Mike did a great job for me. He accommodated the urgency of my repair as we were having an open house very soon after I contacted him. He came and gave me an estimate. We decided to go ahead with repair. He was timely, courteous and very capable. Would definitely hire again.
Description of Work: Called Mike for a fix on some old window panes in an over 40 year old house.

He is my first call for a lot of things. But I have found that he goes to other people to get the work done which means that I pay him and I pay the other guy so I am trying to go a little more direct. I needed painting and he does not like to paint so rather than ask him to send the painter out here I think I would look for one on my own. The first time I really appreciated it because I really did not know what to do. But I would at this point look for somebody on Angies List myself. His prices seem to be a bit high for the job he did for me the last time but he had made a number of trips and considering that I don't think that it was. He did the dry wall and I did the painting. He is personable and he is trustworthy. I am home alone and he was referred to me by a friend. I used because of that and then I realized that. He is also on Angies List and I am comfortable of having people who are in Angies List. He is great and he has done a real good job on everything that I have asked to do.
Description of Work: I used Tiffany's Renovations to do some caulking for me. He also fixed some leak on the dry wall for me. He also fixed some nail pops, miscellaneous cracks, some damages in the bathrooms.

I have been very, very pleased with Michael. He was personable and efficient. He answered questions well. He did a very, very nice job on everything I asked him to do so far. He charged $60 an hour for him and a helper. He was the expert and the helper was doing some good work under his leadership so I was pleased. He is the only person I've used but the price didn't sound bad to me. I didn't compare his prices. I like him so I went back to him. He's a busy guy and has been responsive to my calls. He just hasn't gotten here quick because he takes the jobs the way they are. That's a good thing because I wouldn't want him leaving my jobsite unless it was a real emergency.
Description of Work: I used Tiffany's Renovations to do some window repairs that were leaking from a hurricane. This last week he helped with some water leak repairs and caulking for a slider door. He did some painting and he did some things to preserve the wood where the leak was.

The first step was the demo of the first floor. I knew that there was a termite problem before the work started but it proved to be much more damage that was expected. The wood floor had been laid with 2x6s on a dirt floor (house barn floor) by the previous home owner. Luckily the damage did not extend to the second floor and the concrete block internal walls limited the damage to non-structural areas. The quality of the work performed by Mike was first rate. There were subcontractors for laying the cement floor, ceramic tile, and plumbing who were all very excellent in the quality of the work performed. Examples: the cement contractor covered the door through which the cement was delivered and did no damage. The ceramic tile contractor cut rounds and various angles I didn't know was possible, very professional. The plumbing contractor suggested some improvements to design for proper flow at no added cost. I have done a number of remodels over the years on 4 homes and subcontractors were always a major problem. Not with the people Mike uses. He insists on the same level of quality for their work. Mike did all the cabinet installations including a free standing bar that was very difficult due to the uneven floor in the sunroom area. The floor had been poured long before I bought the house and the tile person I got to lay ceramic tile (separate job not related to Mike) did not properly level the floor. Mike was able to put the bar together despite the uneven floor, a wine refrigerator and a kegerator which prevented a simple "screw everything together" solution. Mike takes great pride in his work and the quality of the finished job. He is a detail man and wants you to be happy with the end job. Example: Mike uses special high strength steel screws to install cabinets rather than black sheet rock screws most installers use which break easily. He includes brass washers to enhance the appearance of the finished job. I costed this job out with 2 other well known contractors. One was double the cost I got from Mike. The other has about $25,000 more expensive. What made the difference? Mike allowed me to buy cabinets and appliances directly with no standard 30% markup. Now that is not worth the money saved, so bottom line, Mike provides a great product at a great price that you can be proud to have in your home.
Description of Work: Remodeling an old horse barn that had been previously remodeled by a do-it-yourself "joe homeowner" into a living space. Job involved gutting first floor and putting in a cement slab floor, ceramic tile throughout, new bathroom, new kitchen, new pantry, and new wet bar in adjacent sunroom.

Installation of a wood beam and glass sunroom is much more difficult than the typical aluminum structure. Aluminum allows a lot more room for poor tolerances on dimensions. In a wood beam structure, the tolerances have to be exact if the structure is to fit together properly and look good. In this case, Mike was dealing with an existing cement floor that was badly out of level. It had been laid that way to encourage rain runoff not only away from the house but to the side as well. Mike set a level base for the sunroom walls in one day that dealt with the difficult multi-dimensional slope. During construction, he added a number of improvements that was not in the standard manufacture's installation plans including using a "rubber" gasket material for all interfaces between the sunroom and the house brick or cement floor. He also cut a line into the brick where the sunroom roof meets the house brick to accept metal flashing to seal out rain water more effectively. The sunroom included a non-standard sliding side door I added to enhance ventilation. Mike could not get any direction from the manufacturer (4 Season's Sunrooms) for installation. He was able to install the door and trim it out beautifully, something the local 4 Season's contractor had not done before. When it came to finish trim on the sunroom, Mike added trim in a number of places to enhance the look and hide what could only be seen in reflection from the glass ceiling. Mike was so meticulous in his attention to details and asked my preferences in a number of situations where there was a choice or he came up with suggested improvements. This guy is a very hard worker who takes great pride in his work. He wants to get it done right and make the customer happy with the finished product.
Description of Work: Removal of old patio enclosure and installation of new sun room. The old enclosure was an aluminum structure that leaked badly (water and cold air). The new one was a wood beam and glass structure, 33' x 14'.
