The Home Wise Pros Roofing

Jay Gleason, owner of The Home Wise Pros, came to our home in Crofton, MD on Valentine?s Day 2015; he drove from Mt Airy, MD. He was here for a couple of hours and explained EVERYTHING his company was going to do to replace our roof. Jay is a straight forward guy, (no bait and switch, and no drama). The price he quoted was the price we paid. He asked for a deposit, which we paid at that time. We agreed on a "rough" date of the week of 23 March 2015, weather permitting, and pending approval from our HOA (which we finally got on 21 March 2015). At one point, due to bad weather, our work date had been pushed back into mid-April. However, after I sent Jay a text message about the approval letter from the HOA, he called on Monday, 23 March 2015 to tell us he had an opening in the schedule and asked if he could replace our roof on Tuesday, 24 March 2015. I agreed to that date, and when I got home from work that evening, there was a new roof on my end unit condominium. Jay called me twice on my cell phone while the work was being done to clarify a couple of things. Other than the new roof, I could not tell that any construction had taken place at our home; his crew completely cleaned up all of the debris from the work-site. Jay emailed me over 120 photographs of the work that was being done, as his crew replaced the roof. Jay is the real deal!! He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and he is not a salesman; he is a businessman and a very good one. His company is roofs and only roofs. He does not sub-contract, he has a crew of people working for him. We are very pleased with the work that was done. A relative recommended we use The Home Wise Pros. I recommend you use them for all of your roofing needs.

Our experience with the Home Wise Pros was positive overall. Mr. Gleason, the owner of the company, came out personally to do the estimate and meet with us. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I contacted him a few days after our meeting with some further questions and he responded promptly. The unusually cold and snowy winter delayed our project, but Mr. Gleason was very good about contacting me and letting me know about the delays. As soon as the weather improved they were able to schedule our job. The day of the job Mr. Gleason checked in with us several times. We had planned to be out of the house during the work, but my daughter became ill so I had to bring her home. I contacted Mr. Gleason and he contacted his site supervisor who had the work crew stop their work for a few minutes so that we could enter the home safely. Mr. Gleason was on the work site for some of the time, and he took pictures of all of the bad plywood that they had to replace, so that he could show us later. The work was completed promptly in one day. His crew seemed very professional and they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards. The roof looks very nice. * Just to update, a year later we had some water damage on a bathroom ceiling, and Mr. Gleason came out the day after I called him to check out the roof. He did a thorough inspection of the roof, and even when it became clear that the roof was not the source of the leak, he went above and beyond, going into the attic to help identify the source of the leak, which turned out to be caused by an improperly channelled bathroom fan. He also replaced a pipe fitting on the roof that had been chewed by a squirrel, at no cost. This sort of excellent customer service is hard to come by.

We contacted The Home Wise Pros last year after our roof leaked and we determined the roof itself needed to be completely replaced. Our initial contact was with Jay Gleason, the owner of the company, and he handled all aspects of the transaction himself. The initial price estimate was very competitive (not quite the lowest we received, but very close), but it was Mr. Gleason's professionalism and attention to detail that convinced us to give the job to The Home Wise Pros. The work was originally scheduled for January, but the snow and rain of this past winter resulted in pushing back the date. During this time, Mr. Gleason contacted us regularly to keep us updated on when we could expect to get on the schedule as the weather changed. Once they were ready to begin, the work was done quickly and completed in the time originally estimated. We have two skylights that were originally not scheduled to be replaced, however, while replacing the roof, Mr. Gleason inspected them up close and estimated that they would need to be replaced in the next year or two. He offered to replace them as well for a fair price, so we agreed to add that to the job as well. The total job took one full day and part of a second, and the crew organized things so that we had minimal disruption--we got out of the house early on day 1, went out to dinner and got home a little late that night, and never even saw them. Day 2 they came in after my wife was out of the house for the day and were done wrapping up the job in a few hours. The only mess we had to deal with came from the removal and replacement of the skylights, which we weren't anticipating ahead of time. We haven't had a chance to get out into the yard much (more snow today) but at first glance the yard seems to be totally cleaned up. Overall, we were very pleased with the job. The new roof looks great, the price was competitive with the other estimates we got, and the final bill was exactly as agreed, with additional charges for the skylights and one broken beam that was also repaired. Before final payment, Mr. Gleason provided pictures documenting the process from start to finish, which allowed me to see the damage causing the leaks after the old roof was removed, and to see exactly what was removed, fixed, replaced, etc. The new roof is getting it's first test today, but so far we are very pleased with our decision to use The Home Wise Pros and would recommend them to anyone.

Jay showed up on time to provide us an estimate, was very polite and explained exactly what they would do. They arrived on time on the day of the job, and had the entire roof replaced in one day. The price was exactly what was quoted in the estimate.

The service went fine. The technician was very nice and knowledgeable. I had no problem scheduling the deal.

The Home Wise Pros did an outstanding job replacing my roof. Jay came out to my house to talk about the installation process and provide an estimate. This was NOT one of those lengthy, high-pressure sales pitches like some roofers use. He spent just the right amount of time with me to make sure I understood what the job would cover, what materials he would use, and what the costs would be. He emphasized the transparency of their process and the documentation (photos) that they'll perform throughout the job. We had our roof replaced over the winter so I anticipated that weather could impact the date of service. But the service date ended up being very close to the original estimate. The crew arrived promptly and got straight to work. The job ended up requiring two days because there simply weren't enough daylight hours to finish up in one. Jay provided regular updates throughout the job so I knew what to expect. Jay was also responsive to any concerns I had throughout the process. After one of our phone calls, he paid an additional visit to my house during the installation to make sure I was comfortable with the job and would be happy with the result. The quality of the job seems to be fantastic. The shingles we selected were a high quality architectural variety from CertainTeed. Ice and water shielding was installed in every eve and valley. New pipe collars were installed around all the stand pipes, and the stand pipes were painted to blend into the new roof color. They snapped lines on the new underlayment to make double sure the shingle layers were straight. They installed step flashing where our garage roof meets the house. A singled ridge vent was installed and they took the time to leave a setback from the edges of the roof. In the end, we are very pleased with the roof that the Home Wise Pros installed. The process was extremely pleasant from beginning to end. I would highly recommend them.

Home Wise Pros did an excellent job in replacing my roof. The work was done within the time frame they specified. Attention to detail was exceptional. They used ice and water shield in all of the valleys as well as on the roof edges. They snapped chalk lines on the roofing paper rather than rely on lines on the paper. As a result, shingle lines were straight. They took 200 photographs as the job progressed so that I could see everything that was done. Finally, the price was fair, less than half what other contractors bid. I would recommend Home Wise Pros.

Jay was professional and very quick to respond to our request for a quote. He kept us up to date on when the roof would be replaced and called beforehand to make sure we were ready (as well as reminded us to put a tarp on the kitchen floor in preparation for the skylight replacement). We left for work in the morning and when we came home, our roof was completed and our yard was clean. Afterwards, Jay reviewed the work of the day by showing us photos taken throughout the day. We had a great experience and would recommend using the Home Wise Pros for your roofing needs.

This was one of my favorite home improvement projects due to the ease of working with Jay and his crew. He gave us a competitive price to all the other companies we received quotes from, but he had excellent attention to detail and oversaw the project himself. He started the project the week he said he would...(we had a high school graduation we were hosting two weeks later and needed them to be in and out) They completed the project in the time Jay said they would. I did not find a single roof nail in my yard. Everyone told me that it wouldn't matter who you hired, there would be a mess in your yard...There really was not. They did an awesome job. Jay came back after the job had been completed to show us all the photos of the roof while the repairs were happening and showed us the plywood that was being replaced and more photos of the completed roof. It was a very complete and professional job. So much so, that two of my neighbors hired him that within a couple of months and had him do theirs as well. Working with Jay and Home Wise Pros was a pleasure. He walked me through the process, making sure I understood each aspect of the roof replacement. I really appreciated the photo documentation of the plank wood replacement as well as photo progress reports during the day of work. At the last minute, we decided to replace the skylight and he handled that curve ball with consummate professionalism. The new roof looks great and Home Wise Pros did the job with minimal disruption.

We used The Home Wise Pros to install a new roof on our single family home. We selected the top 3 roofing companies, based on the highest number of recent A-rated reviews in our area. All 3 companies were competent and offered similar, if not identical, products. The Home Wise Pros won our business on two fronts 1) they beat their competitors on price, and in one case, by a substantial amount and 2) we really liked the fact that the owner, Jay Gleason, was friendly, low pressure and was onsite and personally oversaw installation. The new architectural shingles on our roof look fantastic and are much more aesthetically pleasing then the old 3 tab shingles. High recommended!!

Jay was excellent and very professional from first encounter. The 1st time we called for an estimate we left a message and he returned our call within a couple of hours. Set up a visit for roof evaluation and estimate. Jay was on time and , in fact, always called to let you know that he was enroute. We were so pleased that he was not only punctual but would even call if he thought he were able to arrive alitle earlier.. Jay sat down with us , gave us some information on his background, showed photos of previous roofing jobs. He is definitely not a high pressure salesman but was honest about what he felt needed to be done after touring the area. Our roof was very expansive with steep pitches and he gave the best estimate of several companies we had engaged.. We were impressed not only with his knowledge of the field, but also in his ability to break it down into layman's terms. We had to wait approx. 6 weeks for him to begin the work due to his schedule, but he was able to begin the proposed week. .The actual job took 1 1/2 days more than was anticipated, but that was not a problem. On the 3rd day we were not restricted from coming in or out the house and the workers were efficient, very polite. They cleaned around the yard and garage every evening so that we had no problem moving about. On the 4th and final day they cleaned the entire area so well one would not even suspect such work had just been done, plus we had a beautiful roof... His price included additionally installing 2 new skylights and a flat roof in the front of the house. He showed us photos of before and after from a 500 plus portfolio so we knew what we were paying extra for, ie rotten plywood, etc. The experience was an extremely pleasant one from beginning to end. I would not hesitate recommending this company to the most particular individuals if they are looking for top notch work.

The service and quality and professionalism of this company is top notch. This particular service was done on a rental property and Jay and his crew were fantastic with all communication to the tenants as well as with myself. We don't have a single complaint. Jay even took extra time and materials to significantly reinforce my old skylights that I did not replace at this time, he took excellent photos of the entire job, highlighted and clearly numbered the few pieces of plywood that needed to be replaced, the whole experience was outstanding. It is nice to find someone you can rely on, especially when it is a high dollar project.

Called several folks based on Angie's List's reviews and ratings. Got estimates from several vendors. Ultimately went with The Home Wise Pros which I am very happy about. The owner met with me and went over the estimate and what needed to be done and what didn't, even talked me out of repairs that a previous vendor had suggested. I appreciated the no pressure, informative discussion and his commitment to quality and reputation. As for the work, the work crew showed up on time and were quick and professional. Clean up was fantastic, couldn't even tell anyone had been there besides the new roof and gutters. :) I really liked the pictures of all the work as it was being done and to see why some boards needed replacing (they obviously did). Would definitely recommend them to anyone and have recommended them to family members looking to replace a roof on their house.

Having dealt with many contractors over the years,I think I've experienced every form of high pressure sales gimmick there is. If I had a dollar for every guy who's done the "Let me call my manager" schtick or tried to push me into a sale with some special discount that's only available if I sign on the dotted line right this very instant, I'd have money enough to re-roof the house - and remodel the kitchen. So the first thing that set The Home Wise Pros apart was simply the lack of pressure. The owner made his presentation quickly and efficiently, and did not go into high pressure mode when told that we were only gathering estimates and would make a decision after that was done. No annoying follow-up phone calls, no "We're doing some work on one your neighbor's homes and will have some material left over so we can do your house at a steep discount..." As for the job itself: The crew was on time and the work went quickly. They cleaned up after themselves so efficiently that my wife remarked that our yard looked better than before they started. One feature I was especially impressed by was the gallery of photos taken at every stage of the job, allowing us to see exactly what was done on our roof, Having major work done on your home will never be "fun." But this was about as seamless and stresss-free as I can imagine. I have nothing but good things to say about our experience with The Home Wise Pros. I would hire this company again in an instant.

Met with a few potential companies based on reviews on Angie's List. During this process, Jay was happy to answer my questions even those based on the evaluation of another company. He was extremely straightforward with regards to what I actually needed versus what others may have been trying to sell me. We decided to goes with Home Wise Pro's despite a longer wait in terms of when the work would be performed. Other companies were able to do the work sooner but we preferred to wait as our issues didn't require immediate attention. When it came time to schedule the job, he was willing to accommodate our Thanksgiving plans to perform all work when we were away. The entire installation process was well documented with a couple hundred pictures so it was clear what work was done and why it was performed. Unfortunately, they were unable to obtain the type of wood I had requested due to lack of stock at their supplier. Due to this inconvenience, the cost of the wood was adjusted accordingly and discounted. Overall, we are really happy with the outcome at this point and would recommend him to anyone looking to replace their roof.

Working with Jay Gleason with the Home Wise Pros was an incredibly enjoyable experience from beginning to end. My husband and I are first time home owners, so we approached this process with not a small amount of trepidation. We had a few other estimates, but Jay's was the best. He delivered his initial estimate in our home at our kitchen table, and went through all the details of what his estimate included. He earned our trust by encouraging us to abstain from replacing perfectly good gutters; we got the sense that any work he recommended would be absolutely necessary and not intended to pad his final bill. We initially scheduled the roof for a date that was a bit further in the future than we had hoped, but Jay was great! He was initially hesitant to promise an earlier date that he may need to push back, but the second his schedule opened up he called and offered to move the date back! Due to a steep incline, our roof took about 2.5 days, but Jay was excellent at accommodating our schedules. He also sent us pictures throughout the process, which was very exciting for us. At the end, the clean up was complete, and I mean COMPLETE- we have yet to come across a nail or a scrap of paper. At the end of the project, Jay sat down with us again to go through almost 100 photos taken throughout the project, so that we could see all the work that had been done. And our roof is STUNNING, simply STUNNING. We could not be happier with it. Overall, working with the Home Wise Pros was a wonderful experience, and I would recommend Jay highly for anyone considering

Jay explained the whole process, and was quite patient with me during the estimate process. They simply had the best price and slightly higher quality materials than some of the other roofers we met with. There is a bit of a wait for their services, but they do their best to move you up and fit you in as the weather allows. We were originally scheduled for the first week of December, but with the warm temperatures right before Thanksgiving, they fit us in just in time for the first real snow of the season. They take pictures of everything, so you can see the parts of your roof that were doing poorly, and exactly how much of the wood was replaced (I had 13 sheets). They cleaned up afterwards with magnets, I can't find a single nail on the ground. They even blew the leaves off of my deck and driveway before they started work! Jay was extremely responsive, and called a number of times each day to update me on the progress. Jay invited me to call them back with any questions/issues in the upcoming years. I would use Home Wise again in a heart beat!

They were great and we would definitely use them again. They were very responsive to our request for an estimate and came out two days later to sit down with us and go over their estimate. We got estimates from two other companies and they were in the middle. We chose them because we liked their philosophy, the fact that they photograph and document everything they do, their warranty and ability to transfer the warranty to the next owner. After deciding to go with them, we were able to schedule for the following week as they had a cancellation. We were unsure of colors for shingles so Jay gave us addresses of houses to look at with the three different colors we were considering. We went with Jay's recommendation and are so happy that we did. The work crew came at 7am and were done by 6:30pm. They cleaned everything up and offered to come back out and sweep for nails since it was dark when they were finishing up. Jay came out the next week to sit down with us and go over the process and pictures. We had a very good experience with them and recommend them for anyone else needing work done on their roof.

An onsite visit was quickly made by Jay Gleason. He provided a full explanation of what would be done, providing numerous photos of previous installations. I was impressed by the level of care taken to ensure that roof edges and skylight flashing was done properly, as these are the principal failure sites in poorly done roofing jobs. All the areas around the house were kept clean. Extra work was needed to replace wood around a skylight, causing the project to slow down a bit, but there were no surcharges due to the extra work needed. Jay made multiple site visits and documented the stages with his iPad. Amazingly, you are not paying premium prices for the premium service you get. Roof replacement may seem like a stressful event, but Jay is friendly and trustworthy, with a highly competent staff of roofers, leaving me a happy homeowner with an absolutely outstanding new roof.

We hired Jay Gleason & The Home Wise Pros to replace our old roof ? our home is a split level and while I do not have the exact dimensions, roof surface is likely well over 3000 sq feet. After getting proposal from 5 contractors, all highly rated in Angies List, I thought Jay seemed like to most reliable, honest and competent. It did not hurt that, after I let him know that his price offer was good but slightly above a couple of other proposal I had gotten, he was able to work out a revised price proposal that worked very well for my budget. We had a clear agreement on when the work would start (over a 2-days period), and Jay lived by this agreement. So they started installation of the new roof on November 14, and everything was completed by the evening of November 15. I have been delighted by the quality of the work & overall service provided by Jay and his crew. He has been very attentive for the first to the last minute, very clearly trying is best to provide first class service ? and he succeeded. They installed Certain-Teed Landmark Architecture shingles. He did not try to increase the agreed contract price when he discovered that ice and water protection was previously installed in the entire roof (that has a low pitch) and decided that it was probably safer to do the same for the new roof, although it clearly came at a substantial additional cost to him. The crew was polite, they worked hard to complete the work on time (which they did), cleaning/ordering the work area very well (so well that I told my wife that we should hire them to clean our yard regularly!). We had substantial rain on November 16 evening, and everything seems dry inside the house (which was to be expected), and the roof looks nice on the outside. A great job by a great professional ? I?d definitely use Jay again if I ever need to replace a roof again (which hopefully I won?t since this one should last a good 30 years?).

Jay Gleason personally reviewed the proposal for my roof replacement with me and described everything that he would do to ensure the quality of the work done. He delivered on every promise that he made and I now have a great looking roof that will last for a long time. Jay kept me updated every couple of hours as the work progressed and let me know how things were going. Besides doing a great job on my roof, Jay's crew did an excellent job protecting plants and shrubs around my house from damage and cleaned up all debris from the old roof. Jay also took hundreds of pictures throughout the process, so I could see the quality of the work hidden under the shingles. All the work was done as scheduled. Great job!

Excellent. From the first time we contacted James Gleason the whole thing went smoothly. Started the job on time, finished on time, did exactly what he said they would do and offered to come back and remove the Dish on the side of the house. James "Jay" was superb, he explained everything, gave us all our options and wasn't pushy. We thought the price a little high but from Jay's demeanor we went with it and we're so glad we did. Jay took photos (I think 200+) of the roof as it was being repaired so we could see the rotten wood and other details that are hidden under the shingles. The cost went up approx. $1,500 from the original estimate but again, Jay had explained at our first meeting that that could happen because he didn't know the state of the roof under the shingles. Jay had taken the photos to show us the problem areas so we knew we weren't being ripped off, and we already expected it would be more the the original quote because our roof was in such bad shape. Everything was cleaned up and what contact I had with his workers was pleasant. When the job was finished Jay walked us around the house to make sure everything was as it should be. Fantastic, can't say more than that. We feel we've gotten a great product from someone who will stand by it. Very very satisfied.

Jay Gleason is the total package. He came out to our home and walked us around the entire house and showed us what needed to be done to get our roof back in shape after 26 years. He was very personable and did a great job of explaining everything to us. He also gave us a good price on the job. The day of the job he kept us informed about the status of the job and everything looked great upon our arrival back home with no signs of debris or anything in the yard. After the job, Jay came back out to go over the new roof with questions that I had, which he readily answered and put my concerns to rest. There was one screen that got damaged which Jay gave us money off to get repaired. My only thing to mention would be to add that he charges for the use of credit cards. That wasn't clear to me upon our initial meeting. However, he did give us a better price if we could pay by check instead of credit card. I would recommend him for a roof job.
