The Home Wise Pros Roofing

Jay and his crew were very professional. Jay honored his appointment times and tried to give me realistic start dates which were contingent on the weather. He had to postpone one scheduled start due to weather but Jay informed us when the date was changed. The existing roof was very old and a wind storm had lifted an old ridge vent section. That problem was the signal that the roof needed to be replaced. It's noteworthy that another spring storm ripped off the old ridge vent completely leaving the gap open to pending rain. The contract had been signed but work was not scheduled for another week. When I told Jay about the problem, he had his foreman, Elmer make a special Saturday trip to put a temporary layer of shingles down on the ridge. The shingles and all of the materials were delivered by another company a few days before the job. My roof was in bad shape and we asked Jay to schedule it ASAP. It should be noted that the contract was signed on March 17th and the roof was completed one week later. The job was scheduled to start around 8 AM on the following Thursday. There was a pretty bad accident on the Beltway but Jay called shortly after 8 AM to advise me that they were delayed by traffic. They arrived at 9 AM. , The crew laid tarps completely around the house and they started removing the old roof. As predicted there were many sections of plywood that were really in bad shape. Each sheet was documented by photos so I could see the areas needing new plywood. They applied the synthetic paper, winter guard strip and shingles to the front of the roof. The front was largely complete by 1 PM. They completed the back roof and garage around 5 PM. As the roofers worked on the roof another crew member was gathering up the old roof shingles and damaged plywood. When the rest of the crew completed the roof, they removed all of the debris, tarps and made multiple magnet sweeps of the yard and surrounding areas. I haven't found a single nail anywhere. The blew off the entire patio, driveway areas. When they left, the yard was as clean as it was before they arrived and no shrubs or flowers were damaged. I didn't have to interact too much with the crew since the foreman and the crew was well organized and worked together well. I've had a couple of roofs replaced on different houses over the years. I had the good luck of having another firm in Georgia who also did a great job for me. Some of my friends and relatives haven't had good experiences with roofing jobs. I think that Home Wise provided the best service, price and quality that I've experienced. Jay was punctual, thoroughly professional and explained the process, materials and methods and answered all of my questions about the installation. Our house was in dire need of a roof replacement; we were working with contractor grade shingles from '97 so it was only a matter of time before major issues started happening. We contacted four separate roofing companies for quotes and sat down with each one to review their product and service. From the initial phone call, we felt that Home Wise was going to be a very trustworthy company to work with and we were not disappointed. The owner, Jay, came by our house to provide the estimate which was very competitive and was able to answer all our questions. An added bonus, between the time of agreement to go with Home Wise for a new roof and the scheduled date for installation, Home Wise does send someone out to your house to inspect the roof for any short-term issues that may need to be addressed between now and then, putting us at ease we were not going to suddenly have a gushing leak somewhere. Jay's team was able to complete our two-story (3000 sqft) house in a single day and the roof looks amazing! Overall, we are extremely pleased with Home Wise's professionalism, communication and craftsmanship and would absolutely recommend them to anyone in need of a new roof, you will not be disappointed.

The process went well. We met with Jay and several other roofers. Though Jay's quote wasn't the least expensive, it wasn't the most either. He was very personable and knowledgable. He helped guide our decision making with good insights. His crew was on time, professional, and courteous. Jay accommodated our requirements, which included not starting the project for about 6 months after we initially met him. Additionally, though we were scheduled for a date later in March, he was able to fit us in a little earlier due to an unplanned opening in his schedule. All in all, we were very pleased with the entire transaction.

After developing a leak in our 20 year old roof, we knew that we would likely need to replace it. And so the search began to find the right contractor. We met with representatives from several companies, who provided quotes. Many of them were helpful and responsive, but Jay Gleason, owner of Home Wise Pros, won our trust. To begin with, Jay has excellent ratings for roof replacements on Angie's List and with the Better Business Bureau. He arrived promptly for our first appointment, respecting our time, and even called fifteen minutes ahead of time to confirm that he was en route. Right from the start, it was obvious that Jay knew his stuff. He explained the whole process in detail by showing us pictures of another recent roofing job he had done. He very patiently answered all of our questions. Integrity is important to me. Jay gained my respect and trust when he passed on various opportunities to sell us more expensive options that we didn't need, or weren't in our best interest. He supplied us with several references. We spoke with a few of his clients, and it was obvious they thought very highly of him and were very pleased with his company's work. I appreciate that he specializes solely on roofing and gutters, making him an expert in what he does. Jay's policy is to be personally, on-sight the entire time, overseeing the job. Throughout the day, he called with progress updates. I believe that this speaks volumes about his dedication to seeing the job done well. He documented the entire process with pictures so that we could see what everything looked like before, during and afterwards. For instance, pictures were taken of the rotten plywood that needed to be replaced. He set up an appointment a few days later to review the job. After seeing the slide show of our roofing job, it only confirmed Jay is very detailed orientated and organized. Jay Gleason is a knowledgeable, honest, hands-on businessman who really cares about doing a top notch job. We highly recommend the Home Wise Pros for any roofing or gutter job that you have. As I was comparing different providers, Jay answered questions patiently on multiple occasions, and then offered me what I thought was a very reasonable deal on a new roof. He kept us very much informed on the status of our job, which was delayed due to the snow and other adverse weather conditions. The Home Wise Pros did a great job with our roof replacement. Jay met with me and provided a cost estimate to replace our roof that was well below what we were expecting. He didn't try to upsell with products we didn't need and I feel like the roof he put on our house is the same he would on his house. He gave great advice through the process, helped us to coordinate details with our HVAC contractor so that a oil furnace stack could be removed and the roof repaired as if it had never been there (we had our oil furnace removed a few weeks earlier and wanted to have the unused stack removed), and left everything so clean after the job was done so that other than a nice brand new roof you would never know they had been at our house. Communication was great, the Home Wise Pros kept us informed throughout the process and clearly laid out all of the details for the replacement. Our roof was replaced in one day and it looks great. I would have no hesitiation recommending the Home Wise Pros to friends and family. Our experience couldn't have been better.

It was a pleasure working with Home Wise Pros. The owner Jay Gleason came to my house to explain everything that would be done to replace the old roof. The work was originally scheduled for some time in March but due to an opening in the schedule he was able to do it one month earlier. He took photos of the work as it was being done, showing all the bad wood that needed to be replaced under the shingles and the new wood that he put in plus flashing around the chimney and pipes. The price was less than I expected and the roof looks great.

Jay Gleason , the owner, was extremely responsive throughout the entire process. He came to our house to meet with us to explain the process and provided a no pressure estimate that we found to be very reasonable. Due to weather issues, our work had to be rescheduled a few times and Jay let us know all along the way what the plans were moving forward. When the time came to do the work, Jay and his team showed up on time and took steps to protect our property before starting the job. His crew was courteous and hard working throughout the entire job. They cleaned up the job site at the end of the first day and at the end of the project on the second day. I think they said they would provide an infrared and they skipped it. That was kind of important.

I highly recommend Jay Gleason of The Home Wise Pros! Jay Gleason of The Home Wise Pros just replaced our 23 -25 year old roof with an architectural roof, guaranteed for 50 years. At the initial meeting, Jay came already prepared with pictures of our roof and an explanation of what he would do. He showed me pictures of another roof he had recently installed to basically illustrate in pictures what he was explaining verbally. He explained everything thoroughly as to what he would do. At the time I met with him, we had 2 other roofing estimates, one of which also used CertainTeed products, as he does. I showed them to Jay and he went over the estimates and showed how his work goes above and beyond code. If I am remembering correctly, some of the areas in which he exceeds the code standards are the ice and water protection and the type of roofing paper he uses. There may be other areas which I have forgotten. Home Wise's estimate was a little bit higher than the other 2 estimates, but definitely in the ball park with the other estimates and within our budget for this work. We went with Jay because of his thorough explanation and willingness to answer questions after his initial presentation. In fact, my husband could not be home when Jay visited our house, but returned my husband's call to answer all of his questions. We also appreciated that the initial deposit to lock in the price with Home Wise was lower than the other estimates - $500 versus $1000-2000. Neither my husband nor I were home when the roof was installed, but Jay kept me informed throughout the day on his progress. He let me know that he had to replace several sheets of plywood underneath the roof due to water damage. Since he had already explained that in the initial meeting, I was not unprepared for this news. The work started around 7:30 a.m. and they concluded around 4 or 4:30. Clean-up was excellent. I did not find any debris or nails. Jay's procedure is to take pictures of the entire job as it is being done. He then meets with you to show the pictures and explain what was done. For instance, he had pictures of each of the plywood pieces that had to be replaced to show me the water damage and why they had to be replaced. He made suggestions about repairing cracks in the chimney and the gutters and had pictures to show me of these areas. He answered all of my questions at this closing meeting. Jay and Home Wise Pros does an excellent job and I am happy to recommend him to others.

Jay and The Home Wise Pros did a great job on my roof. I had gotten several estimates from different roofing companies and The Home Wise Pros turned out to be the best value. I was really pleased with how responsive Jay was to all my questions from the initial estimate to the final inspection. Buying a new roof can be a stressful experience, but everything with The Home Wise Pros went smoothly. They delivered the material when they said they would, showed up a little late but let me know when they were coming and let me know when they were done for the day. They were able to finish the roof in one day, but they came back for about an hour the following day to make sure they picked up all the nails/debris, seal everything, and paint the pipes. Time will tell how well the roof holds up, but it looks great and I feel comfortable knowing that it's all backed with a labor and manufacturer's warranty. I had a really positive experience with the Home Wise Pros and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a roof replacement.

What a terrific roofing experience from start to finish. We found Jay Gleason through Angie?s List and after interviewing numerous other candidates, we hired The Home Wise Pros to replace our 20 year builder?s grade roof. The finished product is spectacular, with protection and looks superior to our original roof. Owner, Jay Gleason, knows his business. He does roofs and only roofs. He was on-site overseeing the work and kept us informed during the entire process. His team exceeded our expectations in every way. Jay was on-time for all our meetings, he returned our calls quickly, explained the roofing procedure and the benefits of his installation method and the quality materials he uses. His business is rated a ShingleMaster certified installer and the finished product is proof positive of his excellent workmanship. Jay photographed the entire re-roofing procedure, from tarping our plants, tearing off the old materials, replacing decayed roof decking, replacing pipe collars, chimney flashing, ice and water protection around roof penetrations, new drip edges, high quality underlayment and a terrific shingled ridge vent. The clean-up left everything looking better than they found it. Plus the architectural shingles themselves are highly rated for color consistency and when compared to all major brands they are a Consumer Reports ?best buy?. Jay was great. He came on time and well prepared. He explained the details and listened carefully to what we expected from him. He provided lots of images from his work and explained the details why things were done in a certain way. We also were working with another contractor at the same time who did the rake boards etc and will do the gutters next week. Jay did an excellent job in aligning with the other contractor. The new roof looks great, the old pipes are painted and all seals were replaced. Everything was on time and whenever we called, Jay knew what was going on and we always felt he was on top of every single detail. His team cleaned up great - better than it was before. Three screens got damaged from falling shingles and Jay pointed this out to us before we noticed. They already are fully repaired. After the work was done, he showed us the pictures that were taken during the work so we know exactly what the state of our roof was - in our case we were glad we got it fixed before winter, because the builders of the house had not installed drip edges and the extent of the damage became obvious once the old shingles were removed. I think there are 2 choices for a house: If you just need the roof fixed because you are moving out and need it done cheap - pick someone else. If you want a great roof you don't want to worry about because you intend to stay in the house - pick Jay. Your problem if you pick someone else over Jay.

We bought a fixer upper with the knowledge we would need a new roof. After putting it off we finally made the jump and started getting quotes. The home wise pros had good reviews so they were one of the first quotes we got. Their quote stayed the lowest with the least amount of salesman games. Other companies wanted my wife to be present so they could try to get a different sales angle etc... The home wise pros keep the estimate short and sweet. The owner was always available every time I called him. They completed the work in one day, and they even finished hours ahead of schedule. I was updated throughout the day on the progress of the roof. They even recommended ways to minimize the cost of replacing rotting wood. After the roof was completed my yard was cleaned and all traces of the process was gone. I highly recommend this company

After reading many reviews on Angies list, I decided to call the Home Wise Pros regarding a roof replacement. The initial home consultation was with the owner Jay, who performed a visual inspection of the roof and then walked me through the process of replacing the roof step by step, complete with pictures on his laptop of previous jobs. The initial quote was well within the range I was expecting and didn't include any fees or services that we didn't walk through beforehand. A contractor friend of ours who uses a different roofer on his home improvement jobs agreed that the price quoted was a fair quote for a similar size roof. We agreed upon a target date for completion and the work was completed a week early due to favorable weather conditions. On the day of the job, the crew arrived at 7:30am and finished by 3pm. Jay was there with his crew supervising the whole day and updated me on the progress throughout the day. Part of the process including taking pictures during the job to document the work they had done along with the precautions to protect the surrounding landscaping, deck, etc. At the end of the job we did a walkthrough to inspect the roof as well as the surrounding area on the ground to make sure it was clean. I think what I appreciated the most was the straightforward approach Jay has to doing business. He always returned my phone calls, even after signing the contract. We communicated several times during the weekend prior to the job so I knew exactly when they were coming out. Which was good for making arrangements for my dog to be out of the house for the day. It was a very positive experience, especially compared to some of the stories I have heard from friends and neighbors when they tried to get quotes or work completed on their roofs from other companies.

We had a tree fall on our roof causing the need for a full roof replacement. When calling around to schedule estimates, Jay spent extra time walking me through potential issues with the insurance company and what I might expect. Jay came out for the estimate and walked me through the full roof replacement process, showing pictures of previous jobs he had done. He explained how his company would protect the house and landscaping and was very straightforward and honest. He also reviewed the insurance estimate for me and actually found a few errors that the adjuster made. Because of the weather, Jay was able to get the roof done earlier than expected. He maintained constant communication with us the day of the replacement, informing us of any issues and additional damage that was discovered. His pricing on the additional repairs (rotting fascia board and plywood) was very reasonable. Jay documented the whole process with pictures in the event any issues come up, and I expect this might come in handy when dealing with insurance companies. Jay's estimate wasn't the lowest price, but it wasn't much higher than the lowest estimate. At the end of the day, I chose Jay because I trusted he would do a good job and respected the way he did business. Jay did not disappoint - my wife and I were amazed when we drove up and first saw the roof. It looks amazing and significantly increases the curb appeal of our home. We're also confident that the roof was done right and we won't have any issues in the future (as long as no more trees fall on it!). I absolutely recommend The Home Wise Pros if you're considering a roof replacement.

It couldn't have been better. Jay came when he said he would to the first meeting (many others did not). He explained the options and gave his recommendations. His bid was very reasonable and compared well with the other bids. He gave an estimated date (rain can interfere with timing) and he had it finished on time, on budget and it looked great. He also shared photos of the damaged roof decking and the repair, as well as of the various steps in the process. The only bad part was that since the roof is a lifetime roof, I won't be able to hire him again unless we move. If we did move to a new house that needed a roof, I would hire him again in a heart beat. This was my first experience using Angie's List and it was great!!!

I contacted Jay after reading many Angie's List reviews of roofers. He returned my call within 24 hours. I immediately liked him on the phone because he explained the process, gave me honest/straightforward advice, and was pleasant and engaging. I never felt pressured or "BS'd." We made an appointment to meet, and before the appointment, he had a drone fly over my house and take aerial photos of the roof. I was shocked by the streaking, moss, lichens, etc. on the roof. He came to my house and gave me a clear, thorough explanation of the process and how/why roofs fail/leak. He also explained that his company does not use "subs" whereas most other companies do. His company only does roofs, not siding/shutters/gutters, etc., so that is his specialty. I contacted two other companies. One company couldn't come to give me an estimate for several weeks, and the other one was rude and dismissive on the phone. The 2nd company gave me an estimate that was a few $1000 more. I don't automatically choose the least expensive, but the combination of excellent Angie's List reviews, his knowledge and attention to detail, and his approachability/honesty made me choose him. He gave me color choices and suggested a few colors that he thought would go with my house. He gave me some addresses where I could see those two colors on an actual roof. We made a tentative appointment for the end of August. He called me this week (2 weeks early) to tell me he had an opening, so the work was done this week while I was out of town. When I returned the same day, you could barely tell that a major house repair had been done. My landscaping was almost 100% untouched (you could tell where the mulch was slightly bare because they cleaned up so thoroughly). There was no debris, nails, etc. He stopped by and he showed me many photos of each step of the process. He had to replace 12 pieces of plywood, but each piece was numbered in the photos, and it was obvious that they were damaged (rotting, holes, etc.). The photos showed everything that they did from the beginning to the end, and he how/why each item was installed. I highly recommend Home Wise Pros for your roofing project. You will not be taken for a ride or disappointed in any way. My advise to everyone is that you have no idea of what's going on under your roof, so if it's over or nearing the end of its lifecycle, or if you see obvious disrepair or moss, etc. - take care of it now before it rots under there and causes you more problems in the long run.

We couldn't be happier with the service and job that was done. We called this company based on the Angie's List reviews. Jay was responsive and answered all questions. We had a few estimates first, but we were confident that we would go with Jay's company based on the time he took to explain everything. We had no reservations that the job would be well done. We were given an estimate that was more than fair. He also explained that the cost may be more if wood had to be replaced but that he wouldn't know that until they started the work. We were given an estimated week when services would be completed. Due to rain, the work was done on the Friday of the week we were told. Since we have a new puppy, it wasn't possible for us to stay in all day (and not safe for us to be coming in and out while the work was being done) so we left for the day. Jay's team was punctual and he kept us posted throughout the day with pictures and phone calls. This was reassuring because it's an old house and we weren't sure what they might find when they took the old tiles off. Fortunately, only two pieces of wood needed to be replaced taking the total cost to $120 above the estimate (were told it usually averages $300 above). When we returned home, the guys were cleaning up. The roof looks great and the house looks 10 years younger! Everything was cleaned up well. We would absolutely recommend this company.
