We switched from oil heat to natural gas ~ 15 years ago. At that time, the oil was removed from the buried 1000-gal oil tank and a couple of bags of sand were added to the tank. For several reasons, we decided to have the oil tank removed. We received a few bids and based on recommendations from a realtor friend decided to go with Floyd E. Cline & Sons. They showed up promptly and did the job very competently and carefully. This was important as the oil tank was buried very close to the house and to a water pipe that connects the well to the house. Fortunately, the oil tank was in good shape and there was absolutely no evidence of contamination in the surrounding soil. Even better, there was very little (~ 10 gallons) sludge in the tank. Floyd E. Cline & Sons backfilled the hole with the excavated soil and with some top soil that they provided. They were good people to deal with and their price was competitive.

Brian Cline gave me a prompt, on-site estimate for removing the old oil tank, which included pumping out residue, checking for leaks, re-grading and seeding the site, and general cleanup. The also provide a certificate of removal and disposal according to Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations. The work was done on quickly and on schedule, and it was obvious from the professional way it was executed that they knew what they were doing. The old tank was dug out and removed and the hole backfilled, graded, and seeded. The whole job took around three hours, including a trip to obtain more fill dirt. There was one slight accident in which the backhoe damaged a split-rail gate as it was leaving the yard. Brian immediately agreed to pay for repair or replacement, using a contractor of my choosing, which was later done. I received the MDE certificate a few days after the work was done.
