solving. His workers, Marcelo the carpenter and Giovanny our project manager who can do almost anything, did an excellent job. When we hit a glitch, with the plumber, for instance, Matthew was very efficient in fixing it. Overall, we would wholeheartedly recommend Matthew Willis and his crew.

Thanks so much for your A Report! It was a pleasure working with your family on your addition and more. I'm very grateful for your feedback and A report! It means a lot to me to have done a good job on such a large undertaking. I'm very blessed to have Marcelo and Giovanni as my project managers. If all my clients where as easy to work with as you I would look 10 years younger. I do actually like challenges though because it's always pushing for our growth. If you ever need anything please let me know!
After various emails having certain overpriced things removed Willis became frustrated "this job is too small for me. I think i'll pass." The job was thousands of dollars of work. Thousands is apparently not much(he had bragged to me about making a bunch of money earlier in the day). Unprofessional and bad attitude.

Thanks for your feedback, I honestly didn't expect an F from this client. I originally visited and this young man explained his parents are in conflict so he is trying to help out finding a contractor to get the home ready to sell. I love these types of jobs! I could tell he was very anxious to get this done for his parents and help them get their home ready to sell. He showed me about 17 projects that he wanted to get a proposal for. I created the estimate with line items for each item . I discounted each item due to the quantity of the work. I sent it to the client and about 2 months later he responded asking me to remove over half of the items and I still kept the same pricing on the items left. I received another communication about 1.5 months later asking me to remove everything other then 2 items . Sanding the kitchen floor and changing a down draft stove top. At this point the project was no longer feasible with these discounted items so I simply chose not to do this project. I have a right to deny jobs just like the client has the right to choose a contractor. I spent hours changing and making the estimate and the job turned out to be simply not worth it. The client acts like he is entitled to have me to do the work. I was never rude or never said anything to provoke this response. I polity declined the project due to a few factors. I do not like turning down jobs , it's not easy. I don't recall telling a client in 20 years about how much money I made on a job. I may have shared that I had gotten a very nice job but I'd never talk about money specifics. I agree that would be completely unprofessional for anyone to talk about . Every once in a while I'll get someone who has a grudge for turning down there job. It has happened before so I do my best to be polite about it.
Overall great and I would definitely use them again. They were very responsive and gave us fair pricing. They were a little slow to start but once they did they were very efficient and had everything done within a couple of weeks. Their project lead, Alen, was terrific. He was communicative, detail oriented and very accommodating. I would definitely use them again and would specifically request Alen to run point!
Description of Work: Willis did a variety of smaller projects for us. They reinsulated an exterior wall, added wainscoting and painted a dining room, and rebuilt the front door surround.

Willis Builders did an excellent and very professional job on this project, which ended up posing some unexpected difficulties (and costs) that were not their doing. The project involving gutting (down to the studs) and completely redoing a hall bath located in a second floor dormer space. The dormer location meant that space for piping was tight, which necessitated some redesign work on the fly, and although we had hoped to re-use some of the existing standpipes/drains, they were discovered to be corroded so they ended up having to demo/rebuild a solid concrete floor. They were upfront and highly professional with us throughout that process, and also patient when we sometimes became frustrated with the amount of time that got added to the original estimate. There were also some problems with a plumbing subcontractor who was careless and sloppy (and rude too!) but the company stepped up and took full responsibility for making things right (and I understand that plumber no longer work for them). Bottom line: the work was done painstakingly and right, and the finished bathroom looks wonderful. Some things to keep in mind: the pricing was extremely reasonable but for that price we did our own design work and located/ordered all the fixtures (tub, toilet, vanity, medicine cabinet, plumbing fixtures, lighting, fan, and hardware) ourselves. There weren't that many options for layout given our space, and there's only so much you want to do in a hall bath, so the design part went ok, but I'd want to pay more for professional design in some other types of spaces. As to the procurement part, they provided some helpful guidance when I had questions, but you also would need to be willing to put in a fair amount of time on your own to do the research and find the best prices. Our foreman was Aloisio. He is not a very quick worker, and you need to be patient with some language issues (though his English continually improves and he works hard to learn), but he makes up for it in terms of care and attention to detail. I would recommend him 100%. He is overall a lovely person, as is the company's owner, Matthew Willis.

Thank you so much for your amazing review! We where blessed to work with you and I'm most grateful! I really like how you speak of Aloisio . He receives this feedback on many of his projects. He always shows how much he cares about the clients satisfaction and detail in his work. I'm very blessed to have such a wonderful man on our team. In my 15 years and over 3500 jobs, I have learned that it's the men who make the project. I am a bit over cautious in who allow to represent Willis Builders Inc. I figure if we have 10 jobs going at one time I could get 10 calls in the morning concerned where the workers are. But they are all highly trained to avoid in causing problems. This makes my life a lot easier ! Yes the plumber I had come to the house was with us about a year and towards the end he was having problems. I was sad to let him go but it had to be done. He was very talented with 30 years of experience but he had a tendency to rub people the wrong way. We greatly appreciate our clients and they deserve nothing but respect and understanding. I look forward to our next project! Blessings!
William was the Lead on both jobs and is prompt, helpful, and always professional. With each milestone billing, William provided me with all of the receipts for additional hardware, fixtures, and installed products. They are not always the fastest, which I appreciated as they took the time to advise me and get my agreement when there were design and logistic questions. I am very satisfied with the results and I recommend Willis Builders, Inc. to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy builder who does quality work.
Description of Work: Willis Builders, Inc. finished my basement and laundry room and totally remodeled my downstairs full bath in 2015 and did a great job. This year, 2016, they were able to obtain a permit from the City of Rockville (I had been trying for several years with a previous Contractor) and Willis built me a carport, covered patio, and installed a concrete driveway at my residence. William was the Lead on both jobs and is prompt, helpful, and always professional. With each milestone billing, William provided me with all of the receipts for additional hardware, fixtures, and installed products.

Ahh one of my all time favorite clients. It's so nice to see your review. You where so gracious to work with for both of our projects . I love Willian too! He's on the ball and super responsible. He always shows how much he cares about his projects and clients. That permit was very tricky but since we [Member Information Removed] been there 100 times they know us well. The permitting people [Member Information Removed] become our Freinds over the years so we jumped through the hoops and got the permit. I agree with you that it takes the time it takes to do it right. This is more important then blazing speed. Virtually all additions require modification to the design in one way or the other. This could cause delays of it isn't handle correctly. You where most available to help with the modifications . Thank you for trusting us and allowing us to live up. Blessings!

First, the good: These are very nice guys; they had good suggestions, and were very accommodating. There were no pressure sales tactics and the price for the kitchen and roof was fair. Jesus was excellent on plaster and painting. Now the not so good: We really expected that the quality of the work for a company with an A rating from Angie’s List would be better – not that it was horrible, just not deserving of an A. Montgomery County permitting seemed to be a mystery to them. Framing and trim joints were not always flush, they used 10 nails in places where 2 should have done the trick, and a sledge hammer when a masonry saw was what was needed. Their carpentry work freaked me out so badly that I hired someone else mid-job to install the kitchen cabinets and window trim. Communication was a trial. A month into the job I still wasn’t sure who was in charge or when we should expect them to show up. Honestly, for most of the project, I felt like they had other day jobs. Some days I was sure that they rushed over to the house just before I got home so that it would look like they had been working there that day. Many times work was just rushed. I had to have the service rep out days after the appliances were installed because they didn’t check whether the appliances they installed were functional. Granted, a number of things that went wrong were not their fault, but lots were. To be fair, they fixed what we complained about. I just wasn’t expecting to have to be the one inspecting their work on a daily basis and demanding that they come back to fix things. Rather than self-policing when things were not quite done right, it felt like they were just hoping that I wouldn’t notice.

Thank you for your report and gratitude and constructive feedback. I knew from the beginning your expectations for quality where your motivating factor to hire us. On many occasions you emailed me regarding concerns with quality before the project started or completed in some cases. I know at the end of the project the quality in all areas was to your satisfaction. I remember our rough framing was a concern with you. The county inspector was happy with our work because it was just basic rough framing. It's one reason you lost confidence with our cabinet installation . Rough framing is rough and nothing like cabinet installation finish. Montgomery county required a new modified set of drawings to be drawn due to a change on the applicable roof Framing . We had to wait for the drawing and the county to accept. This was a hidden challenge that we never had before , but we overcame it like all the rest. We had many hold ups due to changes and it had us working the days we could. If it appeared as if we where running over to have you see us working I assure you we would never do that when we could simply communicate we where not able to be present that day. It's not efficient to be productive to run over to a job for an hour or so. It appeared nothing was done but if they are there on the job things always get done regardless of what is seen or interpreted. I'm sorry you felt like we where trying to trick you. Mistrust leads to seeing what one believes then trying to find evidence that it's the truth. If an appliance company installed the appliances they should have tested them. We also had to repair for free the mistakes they made on the cabinetry that we didn't install. But I have learned to be of service regardless of who's responsible . The cabinet people and appliance people are hard workers just like our guys . I was happy to help keep things moving forward regardless if we had done any work on either contractors work. Then we still get blamed for their work. Under stress it is easy to lash out and accuse us of something we should have done like check the appliances. Another challenge we overcame beyond our responsibility. Every job has challenges and I find if the client is ready and know they occur the stress level is much better for everyone. I see a job that has 10 challenges and from experience know this is shockingly low but a homeowner didn't expect a few of these from happening tends to become very stressed. This particular job did in fact have more challenges and one factor is the perspective of the client to question and be concerned over things that are very basic or normal. One many occasions we received communications of great concern later to be explained and understood not to be of any concern. We do have some clients who feel they need to inspect everything and become concerned before we finish or have time to correct the item. This isn't that uncommon and I expect it to happen. I don't mind this because it's just what some people tend to do. If something isn't done right we always fix it. If one thing is left incorrect it affects other items down the road. Leo has been with me 15 years and knows everything about quality and how to do things correct. He did his best and the job turned out amazing . It was a challenge to get there but we always do. Again I love your feedback so we can always increase our level of service.

Thank you very much for your kind response and gratitude for our service. It was a pleasure working with you on our second job. This job was much larger then the first including a full kitchen remodel and floors and trim throughout the entire home. Not to mention both bathrooms upstairs. On a project this size we always have challenges that we have to overcome and glad we where effective in all our solutions. I really love the fact that you got 20 k in cabinets for only 6k from one of our recommended suppliers. The flooring you purchased was under $4 per sft and when we needed more everyone was asking $11 per sft. Look forward to our next project even though I think your home may be fully renovated now!
