FINE Fence

Company made two visits to ensure the location of the fence. Provided numerous examples of the fence I would have installed. Was diligent regarding a major telecom easement (1/2 million calls daily) that runs through my property. Installation crew was professional, courteous, and quick. I am extremely pleased with the final product.

It was a pleasure working with Fine Fence! Their estimate was lower than others and when the work was completed, there were no hidden charges. The crew came in and knocked it out! They installed the fence with efficiency and timely. The crew made it look so easy. They worked hard in the heat and were very nice. I highly recommend this company! ~ 189 ft of ornamental fencing with 1 gate surrounding my pool.

From begining to end my experience was wonderful. The estimate process was very professional and I received some great advice and direction as to what would work best for my yard. The workers were efficient and polite and very thorough. They cleaned up afterwards and my yard looks magnificent. I LOVE IT.

We had some delay in the beginning due to HOA approval & county permit. Mike was very patient to keep pushing it through. Once this part was done, they showed up and finished the fence in one day. The workmanship was superb, the fence look absolutely AWESOME!! We are VERY pleased with his job and I have just referred him to another colleague of mine.

Fantastic! Mike and his team did a wonderful job. They were prompt in their responses, very flexible about where we wanted the fence and working around our existing fenced areas, and the work they did looks gorgeous. We have received many compliments on our fence, especially the large double gate that Mike helped us pick out. We recently contacted him because our fence doors had started sticking due to some shifting in the wood and his team was out the next day to adjust them. Their price was very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the work they did. Would recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone looking for fence work to be done!

From the estimate through completion of the work, we were incredibly pleased with Mike and his team. They walked through exactly what they would do and all the options we could choose from, and sent us pictures of some example work so that we knew what decisions we were making. One of the things that best represents how easy they were to work with was a last-minute issue on our side that required us to reschedule the job. After the final review the day before the work was to begin, we spoke to another neighbor to let them know about the work and they informed us they were about to have some trees removed and stumps ground down in a location that would pose a risk to a new fence. With just about 12 hours to go, we were able to postpone the work and have it completed several days later after the trees had been removed, and FINE didn't charge us any penalty for it. They also estimated that it would take a day and a half to complete, but ended up working a little longer to finish it all in one day. We couldn't be more pleased with the look and quality of the work, nor with the professionalism of the team. We will definitely be recommending them to anybody who needs fence work, and will certainly use them again in the future if we ever need similar work done down the road.

FINE fence installed a new fence at the front of our house in Bethesda about 4 years ago. At the time, I thought the owner was great. He was friendly and seemed eager to please, and I was happy with the fence when first installed. However, the workmanship does not hold up with time. Recently, the front latch board came completely off. Looking closely, I noticed that it had been nailed in in a very haphazard fashion. Nevertheless, i was willing to give the owner the benefit of the doubt and assumed he would be willing to come out and fix it. I could not have been more mistaken. When i reached him and told him the issue, to my great surprise, he turned into a completely different person than the one I had dealt with when my fence was first installed. He was very unfriendly, cold, distant, and brusque. Still giving him the benefit of the doubt, since he had been so pleasant to deal with when he originally installed my fence, I also asked him to give me an estimate on fixing the other fencing on my property. He said that he would get back to me about both fixing the broken latch and to give me an estimate on the additional fencing. About two weeks went by and I did not hear from him, so i called and left a message asking him to call me back if he wanted my business. That was about 3 weeks ago and I have not heard a word from him. I think it is fair to assume that he is blowing me off. So, beware of FINE Fence. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK!!!. The owner is all so friendly and nice UNTIL there is an issue, at which point he will turn his back on you.

FINE was fantastic. I called three companies to get estimates. I needed a lot done on a budget. FINE was the first to come out. When I called them back a month later to ask them to do the work, they scheduled a revisit within days to schedule the work. Their workers showed up when promised and did a great job. I am very pleased and will recommend them to my friends and family.

Last year FINE Fence put an aluminum fence around our pool and did a WONDERFUL job! While opening the pool this year we noticed the gate wasn't latching properly. I called Mike today and left a message about my issue and by the afternoon his workers were at my house and fixed the problem in minutes. I do not think I have ever had that kind of speedy response ever!! I am so glad we chose FINE fence

Maybe, I am completely crazy, but this fence that I paid a good amount of money for only lasted approximately 4-5 years before it started breaking down. The fence that it replaced was here was here for 10 years while I had it and I don't know how long prior to my buying the house. Here is the story....Last year I noticed that one gate and the post next to it had become loose and could be pulled out of the ground easily. I called Mike and advised that it didn't seem like they had been packed in cement. He said what they use is something a little different that is a more porous. I said, well, whatever it is you used, it doesn't last and shouldn't be falling down already. After going back and forth he said that all he could do at this point (warranty is only a year) would be to offer to pay for new supplies if I paid for the labor, so his 30-40 bucks versus my few hundred. So, I decided to just do it myself and not bother with his offer. I did not get to fix those last year, I propped them up with big rocks and a nearby tree, and worked around them for the time being. Then about two months ago, I had a post blow over, so I went out and bought three new posts and cement and got to work. As I was digging, I found the old very large cement blocks were still in the ground from the original fence. My neighbor suggested that I dig out two more posts along the line (if they also were not that secure) and reverse them so I could offset my digging and not have to dig out the concrete blocks (in order to do the job right). We walked down and felt those to see if they would come out easily and found that they were all resting on top of the ground. So, after doing a full survey of all of the work that Fine Fence did for us, I found that the posts that were all closest to the house were all rock solid. Everything else was barely standing up. About three weeks ago, I spent a day, with a two man auger, and two friends putting in about 10 new posts. The feeling that the three of us had was that the fence posts were cut down from 7' to 5' and change, then were rested on the old cement blocks and buried into the ground. I can't think of any other way that half of the fence is perfect and the rest was trash. So, take this review for what it is, if you think a 2600.00 fence should only last 4 years, then I am crazy, but if you think it should last longer, then you will find someone else to do the job right. I do have my signed contract, as well as plenty of pictures of what the fence looked like when I started pulling it down to replace the posts. I realize that no warranty is for a lifetime but in a situation where there would be no way for me to possibly know what the fence looked like underground until something actually went wrong, there should be more recourse for the consumer. Overall, I am very disappointed with my experience.

What a terrific contractor! Charlie did an excellent job on the initial estimate and educating us about fence options. Mike was professional and responsive, staying in close communication with us through the permitting process. MIke spent time with us discussing the lot and the fence, and amazingly, his crew had the old fence down and new one up in two days. We have a pool so we really appreciated their attention to the details of requirements for fencing for yards with pools. Mike recommended a contractor for the final staining of the fence and it is indeed beautiful. We could not have been more pleased. I would absolutely recommend them.

This was one of the BEST contracting experiences we have ever had. From the initial quote to the follow-up site visit to the install, Mike and his crew were professional and hard-working. We got three quotes for the job and Mike's was the most accurate and fair. He did not charge extra for "better quality boards", these came standard. He did not act like a site visit from him was an extra benefit, he just did it. The other companies wanted to add extra cost to the purchase if we used credit or finance. With Mike, it was one simple price. Despite being a very busy time for the company, Mike did his best to stay in contact and answer my many questions. He offered excellent advice without being pushy. Because of his advice, we now have a beautiful and very sturdy fence. The two men who did the install were nothing short of amazing. They hand-dug almost thirty post holes to thirty inches deep in eight hours!!!!!! The entire fence was complete in twelve hours. I know from experience that digging fence post holes is back-breaking work and we had many tree roots to work around. They never complained and barely even stopped for a lunch break. Their work ethic was unparalleled. Thank you! We recommend Fine Fence without question. I almost wish I had more yard to fence, just to have the same great experience again!!!

From start to finish everything went great with FINE Fence! They were responsive and the estimator was knowledgeable. When we ran into some tricky questions from our neighbor, Mike, the principal came out himself (multiple times) and helped us navigate those issues both in terms of the plan for the fence as well as communicating with the neighbor to put them at ease. Mike had to be creative due to a large permanent drainage pipe that ran across our property and the neighbor's, but ultimately the fence went in without a hitch. The work was performed efficiently in one day. We got several estimates but FINE Fence was the most knowledgeable and most responsive and truly provided personalized service that met every need that arose through the process. Everything went as advertised. Angel and his helper showed up on time and completed the work in two days. I cannot exaggerate how steadily these two individuals worked. It was hard work removing the old fence and post holes and then digging holes, installing the posts, and then building the new fence from scratch. I am very satisfied. The fence is beautiful.

I needed to replace my partial privacy fence in the backyard and enclose the entire backyard with a privacy fence and two gates, with the request to install the fencing inside my current chain link fence to avoid any possible future property line issues with neighbors. Several of my little dogs had found an escape route through the privacy fence so time was of the essence. I contacted several contractors who had received good reviews on Angies List. Each quoted similar estimates, but I selected Fine Fence because they seemed a little more accommodating to my needs. My biggest concern was obtaining a permit for the style of fencing I wanted. PG County only allows board-on-board fencing and any exemptions must be approved by the County Council. Because I live in an incorporated city, I had to present my appeal to my local city council. Although Fine Fence was ready to begin immediately (this was in November 2015), my city council repeatedly cancelled scheduled appeal hearings with me. I had to contact Fine Fence each time and delay the installation; I was sure they thought I was blowing them off!. Finally, my hearing was heard in February (four months later!) and after a 15 minute hearing, my fence exemption was approved! Fine Fence was ready to go, and the next week I had my new fence and gates. The fence and gates were beyond my expectation and I love them. Probably more important than just the excellent work was their professionalism and customer relations. I worked directly with Mike, and he was always prompt in responding to my emails and texts. He worked with me to ensure the fence was as escape-proof as possible and made helpful recommendations. The work crew was also so professional, friendly, and accommodating. The entire fence was completely installed in two days (with several rain days interrupting the work) and they completely cleaned up everything before they finished. I highly recommend this company and would certainly use them again for another project.

I know that I am joining the chorus of high praise for Fine Fence--but there is a reason they have so many happy satisfied customers, i.e., they are top-notch professionals who combine quality service with a quality product. Both Charlie and Mike were prompt, cordial and super well-informed. I knew from the beginning that I was in good hands. I was provided with various options from fixing the existing fence to a complete replacement and was in no way pressured to choose the highest cost option. The men who installed the new fence and gate did a beautiful job and went well above and beyond by generously replacing boards on the side yard and backyard fence--all for no extra charge. It is rare these days that I can with COMPLETE confidence recommend a service provider. But this is the case with Fine Fence.

The owner did the estimate in the beginning of the week, and the crew was here the same Friday. They spent 2 hours replacing posts/rails, then cleaned up completely. The fence is again intact, and sturdy.

Couldn't have gone smoother. Responded immediately on Angie's list, the morning after the visit I had a quote. A day before the work the owner came out and we marked the spots together. The crew was very friendly and had everything done in under 6 hours. When I'm ready to expand and add chickens I will be calling them again. Professional, responsive, punctual. High quality work!

My wife and I recently moved to Westminster, MD and bought a house with almost an acre of land. We have three small yappy dogs that needed a fence ASAP. We have depended on word of mouth for all work to be done in the new house rather than advertistments you see everywhere. My daughter and husband just happened to use Fine Fence a few years ago so I asked their opinion of Fine and the answer was: EXCELLENT WORK....QUICK....GOOD PRICE...VERY SATISFIED WITH ALL WORK. To double check their opinion I looked them up on my trusty Angie's list. Fine was highly rated there as well. My yard goes up and down, sideways is uneven everywhere, goes through brushy woods and is a general mess. Charlie, and Mike the owner, helped me solve every problem I presented. Three gates on the back side were installed in such a manner that there are no huge spaces under any portion of the fence. The same goes for the entire installation. The cedar pickets across the front and sides are straight as an arrow. Every thing about the installation is perfect. This is a perfect example why I chose an owner owned company rather than one that is part of a corporate mess. Final Word: perfect installation/workmanship, excellent price, qualitity materials, professional installers, absolutely zero complaints. I would recomment Fine Fence to anyone and will definitely use them again.

It look less than 3 weeks from my FIRST phone call to fence completion, even with some weather delays. Mike was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable and worked with our budget!

I am totally pleased with the process. Mr. Schaefer arrived on time for the estimate and listened to the issues I wanted to discuss. He thoroughly explained the options (both pros and cons) and I was able to select an option to resolve my problem of humans and deers jumping my existing chain link fence. His proposal included a diagram which helped me visualize the expected results. He kept me up to date as we waited on the arrival of materials. The installation was done in a very professional manner. The installers arrived on time, explained how they would proceed, and were very open to my questions.

Mike kept in consistent contact with me by email and when it was time to get my pool fence installed he was able to do it exactly the day I needed it done and it was completed in one day. I knew I would like the fence I picked out, put once I saw it installed, WOW! The crew did a great job.
