Incredible experience
Description of Work: This is the most incredible company that I have ever hired. Dan Roberson returned my call within the hour, made an appointment, showed up on time and gave me an estimate that was lower than the two other companies I interviewed. He was way more knowledgeable and I hired him. His son Ryan and crew showed up at the job on time and started the work immediately. I couldn't be happier, they vacuumed my attic, dissenfected, installed baffles, air sealed and then blew in insulation. While they were in the attic they found tears in my Ductwork and repaired it at no charge. This was a big job and this company cleaned up everything. As you can tell from this review I'm thrilled and on top of everything my house is warm. Thank you, Quality Insulation.

They were marvelous. They were very, very good. They did everything they said they would plus we had an electrical problem with the lighting in the ceiling when they left and they paid for the electrician to come out and make the repair. I would recommend them to anyone.

I emailed Dan over the weekend and he called me back on Sunday night (of the same weekend) to set up a time to see the project site. We settled on Wednesday for him to come see it. They cut a hole in the floor in my closet to access the crawl space, and after determining there was enough clearance to do the job, we settled on the next day to complete the project. Dan's team really did an amazing job. They were all incredibly responsible and courteous. Not a speck of insulation was left after they were done. We thought the project would only take until about 2pm, but given the size of my crawl space, the team worked until after 6. Dan also explained that part of the attic space could not be completed without cutting holes in the back bedroom ceiling every few inches. So despite the additional hours required to complete the job, Dan ended up charging me about $300 less than the estimate because the upper length of the house couldn't be completed. I'm delighted with the results.
Description of Work: I have a Capitol Hill row house that was completely rebuilt in 2003 -- but without any insulation. My floors were like walking on ice trays. Moreover, moisture from the crawl space had led my floors to warp. The upstairs had no insulation either, and as a result, my electric bills had gotten completely out of control. Quality Insulation was able to access the crawl space underneath my house and lay down a vapor barrier and install insulation the entire length of the house. This was a remarkable feat, as the clearance in the crawl space was very low (down to about 6 inches towards the back of my house). The second part of the job was insulating the attic space of my house with blown-in insulation. This also included wrapping the inside of a very drafty skylight.

Dan came in and gave me an estimate. He was very prompt. He was very professional. I spoke with him about using my storage space in the attic. He suggested that I put some plywood in the rafters to store my big items like my extra siding and my extra molding. And he even offered to buy the stuff for me and put it up there at no cost, besides the cost of the materials, which he did. I'm very happy with the service. He was very nice. He was very professional. He called me to tell me when he was coming and he was on time.

Everything went great. Originally I wanted to insulate the ceilings throughout the condo. That estimate was $5400. It was fair, but I realized after the fact I could not afford it. Dan was very understanding gladly offered provide a new estimate for less space. Dan and his team did the job on a Tuesday, while I was at work. Thanks to Angie's List referrals, I felt comfortable leaving them alone at my apartment. They stuck to their estimate of the time necessary to complete the job (9am-4pm). They cleaned up completely after the job. I have since been enjoying my warm and quiet condo. My only regret is that I did not find Dan 2 years ago when I moved here! I really wish I had found him earlier. My husband and I tried insulating one wall on our own, and for that reason I know that Dan's rates are unbeatable. He and his team are very courteous, professional and hard-working people. I will definitely recommend them to anyone I know looking for help with insulation!
Description of Work: Dan and his team blew ClimatePro insulation into 2 walls and ceilings in 2.5 rooms of my condo. My condo was built without insulation, and the ClimatePro was blown into the walls/ceilings in the rooms that were the coldest and that had the greatest problem with noise from upstairs neighbors.

Dan and his crew arrived on time, laid plastic, checked for air leaks, set up a barrier around a fan, put in the insulation and were done in the exact estimated time. No mess was left. The work was done well and expeditiously. All was handled pleasantly and professionally.

The project went very well. Dan Roberson is a pleasure to work with. He explained how the process of insulation would work. He answered all of my questions. The price was also comparable. I also talked to him about other projects in my house and he even gave me some recommendations. The crew was efficient, neat and pleasant as well. I would recommend this company and will also use them again.

His crew is courteous, neat and efficient. I was amazed at Mr. Roberson's responsiveness, grateful for his advice, and impressed with his team of workers. Work was completed within a week of initial contact, the price was very fair - all in all a far better experience than I have had with other home improvement projects.
Description of Work: I had an interior sprinkler system installed and pipes must be protected from freezing. Mr. Roberson's crew laid batts over the pipes in the attic crawl space as is required (no insulation should be beneath the pipes) and then blew loose insulation on top. Because the batts were required, the cost was about double what it would have been with the blown insulation alone - which would have been fully adequate for heat retention. Insulation resulting exceeded Maryland recommendation of R-49.

Dan and his crew came right on time and finished the work that morning. Looking over the results after they left, it exceeded my expectations and appears to fully meet what we had agreed to. Cost was as per estimate, but instead of allowing me to pay through my on-line banking system, wanted payment in full by check at that time. No problem there at all, just different from my normal practice. Overall, I was very satisfied working with Dan and his crew and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Dan reviewed our insulation requirements, and, without bad-mouthing (and in some cases complimenting) the previous insulators, pointed out what he could do to bring up our R values to a reasonable level. His crew filled the attic with insulation to an R value of 49, and filled cracks in our crawlspace with foam.

It took a little longer than anticipated (1.5 days rather than 1 day). Dan stuck to the estimate even though the quantity of insulation was far higher than any of us could have imagined. That was good for the purpose I wanted to improve the insulation as much as possible. Workers (finish carpenters) were very professional, competent and outcome focused.
Description of Work: Added insulation in attic and under kitchen floor. This required some creativity, as the attic has recently been remodeled but without INSULATION!!!!! We had to take down some of the wall-board (carefully, to put back) and blow in lots of insulation. The kitchen was built on a poured cement slab, which becomes ice in winter. Dan and crew figured out a way to blow in insulation between the slab and floor above.

It went very well. Dan is genuninely interested in doing the best work possible. He also knows the positive impact consumer websites like Angie's List has on his business. I wasn't home when they blew insulation in my ceiling but my neighbor noticed they were very efficient. Dan followed up with a courtesy call to wrap up the transaction. One day after the transaction, my recessed lighting was flickering on and off because of the insulation. I called Dan on a Friday and didn't expect a call back over the weekend but he called me Sat and Sun AM-- he was very intersted in fixing the problem ASAP. He had an electrician come to assess the problem the following week. The electrician talked to Dan and within 2 days, Dan and his team came back to take out the insulation around the lights. Although the lighting problem was preventable, I don't fault them; I give them credit for expertly fixing the problem. I'm very happy with the results and with this customer friendly company.
Description of Work: Dan and his team blew climate pro insulation into my 460 sq ft condo's ceilings. They used a hole saw to cut 12 symmetrical circles in my ceiling and using a hose routed in my window from the truck parked in the alley, they blew climate pro insulation in the holes. They cleaned up after themselves and put plugs back in the holes. They also took out insulation near my recessed lighting when it was realized there was a problem. They didn't spackle and paint the holes per our agreement to save me money.

DAN AND HIS CREW DID A WONDERFUL JOB!! HE ALSO RECOMMENDED AN ELECTRICIAN WHO INSTALLED A GABLE FAN IN ATTIC FOR 300.00 INCLUDING THE FAN AFTER OTHER ELECTRICIANS TOLD ME IT COULD NOT BE DONE FOR LESS THAN $500-600 DOLLARS. Dan Roberson and his two assistants came to my house about an hour after we had arranged, 9:30 on a Monday morning. The plan was to cut a 2' x 2' hole in the ceiling, have a guy crawl into the space and spray insulation into the space. But my house does not have a crawl space--this was a surprise to me and Mr. Roberson. It was discovered when the hole was cut. Mr. Roberson allowed my to climb up the ladder to inspect the situation. He explained that my only option was to have his guys cut 4" round holes every 16" in a line that stretched from the front of my house to the back. He told me the adjusted price (basically an increase for labor) and said they could complete the job the same day. They worked hard, covered floors and furniture (and computer) with cloth or plastic. They pumped lots of insulation into the space between beams. They plugged the holes with the same material they had cut from the ceiling. To help me save money they left the spackling work for me.
Description of Work: Dan Roberson's assistants cut multiple holes in my ceiling and sprayed fiberglass insulation between roof beams. They packed about 14 bags of insulation into the small space (not even a crawl space) between my ceiling and roof.

Flawless. This was the first of three contractors we expected to have visit. After this contractor offered a good price and same-day service, we canceled the other two visits. Everything, including cleanup and installing the hole closure, was done within 24 hours. They removed their debris (mostly from cutting the hole in a ceiling) very nicely. They also reinstalled an old window that had to be disassembled in order to bring their hose into the house. I had not expected them to reinstall the window, so it was most appreciated. On price, we have no rigorous basis for comparison. However, from a comparison with other insulation project reports in Angie's list, this contractor's price was at least fair and could be a bargain. We had planned to wait a couple months to file this report, but it is already obvious that the job was done perfectly and the insulation is very effective. We expect energy savings of at least $200 per year.
Description of Work: Insulating the attic of the 66-year old home we bought a year ago in Silver Spring, MD. The second floor of our home seemed exceptionally cool last winter, suggesting that we had little, if any, insulation in the attic. The work was done on 30 April 2007. The vendor cut a X' hole in a bedroom ceiling (for $50) to access the attic, and blew in 14 inches of fiberglass (JM "Climate Pro") insulation (for $973). They installed a total of 15 bags=450 pounds, Mr. Roberson said, to bring the insulation value to R44. He arranged to have one of his crew separately install a simple hatch closure for the hole, at an additional cost of $100.

The job went very well. Mr. Roberson met with us to discuss the job and give us an estimate. He was very helpful in determining how much insulation we needed to add and whether or not to add insulation to exterior walls of the house. He described the work that would be done (including clean-up, checking for things that might need to be fixed, etc.), indicated when the crew would arrive and how long they would stay. He then showed up with his crew on time and was done in just a couple hours. I especially appreciated his willingness to do the job on a Saturday when we were off of work. I would definitely recommend him to friends.

Hiring Quality Insulation was a great experience. Mr. Roberson and his co-workers were courteous, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help out in any way that they could. Mr. Roberson also gave me some advice on some other home improvements that I could make to help with my problems (cold in back room, sound reduction) that I installed insulation to combat in the first place. It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Roberson, and having him install insulation put my mind at ease. I knew that he was being fair, doing what he needed to do, and would not take advantage with me. I have since used Mr. Roberson to refer me to other like-minded contractors, and had one of his employees do some additional work for me. An all-around great experience.
