After many days of rain and waiting on the roof to get put on prior to putting our house on the market, Scates came out to replace our roof and 2 gable vents. Overall, the job was done ok but anytime I contacted the office about when we could expect them out the woman seemed put off, frazzled, and told me "well I told your husband if it rains, you get pushed a day back." It would have been nice for them to reach out to us rather than for us to constantly be calling them especially when trying to show a house. Also, when I was outside after the work was done, many of the workers were just laying in my yard...I thought it was odd since they had completed the job. Some nails and debris from the gable vents were still left but I didn't expect them to get every last piece. Overall, they were just OK to work with. The owner was nice though.

They did an excellent job! We met with the owners a couple of times prior to the work being performed so that we could get very detailed estimates with all options available to us. On the scheduled day, their roofing team showed up early, ready to work, and got the roof replacement done in a single day, including the framing of the skylights. They also coordinated with the interior contractors to make sure all of the inside work related to the skylights was done right. Our entire experience was excellent from start to finish.

Showed up on time and completed work within one day. Quality of work was poor. Shingles started coming off immediately and still falling off 10 years later. Flashing and trim work not well done. Did not adequately respond to our complaints about their workmanship.

I have no issues with quality of work, punctuality, or anything other than the cleanup. There were some materials left behind as well as numerous nails. One standout compliment, the sales rep came to my house several times to work with me, the HOA and our neighbors on resolving issues with the jump wall and gutters. He was great in determining what needed to be done after multiple changes. The new roof is great, the jump wall looks good and the gutters are distributing water more evenly to all yards, so I am happy.

This company it top notch. They are professional, responsive, fair and very trustworthy. I feel comfortable working with them and they never dissapoint. Scates repaired a hole in my roof last summer and they were prompt, quick, clean and professional. The administrative representative is very organized; I always get an email estimate followed by formal correspondence in the mail. They are friendly and accommodating in terms of how they accept payment, and they are careful and thourough. I don't hesistate to contact them for future work which is why I've contracted them to replace my whole roof and skylights this winter. Thank you Scates!

It went very good. They were cheaper than the other estimates. They did it when they said they were going to and in one day. They also cleaned up after they were done.

The whole process took two long days for Scates personnel to complete the work, from sunrise to sunset. All work items had been well-defined in the contract and all work was done well. Clean-up was very good. The home owner was required to provide access for the roofing job. In my case I had to remove some old trees to provide this access. Removal of these trees was beneficial to the new roofing when trees can possibly rub against the roofing. Mr. Scates promptly and personally addressed a minor concern I had about step flashing.

There were no problems.

FOR WHATEVER REASON, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO FIND A COMPANY WILLING TO MAKE ROOF REPAIRS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. SUPERIOR CONTRACTING CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEMS OF A LEAKING ROOF AND SKYLIGHT. THE WORK WAS PERFORMED IN A TIMELY FASHION AND TO OUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION.
