From the very beginning our interactions with Jay and the Home Wise Pros have been nothing short of extraordinary. Jay visited our home at least 4 times prior the job to take pictures and sit with us to discuss the entire process of replacing our roof. The information that Jay presented was professional and thorough, describing not only the condition of our home but all the possible options for fixing the job. Jay made us feel at ease from the beginning and we felt to work with any other company would be our folly. The day before the work, a crew stopped over to deliver the materials. They were quick and efficient. on the day of the work, as promised, Jay was on the jobsite early with ample crew (he assured us that the job would be completed that day!). Prior to starting, they layed tarps to ensure a clean working environment. During the whole day, pictures were taken to ensure quality as well as point out any faulty areas that were fixed throughout the day. The workers that I had the ability to be in contact with were cordial and focused on the job at hand. When the job was completed, Jay took the time to go over the pictures with us to make sure there were no discrepencies as well as point out the work that was done. Throughout the whole experience Jay and his crew have been nothing buy a pleasure to work with. From our opening meeting until we made our payment, we always felt at ease and comfortable taking Jay's opinion to doing the job in the best possible way. To any potential customer of Home Wise Pros, i can't provide enough praise for the level of work that was done on our home. We will be directing all of our future work toward Jay and his crew based on the great experience we had .

They were super busy. Jay, the owner, left several messages. It seemed to me that they were overwhelmed with the coupons. They did come out to take some pictures. It was hard for us to meet and discuss anything with him so we went with a different company and requested a refund of the Big Deal.

Jay stopped by our place in East Baltimore later the afternoon we called and after exhaustive inspection suggested we would gain little from insulation the bedroom like we were considering. I spoke with three other companies and they all offered to do the work but Jay dug deeper and after an exhaustive inspection of the room with thermal camera felt we would see very little actual improvement from insulating the room and instead suggested new windows or window unit and floor heater as a much more efficient, economical alternative. I would and am recommending him to my friends for his timeliness and honesty.

In a word, they did an OUTSTANDING job. Came in with the best bid Did everything they said they were going to do and did not take any shortcuts. Jay was there the whole time and was an EXCELLENT project manager. He kept us informed during the whole process andwas very pleasant to work with. He takes tremendous pride in his company's work and has built in a high level of accountability with his crew, by being present during the entire job. This you rarely see in other companies. Cleaned up very well. The job took 2 days and they didnt leave a mess in our yard after they finished working the first day. All companies make claims about their quality, only Jay shows you what he actually did. All work was documented. Pictures of the bad wood that needed to be replaced and all phases of construction were shown to us on his IPAD. The roof looks great! They were on time each day and HONEST.

Smooth, hassle free project from start to finish. Jay kept in touch from estimate to completion of job with updates on what was happening next and photos during all phases of roof replacement. Work started early on the day of scheduled job and when the project ran longer than expected, the crew returned early the next morning to finish. There was a tricky porch repair, reattaching a porch roof that had come away from the brick house. The crew did an excellent job of repairing and restoring the structure. New roof looks great and no more leaks.

Jay was a pleasure to work with. He responded quickly to all calls/emails. He came to the house multiple times to look at the roof, go over the estimate, bring color sample, etc... and explain everything in detail and to follow up to be sure we were fully satisfied. He recommended cost savings as well as upgrades that would be worth the money and which were not worth the money. He figured out 2 leaks we were having and only replaced things that needed to be replaced. He took extreme care to show us pictures of other jobs as well as our job. They completed the job in one day, even with a delayed start due to rain. They left the house and property clean as if they had not even been here. They moved anything that could potentially be damaged and covered everything surrounding the house to ensure that not too much debris fell in the grass, which would have been easier to miss in clean up. They used a magnetic "rake" to find all the nails that could have fallen.

Hats off to the Home Wise Pros. Everything went perfectly. Jay was curtious, professional, and knowledgable during his house calls, answerng all of our questions. From our initial phone call to Home Wise Pros to the completion of the roof took less than 3 weeks. We were kept well informed as to what was to be done, how it would be done, and when things would be done. The Home Wise Prose crew was professional, quick, and well organized. When they were finished the roof they cleaned up every scrap of their mess. I will highly recommend Home Wise Pros to anyone looking for a new roof.

My objective was to fix a slow leak in roof and minimize or eliminate need for any other roof repairs during a 15 year solar lease period I am about to initiate. Had multiple contractors look at situation; none provided plausible explanations of leak problem, or reasonable recommendations to solve it. Jay, the company owner, however, spent considerable time on multiple occasions prior to contract trying to diagnose leak and recommend course of action to ensure roof as ready to support installation of solar panels. He went to considerable lengths to pin down the problems and provide alternative solutions and associated costs, ranging from just addressing the most egregious problems to replacing entire roof. I chose the latter to put concerns about increased costs of repairs after solar panels are installed behind me. Price for replacement seemed a bit high, but I'm hoping it will turn out to be well worth it. Cooperation of Jay and his company was excellent and so was the work from what I can see. Crew were considerate, provided detailed information and photos of condition of existing roof, things needing correction and measures taken to complete the job. I asked for a specific guarantee to serve my objective (see above), and Jay provided most of it. All in all, The Home Wise Pros provide exceptional service, professionalism and courtesy, and seem to be very conscientious to cover all bases, respect homeowner's property and meet their responsibilities. The proof will be in the pudding, but I expect that Jay will back his word with action if i have roof problems attributable to his roofing or installation during my solar lease period. Very good experience overall, recommend Jay and his company highly.

This has to be the best experience I have ever had on a home improvement!! Jay did a fantastic job going over the job, documenting the process, and even taking photos as the work was performed. We contacted Home Wise Pros after seeing all the positive reviews on Angies List, Jay came out a few days later and did a thorough inspection of the roof, after which he showed us pictures illustrating all the problems with the roof (which we had already made up our minds to replace). We provided some guidance on how long we were going to stay in the house and he made suggestions as to the type of shingles to consider. A few days later Jay was back with an estimate (well below several other estimates we had already obtained). He helped us choose a color and style of architectural shingle and we scheduled the job. We had the work done a week later and it only took a single day on site. Probably the most important think, is that Jay supervises and documents with pictures all the work, showing any issues which turn up as they work on the roof. To make a long story short, the roof looks fantastic, their cleanup was so thorough that the yard was cleaner than before they arrived. I recommend Home Wise Pros to all my friends and we will certainly be using them for other home improvements in the future!

Jay Gleason's Home Wise Pros crew does it all, does it quickly, and they do it right. That's the short version of this review. You'll get a good, honest deal and an experienced crew who will do it right the first time. Now, the longer version. There are many good and reputable roofing companies in the Baltimore//Washington area. Astute Angie's List customers easily discover that when performing the requisite "get-three-estimates" process before selecting a contractor. However, and with great respect to those other fine roofing companies in our area, you might feel like you're wasting your time getting those other two quotes after discovering how Jay Gleason's Home Wise Pros crew performs such astonishingly fine, fast work. Jay's a really busy guy, but he always finds time to talk to you, and is always on time. I'd never seen advertising for Home Wise Pros, but saw the company was exceptionally rated on Angie's List. He called me back within a day after an email request for an attic inspection and again for a roof inspection. He performed both tasks within a week (early January), and provided very detailed description via photographs. He gave a frank, objective, accurate, yet low-key/low-pressure assessment of what both the attic needed in terms of insulation and the roof. There was no salesmanship or patronizing attitude. Nor was there a dose of fearful, apocalyptic predictions of doom if I didn't act now. He presented me with multiple options for the attic and roof to include what I DIDN'T need for each. He appreciated that I couldn't afford to have the work done immediately and asked me to contact him when I could. I did so in mid-April, and we met again to confirm the details of the roofing project. A crew prepositioned the materials on my roof a few days before the job (project was delayed by weather). The work crew arrived about 10 minutes early (6:50 a.m.), which was perfect timing as I was heading to work. Jay kept me up to speed throughout the morning on the progress. He left a voicemail at 12:30 p.m. I called him back, fearing he'd discovered some long-buried, vital and expensive wrinkle in my roof. Nope...called to tell me the work was done. An entire roof. In half a day. Pulling into my driveway, I could immediately see the difference. It was only the roof, but somehow the whole house looked much younger. No sign of debris or forgotten cleanup. Two of my neighbors commented on the quality and speed of the project and asked me how I'd found these guys. Bottom line to this review -- Jay Gleason's Home Wise Pros are as good as advertisted here. They fully deserve their A rating, and then some. The roof was just the start of the long list of renovations I want done on my home. Yeah, I'll probably do the right thing and get estimates from three companies to install a new bathroom and do some exterior work. But I believe I'm going to hire Jay.

Jay Gleason went over the results of a roof inspection that he was initially hired to do. I liked Jay's approach and demeanor from the start. He was clearly very knowledgeable, very particular about his work, took the time to explain things, and used his i-pad very effectively to document the issues with my roof. He was very professional, punctual, and did not try to sell us something that we didn't need. It became clear that a new roof was needed. I advised him that I would get 3 proposals before having the work done. I contacted 2 other roofing contractors after looking through Angie's List and talking to neighbors. One contractor came in with a very high bid, and Home Wise Pros and a third contractor's proposal were very close. I felt more comfortable dealing with Jay, so I signed a contract with him. Everything went according to plan. The shingles were delivered the day before installation, the installation took place in one day, and everything was cleaned up that afternoon (which is saying something, given the messy nature of this job) . Jay was on-site the entire day, which I appreciated as he oversaw the job to ensure everything went smoothly. I was glad we had the roof replaced when we did as rotten wood was found in the roof deck around the chimney. If we had waited longer we surely would have developed some leaks. Jay came over to meet with my wife and I to show us pictures of the new roof being installed, and to discuss everything before accepting payment. Talk about thorough!! My wife and I are extremely pleased with the outcome of this project. The new roof looks great. Jay Gleason and his staff at The Home Wise Pros did an excellent job from start to finish. We recommend him unconditionally as contractors that perform at this level are hard to find.

Jay is the go-to guy for roof replacement! We took advantage of a Big Deal for a winter roof inspection and Jay Gleason did a thorough inspection, including checking the attic. He pointed out several issues with our 25+ year-old roof so it was no surprise when he recommended that it be replaced. Jay gave us a detailed presentation of the work that needed to be done and described some of our options. We could tell that Jay is knowledgeable and really knows roofs, and we appreciated his advice on selecting the right shingles. We got on his schedule and he explained just what to expect on the big day, even reminding us to move our cars out of the garage ahead of time since the driveway would be blocked. The Home Wise Pros crew showed up right on time, bright and early on a mild winter day. The crew got right to work, each one knowing just what to do. All work was done in a professional manner with photos taken throughout the day to document all stages of the work. The pictures show that the work was completed as promised, including replacement of rotten sections of plywood. So we know that the roof itself was properly prepared before being covered by shingles. In addition, the skilled crew avoided damaging the brand new gutters installed on the house just last fall. We were a bit surprised that they managed to complete the job on a day with only 9.5 hours of daylight. It was nearly dark by the time they finished and they did an excellent job cleaning up around the outside of the house. It's obvious that Jay Gleason takes pride in his work and insists on doing things the right way, using quality materials, never cutting corners, and doing more than meeting minimum requirements. Jay has done other work for us and never uses high-pressure sales tactics. In fact, he has come up with lower-cost options or even talked us out of doing some work, explaining why it really wasn't necessary. We are very pleased with our new roof and recommend Jay Gleason and The Home Wise Pros without reservation.

Jay had previously done an attic inspection which I purchased through an Angies List special deal. I was impressed by his thorough work - he took lots of pictures and gave me a complete review. We knew there was a problem because of an earlier water leak and he was able to show us a large area of rot exactly where the leak had occured. I asked for a roof inspection and after a very reasonable quote, with all options explained, I contracted him to replace the roof. He told me what to expect on the day before and the day of the job and we scheduled based on weather reports. On the day of the job, the workers arrived promptly as promised. Work started on time, they made all the noise they promised (!), and the job was finished in almost exactly the time he estimated. They did a great job cleaning up the outside, too. After it was all over, Jay again reviewed the entire job, with pictures, showing everything they had done in great detail. I would recommend this company to anyone needing any kind of roof work.

There was little life in our roof so we took advantage of one of the Angie's list specials. Home Wise Pros scheduled an appointment to look at the roof. We had a follow up appointment to go over the report. Jay Gleason showed up at our home and on-time. Jay presented a complete analysis and he came with hundreds of pictures of our roof. I mean this guy took pictures of just about every roofing nail that was pulling out of the wood. Jay had a picture of every part of the roof from every angle. Who does that? Our home has a contemporary design with several different roof lines. In total we have the equivalent roof size equal to about standard houses. Due to the size of the job Jay took the time to meet with us at least three other times before we decided to sign a contract. Jay made strong recommendations and provided documentation to back up his recommendations. He also had pictures from countless number of roofing jobs and he used them as examples to teach us the do's and don't of roofing. He also used many of the pictures to show how our roofing job would be done. For example, how the ice and water shield is installed. During one of the visits Jay laid out his plan. In addition to all the pictures he already took of our house he came with detailed drawings of all roof lines and samples of all the material he was going to use. He had everything priced out to dollar. He ordered our custom skylights and dealt with the distributor himself and made a return visit to verify some of the measurements. Once the job started the crew was on-time everyday. We were home to observe most of the work. Every member of the crew was a real pro. The crew was very efficient and they accomplished everything they set out to right within fifteen-to-thirty minutes of the schedule. Our job took 2 1/2 days and Jay was on site to take pictures of the job from beginning to end. In addition, the clean-up was amazing. One week after the job I found two old roofing nails and no debris. When it was all over Jay came back another evening and spent over an hour briefing us on the job using all the pictures he took while the work was being done. I have owned several houses and some rental properties and I have replaced the roof on all of them using a few different roofing companies. I have never seen anyone prepare for a job like Jay. I have never seen this level of preparation for job, ever. Jay does this as part of his service to the customer before any contract is offered by the homeowner. Home Wise Pros is the last roofing company I'll ever need.

I purchased the Big Deal Tuesday morning 4/10. Within 20 minutes Mr. Gleason phoned me to find out the nature of my problem. He advised me he would try to schedule my inspection as soon as possible, but was going to try to schedule inspections within the same geographic location at the same time. That evening he phoned to say that he would be able to inspect my roof the following day, 4/11. His work crew performed the inspection, then he gave me the estimate of repairs verbally over the phone since I was not able to be home during the inspection. The workers took pictures of the problem areas before and after the work was completed. The roof is 14 years old and we were concerned about some possible torn shingles, but now feel that if we had not gotten this inspection, we would have had a possible leak or two. The total price paid includes $99 for the price of the inspection and $300 in repairs (really worth $450). We will definitely use this company to replace our roof, when the time comes. I would recommend anyone try the Big Deal.

Jay came out initially for an estimate for attic insulation for my house and my parent's house. He was very professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. We felt he was very honest and trustworthy. We did not feel pressured or rushed to make any decisions. When Jay and his workers came to install the insulation, he explained step by step the procedure. His workers were pleasant and courteous. The workers were careful to lay down tarps and wore boot covers. They vacuumed and cleaned up after themselves extremely well. The job was completed as promised and in the time.

I knew I needed a new roof. I originally found Home Wise Pros through an Angie's List Big Deal for roof inspection and repair. They were prompt and very responsive. The owner, Jay, was very accomodating in making appointments that fit my schedule. They sealed the roof around vents, inspected and took photos to show me the condition of the roof, which was pretty bad. Jay made an appointment in the evening to come sit with me, show me the photos and discuss what needed to be done to my roof. He explained his recommendations to ensure the best long-term result andsuggested lower cost solutions where they were appropriate. He impressed me with his professionalism and knowledge. He was pleasant to talk to and not at all "high pressure". My neighbor had replaced his own roof and wanted to do mine, so I had him sit in on my meeting with Jay. After hearing what Jay had to say, even he recommended I hire Home Wise Pros. Jay worked up an estimate that I thought was very reasonable and the job was scheduled within a week. The crew showed up on schedule and finished the job before I got home from work. They spread tarps around the house to protect shrubbery, etc from any falling debris and cleaned up when they were done, so the area around my house was cleaner than before they arrived. Jay said they also went over the yard with a magnet to get any nails that might have fallen. Jay took photos throughout the job to show me before and after so I could see where there was rotted wood that they replaced, a vent pipe that they had to move away from the ridge vent, old shortened ridge vents and new longer ones, etc. The photos also verified for me that they used the products that were listed on the estimate instead of a substitute and that they laid "ice and water" shielding under the shingles where we agreed it was needed, as well as other details to ensure quality work. Overall, I was very impressed with Jay and his crew. I think several neighbors also intend to hire Home Wise Pros based on seeing the work they did for me. In future, I'll call them first when I need anything that they can do.

The condition of the roof was bad and shingles were falling off in some spots. We expected that there would be additional issues once the old roof was removed. Prior to getting estimates we used an Angie's List Deal to have Jay Gleason of Homewise Pros do an inspection. He called almost immediately and came out to inspect the roof and take pictures; then scheduled a time to go over his photos and explain the options to us. He described and showed photos of the materials that would be used and where pipe collars and flashing would be installed. When we were ready to have the work done, we contracted with Jay and his crew for the work. His estimate was in line with my expectations and he was able to schedule the work quickly. Everything was explained in advance and Jay was on site while the work was being done. The work was completed on schedule and the clean up was very thorough. If you are not an home improvement expert and rely on the knowledge and expertise of a contractor, it is important to get a sense of his reliability and professionalism. From the start, Jay was a dream to work with. I never felt he was rushing to get the job done and be gone and was committed to doing a quality job and leaving satisfied customers. He showed up with shingle samples when he said he would, had the team here on time the day the work started, and kept us informed on the progress. When the work was finished he made an appointment to show us the photos of the work as it was being done, including all the spots where bad wood was revealed and replaced, metal flashing installed, and sky lights sealed. I was impressed by the reviews from other customers on Angie's List for Jay and Homewise Pros for roofing and wondered if he could live up to those reviews. He did, in fact, he went beyond what was outlined in the contract and left us feeling that we got excellent value for our money and a great new roof.

Dealing with Jay Gleason of The Home Wise Pros was a great pleasure. We could tell right away that Jay was the right choice for us, because he takes great pride in his work, and documents every job with photos from start to finish. We didn't even bother to get any other estimates; fortunately, there was no need to based on price, because his estimate was surprisingly reasonable. And our new roof looks fantastic! We cannot imagine anyone doing a better job than Jay and his crew did. We'll certainly be calling The Home Wise Pros first the next time we need some home improvement work done. Thanks again, Jay!

The experience was great start to finish. The first meeting and estimate were conducted in a top notch professional manner. Jay (owner) explained everything and was very thorough. His crew showed up as expected and performed like pros as well. The job was not an easy one, but the guys powered through. They cleaned the work area with attention to detail and left us with a smile on our faces. I will definitely use Home Wise Pros again!

We knew the roof would need to be replaced soon when we bought the house, but had no idea how lucky we were to have a mild winter until Jay and his guys started to take off the old roof. Although Home Wise Pros bid was slightly higher than others we had received on its face, it was all inclusive. For example, Home Wise Pros' bid included the cost of new lumber rather making it an add on depending on the condition uncovered once the roof was removed. Jay spent substantial time with us explaining our options and the range of things he may find once the project began. Given the amount of wood rot found on the lower roof, Jay ended up using extra ice and water paper under the shingles without passing on the cost. Jay also made us feel confident that all necessary precautions would be taken in the removal of the asbestos portion of the roof. His crew was professional and courteous, both to us and our neighbors, and left the site clean when the project was complete. When we found some small damage resulting from the project, Jay was back with a workman in less than 24 hours to fix it up. Plus, the new roof looks great. Overall, working with Jay and the Home Wise Pros was a very positive experience, especially considering it was our first major home project, and we will definitely work with them again.

Pictures were taken of all the problems I had with my roof,etc. Jay gave me an estimate and had everything fixed and more! When the work was done, pictures where taken again ! I would recommend Home Wise Pros to anyone.

I purchased to have my roof and attic insulation evaluated with an Angie's List Big Deal Coupon. I had a scheduling problem that the vendor attributed to the enormous response the Big Deal elicited. Once scheduled I received a professional and courteous inspection but the price quoted for installing attic insulation was nearly double what two other vendors quoted me for identical work using an identical product. My assumption is that to rid himself of small and low cost work, the vendor doubled his price. I am curious how common this is with other Big Deal offers. Needles to say, I did not pay double the average rate for the work I needed done so I cannot comment of the quality of work this vendor performs.
