It worked out well. The service person was very polite, friendly, and did the install very well. I am very happy with the service. I also signed up for a maintenance agreement with them. They got the job done in about 90 minutes. The scheduling was convenient and on time.

My experience turned out great. He explained everything to me in the appointment and even told other advice I may need done on the unit. He worked with me to see if the right amount of air was coming from the vents. He was very nice and even put booties on in my home to not track dirt in.

An egregious error was made during the check-up (the technician did not check the coolant level properly, and consequently, when we turned the system on for the season, no cool air came out) but the company handled it very professionally and refunded what we'd paid. I have no complaint about how it worked out, but I probably won't use them again either.

The salesman called the next morning to say he was busy and would call back the same afternoon to set up an appointment. He never did call. I called the company and asked to speak to the technician. After some time they said he was busy and would I like to leave him a message. I explained my problem and they said some one would call me. This was Friday afternoon. A man (Larry) called on Monday and said he was a part owner, apologized for failure of the employee to call me back. He set-up an appointment for the following Wednesday as I was out of town until Tuesday evening. Larry arrived a little late Wednesday afternoon and stayed for 6! hours, doing a thorough measure of windows and square feet of the house, but mostly chatting to "get acquainted". He was very pleasant but it took most of the time before I could get an estimate. The estimate was very high. He chatted some more and I finally asked him to leave so we could go out to get dinner. I told Larry he could call me Monday morning. He did call and I asked him a couple of questions and told him I was still doing my home work and had not made a decision. I am convinced this company would do an excellent job and was very tempted to accept Larry's offer, but I just can not afford it.
Description of Work: The technician did a thorough check-up of my central air conditioning system. He explained the problems and the approximate cost of repairs. He also suggested I let his company give an estimate of the cost of a new central air conditioning system and discussed some of the options. He said a sales man would call this PM or tomorrow morning to set up an appointment. The technician was excellent.

One Hour Air arrived on time and called ahead of their arrival. Their technician was friendly, professional, and took every care when he entered our home including putting on shoe protectors. There were no hard sells. Instead, the technician provided information on additional services/insurance I could purchase if desired. (Note: there was no pressure to make a decision in the moment). The Technician leveled our a/c unit outside which since buying the home was very off-level. It was worth the $39 just for that! Overall, I would recommend One Hour Air because they do not hard sell, they did a thorough job, and the technician was extremely competent.

Our AC unit went out on one of the hottest days of the year. The HVAC company we had used before (circa 2010) did not have any availability on that day. They scheduled an appointment for the next day and were on time. Things went downhill from there... First the technician asked me how I would feel about replacing the whole system. I told him I would like to see if it could be fixed. It turned out to be a capacitor and I was quoted around $500 to replace. Since this was a friday and I knew there was no way I could get anyone else out for several days I paid the price. It did fix the problem, but it was a less than $100 part and it took him a few minutes to install. Seems like price gouging to me. Too bad since they were decent other than being WAY overpriced!

The appointment went well. What I was not happy about was that they did not contact me after I bought the coupon. About 10 days later I called and had to explain about the coupon to the person on the phone. Only then did he remember. After that everything went great. I scheduled the appointment, received a confirmation call the day prior and the technician called when he was on his way. The inspection revealed what I had already thought, the system was over 30 years old. One thing I really liked was that the tech explained every test before doing it, and then showed me the results as they were happening. When he said my system had a crack and was leaking carbon monoxide I could see what he was telling me. I may have to buy a new system, but he did not pressure me to buy from his company. I scheduled an appointment for a quote and will comparison shop. A big part of choosing the final contractor will be their customer service. This company got off to a rough start, but I was very impressed in the end.

Purchased Angie's List Deal on Monday, March 10. Angie's List website informed me that I would be contacted within two days and the purchase process also allowed me to fill in three dates/time frames as preferred service times. I can't spend much time on the phone during the work day and I was hoping to be able to set up appointed via email communication. Two days later, no contact. On March 13, Thursday, I email the email address that was on the Angie's List purchase. No contact even as of Monday, March 17, a week after initial purchase. March 18, Tuesday, I make time to call. Everything else from this point was a pleasant experience. Representative on phone was courteous, professional, and helpful. Set up a service appointment for March 24, Monday. On Friday, March 21, I receive a call to confirm appointment and to ask if service time frame could be moved up an hour. I agree. Monday, March 24. I receive a call before noon from technician telling me he is on the way. Andrew and Nathan arrive at 12:35 PM for a service appointment frame of 12:00-2:00. Two technicians inspected furnace set-up and advised me on where the humidifier would be best installed. They started work promptly and also informed me of One Hour AC's maintenance plans for furnace/AC check up. Install when smoothly, they verified unit was functioning properly, and showed me how the unit works and how it is controlled. They made a quick sales pitch for a MicroPower Guard active air filter and for a "Ben Walk" through their plumbing business, Benjamin Franklin Plumbers. I appreciated that they didn't push these purchases/services too hard. Other than the initial problem with email communication, I am extremely happy with the overall experience. I am considering signing up for their annual maintenance programs.

** Final update (This service I would amend to a A. However I feel people should still know of the poor experience I originally had.) Had a very nice individual come out to check both of our AC units. I had a good experiance and understand they are triyng to do as much as they can to win me back as a customer. The tech did inform me that both of my units were low on their charge, which is something I expected from the output of a hot summer day the year prior. I want to say that I just had a "dud" of a service previously. **Update I was contacted by the company and spoke with a very nice individual. I was issued a full refund for the services I paid for. I was also offered a free AC system check up in the spring. I agreed to this service. ***Original Service ( Overall grade F) How did it go... Let?s see. Horribly. Friday morning we noticed our furnace was not igniting (gas Trane.) I browsed AngiesList and hour OneHour providing a 24hr response time, and as it was cold it was worth a bit more to me to have our furnace serviced. I gave them a call and told them I found them on AngiesList, and setup a service call after hours for $20 more than the normal call rate of $49. The dispatch center was great, and the lady I spoke with was very polite, and knew what questions to ask. I received a call at 5:00pm from the tech saying he was 30 minutes out. Great, as promised after hours 5:00pm-midnight. A bit strange that the call came in right at 5:00pm though, it was as if it was planned. No big deal - I'm happy I was provided with what I was promised. Here's where things got a bit iffy. Before calling OH (OH is what their emails come in as) I located the service manual for our furnace. Being a computer tech and knowing things about electronics and just a basic understanding of how things work, I commenced with trouble shooting the furnace myself. I followed the directions on a full reset, attempted twice with no success. I closed the gas valve and shut it down. When the tech arrived he was polite and to the point. He was here to troubleshoot and fix my furnace. I showed him to my furnace and he immediately said the problem was because I had turned the gas valve off and did not understand why I did so. Reassured me the furnace would work turning the valve back on. I described to him how the furnace would run, the main fan would kick on, the blower would kick on and then immediately turn off and the pilot would never light. I explained how I thought this could have been caused from the ice storm we had last Wednesday and how my wife had informed me out power went out over a dozen times Thursday-Friday. Including one brown-out that happened while the furnace was running. The tech determined that the gas valve was not the issue, even after I tried to tell him that. He did keep reassuring me that he was an HVAC specialist and knew what he was doing, and was there to fix my furnace. He tested a few sensors (two) and didn't get a signal throughput through the roll out switch. OK, so that's our problem. He took it out and tried to reset it many times (on the phone yesterday he said he tried over 100 times (100 button presses takes a while.) He quoted me $326 to replace the switch and said after that the furnace would be working. He informed me that his fully stocked truck did not have that switch, but could get one tomorrow (Saturday.) I told him it was OK, and that I would get back to them on the service. I wasn't comfortable with something and couldn?t put my finger on it. I told him I knew a HVAC guy (a neighbor) and wanted to talk to him first. I paid him the $69 service fee and he went on my way, again he let me know he was a specialized and trained Trane HVAC expert. My wife got home and we decided to pay the absurd amount of $326 for a switch that could be had off a large auction site for about $26 + $4 shipping, but realizing that the $326 was guaranteed I called them up and setup the call for Saturday. About 9pm or so the tech calls me saying the part was in the warehouse and he could not get it until Monday. OK, I told him, we could live off the fireplace for now. Fast forward to Sunday, our friend came over (neighbor) and looked at the furnace for us. We wanted to know if anything else was wrong as the OH tech only got to the rollout switch (second thing he tested after turning the gas back on) to know if we were going to have to replace more. We removed the rollout switch, which is attached with one sheet metal screw, and cleaned it with electrical cleaner. After reinstalling the switch and it got throughput. Our friend kept looking around and determined it had to be something board related. He was not a Trane guy and did not want to touch anything else. Other than checking throughput on some switches, the fan, blower etc., he went on his way. Our OH tech called me at 840 Monday morning informing me that the switch was not in stock and would be in Tuesday. I told him that was OK and I would see him Tuesday. (I still planned to pay to replace the switch - dirty or not it failed once before (or did it?) And "winter is coming," here?s where things went South. Monday around noon I called the tech and explained what our friend had determined. He said he would come by on his way home and look at it to check the switch. I thanked him, but he kept telling me that was not possible and the switch controlled all the safety equipment. Here is where he told me he tested it over 100 times while I stood and watched and that he was a certified Trane HVAC expert and knew HVAC equipment and our friend must have damaged something testing it. I was not impressed with this phone call, as I felt a lot of defense and pressure from it. He showed up around 6:00pm and met with my wife. He told me wife he was there "as a favor to prove that I'm right." Again, I'm a computer tech. The customer is never, ever, under any circumstance, wrong. The tech's job is to always be wrong. It?s part of our job. Make the customer satisfied. He could have worded that differently and all would have been fine. The tech went to the furnace and said "see the switch is bad" and it had throughput. He stated that we changed the switch on them. How would we change the switch? The Trane suppliers are closed on the weekend - and from what I can tell every model unit is different. I get a message from my wife again saying he was enraged by how someone else messed with the furnace and changed things - and he is an HVAC specialist and can tell things have been altered. Yea things had been altered, I cleaned the rollout switch. After much informing my wife that the switch WAS bad, and being "on a war path" (per my wife) he kept explaining how we were trying to use him for this service and he was only coming by to "PROVE" that he was "right." He informed us that the error code had changed on the furnace. Funny, when I was there with him Friday he never opened the lower half of the furnace to check for an error code. He kept expressing how he didn't understand why we had someone else come look at the furnace after they had ordered a part for it. (We didn't - we were told the part was in stock, and I was still going to pay $326 to have this part replaced.) He expressed how last time the error code was for "polarity poor grounding" previously. The tech was also very unhappy that there were tools around the furnace. He kept questioning who they belonged to and why they were there. She informed him that they were mine. Apparently it?s a crime to leave your tools laying around. The OH tech informed my wife he needed to get some things from his truck and would be back in a few moments. She said he went out on the front porch and made a phone call, and began shouting at the phone. Loud enough that one of my tenants heard it in his bedroom on the back side of the house. He came back in and informed my wife that he had spoken to the owner of the company, and due to us tampering with the unit "the owner doesn?t want us continuing with the repair. You will need to find another company." Really now. I understand we tampered with our HVAC, we did. I understand our HVAC is also 5 years old and has no warranty as we bought our house 1 year ago and the HVAC warranties did not transfer. I also understand this was a repair call - which I was going to pay $326 to replace a switch which tested "bad" and then "good." Also from reading their price quote sheet, it looks like the main board would have cost another $600 to replace. I had planned to pay for this. The whole situation was handled so poorly that I am dumbfounded. As soon as my wife was told by the tech that he was there "to prove he was right" I decided I was going to cancel all services. No one needs to deal with an ego like that. I strongly discourage the use of this company due to the way they handled the situation, and the way that the technician spoke down and treated my wife.

Their serviceman, John, was very, very professional and made every effort to find a way the humidifier could be mounted. He also provided very useful alternatives I might consider for a second-best solution to obtain higher humidity in the house. Although I have a heating and A/C service provider, should the need ever arise I would consider One Hour as a replacement.
