Overall, it went very well. Everyone was very professional and thorough. I was pleased with the outcome, eventhough I wish that I could have hired them to do a new roof.
Description of Work: I bought the Big Deal, which included a roofing inspection, complete with photos and evaluation by trained roofing professionals. I was given an estimate of $125. to repair shingle damage. I proceeded to have the work done, and I was then given photos after the work was completed. Later, I was also given an estimate for a new roof, with architectural shingles, which was around $9000. The owner impressed me with his thoroughness, and obvious knowledge about his business. Eventhough I believe that the company would have done a quality job, I thought that the price was high, based on other estimates. I elected not to have the work done at the time, and I have not yet hired anyone to do the job. Perhaps if there was a Big Deal that was offered by this company, I would consider it. I was sorry that I could not hire them to do the job.

Double check the fine print on your coupons! It was after purchasing the coupon for a roof inspection that I realized the service provider was not actually licensed to perform services in my area. Homewise Pros actually contacted me to schedule the work which is how we discovered the mistake and we worked together to quickly resolve the issue with Angie's List and organize a complete refund.
Description of Work: We actually did not use this service provider because even though Angie's list lead me to believe otherwise, they were not licensed in my area. Home Wise Pros did work with me to have the coupon refunded to my satisfaction.

Never heard back so I can't comment on the quality of their work.
Description of Work: I emailed these guys using the form on their website 2 weeks ago requesting an estimate and I never heard back from them. Granted, this was a couple of weeks after Hurricane Sandy and I know all of the local roofers are busy but still it's a big disappointment that we didn't even hear back.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to this customer. We receive many emails daily from many sources. Occasionally, our spam filters can confuse e-mails that are intended for us to read. We did not receive this customers email that they sent to us. As always, the best way to get into contact with us, is the old fashioned way; a phone call.

My only complaint, and very minor at that, is that it was hard to get them to schedule my house. It took a couple of calls (over a couple of months) but the guy was always super nice on the phone. Once they came out, the service was A+++.

It was okay. I felt the emphasis was on selling me a whole bunch of insulation. He told me in order to sell the home I would need to purchase a lot. When I asked a realtor about it, they said that wasn't true. He was very quick and nice.

Response from The Home Wise Pros Roofing
The insulation in this customers’ home was the original insulation that was installed when the home was built. We informed the customer that the recommended amount of insulation had doubled since the home was built. We recommended that more insulation be installed in order to bring this attic up to code. We also informed the home owner that should the home be sold, that a home inspector would also recognize the shortage of attic insulation and recommend to the potential buyers that more be installed.

I had 5 different contractors come out and give me detailed estimates on the replacement work. I made sure that each contractor was providing the exact same shingle and paper for the room so I had an apples to apples comparison. 4 of the 5 contractors were found on Angie's List while the 5th was a recommendation from a friend. Jay, the owner of the company, was a little different than the other contractors as he had hundreds and hundreds of pictures of his work rather than letters that some other contractors provided when requested. That did not factor into my selection of Home Wise Pro's but it was different. My home had both a normal pitched roof as well as a flat, or nearly flat, roof on the back. This flat roof had been a problem for me ever since I purchased the home. It only leaked once and that was the result of ice backing up and when it melted going beneath the shingles. Due to its lack of slope in the winter I had to constantly go up on the roof and shovel snow off to lessen the possibility of ice damming up and causing leaks. The roof was covered with a rubber membrane that was heat sealed on the seams. All 5 contractors suggested replacing the membrane with a similar material but it varied as to the brand of the membrane. I continued to have concerns over this roof and only Jay suggested that we raise the roof pitch of this flat roof. This had been something I had thought of for years but believed it could not be done due to the position of the skylights. Jay took some quick measurements and suggested for an additional sum, he could rebuild the roof line. This suggestion was a relief to me as it would prevent the problem I had been having for the prior 17 years. Even with this additional sum added, Jay was, while not the lowest of estimates, still toward the lower end of the estimates I had received. Jay took the time to not only provide what I had asked for, an estimate, but the time to listen to my problem with the current roof and suggest a solution. I was sold. As to the workmanship. Jay's crew, all employees not sub contractors, they were delayed a week by the weather but when rescheduled, arrived on time and worked the entire day. Jay was on site during most of the work and when he was gone he was actually out getting supplies for his crew. Each time there was a decision to be made or they identified something with the roof they did not expect he called me and informed me of the issue and his suggestion as how to proceed. As the weather delayed the project from beginning, it also delayed it in the middle, but each day they ended work they fully cleaned up the property of all evidence of them having been there. The work went great with no problems. I was impressed by the craftsmanship of his crew. They did not cut corners and even though they had to replace multiple sheets of plywood on the roof, if they could use a piece rather than a full sheet, each of which I paid for, they did. Since they completed the job we have seen Hurricane Sandy as well as no less than 3 thunderstorms pass through. Prior to the roof being replaced, every time we had high wind I lost shingles. Since replacement no leaks and no lost shingles. I was very happy with not only the cost of the job but the quality of the workmanship. I have recommended Jay to neighbors who have scheduled him for work next spring and have no reservation to continue to recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Had a complete roof replacement. The roof was not leaking in any location but was 17 years old and I had been loosing shingles during high winds. Roof was a very large single story home with 2 chimneys and 2 skylights.

Jay Gleason came out, did measurements and took pictures. Came back to meet with us to deliver the estimate and show is the pictures. His estimate was very informal at first, which initially concerned us. However, once we agreed to the work, he wrote up a professional contract. He came on the date promised for the work. He and his crew were very professional and worked extremely hard for 2 1/2 days, starting at 7 am and ending shortly after dark. He was responsive to all our questions and concerns. They accidentally damaged a light while working, and he replaced it without any hesitation. They took pictures throughout the process so that we could see exactly what was done. Jay was on site for nearly the entire time overseeing the work. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We recommend him and his crew wholeheartedly.

He came out and he looked in my attic. He said he could do an attic inspection for me but that what I really needed was a new roof. He gave me an estimate for a new roof. I thought the price was kind of high. I found another company through Angie's List that was considerably less. The things he showed me looked really good. The follow up was kind of weak.

Response from The Home Wise Pros Roofing
This was a very nice customer. We didn't want them to put money into their attic insulation when the roof needed to be replaced. If the roof started to leak, it would have damaged their brand new insulation. We gave them a fair price to replace their roof, but like everything else you can always find someone to do it cheaper. We photograph and document every step of the roof replacement process to show our customers that all the products and features they paid for, are exactly what they received. We have replaced hundreds of roofs this year and we have never had a complaint or leak and want to keep it that way. We believe there's one way to do a roof, the right way. Sometimes it cost a little more to do things the correct way and we believe that for most customers our roof will be the last roof they ever need.

We contacted Home Wise Pros based on the Angie's List reviews we read. Jay and his team were excellent from start to finish. The thoroughness of Jay's proposal and the work completed were a perfect match. Our roof had sustained hail damaged from an exceptionally severe storm in late June. Some contractors offered to replace our roof for "whatever the insurance adjuster writes the check for." Others promised low estimates with vague proposals. Home Wise Pros was the only one who came armed with hundreds of photos of their workmanship and the materials they use. Jay promised to photograph every step of our roof replacement, and he certainly did! It was easy to see where the roof plywood needed replacing from wear and weather by looking at his photos. Home Wise promised only one day of inconvenience, and that's all it was. I stopped by the house mid-morning on the day of installation and was very impressed with the pace and professionalism of the crew. In particular the crew foreman was very knowledgeable and took the time to talk to me about what was going on. When they left at the end of the day the yard was clean, the debris was removed, and the roof was beautiful! We would HIGHLY recommend Home Wise Pros to our friends and family.
Description of Work: Home Wise was contracted to remove our hail damaged three-tab shingle roof and replace it with a new architectural style shingled roof. They also installed a ridgeline roof vent on the house and garage.

We have never offered any kind of roof package for $45.00.. We have looked for this customer in our database and contacted Angies List to help us find them as well, with no luck. At this point we believe this customer is confused about what they bought and from whom. We would be more than happy to help them if they decide to call us, but because we have no information about them we don't know how to contact them.

It went very well indeed. I could not be home when Home Wise did their inspection so their verbal report two days later was comprehensive and detailed.
Description of Work: They preformed the inspection and touch up of the roof on my house as offered through Angies List. Their inspection was very throurgh noting a variety of situations that require watching on a 15 year old roof. They offered several suggestions ranging from a tree removal to a genereal roof clean up. They pointed out areas of siding that require immediate attention. They went beyond what was contracted for by doing extra tacking down and sealing of flashing.

They gave my an appointment the next day, and the technician came right on time. Before he arrived, he gave me a call to notified me. He has given a comprehensive inspection of the whole house of three levels, explaining to me what he was doing and what is subject to going wrong, even getting some dirty stuff out of the sink. It turned out no plumb leaking, so that I could be confirmed the water is from the hurricane. The technician brought a tablet with him, so that he could email me the receipt and his recommendations to me, which I feel pretty neat.

They came when they said they would, a little closer to the end time window they stated. They introduced themselves, and went to work on fixing the roof. I couldn't stay past the time we agreed upon, but they called me stating they completed the work, and sent me pictures of the before and after work. I was on the roof last year, so the before pictures were correct. They were quick about doing the work. I believe it took only a couple of hours. Afterwards, there was no evidence that they had been there--cleaned up good after their work. After the first rain a few days later, the roof still leaked. When I called them back, they redid the work, without any hassle or additional cost. Since then, I've had no issues, even with a few heavy rains we had this year, including Hurricane Sandy.
Description of Work: They surveyed the roof for an assessment of not only the work I was looking to get done, but also determine wear and a possible future work for a Ridgeline Vent. My roof is 15 years old, and they said still has a few good years left on it. They focused on replacing a vent collar, where I was getting a leak in my master bathroom. They replaced the robber vent collar, sealed the screw areas, and replaced the shingles around the area.

I had contacted the Home Wise Pros after we had some roof leaking during Hurricane Sandy. I purchased a roof maintenance package because we knew that our builder hadn't done a great job sealing our roof and we needed regular maintenance after one three years. The company did a wonderful job explaining what they thought the problem was and they explained that due to the hurricane, they were backed up with roofing work. They said that even though they were 45-90 days behind with scheduling they would try to get my work in within 2 weeks as they finished up other jobs. In reality, they were here in 2 DAYS. We very much appreciated this since more rain was coming. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who's looking for roofing work. They are prompt, professional, and friendly.

I wasn't here when the inspection and work was done so I don't have many details but the company was very professional in its dealings with me and I would use them again if needed.

We initially thought our roof was in need of a few patch and repairs. We had several estimates by other roofers suggesting everything from the gutters being too small, to missing vapor barrier, to cracked shingles. We actually had contracted with another roofer to perform repairs for now, and then redo the whole roof at a later time, next year. Needless to say those "repairs" did not fix the leaks we had. The roofer was not responsive to my calls to talk about doing the complete re-roof. I called Homewisepros, as I was looking for a company where the owner was personally involved. I called the main number and Jay Gleason answered the phone, and told me point blank that his schedule was quite full, and repairs would be a while, and in fact his re-roofing schedule was looking out for several months (3+). But he took the time to really talk with me without trying to sell me, and at the same time was giving me practical tips and questions to ask any new roofers I was getting estimates from. I felt his sincerity and professionalism, so I asked if he could come out an give us look at the roof. I am glad i did. Jay made the appointment to come see the roof. Although I could not be home during his estimate and roof review, he did make a follow up appointment to meet with my wife and I and look at the roof and around the house. It was really great to see all the photos that Jay took with his Ipad, and we could, for once see all the areas on the roof that needed help. We looked at over 80 pictures of the roof, the flashing, the ridge vent, the dormers, the drip edge, cracked shingles, missing shingles, weather caulking, etc. It was perfect to really see what was wrong and why it was time to really re-do the roof. Jay came back and presented his pricing, it was fair. We had several estimates, and his was in squarely in the middle, even after he discovered a math error in the take off. We all agreed on a modest, but fair increase to the total cost to cover the extra materials. Jay remained in contact, and even moved our scheduled date ahead by 30 days. The crews arrived on time, the work was exceptionally well done. They even painted my roof pipes to match, so the ugly white PVC was no longer and eye sore. The ridge vent was replaced and extended by several feet. The roof collars are all new and we now have ice dam, which was not required when we built. The crew was polite and they covered all the areas below the roof - decks, shrubs, sidewalks. There were several areas (6) which needed replacement wood sheathing, all documented in the copious pictures taken of the job in progress. We did have an extra charge for the repairs, and this was explained beforehand that it was $50/sheet for repair. I should have gotten a little better clarification of what a 'sheet' is. I assumed a 4x8 was a sheet, but I think it was more accurate to say $50/repair, as the pictures showed 2'x4' repairs. Not a big deal to me - I was happy to know they were repairing it correctly! I did not mention this to Jay, since this just occurred to me as I wrote this. The clean up was very thorough and everything was back in place as before the work was done. Jay came back to ensure we were happy with everything. He assured me to 'Call if you have any concerns or issues, anytime!" I feel very confident we made the right choice, and in the event we have any issue, Jay and HomeWisePro's will stand behind any their work. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: A complete tear off and re-roof of approximate 2400sf of roofing on a 3 dormer cape cod, using 30 year architectural shingles. New drip edge, new ice dam, repair of 6 rotted areas in the roof deck, new pipe collars.

My review is short and sweet. Mr. Gleason is the best contractor we ever hired. He was prompt, courteous, friendly and made everything easy to understand. I cannot say one bad thing about him or his crew. The job was done in a day and looks perfect. I highly recommend him to everyone.
Description of Work: They removed all old shingles on our two story home and garage and installed new shingles, and ridge vents. They replaced one piece of plywood that was rotted. They painted pipes on the roof and removed a satellite dish. They cleaned gutters and completely cleaned up everything when finished. They provided pictures of everything they did.

There were no leaks! Jay, the sales representative and job foreman, spent a lot of time answering our questions and providing background information prior to signing the contract; this was a big help! The crew completed the job within one work day, as promised. Also important was the quality and thoroughness of workmanship, both of which were excellent. Jay pays great attention to detail and he ensured we were informed and happy with the entire job. Homewise Pro ?chalklines? the plywood to ensure the shingles are in a straight line, and straight they were. Our roof has a mansard, which makes it a bigger challenge to get the shingles in line, and they look perfect now. He also made an extra effort just prior to the storm to ensure our gutters were clean and running freely, which gave us assurance that our house would survive the potentially heavy rain. Jay takes a lot of pictures to document the materials used and the work done, paying particular attention to the replacement of rotten or soft plywood under the shingles. The documentation is important to show the user they got what they paid for in the contract. They are reliable and their work is high quality.
Description of Work: Homewise Pro did a roof replacement on our house immediately before Hurricane Sandy arrived. Old shingles were removed, plywood and flashing replaced as needed. New shingles installed

Jay was responsive in communicating to set up the date and time, called to let me know he was on his way, and arrived within the range of time he specified. He was very thorough and let me know about a couple of problem areas and what to watch out for. He answered the questions I had clearly, and he advised us about some solutions that will hopefully save us money in the long runs. I was very happy with the service and would highly recommend.

I called to set up an appointment. I got a message back later that day that they were too busy to do my minor repair. The message said they were booked until spring. I'm a little confused, since they are offering an Angie's List Deal. Luckily I didn't buy it before calling. When you look closely at the details, there is no expiration date. I'd be really annoyed if I bought it and couldn't use it for a half year. So, unless you are willing to wait a half year to get your work done, no matter how small the job it, then use another company. They really shouldn't be offering a deal if they can't set up an appointment for that long.
Description of Work: I needed a minor repair. We live in a town home, with bay windows in a pop out on the first floor. The ceiling leaked during the storm.

Response from The Home Wise Pros Roofing
We put customers in the appointment schedule in the order of urgency. With this terrible hurricane we have been working 7 days a week to try to get out and help as many folks as we can. Some folks have little or no money and we have been doing some repairs for free because that’s what we need to do to support our community in this time of need. We have been helping people that have been displaced from their homes and have garbage cans sitting in living rooms and bedrooms while they live with friends or neighbors Just like and ER room we take care of those in most need of our services first. The customer that left this review is quite possibly the most self-centered uncaring individual I have run across to date. She called and left a message stating she had a very small problem with her roof. Knowing her situation was not one of disaster we called back and left a message letting her know we could not come out until March. If she had a question about the wait time all she had to do was call us and we would have gladly explained it to her. But she doesn’t do this she just leaves and F and insinuates that those other people that have been kind enough to let those in need have the work done on their homes first are in some way not as bright as her. She also thinks that we should stop offering our maintenance package all together. We will work with the community as long as it takes to help get people dry and safe again. Shame on her and this type of selfish, me-me-me-behavior. If she doesn’t remove her review and leave an accurate one we will be putting a more detailed version of her and this poor behavior on the 12 local community blogs we belong to warning people about her. Thank all of you out there that have been so understanding and patient in this time of need. We will get to all of you as soon as we can.

Arrived on time and called when work was completed.
Description of Work: The company inspected the roof of my home and garage. They sealed some cracks around vent pipes on the house roof. Very responsive and punctual.
