The Home Wise Pros Roofing

After countless hours of meeting with various roofers in the Maryland area, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon The Home Wise Pros on Angie's List. Jay Gleason was the only owner from a long list of vendors that finally provided us with a simple break down of the essentials of replacing a roof. Appreciating the fact that we had done our own homework, Jay kept it simple by giving us what we truly needed -- a competitive quote for high quality work/craftsmanship. On the day of our roof replacement, Jay and his team did not let us down. Not only was he able to squeeze us in a week early, he also kept us updated throughout the day on his progress. By the time we got home early evening, we were pleasantly surprised by how clean everything was and even caught Jay doing a final property walk before wrapping things up. We are fully satisfied with our decision to use The Home Wise Pros. Jay's responsiveness, reliability and commitment to excellent work minimized all of the anxiety that comes with such a big decision. As Jay knows best, a picture is worth a thousand words -- our new roof is beautiful!

Terrific. The owner of the company, Jay Gleason, was wonderful to work with. He was very personable and responsive. My roof was a very complicated project because replacement was many years overdue. Coupled with the asbestos, I was very concerned about finding someone who could do the job thoroughly. Most people, myself included, do not know much about roof repair. Yet, I had no concerns whatsoever about the integrity of this company. I was very confident that all their recommendations were accurate and honest. All 5 areas were replaced with a very attractive architectural tile. The company sent me several referrals to drive by before making a decision on color and style. Another important thing to note is that they have a very large crew. Accordingly, they will do your entire roof in 1-2 days (barring weather). This is significant because a smaller company with less people may need to stretch the project out over a longer period of time, thus leaving the roof exposed to potentially bad weather. They also take pictures of the entire project start to finish. So I could actually see pictures of the wood underneath the shingles. This is important because part of a roof replacement includes replacing any damaged wood. The company documents this with photographs so you can be sure that there really is a need to replace the wood. The photographs also show all other stages of the projetct. Pricewise, I thought the price was very reasonable. I was given a price for the replacement which was not subject to change. The only variable was the cost of the replacement wood (which you cannot know before you remove the shingles). But they gave me an estimated range of that cost. And the final additional cost of wood was within this range, and as noted above, there were photographs to document the condition of the wood. All in all a GREAT home repair experience. I have already sent the company to my mother-in-law's house to do an estimate on her roof. I highly and happily recommend!

The job went well from start to finish. I had a roof leak that caused damage to an interior ceiling. Home Wise was quick to send someone out to assess the leak and the potential for additional problems. Then Jay, the owner, came to give an estimate. It was quickly obvious that he was very experienced and was interested in doing a first rate job. He showed me many pictures of other jobs his company had performed. The estimate was reasonable ( I got two) and I signed the contract. He actually started the job a week before we were scheduled which was just fine with us. During his estimate, he noticed some rotting wood decking so we created an allowance for that. Everything went off without a hitch and in fact he replaced significantly less wood than I thought and the job turned out to be less expensive than we had budgeted. In wrapping up the job, he met with me and showed me pictures of everything they had done. He showed me pictures of the wood that was removed, etc. It appeared that all work was done in a professional manner and the crew did an excellent job of clean-up. All in all, this was a very favorable experience (except I had to spend money). The work was professional and the price within reason. I have recommended Home Wise to others and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Jay seemed fair and honest. Workers on roof were also polite and professional. The roof looks good at least from ground level. Jay explained what they found - some rotted boards - and took many pics. Quality seems great. I'll submit another review in 40 years to let you know how the roof held up.

The Big Deal worked out fine. They provided the service within a week after we purchased the Big Deal and there were no additional charges to the $149 Big Deal. That was the first time we used them. I did not deal with them, but my husband did because he is retired and I am still working. We did have any issues with roof since the service was provided.

Jay came to our home to give us a free consultation and estimate. He was on time and courteous, and he was patient in explaining details and answering questions. He was also patient in answering questions we later had by phone. Of the four bids we received, the price of the Home Wise Pros' was the second highest. We went with them because we felt that the quality of the service would be high, which it was. We prefer to pay slightly more and get high-quality service than to pay less and be unsure about the quality of the job. Scheduling the roof replacement went well, and the company was able to accommodate our schedule. Jay had originally wanted to schedule the job for a Wednesday, but when we requested that the date be changed to Thursday, he said yes. Jay called us numerous times before and during the job, to keep us informed and to make sure we were all on the same page. When he had questions, he always confirmed things with us before taking action. We were concerned about the possibility of our herb garden being damaged. Jay told us that they would do their best to keep it safe, and when the job was finished we discovered that there was no damage at all. We learned that the crew was very careful to keep all debris away from the garden. Our neighbor watched the crew working all day long, and he told us that the crew was exceptionally clean and neat in their work; he said he was impressed. The crew did a good job of cleaning up, and we came home to a neat yard and driveway. Jay showed us pictures of the rotting wood that was removed, as well as pictures of other things. There was never a moment during the process when we felt confused about what was going to happen. Jay was in contact with us regularly. He was clear in explaining how the process would work and receptive to our wishes. The crew arrived on time and were polite and professional. We are happy with our new roof and are grateful to the Home Wise Pros for their great work and service.

I had a great experience. Jay was very responsive and friendly during each phase of the work. They arrived when scheduled and took pictures of the entire job. The owner was onsite every day during the work and sent me updates throughout the day. Considering what they started with I think our roof looks great and I am very happy. I had been very hesitant to hire anyone for a large job after my experience with the initial garage build. This company was a pleasant surprise. Thanks again!

Jay was awesome! We contacted three different companies, and just knew that this was the right one. Jay sent an estimate, but came over that night to go through the whole thing with us and made sure we understood exactly what the estimate entailed. He stopped by not once, but twice, with different samples because we couldn't make up our minds. He was honest, professional, and just all around easy to do business with. He set realistic expectations for the timing of the roof, checked in to make sure we were still on track and came when he said he was going to. He and his crew arrived right on time, on a Sunday, I might add. They got right to work, covering all of our bushes and taking time to move all of our potted plants and sidewalk lights out of the way. Jay checked in twice during the day, sending us pictures of the progress. After the roof was complete, he came back and went through at least 100 pictures detailing the entire process, showing us the damaged plywood that needed to be replaced, how the flashing was installed, installation of the ice and water paper, everything down to the painting of the vents and pipes. Replacing a roof is one of those things that you budget and plan and sort of worry about doing. Jay made the whole process easy, stress-free and even pleasant. He's easy to talk to, answers every question-even the ones that sound a little silly- and extremely thorough in his practice. He's cheerful and funny and we would gladly recommend him to anyone and everyone looking for roof work.

We got 5 bids in total from different roofers. You know how sometimes when you meet someone, it doesn't feel right, and when you meet someone else, it just does? A couple of the guys we met with just didn't feel right. But with Jay, it did. The fact that his was the lowest price was also great. We would probably have gone with Home Wise Pros even if they weren't. Weather was the biggest factor in scheduling the replacement. Jay did a great job communicating with us and watching the forecast. He called us just about every day. He said the work was to start between 7 and 7:30, and indeed, the whole crew was there promptly. They worked quickly and efficiently and were quite pleasant in nature. They accommodated us going in and out to get kids to games and parties. The clean up was very effective, and there was no damage to any of our shrubs and landscaping. The work was all completed in a single day. One nice touch is that they paint the vents black so they don't stick out so noticeably. We did notice the day after they finished that one of the decals/stickers on a skylight had been left on. I called Jay. He said no problem, someone would be there the next day to take it off. And indeed, someone showed up, let us know they were here, climbed up, removed the sticker and left. The attention to detail, the promptness of the crew, and the fact that they do exactly what they say they are going to do is why I highly recommend Home Wise Pros. Oh, and it has rained alot since the new roof was installed and we have no leaks.

Just yesterday we had our roof replaced by The Home Wise Pros. They installed an architectural roof and it looks fantastic! Jay Gleason was very responsive to our request for an estimate, more so than any other company. He had taken aerial pictures of the roof, came over with brochures and samples, and explained everything in detail. As the installation date came closer, Jay kept in contact with us about the day it would happen. It only took them one day to complete. Afterwards, he showed us numerous pictures of what occurred throughout the day, including the areas where the plywood had rotted and needed to be replaced. All in all, the process from beginning to end was excellent; we would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone!

Jay at Homewise was amazing; ; Jay came out and meet with us in the evening; explained everything about roofing and what they would install, how long it would take, helped us pick the right roofing and didnt try to talk us into spending extra money for expensive shingles; we had other estimates that were 4k over the price we paid Homewise.... .Lots of communication before the date of installation; showed up exactly when they said they would; our roof was large so it took 12 for completion; they completed the job in one day and its beautiful; Jay had pictures before to show what our roof looked like (when he came for the initial discussion) and had pictures all during construction and the finished project...... Jay was wonderful and the roof is great....If you need a roof and you want someone that will discuss everything beforehand, then trust me, go with The Home Wise Pros

It went great. Very responsive despite high volume during hurricane season. If you don't schedule a specific date and time they can get out to you as soon as possible. They take pictures of everything before and after so that you can see progress/Changes. (Which are difficult to see for yourself on a flat roof in the city) When there was a minor leak again after the seal they came back and resealed for free.

Jay, the owner, responded to my Angies List email immediately and we set something up for an estimate within the week. The following week, he came by to show me pictures of previous jobs and explain his company's process. I felt confident hiring them to do the job because they photograph the entire before/during/after. They show you what the wood looks like when they take the old shingles/paper up and number everything so there's no worries about whether they are padding the materials cost. I also liked that he recommended and used architectural shingles which not only look better but are also more durable. He even coordinated to get my job moved up on the calendar because I already had a hole in the roof of my garage and he wanted it done before even more rain came. True professionals that I do not hesitate to recommend.

When they came out go give us an estimate, they were punctual, professional, and answered all my questions . I appreciated that they did not try to convince me to by additional/unnecessary items. During the job, they took pictures to explain the work done and to give me proof for all the materials needed. They did a wonderful job and left our yard clean. The flower garden around the house was intact. I would recommend this company without any hesitation!

We were very happy in the whole process of getting our new roof. The search for a roofer was a very stressful process until Jay Gleason (The Owner) came over to give an estimate. He showed photos of other roofing jobs they had done and explained what they would do for our house and made us feel very comfortable. Mr. Gleason always answered the phone or responded on a very timely basis when we had questions. They crew was very hard working. they showed up when we planned and were polite/nice . They even moved the plants away from the house so they wouldn't get damaged. They did the job in a very timely manner. At the end of the job Mr. Gleason showed pictures throughout the whole process of the work they had done. We knew that they did the work they said they would and that it was a quality job from the photos. Several boards had to be replaced because of rotting and we were shown photos of the damage under our old roof. I would highly recommend home wise pros for a roofing job to my family and friends. If I every need a roof on another house in the future they will be my choice.

Jay and his team were awesome from start to finish. He does more work to get the job done right than almost any contractor I've worked with. The simple fact that he takes pictures to show you all the details of his work makes his approach stand out and above the rest. And the best part? The price is excellent -- much lower than competitors who didn't have the same eye for detail and using the same (or better) materials as competitors who came in with much higher bids. In spite of the days of rain this Spring in Maryland, Jay was able to keep the work to the week he originally promised, and they completed everything -- which included scraping two layers of old, brittle shingles off the roof -- in a single day. I'd gladly, happily recommend him to anyone looking to replace or fix their roof.

A couple of years ago, Home Wise Pros replaced my roof. This spring, a tree branch fell and punched a hole all the way through the roof and crushed part of the roof vent. I called Home Wise Pros and Jay came out the next day to look at the damage, show me photos of what happened, and give me an estimate. He said it would be fixed within 4 days and checked the weather to make sure there was no rain predicted in that time span. Three days later, the problem was repaired and Jay offered to clean debris (leaves and branches) from my roof free of charge. I was very pleased with their original work when the roof was replaced and was delighted with their responsiveness to this problem.

The Home Wise Pros roofing company did a truly exceptional job for us. At our first meeting with Jay, the owner, we told him we wanted a company that would replace the roof in the same way they would if it were their own home. He said that is exactly how he and his team work. And it was! They delivered superior services at a very fair price. He took extra steps to accommodate our needs. They met all of our requests and then some. They showed up when they said they would and completing the work in one full day as they said they would. There were no surprises. The customer service was first rate and beyond what we expected. Going in, we knew we had some problem areas on the roof, but of course had no idea exactly the extent of problems that might be underneath a couple of layers of old shingles. Home Wise Pros was unique in that they kept us informed throughout the whole process. They documented with photos all the work they did, and any problem areas they encountered and they keep lines of communication open throughout the day. Jay made us feel like we were there. Every few hours we received updates by text with photos documenting the progress and also showing us what they were seeing when they removed the old shingles. Having a visual record of the problems and the solutions gave us great confidence that Jay and all the crew were operating with the highest integrity. We could see for ourselves, without having to be up on the roof, exactly what took place and how the work was progressing. It gave us a great sense of comfort to know exactly what we were getting and paying for and that they were not cutting corners. We returned to our home that evening to find the yard, porch, driveway, etc. completely cleared of all materials and debris, in fact cleaner than we had left it that morning. The roof looked great! Jay used Home Wise Pros pictorial documentation to review the work with us and before leaving made sure all of our questions were answered and that we were fully satisfied. Buying a new roof is one of the larger home improvement expenses we have incurred. We never expected it to be such a positive experience. We are entirely satisfied, and feel that we have received the best possible service at a reasonable price from quality professionals! What an amazing thing to be able to say! Thanks Jay and crew.

Professional, punctual, helpful.

Great working with Home Wise Pros! From estimate to final walk through Jay was very hand on and attentive. It's nice to see an owner who gets dirty. Workers were on time and worked quickly to keep ahead of weather conditions. Safety of workers and homeowners was a priority. Work was documented/photographed step by step and was showed to us at the end. Our neighbors were impressed and scheduled estimates with Jay while they were working on our home! I would recommend Home Wise Pros to everyone!!!

Jay was very responsive to our initial call. He went over what was would be needed to complete the job and he went over a number of shingle choices. Jay explained what the cost to replace the shingles would be and what it would cost per sheet if any of the plywood would need to be replaced. He indicated pictures would be taken that would show how the job progressed step by step.. He said if any plywood needed to be replaced he would be able to show us pictures of the sections that needed to be replaced .We were scheduled quickly and the work was done on the day it was scheduled. The workers showed up as scheduled and went about their work in a very timely manner. Fortunately, none of the plywood needed to be replaced and the work was completed ahead of schedule. Jay showed us the pictures of how the job progressed. They did a very good job in cleaning up the area around the house before leaving. It appeared to be a very professional operation throughout the entire process.

Jay, the owner, did exactly what we asked him to do and exactly what he said he would do. He was prompt in all our dealings from estimate through completion of the job. He was friendly, informative & professional. We are extremely pleased with the results and can't believe it was completed in one day! We will be happy to recommend Home Wise Pros.
