Jay called and came out exactly as promised. Very professional. He took dozens of pictures and showed me on his iPad where I needed maintenance. He went above and beyond what was in the deal and replaced the broken pipe collar for free. He pointed out where there may be problems not just with my roof but also the chimney and skylights. I saw on his iPad exactly what he was saying were problem areas. Advised to me to check the age of my roof in my homeowners paper work because my roof appears pretty old and although he does not see any problems, I should be prepared to replace it the next few years. It was a pleasure dealing with Jay and felt he made great recommendations and not trying t get over on me by forcing a new roof on me as some contractors would. A great deal. I would definitely recommend The Home Wise Pros.

We purchased the summer roof maintenance and sealing special offered by the Home Wise Pros through Angie's List. I spoke with Jay Gleason to express our concerns regarding the roof and to schedule the appointment. Jay and crew arrived on time and even called ahead. The maintenance was performed and photos were taken of the before and after. (I wish we had thought to do this with our attic insulation project.) Additionally, Jay pointed out several concerns he noticed with our siding and possible water infiltration. He provided a temporary fix to one particular area of the siding and suggested we contact a siding contractor. Also, we were told that given the condition of our roof, it has more life and that we should not let anyone sell us a roof at this time. Wow! This could have easily been an opportunity for more work. We love it when we find an honest contractor. We will definitely not hestitate to use Home Wise Pros in the future.

Knowing that our roof was near the end of its life, I took advantage of Summer Roof Maintenance and Sealing offer from Home Wise so I could get some real feedback on it. Scheduling the work was quick and easy. When Jay's men came to do the work, he called me immediately to say they couldn't do much, the roof was in bad shape. He met with me shortly after and showed me many pictures of what was going on, and yes, replacement was definitely in order. Jay's presentation was amazingly professional, organized, logical, thorough, and honest. He went through the explanation of problems (showing pictures) and the process of replacing the roof in great detail He made his recommendations about replacing the roof, but said he would do as much or as little as I wanted. The real testament to Jay's professionalism and thoroughness is that, when he made the same presentation to my husband a couple of weeks later, my husband agreed right away and didn't even push me for other estimates. (For him to agree to spend such a large some of money and not insist on other quotes is HUGE! It says a lot of about how much he trusted Jay.) As part of his presentation, Jay explained how things would happen in detail, specifying the materials that would be used, the clean up that would occur after, and the documentation of everything with photos. He loves technology and used his ipad to great effect and a satellite program to take precise measurements of our roof to give an accurate quote. That was impressive. We scheduled the work for late September. Jay was very communicative throughout the actual roof replacement process, right down to weather updates and timing. Between weather, our mansard roof and additional surprises during the process, it took two days instead of one, but Jay was determined to get it done and not defer the work. I had 8 men on my roof doing the job-they were hard workers indeed! A number of things came up during the replacement, and Jay was very, very concerned with doing the job right, but also keeping costs down for us. Much wood had to be replaced. Jay's men cut out what was bad and only replaced what needed to be replaced. In the pictures, the patched parts looked seamless and very well done. He was concerned about the aesthetics of the new roof, so he replaced a bunch of flashing, without charging us for the additional material. He replaced pipe collars and fixed a lot of problems caused by previous work that was not done right, especially around pipes and windows. (He did a lot of head shaking when talking about my roof.) Much of the rotted wood was beneath the windows in the mansard roof, so he recommended having someone come out to look into the windows. Meanwhile, he did a lot of caulking there! At the end of the job, he went through the pictures with me, illustrating everything that was done. Price: Jay applied the $149 I paid for the maintenance package toward the replacement cost. His quote included everything but the unknown amount of plywood that would need to be replaced, and he gave me a per sheet cost for that. Upon completion of the work, the plywood cost was in the middle of what he had estimated and he didn't charge for a few additional materials (aluminum flashing, 1 x 6 boards, etc.). The final cost was very much in line with what we were expecting. Jay is very conscientious, thorough, and wants his customers to be happy. He puts a great deal of time and effort into what he does. He was on site through much of the process. His employees worked hard and did a great job. They seemed quite happy and were quite nice. I was very pleased with the work and the entire process, and am happy I don't have to worry about my roof this winter.

Service rendered as expected. Problem with flashing around chimney resolved . Also inspected my roof, and told me that everything looked good.. Professional service, rapidly delivered. Satisfied customer.

I chose Home Wise based on Angie reviews, and the discount roof inspection promoted by Angie's List. As stated earlier in my critique, Home Wise professionals responded in a timely manner and performed above and beyond the inspection package offered. I especially liked the use of the IPad for taking photos to highlight problem areas and work maintenance. Home Wise professional Jay Gleason provided expert advice regarding areas of the roof his team repaired, along with commentary on roofing and siding issues. Having been courted by various contractors in the past, I am an expert at detecting "b********" and false promises. I can honestly say after speaking with Home Wise professional Jay Gleason, this company is knowledgable, committed to service, and takes pride in their work. I look forward to doing business with them in the future.

They sealed everywhere around the roof. They didn't damage anything, they were punctual, and explained everything great service. There was a Big Deal that was being offered on Angie's List but I called them first to make sure they would service my area. When I called them they told me I didn't have to call back to Angie's List and they would go ahead and honor the rate that was being offered. Jay and Johnny were so nice and very professional. They took pictures before and after. I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

This was a very pleasant experience. Mr. Jay was responsive and even let us know when he was going to arrive and when he was leaving. He noted some minor caulking/sealing work he did to the roof, as well as the pipe collar. He was very honest and punctual. I will definitely look forward to his services in the future if my roof needs any future work.

I was very satisfied with Jay's prompt and sympathetic assistance. Because he wanted to emphasize that not all roofing contractors were just interested in getting their clients' money, he gave me an extra discount, as no further repairs were required. He gave me his time and was very clear in answering my questions. And thanks to the extensive photos he took, I didn't have to climb up on my roof. In past years I did, but as I proceed further into my 60s, my fear of heights seems to increase with each year. He was very professional, and I will be sure to call his company in the future for any roof repairs or replacements. He earned my trust. .

Their service was not good. He made a lot of promises over the phone, but he did not keep them. He was not responsive in terms of coming out when he said he was. Angie’s List stepped him to call him and he did come out. He looked at the work and said I needed a new roof. When he called he said he would bring about 11 pieces of siding and if a few repairs needed to be done, he said he would do them on the spot. I asked him what the cost would be to do the work. He gave me a price on the phone. He wanted me to authorize the work over the telephone without having it completely spelled out what he was going to do. I asked for an email. I ended up telling him to just forget about it.

They arrived promptly, completed the task and even when beyond the call of duty by repairing a hole that a squirrel had made in a board running along the roof line. Excellent service.

Jay (the owner) will show you exactly what you are getting and will take pictures throughout the process, showing all of the work that did and verifying that you are getting what you paid for.

I thought I had a leak around a roof vent and thought I'd use the Angie's List big deal - my first experience with Angie the provider called before crew showed up the crew went on the roof and took pictures which they relayed to the provider who then emailed them to me - sort of clever way to do roof inspection the provider had originally quoted around 150 for one vent hood replacement, but after inspection quoted the 800 to fix everything I am not sure why I agreed to go ahead and have this done - had something to do with the guys already being here and on the roof and my generally poor knowledge of the value of roof work. Turned out not to take very long. The inspectors did not report that my whole roof showed damage from a hailstorm - a later inspection by an independent expert hired by my insurance company indicated that the whole roof needed replacement - which was subsequently done (paid for by insurance) I feel the provider was quite responsive, but I thought the price was high and the inspection inadequate. I would not use this provider again

Jay Gleason of The Home Wise Pros took on the challenge of the skylights for a reasonable price compared with the other estimates we had obtained. We knew he was serious about doing a great job when he had the Velux skylight rep on site for hours both before and during the 2-day job. Jay gained a thorough understanding of the flashing requirements to get the order correct and then made sure that his crew got expert direction during installation. Initially Velux told Jay that all the skylights were standard sizes. But a week before the original job date he was informed that the sixteen would be custom and that it would take 4 more weeks to fill the order. Instead of telling us that the job would cost more, he said he intended to absorb the additional cost and declined our offer to pay part of the extra. Jay's crew worked diligently under precarious conditions to remove the old skylights, which because of repairs over the years, had to be chiselled off. I had requested that they try to salvage some of the panes of glass for a use I had in mind, and they managed to preserve most of them, which is much appreciated. This final observation may seem frivolous to some but speaks to the focus and professionalism of Jay and his crew. We and our neighbors were not subjected to a blaring radio all day long, which I had come to expect from previous contractor engagements. We agreed to wait until after a good rainstorm before posting our review and we are glad to report the absence of any leaks following yesterday's downpour. We would definetely recommend (and already have) The Home Wise Pros to anyone wanting an excellent experience with a roofing contractor.

I was very impressed by the responsiveness and honesty of the representative (owner?) of this company. I located and reviewed the company on Angie's List. Encouraged by its high rating and stellar reviews, I called to arrange for a roofing estimate for damage sustained as a result of a severe thunderstorm (06/29/12). I left a message and received a return call within 24 hours. I was informed by the company representative that, because of an overwhelming number of requests for their services, and their policy to avoid roofing jobs during the winter months, they would be unable to, in good conscience, take me on as a roofing customer. I appreciated the candor of his response and the absence of greed as a motivator to 'string me along'. I will definitely keep Home Wise Pros on my 'short list' of home improvement contractors for future projects.

After having received quotes from two other highly rated Angie's List roofers, I chose Jay Gleason of the Home Wise Pros because of his commanding knowledge, honesty, integrity, and fair price. Ironically, he was the only one of the three who called my attention to severe deficiencies in the structural integrity of my roof which was visible to the naked eye (although unbeknownst to me as I rarely look up at the roof) or dedicated time to educate me on what to look for in roofing and other contractors such as the type and quality of materials used, tips on interviewing other contractors, and the anatomy and flow of a typical roofing job. He also did not try to up-sell me on unnecessary upgrades to shingles, warranties, and gutters or pressure me to make a decision. In fact, I was all ready to hire him after the second roofer visited and Jay advised me to wait to make a decision until I received the quote as it would offer reassurance that I made the right choice. He was right. My job was spread over the course of two days and flowed exactly how Jay said it would. What I particularly appreciated was that he communicated what was going on at every step of the way. The entire job from start to finish was documented with pictures from start to finish offering me peace of mind, especially considering I had to venture on a business trip while the roof was being installed. There are several areas where I truly felt they went above and beyond the call of duty: first was an unbecoming flat, small roof in the front of my house which they architecturally transformed into a sloped, shingled roof that now looks absolutely stunning; second was that he informed me after the fact that a couple of my trusses needed to be reinforced and shored up which they completed at no additional charge, and third while the quote included the cost of replacing all of the plywood, he credited me back the unused sheets when they determined the wood did not need to be replaced on the addition. I could not be more pleased with my choice and experience with Jay Gleason and his hard working team. My new roof looks amazing and he made the entire process so easy and carefree. You cannot go wrong with this team of professionals.

Overall I was happy with the work. They provided an estimate for additional maintenance work that needed to be done. The reason that I gave a "B" for "Professionalism" is because the work estimate I received was verbal, not written, which can add ambiguity, and made it hard to compare what I was getting vs. other estimates. Specifically, they did not price any gutter work; they said they would know more once they saw the situation (The person pricing out the work, Jay, was not the person that carried out the roof inspection/maintenance-package. He relied on the maintenance-package person's report and photos; and since the photos could not give enough detail about the gutter situation, he could not price-out the work or commit to fixing it--understandable, but more risky for me from a cost point of view). The price was fair for what they said they would do, compared to other estimates. I would have liked to go with them, but I received a work estimate from someone else that was able to inspect the gutters and provide a fixed estimate for that work as well. I really like the fact that Home Wise Pros takes before-and-after pictures of the roof work they do. One last thing, it took several calling attempts set up the initial work appointment, and to get the follow-up estimate (I got the impression that they were very busy), but I did eventually get call-backs, so I was OK with that. I would do business with them again.

Two gentlemen who barely spoke english arrived on the day of the inspection; no explanation of what they were looking for, what they were doing, or anything at all was given. I was told "the boss" would call me and tell me their findings. The boss finally called a week later and told me my roof is probably going to leak this winter, so don't be surprised if that happens. Really? Other than replacing the entire roof (which would cost $7 to $9k), no other solution was given. The roof is 14 years old, so it's far from new, but seriously? What a total waste of money. Awesome coupon, Angies List. Just saw this response, as I don't check this section very often. What he said is a complete and utter fabrication on so many levels. I never received or saw a single picture they took. 49 detailed photos? That's incredible you can't produce a single one. The home is in Howard County, not PG county. You take great pride in sending individuals out who don't speak English and provide zero feedback? You also take great pride in trying to scare customers into buying a new roof from you, when they are forced to call you in order to receive any kind of information on the services you provided? The prices that you quoted were ridiculously high, not to mention a new roof isn't needed. Miraculously, my roof indeed made it another winter without catastrophically leaking like you promised it would. It didn't leak period and I've had zero issues with my roof. I bought the coupon as a preventative maintenance thing b/c I bought the house a few years ago and wanted to make sure everything was still fine since the inspection I had done when I first bought it. I had zero expectations other than honest feedback, which this company did not provide and clearly is not. I didn't ask for my money back because I actually saw people show up, although I did not see them perform any work. They were curiously finished by the time I got home, which was about 5 minutes later than the time they were supposed to start the work. The only reason I even wrote a review was so that people in the future wouldn't waste their time or money on this company. No idea how they got an A rating and if they still have one, I'd be shocked. I rarely provide feedback on services unless the service is compelling in a positive or negative direction and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had with an Angie's List rated company.

Jay came to inspect our roof. He then sat down with us and discussed the damage and showed photos of the damage. He was on time, professional, and very informative. The day our roof was replaced Jay and his crew showed up on time. One of the reasons we hired Jay was that he is present during the job. With so many companies, a crew is sent and you never hear from the owner/manager again. Jay took photos at every step and showed us some wood that needed to be replaced. He kept us informed during the whole process. His crew was wonderful, cleaned up beautifully, and they finished the job in one day. At the completion of the job, Jay came in to review the whole job from start to finish with photos. Our new roof looks beautiful. I would hire them again without any reservation. I wish I would have known about them when we remodeled our kitchen. We have more work to do in the future and I will call Home Wise Pros first.

They arrived on time took steps to explain exactly what to expect and how it would be down. Proper steps were taken to protect the room from the insulation. They cleaned up at the end, overall it was a positive and professional experience.

, We live in a small cape and sustained damage from a recent storm. Home Wise Pros is owned by Jay Gleason and he is the gentleman with whom we communicated throughout the project. He is prompt, direct, and informative. Two of his crewmen came first to inspect the damage. Unlike the first bidding company, they actually got up on the roof, removed the tarp and took a close look. They looked at the whole roof as there was damage on the front and back. They took pictures. Jay then met with us and went over the roofing process, showed us pictures that documented past projects, and explained his estimate which also included some gutters that needed to be replaced. The roof took one day to complete. The crew was extremely courteous and clean!! They used safe practices and documented the project with pictures. Our roof looked grand afterwards and our yard was thoroughly picked up. if we didn't have the roof to look at, we would never have known they were there. After all of this, we sustained further damage to a part of the roof due to a lightening storm and Home Wise Pros returned and fixed the damage for a reasonable price. Communicating with Mr Gleason was comfortable and easy. He and his crew are first rate and we highly recommend them.

So, our first contact with HomeWise was the news that the owner, Jay, would be estimating the job without us having to be there, a refreshing change from the previous half-dozen-plus roofers we'd scheduled for.Second contact: We meet Jay and discuss our plans for roof replacement . We'd mostly gotten over the horror of replacing our roof with not-slate, and he was helpful in guiding us towards an appropriate asphalt-based product. This was the cool part where Jay whipped out his Ipad and showed us oh, about 100 photos of a typical roof job. And this would be my something something ...a thousand words moment . That simple slideshow that showed, not told, us just what was in store were we to choose HomeWise. I can't empasize this enough: The photos were an incredibly useful tool, offering a perspective that no other roofers provide.After the slides, we started the negotiation process; options, savings and alternatives, and Jay drops the the next tantalizing bomb: He'll do it in a day.Third contact: brief and over the phone. We want HomeWise.Our scheduled day dawns cloudy and rainy. The crew chills in their truck and waits for it to pass. They get on the roof at 9am, and I'm gone for the day. I get back home around 6pm, and besides a shiny new roof where there was previously worn and broken slates, there's literally no trace they were there. It rained buckets that night; I am serene.Last contact: Payment of balance, a closing of accounts, and our own slideshow of dozens of photographs of our roof job, before, after, and in progress. TL:DR Everything that was promised was delivered. The price was great, the service rocked.High points: Pictures, concern for safety, size of crew, speed, and clean-up.

The owner, Jay, was great. He's easy to understand and had pictures of everything. He explained it all on a consumer's level. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
