Job took twice as long as expected and was not finished at the end of time even with two workers. Because it was two workers time actually spent was 3.25 hours instead of 6.5 hours. The two workers did not work separately to complete job so essentially it was like having only one worker on the job.

Ok sorry we sent you two guys and had one watch the other. When you have a man on a ladder it is absolutely needed to have two men . Job wasn't finished at the end, so the client decided to leave an unfinished job because they didn't want to spend more then $319. The problem with the coupons we sell we don't get to filter our clients. Sorry for being sarcastic on the first line but it always upsets me when I have clients think two men are not needed or productive.

I actually wouldn't be that pleased with that service. But I won't say that their quality of service was bad or anything like that. They weren't able to do it in two hours. They came out to do the work, and then, when they came out, they hadn't done an assessment and to know what they needed to do to work. So, the two hours would have had to include to get the materials, which is not really part of the scope of the work. They used the two hours to go to buy the products. And that's not a part of the service. And I would have been charged more and to pay an extra amount of money for the wood itself. But they were friendly, respectful and professional.

Response from Willis Builders Inc
On your contract it says very clearly you will pay us to purchase materials and reimburse us for your materials. I cant understand how people actually think we charge $145 to Buy $200 in materials and work for 3 hours. So we would pay you to work at your house and give you $55 worth of materials. I Will never offer a two hour coupon ever again. The figuring out the materials and purchasing is a job and a skill , therefore people should be paid for their time to perform this job. So let me recap , Client expects to pay $145 to visit, look, measure , purchase materials for $200 then drive back from the store (gas)( Vehicle use) (time) with the materials. Then Install them properly in three hours. I wish we could do this because if we could we would be the highest ranking company on Angies List ever. We would be ranked very high but would be out of business rather quickly.

When they finish they left without cleaning and after 2 weeks they came back to collect payment. It is very unusual. Normally after the work is done one collect payment the same day or maybe on the next day the latest I am sorry but I did not have a positive experience
Description of Work: Work will be started in February, so I can not give a review yet. But they have come to talk about the work to be done. They are the most wonderful people I have ever met. I will be giving a review later when work is done. I am sorry I can not yet give a complete review since they did not finish the work yet, which I could not understand April 29, 2013 Work was done not on what we have agreed upon. instead of making the steps of the porch lower they made it rise which made it more uncomfortable. The reason they gave me is that they followed the standard of the County. If I was told I would not make the repair. The main reason why I have it repaired is to make it comfortable for the children in my child care They did not work contineuosly. If they did work contineously I believe the work could be done in a few days but it took more than four weeks to finish, since they come and go. It made my customer very uncomfortable. We also argued not only on how their work was done but also the amount they have charged me. This porch is an ordinary porch - a small porch and I have spent way too much I believe

The job went very well. I purchased a Big Deal for 6.5 hours of handyman services. The deal didn't say anything about an initial look at the job, but when I requested one, Roderigo kindly complied and did not count that time toward the deal. After looking at the job, he told me that he couldn't guarantee a good repair to the broken built-in drawer cabinet, because of where it was situated (in the eave of a cape cod). He said he would fix it as best as he could but with no guarantees. He also suggested I take a look at new cabinets, since the existing ones were very cheap. I ended up buying all new cabinets (the price quoted is only for the labor and doesn't include the cost of the cabinets). Roderigo was very responsive about rescheduling the job when I decided to purchase new cabinets, and when he was caught in traffic on the way to my house, he both called and emailed to let me know. Once he got started, he was efficient and neat.
Description of Work: Four banks of built-in drawers were removed and replaced.

Met with Mr. Willis to discuss kitchen renovation. He submitted a contract laying out everything to be done. His contract was for labor only. Actual supplies and materials costs were an additional charge (which turned out to be a problem later). We accepted the contract and he told me when work would start. His employee (we will call him John) showed up on the appointed day. He was the "team". John was very professional and courteous, but I feel he could have used some help at times. During the work I was receiving bills for supplies and materials (e.g. dry walling knives, 4 boxes of dry wall screws to put up 4 pieces of dry wall and a lot of miscellaneous stuff). I asked Mr. Willis about it and he said I had to talk to John. Another issue came up and again Mr. Willis' response was I had to talk to John. I finally had a long discussion with Mr. Willis, that I did not hire John, I hired him. He was the contractor and he was the person I should be dealing with. He didn't seem to happy about that, but he started to talk to me a little. It turned out that I was not supposed to be billed for reusable supplies (such as dry wall knives). So Mr. Willis readjusted some of the bills, but I had to double check everything. If I didn't I would have paid for things I was not supposed. He told be all the other supplies I paid for would be left for me. Most of these were taken by John and when I pointed this out to Mr. Willis, he was back to "you need to talk to John about it". The kitchen turned out well in general. Some of the baseboard and other molding wasn't put on correctly and as started to fall off or is loose. I've had to fix most of it myself. While the kitchen turned out nice, I am a little put off by Mr. Willis' standoffish manner. He is very friendly and knowledgeable, but did not seem to talk to me about problems. He was the person I hired, not John. I feel he is the person I should be dealing with problems, not John. I was a little disappointed with the whole experience.
Description of Work: Removed old kitchen cabinets. Removed kitchen ceiling, including lights. Raised the ceiling and installed new lights. Installed new cabinets.

It went well. He started with the bathrooms upstairs caulking tub, shower, sinks, tile. Then hung valance over bed, caulked window sills. then downstairs repaired storm door, caulked windows in livingroom and dining room, hung ceiling medallion. Very helpful.
Description of Work: Caulking bathrooms, bedroom valance, tile repair, ceiling medallion, storm door repair.
Everything was fine. They responded to my work request quickly.. showed up on time... fixed a worrisome spot on my house (wood trip was rotten and I feared I'd start having more damage inside) and even showed me how to change two difficult lights inside. I didn't hesitate to call them back when I started having a leak in my bathroom after doing a small repair myself. They came out the same evening to evaluate my problem and showed up the next day with the part to fix it. They even fixed another problem while waiting for the glue to set. Without going into too much detail, it was a problem a plumber had told me I needed a whole new bathroom to fix.
Description of Work: Replaced rotten trim wood at the corner of my chimney A few months later I called them again because I had a leak from my toilet. They earned the same Excellent rating for that job also.

I purchased Willis Builders' "Big Deal" offer of 6.5 hours of handyman services for $319. I needed to have a TV mounted and the desired location presented certain difficulties. The company sent two men who quickly determined the best way to achieve the installation. They had all materials necessary to complete the job on hand. After of the TV was mounted they connected all of the components and made sure everything was working properly. There was no damage or mess since the workers carefully covered affected areas with plastic sheeting and were very neat, cleaning up everything when the job was done. I had some additional work done including repairs to my kitchen cabinets. The job wound up costing more than the "deal" amount but I was pleased with the work!

They were a little late arriving but started the work right away. They didn't bring the right type of outlet covers so I went out to buy myself while they worked on other repairs. For the coupon price, their work was well worth the money. The main contact, Rob was responsive but it did take a few emails to get a response on scheduling from the guy who actually did the repairs. They cleaned up after themselves and did the work in the allotted time.

Overall I was very pleased with the workmanship. The bi-fold door still gives me trouble but I think it is more a function of it's size, not the work done. I would have appreciated it however if the garage was vacumed after all the sawing was done since that gets tracked into the house.
Description of Work: They fixed the steps to my garage door and made them more accessible for my physically handicapped son. They secured them to the wall so I don,t have to worry about them flipping up now. They also hung new bedroom and closet doors for me. They tried to repair a bi-fold closet door too.
Contractor was slow respnding to us initially because they were overwhelmed by the response to the Big Deal.

We chose Willis based on Angie's List reviews, and they did not disappoint. Rob Morse and William were wonderfully responsive and answered my (many) questions. They worked with us to find "work arounds" to the things which can happen with old houses. All the 'specialists' that came to our house (chimney repair, roofers, repair and paint outside, patch and paint inside) were also competent, efficient and professional. They also cleaned up after themselves every day! Our new steps outside our kitchen door -- while still just functional concrete -- look SO much better than they did before. We've already recommended Willis to people, and hope to be able to use them again in the future. Thank you!
Description of Work: When our neighbor's tree fell onto our roof, our insurance company covered all the repairs. We needed: shingle roof replaced, patch to flat bitumen roof, repair and paint roof railing, window screen replacement, indoor patch and paint and a concrete landing replacement.

We used the 20 hour coupon for interior painting. Gustavo called frequently after I purchased the coupon to schedule, which I appreciated. Gustavo and Hector were attentive, prompt, efficient, and did a great job. We'll be using them again.
I contacted Willis Builders the day I purchased my Angie's List coupon and got an immediate response from Matthew indicating that Vin was going to be the handyman that came to my home to do several small projects. It took a little while to schedule (about 2 weeks), but Vin showed up on time, did a great job, and left without a mess. I highly recommend Willis Builders for a large assortment of handyman work.

Matthew Willis met with us to go over the work and see what would be required. He set a date about 4 weeks later to start. Once the work started, the two workers were there each day until done, and finished both jobs the first week. They were courteous and careful not to interfere with the rest of the house to the extent they could, and cleaned up very well each day. We were very pleased at the results of both tasks. The new pocket doors work perfectly, and it is impossible to see where the drywall was repaired and repainted. The new porch screen system is much better than the old stapled-on screen.
Description of Work: We bought an Angie's List special for 40 hours of handyman labor. We had them do two projects. First, we had two pocket doors that did not work, because the hardware inside the wall had failed. The Willis team cut holes in drywall for access, installed new high-quality door hardware, patched the wall, and matched the existing paint color to finish. Second, we had them rescreen a screened porch. Instead of using sheet screen as we had before, they installed individual panels that can be repaired or replaced individually without replacing the entire porch screen. Each square had to be individually fabricated to fit. With two workers, a carpenter and a laborer, they went only a few hours over the 40 I had paid for in doing both jobs.
