The Home Wise Pros Roofing

The paint on my small front porch and part of the trim on the back of my two-story house was beginning to flake. Home Wise Pros had done some work for me and I mentioned it to Jay while he was here. He gave me an estimate over the phone and we agreed to the price. Some days later he called to see how early they could start on the next day. Edwin showed up about 7:30 am and spent the rest of the day, until about 6pm, scraping and painting the porch, trim, and the front door. He also cleaned up all the scraping and the bit of paint that was on the screen door. He worked hard all day, and did a good job.

We decided to use The Home Wise Pro's for painting our home since they did such a great job on previous roof work. We are putting our home up for sale so we needed the job done right the first time. As usual, the owner Jay spent an enormous amount of his time going over every single detail before work even began. Interior work was to be done first due to the weather. The interior rooms to be painted were very large with vaulted and/or tray ceilings upstairs. Downstairs rooms were large as well with 12 foot ceilings. The most time consuming and difficult inside job was our outdoor covered deck ceiling. The ceiling paint and drywall was exposed to the outside air and moisture for 12+ years and was in bad shape. It was warped, cracked and crooked. I initially thought we would have to tear the whole ceiling down, but Jay assured me his team could get it done without ripping out the ceiling. His crew showed up promptly every day at 8AM always courteous and cheerful. Paper was laid down in all the hallways to protect my wood floors. I did not have to move any of my furniture or take down any pictures on my walls as they did all of that for us. Our interior color selection was straight forward for someone selling a home - ceilings white and walls off-white in all rooms except for the master bedroom. We asked Jay to pick up a "Taupe" color for the bedroom. We looked at swatches with him. When he brought the paint for the bedroom (keep in mind this bedroom is massive, around 36x24) it appeared to be a little on the pink side. We decided to get our own paint and Jay did not charge us for the expensive "pink" paint we would no longer be using. Jay made it a point to come out to our home 2 times each day so he could personally inspect the work being done as well as walk though each evening so adjustments could be made for the following day. Jay also answered his cell phone every time I called when the job was being done to answer any questions or address concerns. Jay was able to add items on the fly for me, such as last minute decisions to paint the ceilings of 3 bathrooms I had not intended to paint. The most difficult inside work was our outdoor covered deck. I will say the ceiling looks incredible. No warps and no cracks. It looks like a brand new ceiling. I am very impressed they managed to fix this ceiling without tearing out the drywall. The painters are so good, they don't need to mask areas off with tape. They painted my kitchen ceiling which had wallpaper on the walls. No taping was done to prevent paint from hitting the wallpaper/ceiling match point. I was very impressed with the level of skill his team possessed. After each room was completed, the crew was meticulous in cleaning up. Every square inch of floor/carpet was cleaned leaving no trace behind. The following week the weather was good and exterior work began. I must note that my home has a very high roof, and wood trim that needed to be painted ran parallel to the many arches and eaves. On the back side of the home, the painters had to reach as high as 40-50 feet off the ground. There are also 50+ windows on the home and each one with wood molding and trim. Jay's team did an excellent job both inside and out. All work was completed in the time-frame that was originally quoted. His team even removed an old wasps nest (empty of course) and replaced some light-bulbs for me which I could never reach with the ladders I own. We finally found a contractor that we can rely on who never cuts corners, who always shows up when he says he will, is incredibly honest (no attempts to up-sell or claim we need x and y fixed when there is nothing wrong) and always competitively priced. Unfortunately we will be moving out of the area and we are disappointed because we wont be able to utilize his services anymore. After being ripped off multiple times and shoddy work by other contractors, disappointed is probably not a strong enough word.

I bought a Big Deal for an attic inspection. Jay Gleason inspected the attic and then scheduled a time to meet with my husband and me on a Saturday morning. He showed us photos he had taken on his iPad. We had only R-6 insulation with some completely bare spots! The vertical ruler he put up there was very helpful. Jay was very personable and honest - he did not recommend more than we needed. Although he said R-38 would meet code and be sufficient (not to mention MUCH better than what we had), we chose R-49. it was only a couple of hundred dollars more, and in case the code changes in the future to require a higher level, we'll have it. Because we also signed a contract with Jay for a new roof, he scheduled the insulation job for a few days after the roofing job so roof debris wouldn't fall onto the new insulation.Jay called the night before the job to confirm. He and his workers were there on time and got started right away setting up and blowing the insulation into the attic. The blower tube went through an upstairs window and up to the attic. The job was supposed to take 3 hours. When I returned, there was still insulation going in - Jay said he had to go and get 5 more bags at no additional charge to me!Afterwards Jay showed me photos of the job. Clean up was quick and thorough. Everything went very smoothly - Jay and his company are a pleasure to work with!

They were very professional, found where the missing shingle came from, replaced it and took pictures.

When Jay Gleason came to do the attic inspection (Big Deal purchase), I asked him for an estimate for a roof replacement. I read his Angies List reports and commented that his customers really loved him - now I know why, and I'm one of them! Jay met with my husband and me with photos taken on his iPad and showed us many details depicting our roof and other structures up there that needed to be replaced and/or repaired, and soon. He was extremely personable and honest with us. He talked through all the options with us, spent time explaining each one in terms we could understand, and he never tried to upsell us. When I asked about solar shingles, he explained the circumstances under which that option would be cost effective, and it wouldn't be for us. Compared to other estimates we had obtained, Jay was in the ballpark with the most reasonable ones. He was certainly not the most expensive, nor was he the least expensive, but his price included upgrades (e.g., 30-weight felt) not included in the other estimates. Also, his price for plywood to replace rotted sections was $40 a sheet, compared with $45 in some other estimates. ( He only used 2 sheets and replaced several non-contiguous sections, where some other roofers would have charged for one sheet per section, costing much more.) Jay called the night before the job to confirm. He and his workers showed up a little early and he introduced me to his main guy before I left for work. Jay uses permanent employees rather than workers contracted by the job. They covered the plants in front of the house with cloths. I think there were 6 or 8 guys up there. They got started right away and were finished before 2 p.m. I drove up after work to a house with a beautiful new roof and no trace of debris, nails, etc. Jay showed me photos of each stage of the work in progress. From my perspective, the job went perfectly from the first call to handing over the check. Jay was wonderful to work with. I would recommend him enthusiastically and without reservation. I can't wait until I can afford a new kitchen so I can call Jay again!

Overall this was an extremely pleasant experience. Jay is wonderful to work with. As a matter of fact, when I purchased the roof inspection deal, he called that day to discuss what we needed. Because we had roof leaks, he moved us high on his list of projects! They laid tarps around the house to minimize damage to plants, etc. and ran magnets around the house to be sure all stray nails and other materials were removed. In addition, when he noticed a missing piece of siding, cracks in our chimney cap, and some loose siding, he offered to repair those at no extra cost. He even went to 2 different stores to try to match our siding color! The entire project from speaking to Jay on the phone to the final roof installation took just a few weeks. We finished up the transaction yesterday by paying the balance due, but not before we saw multiple photos of the roof installation in detail; photos of each piece of wood that needed replacement were included. Once we met Jay and based on all of the wonderful reports on Angie's List, I didn't even bother to contact other contractors. I could not imagine a better experience. I just hope we're able to use HomeWise Pros again for other repairs or updates to our home!

Jay was extremely professional. He initially came in response to the Angie list big deal and did a visual inspection of the attic. He and his two very capable helpers returned at the appointed time and date and completed the insulation job. He is extremely knowledgable. He had photos taken to ensure I could see how the work was done. If you are looking for a competent, professional, courteous individual, I would highly recommend this company.

Jay Gleason from the company called the morning of the next day to schedule the work. After a short discussion of the job, he determined that his company was not certified to work on the unique roof type on my house. He provided referrals, including phone numbers, for three companies that he knew were qualified for this work. Very honest, professional, and pleasant interaction. Nice man, and probably a quality company.

Mr Gleason went out of his way to be accomodating. We decided, the day before the job, to leave the next day for a three day weekend. When I asked Mr. Gleason how long the installation would take, he asked if he could get started an hour early. They finished by noon. They did not have to do that.

We purchased the Home Wise Pros Big Deal on Angie's List for the winter roof inspection, and Jay called us the next day to schedule an appointment (even faster than we had planned to contact them). The inspection and minor repairs were done, and Jay provided extensive photos of our roof and the issues. The most urgent need was that a tree branch had punctured the roof, and Jay scheduled time to come right back out to address that repair, and review in detail the minor repairs and possible future issues. The hole in the roof was repaired that day, again with extensive documentation/photos. Jay and his team were informative, knowledgable, professional, and pleasant. We will definitely hire them for other home repairs and maintenance.

Smooth as silk from scheduling the inspection to arranging the date of the insulation addition. Team showed up on time, were prepared with appropriate shoe coverings and had all their equipment ready to go within 30 mins. they finished thenjob on time and cleaned up any debris. Jay inspected the work after it was completed and we saw the before and after camera images (plus I stuck my head in the attic to see the finished product. Estimated matched the final cost. Would use again.

My house is 40 years olf and badly needed a new outside basement door. Jay and his crew irmoved the old wooden door as well as the frame and efficiently installed a nice new steel door. He also made sure I hung the key nearby where I could quickly and easily find it. I wanted to replace my old inside doors as well, but, because they were of varying sizes and it would be very expensive to modify new doors to fit, he advised me just to have my son-in-law paint them, saving me a lot of money. The door knobs were deteriorating and I wanted ones that would open easily. Jay brought two samples of the type I wanted and let me choose between them. He and Edwin came early on a Sunday morning and installed them, carefully using a chisel to make them fit smoothly and neatly. They cleaned up all the bits of wood that fell to the floor. Jay and his men have done several jobs for me and I feel he is conscientious and honest. Even my cat loves to see him come!

This was by far the BEST experience I have ever had with a contractor. Jay Gleason came out and walked my entire roof, took numerous photographs, sealed leaking vent pipe collars and then gave me an incredibly thorough analysis of the roof condition and backed it up with the photos. He even noticed gaps around some of the vents on the side of the house that were so far up I could not really see the problem and was totally unaware of it until he showed me the photos. I could easily see I needed a new roof before winter and we discussed various options - Jay was able to get me an excellent price on Solaris solar reflective shingles that qualify for the federal tax rebate I was also impressed that he offered top quality 30 lb roofing paper and comprehensive water and ice barriers that were "extras" in the quotes I got from some some other companies. I then asked Jay about some other problems - the rusted chimney cap, the hole a woodpecker made in my siding, some rotted wood trim. Jay rolled all these problems into a single contract including the new roof and new gutters/downspouts and also agreed to have new gutter covers installed using the same Gutter Topper system I had been very happy with for the last 12 years - and he had to get a company from out of state to come and do this for me!! About 2 weeks before the new roof was to be installed, we had a wind storm and a tree branch went right through the old roof. Jay came out and removed the branch and patched the hole so I would not have any damage from rain until the new roof could be installed. What GREAT service....no charge either since I already had a contract with him!!! His work crews were on time and extremely professional. The clean-up was superb.. and most impressive of all, Jay was constantly in touch by phone and personally came by each day to make sure I didn't have any questions or problems. I could not be more pleased with the service I received. I will definitely be using the Home Wise Pros for some remodeling projects in the coming years.

Jay and his staff showed up a bit early, which was great. They got right to work setting up. Jay explained what they would be doing, and they started work quickly. Once they were done, Jay took pictures of the finished work, and even emailed them to me. They did a great job cleaning up, and were done!

We discovered a leak in the roof of a townhouse that we rent out so we purchased a coupon to have the Home Wise Pros come out and examine the roof. In my request for service I also discussed the roof of our home and some work we may need to have done on it. Jay Gleason, the owner, contacted us by phone and set up a time to go to the townhouse and do an examination. After examining the rental property's roof he then came to our house and examined that roof. We then set up an appointment to discuss his findings. He brought along an iPad on which he showed us pictures of the problem with the townhouse (deteriorating pipe collars) and he showed that he had his men to temporarily fix the problem with a sealant in case we wanted to wait for a short period of time to make the repair. He also quoted a price of $450 to replace collars on three pipes. We asked him to go ahead and make the repairs. In doing so they also cleaned out the gutters. Mr Gleason's examination of our home's roof revealed a great deal of wear and tear. As it turned out, the house was built in 1985 and had what appeared to be the original roof. We contracted with Home Wise to replace the roof for about $12,200. He promised to have the roof replaced in one day and recommended that we vacate the house on that day because the noise would be extremely distracting and our coming and going during the day would force them to stop working until we were clear of the outside of the house for safety's sake. The work was completed in one day and clean up around the house was complete. Everything promised in the contract and our discussions was accomplished in a professional and efficient manner. We would readily recommend Home Wise for anyone needing work done on their home.

If they gave a gold medal for customer service, Homewise Pros would be the clear winner. I set a high benchmark for service providers. Jay is knowledgable, prompt, and great with dogs. He provided plenty of before and after photos of the work for my records. I will definitely be calling Jay for our next big home improvement project. I found Homewise Pros on Angie's list. I like that Jay uses technology to make himself accessible to clients. He answers questions quickly by email or phone.

It went very well. Jay Gleason was responsive and prepared for the inevitable surprises that pop up on any project this extensive. It rained frequently in late November and early December, but Jay was able to juggle his schedules and get the work done at the earliest possible date. He promised that the debris from the old roof would be completely removed, and when we found some nails and pieces of flashing in the yard he came over that night with a flashlight and a metal detector. I will definitely have more projects for the Home Wise Pros down the road.

Mr. Gleason called the 2 days prior to the installation to confirm the appointment. He showed up on time and worked quietly and efficiently and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards.

I did not have a good impression when he came, there were no roofing materials and he gave me nothing in writing so I will not be using his services.

Jay came on time when scheduled and was extremely knowledgeable about the repairs required to fix the leak as well as the overall condition of our roof. We feel very confident in his workmanship and will call The Home Wise Pros when it comes time to replace the roof.

I took advantage of the Big Deal for an attic inspection. Jay came out to inspect the attic and I discovered that there was very little insulation in some areas. He made a recommendation and provided an estimate. A months later I called to schedule the work. Jay called the night before to confirm the time they would arrive. He advised that they may be able to arrive earlier if that was alright with me and would call again in the morning. He called to ask if the earlier time would work which was perfect for me. They arrived as scheduled and Jay went over the work to be completed and the cost. His crew began setting up and were done in a few hours. They were very polite and cleaned up after the job was completed. Jay and I did an inspection of the work in the basement space and attic in addition to showing before and after pictures. I was very pleased with their work and will include them in future project bids.

We learned of this company through Angie's List and what a find it was for us. Jay and Home Wise Pro's lived up to the many fine recommendations already posted here. The job was completed to our satisfaction in only one day. Moreover the final cost came in under the estimate that was given us due to leftover materials. When is the last time that has ever happened to you?? We were so satisfied that we immediately hired this company for another major job. Jay was not only professional but also personable and patient in dealing with us who are senior citizens. For example he took down and stored our 12 foot Christmas tree when he observed us struggling with it. With Home Wise Pro's the client comes first. An enormous amount of time is spent explaining every detail of the job and answering questions. The cleanup was excellent one would never know the roofers had been there. Everything that had to be removed in order to do the job was put back exactly as it was found. They are not enough adjectives to describe how pleased we are. Angie's List has found a great company.

We were very impressed with Jay's knowledge, experience, honesty, and professionalism. He showed up promptly, took pictures of the roof in order to educate us, and showed us pictures of the finished work. He was able to make several minor maintenance repairs and told us our roof looked good for now and didn't need anything else--we loved his honesty! We have already purchased the attic inspection big deal from him. If any other work needs to be done, he will be on a very short list of people we call. He was the kind of person who you look forward to working with...a very good experience.

My attic had at most a vastly underinsulated R-19. In some places there was even less or no insulation at all. The Home Wise Pros used blown-in insulation to bring my attic up to R-49. I-Pad photos showed all parts of the attic, so that all questions were answered. An additional feature was installing rulers throughout the attic that measured the level of insulation for the benefit of anyone inspecting the attic.

I can only say that if all contractors were like Jay Gleason, there would be no need for Angie's List. Jay is without question the most professional, courteous, and competent contractor I have dealt with to date. He was polite and congenial even though after our initial visit he had to make numerous attempts to get back in touch with me to confirm the color of the tile as my own work schedule became utterly crazed. His process of photographing each stage of the roofing process. complete with numbering various pieces of plywood that had to be replaced, provides details of the how and why that a homeowner is not likely to find or encounter elsewhere. His thoroughness is evident throughout the roofing process as well, from making sure to inquire about bushes or shrubs that might be particularly fragile so he can devise a way to protect them from stray pieces of roofing, to raking through the grass with a magnetic comb to pick up any nails that might have fallen to protect against possible injuries to my dog. It is also obvious that Jay's crew has adopted his lead in arriving punctually, working diligently and meticulously, and leaving nothing behind except a beautiful new roof. Jay Gleason redefines quality in construction. I will most certainly contact him again for other projects and would be more than happy to speak to any potential customer on his behalf.
