Jay and his team arrived at the schedule time and did a fine job. There were professional, prompt and competent. Jay was here during most of the job. He took lots of pictures of the roof showing rotting wood and the overall condition of the roof. We were pleased and felt they did a fine job.

Rain that was blown into my faux chimney and down into my basement made me suspect that it was time to replace my roof. I ended up getting four bids?three from contractors that didn?t impress me for one reason or another. One was for a low price but didn?t include much, one was far too cheap, and another ?bid? was a four-hour, scripted, high-pressure, high-cost sales presentation. I?m glad I didn?t stop with just three bids. Number 4 was Jay Gleason of The Home Wise Pros?and I knew within just a few minutes of meeting Jay that he was my roofer! Have you ever noticed that sometimes, a professional relationship just ?clicks?? That was the case with Jay, a real straight-shooter who actually cares about his customers and is more than willing to do what it takes to make sure everything is right, always. As my roof was over 20 years old, it wasn?t in good shape. The replacement job had to wait for a break in the rainy weather. Jay kept me informed of everything from the estimate on, through the scheduling and finally through the replacement, which was accomplished in one day. One thing I really appreciate is that what was recommended was what I really needed, no more, no less. Another thing I appreciated was the fact that the crew cleaned up everything before they left ? not one nail, not one old shingle was left behind. I arrived home late from work that day and everything was completely clean! And my new roof looks great; it makes my house look a lot younger. The follow-up visit from Jay after the installation was great and he answered all my questions and showed me the pictures of the work-in-progress. My experience with The Home Wise Pros could not have been more satisfying. I don?t offer up recommendations lightly, but in this case it is more than justified. The professionalism, the quality of the workmanship, the attention to detail, the great service -- and those most important qualities, honesty and integrity -- all add up to an excellent choice. If you?re surfing around Angie?s List trying to decide on a roofer, take heart and take it from my experience: there are some good professionals out there doing business, you just have to find them. I?m glad I did.

He is very detail oriented, knowledgeable and is very personable. He was very kind and thoughtful in helping me with my HOA. Customer satisfaction is very important to him.

Jay provides great service from the time he initially meets with you to do an estimate until the job is complete. He scheduled us for the roofing job to take place 2 weeks later. However, it rained during that week and he kept us up to date on the impact to the schedule and when he would be coming. He also meets with you after the job is done to make sure you are satisfied, tell you about the work that was completed and shows you pictures of the work as it was being done. His crew arrived very early on the appointed day and they finished in one incredibly hot day. They were at our house from 7:00AM until 8:00PM to complete everything including cleanup. The cleanup had our yard looking even better than when they started and there was not a single piece of debris anywhere on our property. Jay is very professional and takes pride in his work and you will not be disappointed!

Our house was built in 1976 and the shingles replaced in 1996 so we figured it was time for new shingles. We got estimates from three of the top rated roofers on Angie's list. The Home Wise Pros estimate was not only $5K less than the estimates from the other two, but Jay Gleason, the owner of the company, took the time to convince us that he would do a high quality job. While we originally expected the new roof to be installed in mid-July, it was actually installed on June 15. We have a single story rambler so the roof is rather large. The 5 person roofing crew showed up about 7:30 am and finished up about 7:30 pm, then returned on June 17 to re-roof the tool shed. Jay spent the entire day documenting what was done with photos and sharing them with us. He even had a drone so we got a "bird's eye" view of the work actually being performed on the roof. as it turned out over the 39 years the roof was up about 18 plywood sheets had incurred water damage and had to be replaced - Home Wise not only replaced the shingles, they took the existing roof down to the rafters and rebuilt it as necessary, and showed us the evidence - both photos and actual plywood sheets - to provide proof of the necessity of their work. We are very satisfied with the work Home Wise performed and recommend them not only for the cost of their service but for the quality of the work as well.

We were really impressed with all aspects of the Home Wise Pros. Jay was outstanding to work with in terms of meeting with us, letting us know our options, keeping us apprised of schedule changes due to rain, rescheduling in an extremely timely way, and making sure we were happy with the work being done. The roof was installed in one day, and the team that did the gutters came the next day and installed them in one day. (Hottest day of the summer so far!) The workmanship is outstanding, we're very happy with all aspects. Really grateful for their attention to detail. For example, a couple old shingles hit the sidewalk in front of our house, leaving a small spray of black tar. I noticed this when I got home that night, and mentioned this to Jay to ask how I could take it off. He sent someone the next day to use some special remover and took care of it. We highly recommend this company, our best experience with Angie's List so far.

Everything went really well. They got the job done in 1 day. They did a thorough clean up. We were very pleased with the overall work.

On my last major home project, I interviewed four contractors. It was too much. I was overwhelmed by too many variables to be able to make an informed decision, plus, I had to tell three seemingly very nice people that I wasn't going to hire them. When I decided that it was time to replace my roof, I decided to simplify. I contacted two highly rated roofing companies from Angie?s List that had done business in my area and asked for estimates. My first interview was with Mr. James Gleason, owner of The Home Wise Pros. He struck me as being straightforward and was willing to answer all my questions. When he looked at my roof, he pointed out possible problem areas and areas where the original builders had skimped (for example, the ridge vent extended over only about half the length of the roof). He explained what he would do and why he thought he was the best person for the job. I liked the fact that he has his roofers take pictures during the job so that he can later show them to the homeowner. He gave me a simple estimate: a fixed price + a set price for every sheet of plywood that needed to replaced. The second contractor I interviewed did not impress me as much. For one thing, he showed up an hour early for the appointment without calling me first. After examining the roof, he gave me three estimates, with the only differences mentioned being the length of warranties for the shingles and labor. Based on this information, he seemed to be offering a substantially better deal. I decided to go with the second contractor, since the company was also highly rated on Angie's LIst. When I informed Mr. Gleason that I was going with another contractor, this is what he said: "The most important thing is that the customer is happy. Good luck and call me if you have any questions." I was very impressed with both his attitude and his courtesy. When I talked with the other contractor to finalize details, I asked a few more questions about the way they would be doing the work. It turned out that he had failed to tell me what I considered to be important information: while during our meeting he had only mentioned one (premium) brand of shingles, the lower estimate that I was planning to go with used a different brand of shingles that has very unfavorable reviews online. Once I compared the estimates again based on the same materials, Mr. Gleason's estimate was actually about $500 less. I do not know if the second contractor neglected to tell me the all the differences in the different estimates on purpose or not. I do know that it disqualified my hiring him. Whether deliberate or not, leaving out crucial information is unacceptable to me. I contacted Mr. Gleason again and told him that I had changed my mind and wanted his company to replace my roof. He agreed and scheduled a week in which he would do the job, depending on the weather. The actual job was anticlimactic. Mr. Gleason informed me the day before that they would replace my roof the next day (this was within the previously agreed time window). The roofing crew about 8:30 am and immediately started work. I was asked to stay inside for my own protection (and insurance purposes), but Mr. Gleason took me outside twice so that I could see how the job was progressing and to show me the plywood that needed to be replaced. I was very impressed by the speed and skill of Mr. Gleason?s crew. They removed the old shingles and sheathing from my one story ranch house and installed ice and water protection around the chimney, roof valleys, and pipes. They put on the new sheathing and shingles, and increased the length of the ridge vent. They also installed new pipe collars around the vent pipes and painted the pipes to blend with the roof. Mr. Gleason had originally scheduled two days for the job, but luckily, they only had to replace two pieces of plywood and were able to complete the job in one. After completing the roof, they removed debris from the area. Since then, I have found only a few tiny pieces of sheathing and one nail, which I consider excellent. In a major home project such as this, hiring the right contractor is the most important task for the homeowner. I feel happy that I (eventually) ended up picking Mr. Gleason and would recommend his company without reservation.

Very professional team. We were always kept in the loop in the scheduling and construction phases. We received several phone calls a day and visits from the manager. The team worked 12 hour days to get the job done. Very friendly crew. Provided us photos every step of the way over the 3 day job. The work quality appears to be top notch, and the clean-up after the job left our yard better than before :-) I would highly recommend Home Wise.

Let me preface this with sharing that I'm a licensed architect and if I'm going to drop a large sum of money on something like this I'm going to be sure to do my homework. First, if you're going to get a roof done you'll have better luck with the final product by getting an actual contractor that just does roofs. If you hire a company that is a "do it all" company they generally cost a great deal more because they are just going to hire a subcontractor to do the work and then charge you 10% to manage them. If you end up having issues with anything after the work is complete the company that would really be held responsible is the subcontractor whom you do not have an actual written contract directly with. So getting them out to fix anything will be a huge hassle and waste of time because you'll have to go through the contractor who would then contact them and then they call you back to schedule something, then back to them.... a lot of time is wasted. I researched a lot online before calling any of the companies and arranging interviews. I interviewed 6 different roofing companies that were all ranked fairly high on a verity of sites, including this one. As far as costs go, Homewise Pros came in about midrange. I created a 20 item check sheet that I used to rank each of the companies that compared their costs, how they presented themselves, and even the time they wasted of mine giving me their spiel and playing with my dog. Almost every single one will pressure you to SIGN NOW! Also before scheduling with you they will ask over the phone if you are married or if there is any other decision maker that should be there so they can be sure you can't say "well I need to talk to my wife/husband first." Those companies will all do the same thing. Sit down go through their spiel, pressure you into signing a contract now, when you don't they'll make a "ONE TIME OFFER".... ONLY if you sign today. If they can offer you such a "great one time offer" today then they should be able to do so tomorrow after you have done your homework. Homewise Pros did not pull this crap. He was strait to the point. Homewise Pros was by far the best in every category I was ranking the companies on except they just weren't the cheapest, which isn't always a bad thing. I gave them a 5 in this category mainly because. in my experience if you pick someone that is the cheapest then they probably don't pay their employees very well and cut corners. If they don't pay their employees well then their employees are less likely to care about the company and the craftsmanship it takes to do what they do. Never go with the cheapest and be careful of the guys out there trying to sell you something you don't need, like this special soffit vent that ONLY THEY sell... blah blah blah. The truth is, almost every single one is selling and installing the same thing. Lifetime warranties are also pretty much worthless because nothing lasts forever and there are all kinds of special clauses they don't tell you about, plus you'll probably end up moving anyway and the warranty is with the product very rarely with the installer, however with Homewise it's also with the installation. In general the salesmen don't know squat about roofing or installing them and if you ask any intelligent questions they aren't going to know the answers. However, Homewise Pros does. They charged me about $700 to install the new skylights. They ordered and paid for the skylights without adding any additional costs to them. Usually a contractor would add 10% for profit for materials. As a matter of fact Power Home Remodeling first told me my roof would cost $21,707 if I don't sign NOW! then they went down to $19,500 (but only if i SIGNED TODAY) then their final price was $18,000... but ONLY TODAY. Power did the same thing with windows. As you can tell even at their BEST price Power was almost 2 times more expensive than Homewise Pros and I didn't even ask them to replace the skylights with that quote! The Homewise team showed up around 8am and left around 7:30pm. The only person I ever dealt with was the owner. He was at the project site for well over 75% of the time. He texted me pictures periodically throughout the day to show me where they were as far as work completion. He documented everything they did with pictures to show me I was getting what I paid for. He also chalks lines to make sure the shingles are installed perfectly strait, very few contractors do this anymore. None of his workers came inside the house at any time. He also asked that if for some reason anyone had to come or go from the house to let him know so he could stop work. Safety was clearly a high priority for them and much appreciated. Again, showing that they take care of their employees as well. The owner was very professional and his demeanor towards his employees was very respectful. After everything was completed they did an amazing job cleaning up and left my yard actually looking better than it did when they arrived. The next day I walked around and looked at everything and the only issues I had were cosmetic probably because of my 20 years of serving in the Army and needing everything to be "dress right dress!" So I sent him a message and pictures of the trim I wanted fixed and he and one of his guys came over on the next day which was a Sunday and took care of them, no questions asked. I can assure you that given my track record dealing with other contractors throughout my life, Homewise Pros was by far the best. There is no doubt if you want it done right the first time you will find that quality with them.

Home Wise Pros has a perfect performance record and that is why I selected it to replace my roof. It promises a lot and delivers. The firm followed through with every aspect of its work plan to my complete satisfaction. It is rare to find a contractor that more than meets its own promises and my expectations, but Home Wise Pros did it.

In April of 2015, we decided it was time to have our roof replaced. We contacted numerous companies whom we found on Angie's List, and we were most impressed with Mr. Jay Gleason, who owns the Home Wise Pros. He was very responsive, punctual, honest, and knowledgeable about all aspects of roofing. He didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need (we had some contractors try to sell us ventilation systems.) He was very reasonably priced, and we liked the fact that he was a Certified CertainTeed Installer. Once we decided to sign the contract with Mr. Gleason he was able to arrange for our roof to be replaced in a matter of days. We signed the contract on Wed. April the 29th and arranged to have our new roof installed on Sat. May the 2nd. We were able to choose very attractive, architectural style, 30-year, asphalt Certainteed Landmark shingles (this is a top brand) with a limited lifetime warranty. Also, Mr. Gleason offers a ten-year warranty on labor (many contractors only offered five years.) We also liked Home Wise Pros because they are fully licensed and insured. Another aspect my husband and I like about Mr. Gleason and Home Wise Pros is that he takes pictures of the entire roofing process so that you, as a consumer, can be aware of what your roof looked like prior to installation, during installation, and after installation. This is nice because until they remove the old shingles you don't know how much of the roof decking has gone bad and how much will need to be replaced. His price for replacing bad roof decking is very reasonable by the way. The pictures also show the products and shingles that are being used on your roof so that you can be assured that what you ordered is what is being used. This information is helpful to know because during the roofing installation you will have no idea as to what is really happening on your roof as #1 you can't be up there with them and #2 you either have stay indoors for the duration of the installation or you have to be out of the house during the installation. On the day of our installation, we chose to be out of the house during the day. Mr. Gleason stayed with his workmen throughout the installation and called us a couple of times during the day to update us on the process. He also sent us pictures on our phones to show the various stages of the roofing process. Our contract included Ice and Water on eaves, valleys, and around roof penetrations, Shingled Ridge Vents, the replacement of Pipe Collars, the use of Roofing Paper, installation of a White Drip Edge, replacing the Chimney Flashing, cleaning the gutters, and replacing bad roof decking. We also had to have two fans removed from our old roof. The installation took only one day. When we arrived home later in the day after the job had been completed all of the trash from the roof, yard and gutters had been removed, and all of the debris had been hauled away. We were also told they used magnets to make sure there were no remaining nails in the yard, and they used tarps to protect flowers and the landscape. Overall, Mr. Gleason was a pleasure to work with, and he is very professional. We highly recommend his services.

Home Wise Pros did an excellent job from the estimate through the exit review. Mr. Jay Gleason, owner, met with my wife and I and went through the estimate that he had prepared in advance of us meeting (I believed he used a satellite photo of the roof) plus an agreed upon inspection of the roof before we met for the estimate. He was well organized, went through the process that they would use, showed pictures from previous jobs and help us make a judicious choice in the type and color of the shingle. I have to admit I almost did not choose Home Wise Pros because their price seemed too good to be true. Several of my neighbors had their roofs done the previous year with a local Eldersburg contractor. One house was larger than mine the other smaller. Their cost to have their roof done with verify similar architectural style shingles was $5,000-$6,000 higher. Mr. Gleason impressed me as a man of his word and so we agreed to have them do the work. As agreed upon, Mr. Gleason and I had a telephone conversation the night before the work was to start to remind us of the process. The team showed up on time and completed roofing removal and installation in one day. Throughout the course of the day Mr. Gleason would text me pictures of the various stages and sections of the roofing removal and installation. So I had a good idea, even though not at home, how the work was proceeding. Mr. Gleason also went out of his way to ensure that my wife could safely enter the house during the middle of the construction work which was extremely important to her. The Home Wise Pros did an excellent job of putting down tarps to catch and errant debris as well as moved deck future out the way to ensure that it would not be damaged. The team did an excellent job in installing the new roof and other activities such as painting the vent pipes, installing new vent pipe collars, installing new flashing, making some minor repairs to wood beneath windows that joined into the rubber flashing, cleaning out the gutters and resetting the gutter nails. We are thrilled with the work that was done by Home Wise Pros. Mr. Gleason met with us after completing the roof and we reviewed the 168 pictures that he took during the roofing removal and reinstallation. It was a great way for him to point out various aspects of the work that was accomplished and a great way to illustrate old vs. new. So if you need to get a roof done, I highly recommend Home Wise Pros.

I had a leak on my roof and called a guy named Jay Gleason, he is the owner to come and check it. I contacted him with an email at 9:30 in the evening and by 10 o'clock the following morning he had already been on the top of my roof to check it, with photos. He determined it wasn't the roof, it was the dormer that was leaking. It was incredible and he actually took photos to show that it wasn't the roof but the dormer. He called me and he was the least expensive. I couldn't be happier. He was professional and they were perfect. They showed up on time and watched them shut the electricity off. They got it done and cleaned the place up perfectly. The roof looks like a million bucks. They started at seven and ended at seven. They took the old one off and made some repairs and put a new one on.

We selected Jay Gleason and his company, Home Wise Pros, because of the extraordinary number of positive reviews they receive on Angie's list and elsewhere. Our expectations were very high and we were not disappointed; the experience was excellent in every way. Jay specializes in replacing roofs and knows the area inside and out. He is a thorough professional, a good communicator, and is personable and polite. Jay was on site for most of job and kept us apprised at every step of the way. His price was very fair. He was flexible and gave us options where appropriate. He documented the entire project with hundreds of photographs. He is deeply committed to customer satisfaction. His crew was outstanding ? industrious, polite and meticulous in every aspect of the job. The cleanup after the multi-day job was excellent and the roof looks terrific. We highly recommend Jay and Home Wise Pros, without qualification. We can?t imagine that anyone does it better.

After reviewing 5 estimates from various roofing companies, Jay Gleason (Home Wise Pros) won us over by far! His price (very reasonable) and professionalism gets an A+! He took an incredible amount of time explaining the job that was to be done by answering questions and providing detailed pictures. His professionalism and patience far exceeded all of the other companies. He assured us that he is at every job and this really made us feel at ease. On the day of the install, he and his crew arrived at 7:00am (on time) and were able to complete our entire roof the same day including the new plywood (the roof was over 40 years old). He communicated with us during the process to provide a status update. He also fixed a rafter and installed down sprouts without charging extra. He provided pictures once the job was complete. He definitely went the extra mile which is truly amazing! Also, he did a thorough cleaning job removing all of the debris. Our roof is beautiful and makes our home look much nicer. If you are looking for a roofer to replace your roof, I highly recommend the Home Wise Pros. Jay, the owner, was always in contact with me throughout the entire process by phone and via text. I never felt like I was in the dark about anything. His estimate was the best one we had received, he stuck right to the estimate, and provided detailed pictures of the entire ordeal. All damage to the prior roof was documented extensively so that I would be able to review what has been done at my leisure. Additionally, they provided the best estimate compared with other local companies. You just can't get better than that! I have extensive gardens surrounding approximately 50% of my house, and amazingly there was absolutely no damage done to any of the plants, including the tulips, which are currently blooming. They also left no debris, trust me I looked! Additionally, Jay and his crew were just really nice people. I will be referring The Home Wise Pros to all of my friends and family. Jay is very "old school" about customer service and that plus the excellent workmanship make his company one of the best I have found in a very long time. I just couldn't be happier!

Jay Gleason is very professional. Says what he will do and actually does it. No tricks or gimmicks. Crew did a great job. Clean up is fine. No surprises. Only 1 day with new roof but looks good so far. Highly recommend so far.

I am originally from Switzerland. My Expectations are: High Quality Workmanship, Precision Workmanship, High Quality Materials, Timely Execution of Entire Task, Competitive Pricing. I engaged six (6) Roofing companies to provide me with Information and pricing for a New Roof and two (2) New Skylights. Five (5) Roofers were from Angie's List, one (1) Roofer was the Original Roofer of 30 years ago. This was a very time consuming process. Three(3) Roofers were very competitive and it came down to quality Workmanship, References, and if Roofing was their only business. I was not interested in people Remodeling Kitchens, Building additions to a house and Roofing. A new Roof is what I needed, so I chose a Roofer that only does Roofs. Two (2) Roofers were out of their mind cost wise and not using better products. One (1) Roofer was using inferior products and left the door open for additional charges to the customer later on. OUTSTANDING describes the QUALITY work carried out by Home Wise Pros. The Owner Mr. Jay Gleason supervised the entire process. Always courteous, always on time. Always firm. He will do what he says he will do. He will not mislead you. Very honest. Timely: only 1.5 days with a full crew...Home Wise does only Roofs...they are efficient and good at it. Clean Up: Home Wise Pros takes every precaution not to damage your slate, brick work and surrounding area to your house. Clean up included a magnet to pick up any unseen nails to prevent you having a flat tire. Home Wiese Pros removed two (2) layers of old Shingles, replaced two sheets of Plywood, and installed a 40 year Roof Shingle. In conclusion, during the last thirty years I have engaged many contractors that have made lots of promises, that they never delivered on. It is nice to know, that there are companies like The Home Wise Pros, that actually carry out all of their promises without compromise.

We had a terrific experience having a roof installed by Jay Gleason and Home Wise Pros. We had 4 estimates from other vendors but were most impressed by Jay's presentation, references, rating, processes and responsiveness. He guided us through options and was available for questions. They arrived as scheduled and did an excellent job and clean up. Mr Gleason was very knowledgable and answered and advised on other topics such as chimney and masonry. We highly recommend him in our neighborhood and to all Angie's List members. It's no fun spending money of items like a roof, so it sure helps to have a job well done!

From the time Jay Gleason arrived at our home to give us an estimate to the completion after the gutters had been installed- we knew we could trust him and he would give us an exceptional roofing job. There was never a moment when we doubted our first impressions. He was involved with every step of the process, his prices were very competitive, his attention to detail was exemplary and his crew did an outstanding job. We were out of town when the job was done and he sent pictures the whole day to keep us apprised of the progress. We highly recommend him to anyone who needs a roof! THANKS JAY!!!!

Mr. Gleason was very professional and personable. He was knowledgeable and explained in detail all of the steps in the process without making me feel inferior. I had a cedar shake roof that was being replaced with asphalt. Initially Mr. Gleason allowed for two days to take down and replace the roof due to the unpredictability of wood roofs but his crew was so efficient that they were able to accomplish the job in one day. There was quite a mess, as expected but you could hardly tell that they were there when the job was complete. During the process Mr. Gleason kept me up to date on the progress, which included advising how many roof boards were damaged and would have to be replaced, along with picture proof. As roof replacements go, this was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend him happily.

The Home Wise Pros are great to work with. Jay was flexible in dealing with our scheduling issues, and took the time to walk through each part of the proposed work, including materials. He also took pictures during the job to show us how things went. Everything was done perfectly, efficiently, and we are happy with all of the work.

Here is a quick note just to say thanks to Jay and his crew for the great job they did replacing my roof. The team which was led by Elmer, promptly arrived on time right around 8 a.m. and completed the job around 5:30 p.m. I was home during the work and observed first hand all of the debris that resulted from the job. The team did a great job covering the deck and landscaping prior to starting the work. They placed most of the debris directly into the trailer that they brought with them and also cleaned as they went along. The clean up was so thorough at the end, that I hardly noticed any evidence of their presence except for the beautiful roof they left behind. It is hard to get too excited about a roof replacement, but the roof really looks good. Deciding to use the architectural shingle was a great choice. Jay came by midday to ensure all was going well. He took the opportunity to show me the team's progress and addressed any concerns I had. Jay came back once the team completed the job to inspect their work and to show me some 200 photos they took while completing the job. The photos provided a great perspective of what the job entailed and highlighted every piece of bad wood that had to be replaced. All in all, the job went very well and Jay's team was very professional. There were no surprises as I paid the price that was quoted and the only additional costs included the cost to replace the bad wood which had been discussed when I signed the contract. The overall cost was comparable if not less expensive than many of the other estimates I received. The peace of mind of having a roof I won't have to worry about for years to come . . . "priceless."

Home Wise Pros was incredible from beginning to end. First, Jay came out to give us an estimate a couple of months ago. When he arrived, we still had another estimator who ran long. Jay patiently waited for the other company to finish. Second, the snow this season kept pushing back the install date. Between my wife and I always having a rotating schedule, it was hard for Jay to give us a date that was good for us - but he kept trying and was very patient. In the end, the roof and gutters turned out perfectly. There was little sign that anyone had even been here. The roof was completed on Wednesday and the team came back on Friday to do the gutters. No mess in the yard and nothing disturbed around the house. I would recommend Jay's team to my closest friends and family and promise them that they would not be disappointed.
