FINE Fence

Mike helped us to pick the type of fencing to use, drew diagrams of how it would be done, then did the work in just one day. The plan included some creative thinking because of the configuration of the yard and driveway, and this turned out very well. Mike's foreman was excellent at coming up with 'fixes' for a couple of areas that needed some extra coverage. The entire team was courteous and polite and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. The end result is excellent.

Amazing!!! Since Mike put in my fence last year (and he is the only one we trust for our fencing), I decided to send him an email about adding a fenced garden area. He responded very quickly and we spent some time in discussion and making adjustments to get this in my price range. He is a great communicator which is so very important. They came out today and did the work and it looks great!!! Even while working they noticed some issues and called us over to see if it was ok and actually made it sooo much better. So many other crews we have had (not Fine Fence crews) would have just done it as instructed without seeing the possible issues, not fine fence. They were fantastic!!!! Great work!!!

I would recommend Fine Fence to anyone looking for responsiveness, honesty, options, good counsel, and timely work. After several attempts at finding someone to help with my fence project, I contacted Fine Fence. I heard back very quickly from the owner, Mike. He then sent out Charlie who was kind and easy to talk to about what I needed, as well as what I hoped to do.They exceeded my expectations, and had my small fence up after 5 days of me contacting their company. I do have future fence projects that I will need done, and will only be using Fine Fence.

From the very first phone call, Fine Fencing was a pleasure to work with. Both the owner, Mike, and Charlie, our primary contact after the initial phone call, were extremely courteous, prompt, and professional. Charlie followed up in a timely manner with a quote and we were set up for installation after we got a few quotes from other companies (similar pricing, by the way, but not similar customer service!) The fence was installed in one day and there was not a trace of trash or scraps left on site. The fence is a good quality cedar wood and both Mike and Charlie were able to point us in the right direction when we were deciding whether to go vinyl, wood, etc. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommend!

Mike at FINE Fence built a fantastic fence for us. Great price, excellent quality, and amazing service. Our HOA was very particular about the fence style and location and it required extra work for Mike in planning the fence. He worked with us and responded very quickly to our requests. He completed the entire fence in only one day. We are very happy that we went with FINE and would gladly do business again!

We had a split rail fence that we wanted replaced. We got several estimates. Charlie and Mike were great. They were honest, professional, and worked with us every step of the way. We decided to go with them over companies that offered to match and beat any price because of the way they worked with us. They made the process simple for us and they worked with us to get the fence up quickly. Their guys came, removed the old fence, and put up the new one in one day. It looks great and appears to be solid! It exceeded our expectations. Would strongly recommend working with them!

I had a 20 year old 4 board paddock fence that needed to be replace. Based on Angie's reviews. I called Fine Fencing and Mike the owner sent his appraiser, Charlie, out in two days. Charlie walked the fence line with me and gave me a much needed mini-tutorial, on types of wood, sinking post, and showed me several pictures of different types of fences. At no time did I feel any pressure to choose one type over another. I decided to stick with the paddock style fence. Charlie sent me 4 reasonable estimate in my box that evening. Mike got the permits and on 2/25 a very snowy and cold day, the fence was installed, Mike worked all morning right along with his men and came back later in the day after the fence was finished. He than checked out the whole fence, and even went down in the creek area to retrieve where some extra cement paper and wood had blown. The fence looks terrific and I'm sure will give me several year of pleasure. It was a very nice surprise to meet a man, Mike, that takes so much pride in his business, and backs that up.

I contacted FINE Fence to see if I could get an estimate on some repairs to my chainlink. Mike called me back the next day and let me know that his company doesn't specialize in chain link fences and that it probably would not be cost effective for him to manage the project. He was very professional and the honesty was reassuring. He even provided a referral for another company who does work with chain link fences. If I am ever in need of a wooden fence, I'd be sure to get a hold of FINE fence first.

Mike Schaefer of FINE Fence is an absolute pleasure to work with in terms of quality of service and product and I would hire him again in a heartbeat. I called him on a cold Friday morning in late January, so not your typical fence season. He came by for a quote that same afternoon, and it took a very short amount of time which was great because I was heading out with my kids. He is a friendly and personable professional. By early Sunday afternoon I had the quote in my inbox. I couldn't believe how efficient things were going so far. The quote was detailed and competitive. My husband and I emailed a couple of questions to Mike in the following week, and he got back to us immediately. He also put in one or two calls to check in and see if we had further questions, which I appreciated. By the end of that week, we had decided to go with Mike and FINE Fence. His quote was in line with others as far as price, but I could tell the service would be a step above. I'm so glad we went with FINE. He dropped off the paperwork we needed to fill in, and he took care of the permit for us at no extra charge or hassle. I should also mention that Mike included the Angie's list discount without prompting. Now THAT is excellent customer service. He knew I came from Angie's List, but many companies would require prompting for the discount. Not FINE Fence. About two weeks after the initial quote ( so one week after we decided to go with FINE), Mike called me and said they were ready to install. A huge snowstorm was predicted for the Thursday of that week, so Mike proposed that they install the fence on Wednesday, the day before the snowstorm, because that would be their last chance for awhile. It was a bitterly cold day on Wednesday but Mike and the team showed up on time (early in the morning) and worked hard all day long. The fences look FANTASTIC and I only wish we had hired Mike and his team sooner. It was one of those big jobs that we were putting off, but Mike made it so easy!! As predicted, we had a major snowstorm that Thursday and there is still snow on the ground as I write this, a week later. Thanks to Mike's proactivity we got the fence installed before the storm hit. I was blown away by the service and quality we received from Mike and FINE Fence. I would call him immediately for any further fencing needs, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone!

He was very responsive... answered all emails/phone calls within 24 hours. He even adjusted the price based upon other quotes we had received. Even though his quote was still the highest (by $50), we chose FINE fence because of the professionalism and responsiveness. The fence looks amazing!

Mike Schaefer came to my home in December 2013. I told him what I needed and I would have to get the HOA to approve the fence. Mike spent some time searching for and uncovering my property corners from a previous survey I had done 16 years ago. He measured the fence for my back yard and drew an outline for the fence with measurements on my property platt. Mike sent me a quote for the fence including a detailed description of the fence that I needed for the HOA approval. He included a photo of a previous fence like the one that would be built for me. My HOA took a month to review and approve my application. I called Mike on Tuesday and gave him the go ahead for construction and installation of the fence. He cleared it with Ms Utility and scheduled installation for Thursday. The temperature was in the 20s. He arrive ahead of his crew and shoveled a path in the snow from the front to the backyard for his crew to bring in fence lumber. They blended my new fence with my neighbors fence so that it looked like the 2 fences were built together. The crew dug the post holes by hand, this provided for tight fitting post for the fence. If you have ever used a hand powered post hole digger you know it is not easy but much better than a gas powered drill post hole digger. They completed the fence in one day. The construction and workmanship were excellent. Working with Mike was excellent and my wife and I are very pleased with the new fence.

Fine Fence is Absolutely the Finest - every expectation I had from pricing, design, materials, workmanship, to clean up was exceeded - Mike Schaefer and his crew are trustworthy & have my respect ! They also earned my neighbors respect as well, being very courteous of our neighbor's property during installation

Mike came out quickly to do the estimate. He followed up a couple times, but in a very low-pressure way. Answered questions, clarified some points on the contract, etc. When I was done gathering estimates and consulting with my husband, and let Mike know we were going to go with his company, he called Miss Utility promptly, and scheduled the build within days. On the day of install, they showed up promptly, worked efficiently, cleaned up after themselves, and were out of our way by mid-afternoon. Mike left an envelope for me to send him a check after the work was complete; he emailed the invoice after the crew had left. I feel confident that if there ever are any problems, Mike and FINE Fence will be responsive and helpful.

Mike is great. We got 5 quotes, and mike's was right in line with the others. We chose mike because he could do the job the following week and he was just very easy to talk to. He didn't try to sell us anything more than what we wanted. He was always responsive when we emailed questions and the fence was installed as promised the following week. Recently we had problems with one of our gates. I emailed mike and he was out the following day to take a look and fix the problem. Mike really does offer great service at competitive prices.

Since our 1 year old Golden Retriever had recently found his way to the main road 1/2 mile away, it was time to look into getting a fence installed. After some research I was doubtful that we could afford a fence for our back yard, but I called Mike from Fine Fence to at least get a price. Mike came out a day after I called him and we walked the perimeter and he gave me a crash course on fences. I explained that the cost was probably outside of my reach (I'm retired), and he came back a couple days later with some options that made it affordable to me. Mike's crew started shortly afterwards, and they finished 95% of the job in one day, which was amazing to me! The crew even worked for 1/2 hour after it got dark to finish enough of the job so that the area was secured and we could let our dog out that night. (They came back the next day in the rain to finish up.) The quality of the work was exceptional and the custom built cedar gates are a great touch. Mike was great to work with and I highly recommend that you contact him if you are looking to have a fence installed.

Mike came to our house on a Tuesday. We couldn't decide between chain link or picket fencing so Mike suggested writing up two estimates for us, to see if that would help us choose. We received the estimates that Friday. We decided to go with the picket fence and let Mike know on Monday of the following week. Mike called and said he was going to try to have it installed by the end of the week which surprised me since we'd had two days of snow/ice. But he was here on Friday morning, installed the fencing and was done by that afternoon. I am so pleased with the fence! It turned out even nicer than I had pictured it! And my dogs love it! He made sure the pickets were close enough to the ground to keep them from digging out and tunneling under. I was also worried about gaps where the fence meets the house but he made sure there was minimal space there too. Mike was extremely professional and easy to work with. I will certainly use him again if I ever need more fencing. He was highly recommended on Angie's List and I can understand why!

After estimate visit, provider 's crew arrived within a few days and completed the job in a llittle over a day. Owner Mike checked in with us, keeping us informed of plans and progress, and came on site to view completed job. He was sensitive to our pressing need: a lively dog who had learned how to climb over our existing chain link fence. Thus until wood fence was installed, we could not let our dog out freely in the yard. Now we are relieved--and happy. Owner Mike friendly, responsive, and prompt.

Excellent response. Their estimate was in the same ball park as other companies, but others said they could not do job for 3-4 weeks. Fine Fence installed our new fence within days of us agreeing on the contract!

What a great experience! Mike was very responsive and got out quickly to see what we needed. We had already had one estimate by a contractor well reviewed here, but Fine came in almost 20% less expensive. Mike was very helpful in suggesting where to position the fence and gates, explaining different build techniques, and best of all, once we agreed on the price, he was lightning fast. We were moving in in a week, so speed mattered. We gave him a green light on Saturday, he had Miss Utility out on Monday, and a permit on Tuesday. Fence was complete by Friday! Quality is excellent - we have gotten a number of compliments on the fence by our new neighbors. He was in touch keeping us updated at all times, mostly by text, which is fine with me. I would highly recommend Fine, and would not hesitate to use them again.

Mike and his crew were very professional. He was always prompt, courteous and respectful of our neighbors. Our neighbor has tended a flower bed for 40 years which runs along most of the length of the property line. She commented to me afterwards that the crew at Fine Fence was more respectful of her plants than the company they used to do their back fence the previous year! The flower garden was barely disturbed despite its location on the line. Should we ever need another fence, we know exactly who to call!

Mike was very responsive to our initial inquiry (and all subsequent inquiries). We were in the process of buying the property when we contacted him. He met us there, got information about what we wanted, took measurements, and made suggestions for the best way to proceed. We ordered one pressure-treated pine privacy fence (fencing in an area approximately 68' x 65') and one split rail fence (for an area approximately 68' x 35'). Mike sent us an estimate and a drawing of the proposed fence quickly. He worked with us over the next week as we made several changes to the original plan. Installation was delayed a few days due to weather and other work FINE Fence had committed to, but Mike kept us updated daily. On the day of installation, Mike and his crew showed up at the time they told us they would. Mike re-checked the measurements with me by walking the property. The crew worked diligently all day, finishing the job just as the sun set. I was particularly impressed with how they constructed the cedar gates (2 single gates, and 2 double gates) on site. Overall, it was a good experience. Mike is easy to work with and he and the crew did an excellent job.

We joined Angie's to find a fence man and we certainly found a good one! Mike used texts, emails, and phone calls to stay in touch while we were in the selection and decision-making process and was extremely helpful. He gave us the pros and cons of different material and design choices and in doing so made us feel comfortable throughout the process. He gave us a discount for being a member of Angie's List and also a discount for paying cash. The fence is a real humdinger; my plumber was here the other day and made 3 separate comments about it--my next door neighbor said he wants one--a lady walking her dog today said how nice it looks--my lawn care man likes it, too. But, most of all, we like it. I go out there with my dogs and I'm in my own little world now--I no longer see all the junk that's in the yard of the absentee landlord's house behind me--the yard now seems much bigger than before, why I don't know, and the beagle really is able to have a good time now because she is no longer on a 26 foot retractable leash with me on the other end. The guys doing the work were really great--they worked for about 12 hours and did the whole job in a day and a morning. Also, Mike built the base of the fence so that it's pretty much impossible for Lulu (our little beagle) to dig under. We can now leave home with the dogs in the back yard without having to worry. We don't miss the ugly combination of our old chain link fence and our neighbor's back yard!

crew was on time, polite, no smoking, yelling, swearing, music or sitting down on the job. These guys worked all day to complete the project. Mike was there in the A.M. and later in the day to work out some sma;;er details. professional from start to finish. Very pleased with this company with their knowlegde and approach

Fine Fence installed a lovely cedar picket fence around half of our property. Mike was very friendly and responsive, and his price was very fair. He was willing to work with me through some design changes with patience and no complaints. The fence was put up in one day while I wasn't home, and upon arrival everything was cleaned up and there was no evidence a work crew had been at my house all day. Patient, friendly, tidy quality service at very reasonable price. Many neighbors have since stopped by and commented on how beautiful the fence looks. The only minor blemish on an otherwise stellar performance was how long the process took. I understand some delays due to my design changes and shop requirements for custom cuts on the pickets. But there was an instance when I didn't hear back from Mike for a week and other minor delays that resulted in my almost not being able to get the fence complete due to timing. But it all worked out beautifully.
