The Home Wise Pros Roofing

I would (and have) recommended Home Wise Pros to replace your roof if you need a new one. I felt Jay, form Home Wise Pros was honest and professonal throughout the processes of us getting our roof. He is timely and responsive to phone calls and questions. Jay answered everyone one of my endless questions about the process and materials needed to replace our roof. He has his team take pictures of the work being done so you can see where any additonal costs may come in (which we had NONE our estimate was our final cost), see that all the proper materials are used, and to see the proper procedures are also being used. The team at to my house worked all day and cleaned up great before they left. I wanted to let my dog out in the yard when the work was done but one of the men said he still needed to use the metal detector in the backyard to assure nothing was missed and I found the clean up awesome too. My roof looks great and was replaced within a couple of days of our assigned date (due to the intense heat we waited 2 days), clean up was great, and there were no hidden costs. I would also like to mention that Jay had one of his men patch a leak in my roof when they were working at my neighbor's house so it would not leak while we waited to get our roof put on. He also took pictures of a potential problem with my chimeny so when I have someone come look at it I will have the documentation I need to show them what's going on. I feel the Home Wise Pros went out of their way when putting on my roof and I really appreciate the workmenship and honesty they provided for us.

I needed to clarify some points about this Angie's List special offer and after that it was obvious that I needed a more serious roof repair. The contractor was very understanding of my situation.

Everything was top notch, from the estimate proposal to the post-work review. Jim is one of the most professional business owners I have met and knows about customer service. He's not there to upsale or get you to agree to products and services that you don't need. However, he will also make sure that you will have a roof to last and hopefully, he will not have to come back. They are busy! So, we had to wait a month before the work was done, but well worth the wait. They worked on one of the hottest weeks in a decade and still got the work done in two days. They removed two layers of old shingles, inspected the roof for water/dry rot and replaced all pieces of wood at a very cheap price of $55 per sheet. However, they used the entire sheet, charging us for only two sheets when they could have made poor cuts and charged us a whole lot more. They also identified areas of concern and made modifications to correct some shoddy work done decades ago to make sure the roof will last. One of the most unique items is that they completely painted all non-shingle areas of the roof (pipes and vents) that normally stick out of the roof to not only protect the metal but provide a very clean and new look. Even though the job went two days, each day they left the property completely clean. I was very impressed. I would absolutely and strongly recommend that anyone looking to get their roof re-shingled, give these guys a call.

They were fine. They did the job satisfactory. I would use them again in the future.

The guy that came was very nice and competent. He just stood in the doorway of my attic and moved a flashlight around. Usually that type of service is free. But, I have no complaint with him and may use them again.

We had the roof replaced about 20 years ago, and about 13 years ago had repairs done to it. In neither case were we satisified with the work. We had continued leakage around the chimney, and the workmanship was shoddy. We took advantage of an Angies List coupon for roof inspection and sealing with The Home Wise Pros. Jay inspected the roof, did some sealing, and reported on its condition, with copious photographs. He confirmed our thoughts that we needed a new roof. In submitting a proposal, he showed us photographs of the roof replacement process on other houses and explained everything thoroughly. We've talked enough to other construction pros to have a sense that what he was telling us made sense, and that he wasn't snowing us or upselling us. We set a date, and when an earlier opening came up we took it. We left the house in the morning, and when we came back we had a beautiful new roof. The flashing and everything else looks very professionally done. The crew did a fantastic job of cleaning up, and nothing is leaking! All in all, a very professional job at a reasonable price, and Jay was a pleasure to work with.

I had a great experience. Jay was a true professional at all times: could answer all my questions, I never felt rushed, he didn't try to "sell" me, and he was always on time. I was not home when the actual work took place, and as previous reviewers have mentioned for a roof job you typically don't have too. Having skylights placed they wanted an owner to be present for accuracy of placement and to have access inside the home. With that being said, Jay was courteous to make the skylights the first order of business so whoever was home could leave within a hour. The shingles arrived the day prior to installation and placed on the roof. The actual job went well and was done in one day, with immaculate clean up. Contractors get a bad rap and it's hard making a decision but I don't think you'll go wrong with this company! *We originally signed with another company that had pretty high ratings on here, but I had a bad feeling in my gut about the guy. He tried upselling ys on items not necessary residential homes, i.e. silicon undersiding instead of heavyweight felt paper and was rushing us to sign the day of... When we changed our mind and canceled the contract within 3 days (which he reminded us we could do), he took the full 10 days according to the law to refund our $4, 000 (I know now is a high deposit, highest according to the law) although his office is about 15 minutes from the house. Very rude and inconsiderate. Stick to Home Wise Pros.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They did a good job.

Actually there were a lot of problems with the roof, but we ended up not going with them to do any repairs. They seemed a little reluctant to want to do the work. They didn't do any work, they just did an inspection. I didn't get any official estimate from them. They just kind of came out and then recommended some things. They were good and they were professional. I just think the work that I needed was probably outside of their scope of the work that they do. Considering that they didn't really do anything, I think the price was a little high. I was kind of hoping that they would at least do a few things. They just came and looked and I could get anybody to come and take a look at the roof for free. I would probably not use them in the future, because they just don't feel that they have experience working with the type of roof that I have. It is a flat roof and in a city. I just get the impression that they were not used to working with these old homes in the city.

I was satisfied with The Home Wise Pros and their work. They came soon after I purchased the Big Deal. They were professional. I was happy with them. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I was impressed by that.

They were great! I would recommend them. I think they're straight to the point. They don't try to sell you on anything. They take pictures of everything, they do a lot of photo. They take pictures of everything they do and they show you. They don't really try to sell you anything. They just tell you what it is. They're not particularly cheap necessarily but I thought that they were being honest with me, who knows really, but that was my impression. I don't know what they did in their initial visit and I don't really know how much the big deal was a discount but it did get me in touch with them and I felt like they did good work at a reasonable price. I don't know if the actual deal saved me money, who knows. But I was pleased with the company. The only grief I had was that it took a long time to schedule. I think they were so busy. It wasn't all them, it took me a while to call them. There was a delay though. The deal for inspection cost $149 and I believe they discounted that from my final bill. I don't know if they did anything for the initial cost except the inspection but they did give me a discount on my final cost.

Contacted Home Wise Pros for an estimate to replace our 20 year-old roof. Jay came out to our house and went over the work involved and we set the date for the job. He called the day before to let us know the guys would be out the following day. The guys arrived prompted at 7:30am and were done around 1pm. What a great job they did! The roof looks great and there was no debris anywhere in our yard. Would highly recommend Home Wise Pros.

I really liked them because I didn't have to be here, they did their thing and they gave me a reasonable recommendation. They were very clean. They answered a couple of questions I had about their work. I was very happy with their work.

It went fine, there were thing that they found, basically I paid that money and they said that money would be credited or there's $100 worth of repair included with that, I can't remember what it was. I didn't feel like I got anything from that money so in that sense I was disappointed. Initially I had problems scheduling them, then I had problems getting the actual report and once I got the report I haven't heard from them since pretty much.

Jay was my main contact throughout the whole process and it was a pleasure to do business with him. As someone with a lot of experience in the service field I recognize and very much appreciate people like Jay who provide excellent service, stand behind their work, work hard to keep their clients happy, and are knowledgeable in their field. Jay communicates clearly, honestly & effectively (and sticks to what he says, even if not in his favor.) He was always easy to reach if I had any questions and was very patient as I agonized over roof color. Before deciding to use Jay for the roof replacement project I had met with 4 other well rated companies. Out of those there was only one other that I had a good gut feeling about, that gave a reasonable quote and provided examples of their work that I found to be good- but the quote was higher, the wait longer, and he did not embrace technology as Jay does which makes doing business easier in my experience. Others gave much higher quotes and when I went to look at houses they had done the roofs had an odd and undesirable checkerboard appearance with the architectural shingles that the roofs done by Jay's crew did not exhibit. I also ran into one homeowner when looking at the reference work who had nothing but positive things to say about his experience with Jay's company. Even though it was years later he still remembered the excellent service he received and was happy to take time to talk about it which said a lot to me! The roof went on as scheduled. Jay kept me up to date the week of the install, and checked in several times during the day of the replacement. His crew arrived right at 6:30am and got to work. They worked hard, didn't have music blasting and yelling was kept very minimal. I actually slept through the first 6 hours of the install as I worked overnight the night before. They were done by 5-6pm and cleaned up the yard and driveway thoroughly. The new roof is beautiful and makes the rest of my neighbors roofs look bad now! :) They also painted the vents coming out of the roof so it blends in better which makes a huge difference and was something some of the other companies had not done on houses I saw. The roof got a good test with all the rain and severe storms in the area right after install and was perfect. No water staining as occurred with the old roof. Additionally now that the house has a ridge vent the A/C has been more effective at keeping the house cool. Still I will be calling Jay for new insulation as soon as I've saved the money for it! He was also very understanding of how big the (unanticipated) roof replacement expense was and was careful to keep the costs low, not let me make decisions that would have been more costly without benefitting me enough to justify their expense, and helped in any way he reasonably could to make it less painful. I did have one problem during the install, but nothing that was their fault. My A/C set line was installed close to the roof deck where it enters the house. It ended up being pierced by a nail which led to all the freon escaping and the unit ceasing to work. It would have been a miracle for them not to hit it with where it was installed (and it was not easy to spot even from within the attic.) After I mentioned it to Jay and what one company had quoted me for the repair he was quick to offer his assistance. He arranged with me to have an A/C company come out he was familiar with and also sent the crew manager Eduardo who had been here on roof install day and an assistant to be here in case they were needed. They were all here for several hours and got the repair done that day for far less than I was quoted by another company. The A/C now is working even better than before since they also replaced the filter for me and the ridge vent keeps the attic cooler. It was a shining example of excellent service and going above and beyond- much appreciated. I'm very pleased with my choice of contractors. After our first meeting I was confident he was the right man for the job and was sure that meant he would be too expensive. Instead he was both the best choice and the lowest bid. I could not have asked for a better experience. The comfort of knowing his crew is skilled and that he will stand by his company's work makes him worth it even if you can find a lower bid. Good service can be hard to come by, especially if you're as picky and hard to please as I am. I would strongly recommend using Jay and his crew for a roof replacement project and look forward to having them back for an insulation overhaul! Thanks for everything Jay & crew!

Outstanding outfit!!!The owner is professional from the word go. He was beyond accommodating. They were wonderful to do business with this firm. They were quick, on-time, neat and clean. I would recommend this company to anyone.

It was fine. They did really well. From the date that I called them, the appointment was in within a week or two, so, it was pretty quick, the turnaround. He noticed that I did need additional work and took a lot of pictures and everything and did whatever it was that the deal called for, I think it was some type of maintenance. It was my first time using them and I really liked the fact that the gentleman knew what he was doing, and for him to be able to provide the pictures of the damage up there because, usually, you will have to pay for that type of service, and he came out to do one thing. But he definitely gave me quality service and a good consultation on the additional work that I needed and was able to provide pictures to me as well, in the event that I decided to go with someone else for those particular services.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It turned out pretty well. They were very honest. It took them a week to come out after I purchased the Big Deal. I had no problem with them.

Everything went okay with The Home Wise Pros. It was more expensive than I thought it would be. There were some nails that were left over on the roof but it's not leaking, so it's good. The sealing of the rest of the roof wasn't done. They gave me that money off of the roof replacement. It was one hundred and fifty bucks or whatever it was. They were pretty good and very professional. They did a good job. It was decent but it wasn't as good as another part of my roof that I had replaced. There weren't any big flaws but the finishing touches weren't as good as I would like them to be.

From start to finish, we have been extremely happy and pleased with the Home Wise Pros Company. The owner, Mr. Jay Gleason came to our house for a quote. He was courteous and professional. He looked at the roof thoroughly. He had with him a view from the top of our roof so that he had all the measuring work already done. He gave us a price, which was the cheapest of the 5 roofing company which came over for a quote. The contract, which we signed, was detailed and easy to understand. On a funny note our cat that can be distant with strangers came right on his laps! As a professional mathematician, I do my best to ground important decisions on relevant facts. I am not sure of the correlation between ?the cat is friendly with the roofer? and ?a good roof job? in the general population but I bet it is positive. The day of the job, the team was on time at 7am.The weather was not cooperative at first but very quickly the sky cleared. The team of 7 men worked hard and professionally on our roof for 14 hours. They were very nice and friendly as well. No blasting radio or shouts. Our roof had a few unpredictable technical difficulties. Jay came during the day. The roof had to be leveled. They took care of it. Our roof is big. We are living in a ranch house and it has a low slope, which needed careful attention. The work was extremely well documented, more than 500 pictures were taken and every detail was covered. We now know everything from flashing to plywood and shingles, thanks to the Pros. Also, the cleaning around the house was impressive. Mr. Gleason came to our house three days after the job was completed to explain the work done. We went through the pictures and each step. Mr. Gleason didn?t charge us for leveling the roof. We paid in full right away. Thank you again. We can?t be happier with our new roof.

My experience to them turned out fine. I had an additional work done that I paid for separately. They had a good communication, I was out of town actually when they came in and did the work, they called me to let me know how the inspection went and they quoted me price over the phone, they stuck to the price and then it went smoothly.

I was not happy with my experience to them because they used the big deal to get a big contract, it was like they recommend that my roof needs to be repainted even though it was just like 5 years of age. I just had a second opinion, I had a warranty for the roof because it's just a new house and I called them to fix the issues. The thing that stood out to me is I spoke to them twice and I felt that they want to get a big contract on me using the big deal and they didn't performed any work, they've just took some pictures and told their recommendations for the roof. They send me the pictures and they insist that my roof is old and as a home owner, I know my roof is still good.

That was okay. I think the guys are nice. They were good. They were okay. He handed me the picture, which was good, nice because I don't like to get up on the roof. I thought that it was nice. I'd say there a little steep on pricing. I think it could've have been better for the amount of time and work.
