One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating

This service company was great! From the initial phone call to get service to John the service person who was a sweetheart. I would recommend the company and already have plans to use the to maintain by units. Nothing but knowledge and professionalism.

Overall it was what i wanted. The furnace hadn't been checked in a while and i' m comfortable that the check-up was detailed and well done.

For what i contracted for, they completed the task

I hired this company because they offered through Angies list a special price for my annual heating/ furnace cleaning and check-up ($69.00). The man that came was very nice BUT he spent more time "doing his job" trying to sell me a contract to do my annual HVAC service at a cost of $199.00 (which I declined) then actually servicing my furnace. He then said everything checked out fine and then proceeded to sell me a 3month filter for $15.00. I mentioned to him that I had heard a banging in my furnace but that it was not constant and I could not make it happen for him to hear. He did not know what the noise could be. Five days later, my furnace stopped working and I called another HVAC contractor (friend referral) who came and fixed the problem (the ignighter failed). Just before these men left they asked me when I had last had my furnace cleaned ( I had NOT mentioned that this had just been done). When I told them it had only been days before they were surprised and appalled as they said that the furnace has barely been touched and that they had cleaned it throughly. I would never use this company again as they cheated me out of $69.00 for a service which was not peformed!!!

Technician was arrogant/I know it all he said he was only to check system and not to do any work and that we had to pay $199.00 for membership before he fixed anything. He finally did the work.

The repairman arrived on time, was courteous, wore booties and did a thorough job.

Joey was on time and completed a thorough inspection of our heat pump and associated systems and appliances.

Had our annual furnace check-up, part of the $199 we pay for an annual "Comfort Club" membership that gets an AC check-up in the spring and a furnace inspection in the fall as we bought furnace/AC system from One Hour several years ago. Have always liked their techs, who are among the most professional service people that we have had come through our house. This time was no exception - had a very pleasant new employee, Chris, do our annual furnace inspection. No problems found; he did a thorough check and replaced a humidifier pad. These guys are very professional and though One Hour isn't cheap, they are reasonable for the thorough quality of service - and the ability to get them to come on short notice - that they provide. Very highly recommended.

Our furnace died and the company was able to schedule the replacement to be installed the next week. The guys were suppose to arrive between 8am-10am, they arrived at about 8:30 and quickly got to work. Both were very professional and they kept the house clean. They had covers on their shoes and once they started working they laid down drop cloths down so there was no clean after wards. We had the inside and outside units replaced, so they were in and out of the house. When they left there was no signs any work was completed, except a shiny new unit. The job was completed at about 2 pm as expected. It was a great experience all around for an emergency replacement.

One Hour has always been very quick to respond to any issues I have had with the AC/Heating unit. I do have issues with the actual unit that was installed (by them). It has to be serviced several times a year (I do have a contract with them) for both AC and heating. I regularly have the unit checked out before the seasons change in hopes to prevent any issues, but I continually do.

The tech came the same day I called to provide an estimate. He had to call back to the office for help preparing the estimate. I could not get a labor/material breakdown of the estimate - One Hour offers only fixed price repairs. Mine was "level 5", the most expensive. I agreed, hoping to get the repair completed the same day. He was not able to do the repair that day. It was 3 pm. I was charged $49.99 for this visit. Two techs came the next day. They started by suggesting I replace the system rather than the agreed repair. Replacing would have involved yet another estimate and another day without A/C. This was feeling like a shakedown. The time to suggest replacement was during the first estimate. I insisted on repair. It took 2 hours to fix the original problem - replacing the pipe, pressure testing the system, and recharging with freon. I was hopeful that cool air would be just around the corner - the house was up to 86 degrees inside. It was not to be. It took an additional 6 hours for them to get the system functional again. The compressor contactor would not activate. It was painful to watch the troubleshooting. It took them some time to figure out that they had damaged the contactor control wires in the process of replacing the pipe. I don't know if it was melted by their torch, or shorted when pinched against a sharp piece of aluminum siding. They replaced the wire. Still no contactor activity. Calls to the office for advice. Next conclusion - it must be the contactor. There was no low voltage at the contactor, but it was replaced anyway. The system still would not function. Next conclusion - the low voltage wiring inthe house must be wrong. disconnect wires at the thermostat and air handler to check. All is well. Hmmm. More calls to the office for advice. Revelation! there is a high pressure reset switch near the compressor - it may have tripped when pressure testing the system with nitrogen. Reset the switch. Wire the system back up. Test. Now the compressor is on, but the air handler wont blow air. The evaporator cois begin to freeze. Frustration all around. Check wiring again. Mistake rewiring. Air handler works again, but not the compressor. Maybe it is the electric company cycling power to the compressor. Call to electric provider - unit has not been cycled for weeks. In the middle of this - my next door neighbor rings the doorbell. Her air conditioner is not working and she wonders if it would be OK if she talks to these guys when they finish my job. I said that was fine, but really could not recommend them based on what I was seeing. More calls to office for advice. More trips in/out of the house. By the way, the little yellow booties are nice, but once the tech wears them outside in the dirt and comes back in the house with them on - the good intention is lost. Inside temperature is now 89 degrees. Next conclusion - the 24 volt transformer needs to be replaced. SUCCESS!!! When asked how a transformer goes bad, the tech said they don't go bad unless you short circuit them... Time to pay the bill. In addition to the 'fixed' price of $1,031for the repair, the tech wanted to charge an additional $265 for the transformer. He agreed that the contactor did not need to be replaced and was 'giving' it to me. Yes, he was giving it to me. I refused to pay any additional charges because I had agreed to a fixed price repair. The tech grudgingly took the extra charge off and took my money. He scribbled on the ticket "No warranty". End of story. I can't recommend these guys for anything. This should have been a very straightforward repair. 2 technicians onsite for 8 hours is ridiculous.

They are prompt, professional and clean up after themselves!

Both times the technicians were prompt & thorough in their explanations & inspections. All maintenance performed was completely covered & the technicians were thoroughly professional & polite.

Our favorite tech, Tommy, came by to check on the unit. He also heard the noise and immediately went for the filter. Apparently, the filter that I replaced was not the right size for the filter frame. I had found some old blue filters and thought they were for this unit left by the previous owner but apparently not. Tommy said that the unit also hums when the filter is dirty or the filter frame was not inserted or aligned property when place back into the unit. Luckily I had one more of the correct filter to use.

They were courteous, were on time and called to let me know they were on the way. They wear shoe covers to not bring dust into the home. Puts tarps over area working with.

Chris ran his tests and authorized our repair; he performed the repair quickly, but did not present the "boom and gloom" scenario often.

They are on Angie's list. I have been using them for a few years now, and I really like them. They come on time. They always put on their booties. They never leave a mess; they are very good at that. They would come out again in the spring and that wouldn't cost me anything. If I have some problems, they will come out and take care of it. I am sure if I shop around, I will find someone cheaper; but I really like them.

They have a good guarantee policy, so something goes wrong they stand by it and even with the work that they did, they came back and corrected it. They seem reliable. We would use them again in the future if necessary.

Tech arrived early and was happy to explain everything he saw. He encouraged us to consider different options and everything made sense. We made an appointment for the next day to learn about furnace replacement options, and we were impressed with the multiple guarantees and protection against dissatisfaction. A relative in the same business was also impressed and confirmed that the price was a great value. Awesome company and the installation was top rate.

The motor had burned up on the gas furnace (around a 7-year-old Carrier). The technician wanted to replace a capacitor to see if it would solve the problem. I had to convince him that the motor had indeed burned up. Then, he went back to the shop and brought a replacement and had it working in no time. A filter from inside the furnace had been left out, so I had to call to see whether it was accidental or on purpose. Compared to other services we've used, the price was very reasonable and the work was completed without delay. The only problem is that the replacement fan is much noisier than the old one. I wouldn't say they were responsible for Carrier's replacement parts, though. There might not be other options.

This company is a joke! It took one month to get a quote and then it was 4 times higher than the next highest HVAC contractor. I had to literally call them over and over, after spending a half day off from work, to meet them for the estimate, to get the estimate. They never indicated they were not interested in doing the job or I would have moved on. I wasted a precisious month, on a time sensitive job, on this company. Don't call them; they don't need your business!

It went great, they even helped remove a wall that was blocking the existing system

They were referred to me by my daughter-in-law because they had worked for her earlier and she was happy with them. They came out, inspected everything and told me how much it is going to cost me and what I can expect out of this. They said they will come back next day and they did come back. They knew what they were doing and I would use them again.
