I asked 3 companies for quotes to prune my large Bradford Pear Tree. Appalachian Tree Co Inc was the least expensive of the 3 quotes I got. The quote included a 25% discount. The team, led by Jose, pruned our tree today (March 9, 2023). They arrived early which was great for us. My wife had some questions that were knowledgeably answered. The efficient 4 man team completed the work in less than 1 1/2 hours. The team trimmed our tree, removed all debris, and did a thorough cleanup.

Arrrived on time on the date they said they would. Work was completed professionally and quickly. There was some lawn damages from the equipment which could not be avoided. Several logs were left for a few days for a larger truck to come remove them. It came the day they promised and they were removed.
Description of Work: Hired them to remove 6 trees and some brush piles; 2 of the trees also had the stumps ground down. One large tree was also trimmed of some dead branches.

Had 3 trees that were growing too close to my house and my neighbors house. The guys from Appalachian quickly pruned the trees so they were not so close to my house or my neighbors. They disposed of all the branches and I'm very happy with the results.

The Appalachian Tree Company came to give me a quote of the work. The quote was very reasonable for work. We set up an appointment. They provided the work on time and completely as written. They were done very quickly and left the area clean of all remnants of the tree.

Originally I would have left a good review from the original service I received but not great because getting the local representative to schedule with me was difficult to say the least. However, I called them approximately a year after having my tree removed for a quote on removal of the stump. The woman who helps me on the phone was very nice however in order to get any work done I had to go through the local representative. I called and left a message for the representative on 2/15 once I signed the appraisal asking about scheduling the work, if the large roots would be included, and who had the responsibility of calling missutility. Understanding we had a recent storm, I waited a week before leaving a second message (after receiving no return call answering my questions). Left another message with same questions on 2/21. No return call. Left a third message on 2/23 with representative practically begging him to call me back with the answers. Cause if it was my responsibility to call missutility I wanted to complete the task before anyone dug because I knew I had utilities in the area of the tree. I called the main office and told her I wasn't getting any return calls. She said they usually call missutility but that she would leave him a message in the internal network. STILL no return calls to answer whether they could even do the roots. On 2/28 I see my lawn has been marked up by missutility, which means my messages were being received and no one had the decency to call back the customer with obvious outstanding questions. I left a curt and upset message with the representative and immediately called the office and left a message to get some answers. The Representative beeped in and proceeded to yell at me for "leaving an angry message on his phone when he was with his family" (it was 4:30pm) and that he "didn't need to return my calls to answer my questions", "that he told me about missutility a year ago and didn't have to repeat himself to me", and that he "didn't need my business". I told him to cancel the appraisal, his response was "good". I was so surprised I wrote down exactly what he said. I called the company and left a message that the appraisal was to be cancelled and that I would never do business with them again.

This is a great company. The people I have dealt with there are always polite and?professional. I have used the company in the past and they were recommended by one of my neighbors. My home is on 5 acres and part of it is wooded. We have many mature trees. For this service, we had them cut down a dead mature oak tree that was near the house. The did grind the stump. Clean-up was not a 'pretty' as the ground was covered in snow making it difficult to get wood chips. They did the best they could. Numerous trees were trimmed back from a fenced area and 3 fallen trees were taken and chipped. The crew was very careful and no damage was done to any area of my home or fencing. The trees/limbs had to be tied off and guided away from the house/fence. I trust this company to do this type of delicate work. ?

Called three different contractors for estimate. Appalachian staff was very pleasant and arranged for estimate. I did not need to be present which was good for me. The original bid was for removal of a large maple tree. All the bids came back and Appalachian beat all bids by $200+. The work was scheduled but they had a cancellation and asked if they could come a few days early which was fine. The crew showed up professionally outfitted and well equipped. They were pleasant and respectful. The supervisor coordinated with me and suggested the other large tree in the yard be trimmed up, especially since bad weather was coming. I knew the tree needed work already and was able to negotiate a fair price for the extra work. All of the work was done quickly and professionally. The trimmed tree looked great. They were very thorough in grinding out the stump and roots. Great job, will use again, and will recommend to anyone.

They arrived early and worked diligently in the 85 degree blazing sun to do the job with exemplary professionalism, skill, safety, and courtesy. Then they cleaned up all the debris. I truly have never seen a harder working professional crew ever! Will definitely be calling them for all our tree work (and we have a wooded lot!). Further, when I called the Appalachian Tree Company they sent a rep to our home the same day to access the storm damage. Highly recommend this company for their professionalism, knowledge, skill, and responsiveness!
Description of Work: The three man crew removed storm damaged large branches from 95 foot tall Tulip Poplar close to our house. They trimmed out the dead wood and made it safe again. They removed a small tree and a tall Tulip Poplar close to the house also. Also trimmed back and removed branches hanging over our house on a huge old Ash tree.

The 3-man team arrived on time, with all their equipment, including a chipper and truck to hold the chips, and a small tractor to haul limbs to the chipper. They verified which trees were to be removed. Two of the trees were in a narrow space between my house and the neighbor's. The trees were expertly dropped without any damage to houses or bushes. All debris was cleaned up. They worked quickly and had it all done in an hour!

They did an excellent job - in fact, I'm going to have them come out again this year and take down a 40' infected tree. It's much better to trim trees than suffer the damage when they fall.

I have hired Appalachian several times in the pat to do tree work for me, and have been continually satisfied and impressed by their work. Pedro came by on schedule to give an estimate, which was reasonable, and scheduled the work to be completed within 2 weeks. The work crew was punctual, professional, and cleaned up completely after themselves. The cut down trees, ground stumps, and trimmed and shaped beautifully.

Last month, my neighbor had 3 trees taken down by Appalachian Tree Service. When they left for the day, I noticed many branches on my side of the property line. I cleaned them up and forgot about it. Before the Holidays, my neighbor had the company come back and remove 2 more trees. They left a similar mess in my yard but this time, I wanted them to clean it up. Two telephone calls later, they came back and removed one log from my property but left everything else including 2 damaged forsythias and a broken flower container. Two more telephone calls later and they came back. They removed 14 (!) handfuls of sticks from my yard to their truck including another log. This time, I talked to them and they were argumentative, arrogant and rude. I would be very cautious in using Appalachian Tree Service - their attention to detail and professionalism is sadly lacking

Estimate was performed by Pedro with very reasonable price to remove tree ($500) and grind stump ($100). Pedro informed that he would call back later the same day with date to perform work. He did call back that afternoon with date and time (after 11:00 am) on July 31. Work crew appeared on July 31 at 12:30 pm. Forty foot tree was chopped down, removed and stump was ground within 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was very impressed how the 3 person crew worked together and brought all the proper equipment. As branches were being removed and the trunk was being chopped down, I was also impressed by how the crew emphasized safety and careful techniques. Efficiency was amazing. Even neighbors commented on the quality job that Appalachian performed. I would highly recommend Appalachian Tree Company to anyone who needs professional tree removal.

Business must be very good at Appalachian Tree Company, because customer service isn't first on its list. I called after a storm broke a branch off of a large oak tree in my yard. It fell right onto another tree and is hanging there, precariously. A second part of the same damaged limb grows directly over my roof. I am worried the limb may break off in another summer storm and crash through my roof. I called around for estimates to fix the problem. Appalachian's estimator came out as he said he would, and left the written estimate in the door to remove both limbs. The estimate was a little less than the other two, so I called the number on the form to schedule. Great! I don't want to leave a potentially dangerous tree branch hanging over the yard and over the house. I left a message on the estimator's cell and waited a day. No call back. Well, maybe they were very busy after the storm, working bigger jobs? I called again, and left a second message. Again, no return call. I wondered if I had done something incorrectly, so after the weekend -- now five days after receiving the estimate from Appalachian Tree Company -- I decided to go to the top. I called the company's office number and talked to their representative. I explained patiently my dilemma -- I got the estimate, I made the calls, but no callback from the estimator and so nothing scheduled. I NEED to have this potentially dangerous problem fixed. She told me to sign the estimate, scan it, email it to her at the company's email address, and she would get things rolling. So I did. Day Six: no communication from the estimator or from Appalachian Tree headquarters. Day Seven, today: I called the office. What was happening? The office rep, who reminded me that she wasn't responsible for scheduling, but said she would call the estimator. Five minutes later, she called back. The estimator told her he was on a big job for the rest of the week, and couldn't take care of the tree in my front yard. So -- after a weeks' time I am now stuck. In just one phone call Appalachian Tree Company could have told me in under a minute that it couldn't after all fit me in, maybe I'd better find another company. But the estimator never even bothered. And the office rep, who really could try to make things and quot;rightand quot; here, didn't offer any solutions to my problem. Is this a Big Deal? In the Big Scheme, not really. But companies that treat customers with disrespect in situations like this, I believe, are not deserving of customers' business or loyalty. So, the next time one of my neighbors, my friends at work, my family, or my many local and quot;friendsand quot; on Facebook and Twitter needs tree work done, the first thing I will tell them is: Do Not call Appalachian Tree Company of Mount Airy, Md. Maybe they'll get back to you...and maybe they won't.

Everything went very well! The initial response time was almost immediate. The price was very reasonable. The crew was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. The crew arrived when they said they would and the job was completed in less than 3 hours--amazing! Because the trees and limbs were hovering over and/or touching the house, I was concerned about possible damage. My concerns were soon allayed as the job was done without even so much as a light and quot;thumpand quot; on the roof or against the house. The tree and limbs were hauled away and the cleanup was thorough. These guys really know how to get the job done! I have several more trees that need to be removed. Appalachian Tree Company, Inc. has won my confidence and I will certainly call on them again.

Contacting the company and scheduling for someone to come out and give us a quote was easy and done quickly. Obtaining a few other quotes from competitors we chose Appalachian and scheduled to have the work done. Tree removal from the backyard was done well with the debris removed and the stump and roots ground down. Tree trimming for one of the trees was done as per the quote with the offending branches being removed or trimmed back. Tree trimming for the second tree was had some obvious dead branches left overhanging the power lines. When coming out to collect payment I met with their representative and showed him the issues. He said he'd have a crew out to correct the mistakes. The next time a crew was in our area (approximately 4 weeks after the initial appointment) a crew did come by and clean up the tree. One branch which was overhanging the lines was pointed out as dead (it is hollow and has no leaves) was still left overhanging the lines after the second trip. Overall we were pleased with most of the work and would have given an A had the job been completed correctly the first time or correction had been a little more timely and complete. We would gladly use Appalachian again for tree removal, maybe for trimming.
