The process was not as straightforward and easy as hoped. Our storm door had to be reinstalled. So the workers had to come back (free of charge), and once the storm door was installed on the hinge that would let us in and out of the house easily , it was/is great.

What they did, they did very well. The sub-contractor that arrived was a bit resistant to complete what Willis Builders and I had agreed upon. Therefore, there were some things I wanted done that did not get done. He wasn't comfortable doing some of those things. He showed up on time and completed the jobs in a timely fashion. I am so far pleased with the work.

Mr. Willis was very pleasant and thorough when doing his walk through at my house. The workers he sent to the house were very pleasant and very professional. I wanted them to use eco-friendly materials which they agreed to without any problem. They listened to what I wanted and worked with me providing their experienced advice as to what would be best to solve the house problems.

Overall, everything went very well. The total price was up a bit from original but that was because we asked for the pricier materials for certain portions as well as a bit more detail than a standard porch. Workers were here when we were told they would be and materials were cleaned up as they went. I think my only fuss (and you notice they have an excellent rating so it is small), just working on communications/planning part. On a couple days, they need us home and only told us the day or two before. Being working folks we just needed a bit more warning time. However, they were very flexible when we couldn't be there so it really wasn't an issue. Very happy overall.

The work performed was timely and very high quality. We would definitely use them again but it did take persistance to get my appointment set. Mr. Willis was great and responsive but it took several rounds of emails to get an appointment date set. All in all, the company did a great job and we'd use them again for other handyman issues.

I purchased Angie's Big Deal for 2 hours of handyman services. The contract and punch list were handled via email and I was promptly contacted to set up an appointment. Prior to the scheduled time, the handyman called in advance to say he'd be a few minutes late and arrived at the new time as promised. He was very personable and professional. I'm pleased with the quality and quantity of all the work performed. He did a good job in mounting the smoke alarms so that the existing holes in the ceiling were covered and ensured that the 3 wall plaques were mounted at the same level. We also discussed additional work I'm planning to do in the future and he offered some recommendations for purchasing flooring. It was an overall good experience from start to finish. I would use their services again and recommend them to anyone in need of a handyman.

I managed to get fairly quick appointment and at the time the services were performed, they seemed to be done quite well. The handymen were pleasant and arrived on time. They repaired the ceiling drywall and repaired a broken pipe (and surrounding drywall) satisfactorily. However, (i) they couldn't come up with a solution for a rusty leaking faucet that didn't involve cutting through the bedroom drywall (another vendor was later able to do so) and (ii) another repair that they did to the basement bathroom floor that suffered some water damage has since regressed (i.e. the floor covering is warped again as it was prior to the repair). Overall, though, I was satisfied with the work performed and the responsiveness and professionalism of the handymen.

I had a great experience with the Willis Builder contractor. He arrived on time, he was very courteous and did a great job. I highly recommend the company!

The men were professional, and did excellent work. They completed the initial work and the unexpected work to repair the damaged window and drywall. I was very pleased with the company.

Terrible communication. Don't show up when they say AND are late when they do. The carpenter didn't show up on the date he said he would and then showed up two days later with no notice. Since I was already gone for work, my wife reminded them of the project. They completely over engineered the project, wasting valuable time, and didnt follow the earlier instructions given when they surveyed the job. The charge was for 40 hours of a Handyman, yet I received a Handyman and helper in essence paying for hours of a Handyman, yet receiving the service of the helper. (20 hours of carpenter and 20 hours of a helper) When I asked for an additional bid for painting, the estimate was twice the cost of any other I received. I received NO followup. No satisfaction at all. Disappointed to say the least. I wish this wasn't so, because all of the people I interacted with were pleasant and seem kind. However, I was very disappointed. VERY.

I purchased the Angie's list coupon for 40 hours of Handyman service. We arranged to get all of our interior doors replaced and two of our exterior doors replaced and framed in. The price reflects that of the coupon as well as parts. Our house was built in the 1950s so it took quite a bit of effort to frame out the new prehung doors. Overall the work was well done and professional. Gustavo and his team always arrived on time. There were some issues with communication and billing on top of the coupon price, but we were happy that Matthew was willing to work with us and in the end resolved the problem.

My garage was damaged when a severe windstorm dropped a 22 inch diameter tree limb on it's roof. It's structure was compromised as well as the roof. I contacted Willis Builders via Angies List and the very next morning was paid a visit by Mr. Rob Morris. We spoke at length and plans were set in motion to begin repairs. My insurance company was reluctant to issue the necessary monies required and, here is where Willis Builders stepped up and went to bat for me. After 3 months waiting and repeated meetings with insurance claims adjusters Rob argued their point and secured the proper funds so work could begin. Once work started it was swift and performed with absolute professionalism. Being a retired member of the hard-hat construction industry of more than 38 years I was most impressed by Willis Builders employees skill set. Each and every detail was seen to accurately and exceeded my expectations at every turn. The final finished product is over the top and I couldn't be more satisfied. They truly provided a "well done job" that I genuinely believe is above and beyond what I would have received from any other building contractor in my area. From the workers obvious knowledge of their trade to their polite and accommodating performance to the fair and just pricing of the overall job, I cannot say enough good things about Willis Builders and wouldn't hesitate to refer them to friends and family alike.

Willis Builders did a good job. Alencar and Victor worked very hard for us. From the moment they arrived to our home, they were respectful, responsive and explained every step of the project. At the end of each day, they had us sign off on the hours used for the day so we had a common understanding of the hours left on our project and what was left to complete. Willis Builders were very clean and efficient and made sure we were comfortable with the work being completed. The project did go over hours, but Willis Builders was fair about the overage. I must admit I was concerned about a time and materials project, but Willis Builders wasted no time and worked hard to get our project completed quickly and to our satisfaction.

We had a little hiccup at the beginning of the process when Willis couldn't honor the initial appointment date but they more than made up for it by sending Rodrigo the following weekend. He came on time, assessed the project and determined what materials that I didn't have on hand to complete it and even went to Lowe's to supplement the items. He removed a rotted basement window and installed glass blocks in the opening. The whole job was done incredibly professionally and thoroughly. And honestly, the window looks fantastic. We had some water damage from "Sandy" this weekend and I will be calling Willis Builders for assistance and repairs.

Our house was damaged by a huge tree branch that came down during the June derecho storm and was not habitable for two months. The Willis team came out the next day to help remove the tree from the roof and the tree debris from around our property. From there, they quickly had Rob come visit when our insurance adjuster was present to do a walk-through of all the damage - exterior and interior - and help us navigate the process. We had used Willis previously for some other work (e.g, interior painting, refinishing cabinets, handyman projects, roof repair from a smaller limb, patching from water damage, etc.) and had been very pleased with their quality, responsiveness, reliability, honesty, and customer-focused service approach. We could not have been more pleased with them this time - prompt, supportive, kind, professional, responsible, reliable. Their estimate of the time the project would take (once our insurance process was complete) was spot-on - they did not delay in commencing the work and stayed on the timeline, especially since we were eager to return to our home. Rob and Luis are fantastic, as is Matthew (the owner) - we recommend them to all our friends and neighbors and would not hesitate to use them again for projects of all sizes and types.

We had Willis Builders finish our basement a few months ago and we are very happy with the results, so I already knew we had a great partner for our next major home improvement project. Matthew and his guys came by to take a look at the existing bathroom and I described to them our ideas for the remodel. They offered their suggestions of what they thought might work best and we agreed to move forward. They started with a demo of the old bath, including busting out the old tile, removing the old sink, toilet, ripping up the floor, etc. We were impressed during this time of mess how they put up plastic sheeting to protect our bedroom and closet. They also were very careful to place drop clothes in our hallways and stairs to protect our home as they hauled everything out. We also needed to open up some walls so we could move electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. So it was pretty much down to the studs after demo. Over the next three weeks they rebuilt the bathroom and installed everything I selected for our new bath, the toilet, unique shower doors, double vanity, lights, exhaust fan. They also installed the new tile floor, baseboards, painted, etc. These guys really care how the job turns out and worked with us every step of the way to ensure our complete satisfaction. They have my highest recommendation for any project!

It is scenarios like this that I described above that make me a huge fan of Willis, more specifically Marcelo and Luis. They go above and beyond and do things with special attention to detail. It many of these cases when they did this, it took extra time. In this most recent case, I was not charged for the visit so it was not as if they took extra time to make the bars match just so they could bill me more. Like other contractors or service providers I have had in the past, they are quick to point out what they did "above and beyond" or try to convince you they did something extra to make you feel special. However, Willis never bragged about these extra efforts or thoughtfulness because it seems that going above and beyond was just their normal business practice. I have more projects I need done and look forward to having Marcelo and Luis come back as I will always turn to Willis for any future needs and recommend them to friends.

I purchased the handyman for a day deal. When I was making the purchased, and I called and spoke to someone about what it would cover and how it would work. The conversation was very helpful. Shortly after I purchased the deal, I received a contract, which I signed and sent in right away. But then I did not hear back from them. I tried contacting them several times (email, phone), but never heard back. After about 3 weeks, I gave up and went with another contractor on Angie's List who was offering a big deal and they did a fantastic job.

Excellent work. I'd hire them again.

The initial walk through with Matthew Willis and the carpenter/handyman assigned to the project, Aloisio Reis, was very complete, professional, and informative. The repairs by Mr. Reis were undertaken with and eye to quality and thoroughness - something I particularly appreciated. Moreover, I also appreciated that he worked diligently and efficiently all the time, trying always to maximize the use of his time . I was very happy with the end results in each of the repairs undertaken. I strongly recommend this firm and - in particular - Aloisio Reis, the carpenter/handyman who undertook the work.

6134I had contacted Willis Builders to repair a room after another roofer, who we hired to take care of a problem caused by the last hurricane, to fix a roof. We sent the other roofer half the cost, and the work was never done. Matthew Willis actually gave me advice on dealing with the other contractor, which I greatly appreciated. Once I realized the work was never going to get done, and more and more damage was happening to the interior of a really great house, with renters living in it, I asked Matthew to handle the work. He had told me earlier that they repair roofs, but never pressed for the work! Once they were contracted, within two weeks, the entire repair was done. And both the renter and I were thrilled. The work included removing decades old drywall that was molded from the damage, including the entire ceiling and part of a wall. Then it became the whole wall. Roberto explained everything, sent me pictures and gave me options. He was always pleasant, even when dealing with a difficult individual. My renter was constantly up and down the stairs, badgering him about what was being done and insisting that he not do anything that wasn't specifically asked for, which he wasn't doing anyway. She didn't want to move, as we had failed a couple of inspections, and DCHA was going to make her move. We failed the next one because it happened before we could get the work completed, but the repairs helped us to sell the house later.

Marcelo and Luis were fantastic. They were professional, thoughtful and detail oriented. Marcelo helped brainstorm ideas that were better than what I asked for (that did not require more time or money) and worked on my house with care and attention to it as if it was his own. They never left a trace and cleaned up exceptionally well after they left. I was extremely pleased with the entire process from the first visit for my estimate through the work that Marcelo and Luis completed. It was one of the best experiences I have had with a vendor in my home. I will always call on Willis in the future and will request Marcelo and Luis specifically.
