I was very impressed with Mr. Roberson's responsiveness. I hadn't had any luck with the other people I had contacted. Dan called as soon as he was back from vacation and we began work soon thereafter. His crew was polite, quiet and fast. My third floor is much cooler now.
Description of Work: Quality Insulation installed high reflective insulation in my attic and wrapped all exposed ductwork. They worked quickly and were very professional.

They showed up on time. The performed their work professionally. They were very neat and orderly. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Dan Roberson came out to the house and did a through inspection. He provided me with a reasonable estimate and agreed to come back in three days later to perform the work. The timing was critical since I wanted to the work complete before I moved into my new home. They provided insulation for the entire attic.

Dan and his team arrived at the scheduled time and quickly began work. They found and filled a number of holes in the exterior walls of the attic, and then blew in the fiberglass. Despite the tapered roof line, leaving very little space between the ceiling and roof in the rear of the house, Dan's crew was able to access the entire attic from the hatch in the front, eliminating the need to cut 1-2 holes in the rear ceiling (and the subsequent repair work and clean up). They completed their work and cleaned up within a few hours. Dan and his team were punctual and professional, and I would recommend them without hesitation.

It went well, there was some misunderstanding in the basement insulation as I expected the area between the floor joists to be filled with foam insulation but the contractor just filled the gaps in and between the concrete blocks and the floor. However, the price was extremely good and the did the attic quickly and professionally. They even sealed the attic opening while working to avoid getting the house dirty. When done, they completely cleaned up, even the little insulation that spilled outside by their blower.

Great! I called Dan late Monday afternoon to get an estimate and he came over within the hour. Since his estimate was $1,000 less than our other estimate, we signed on. Dan and his crew showed up Wednesday morning at 7:00 AM as promised. The crew was quick, clean and relatively quiet. They were finished by early afternoon. Dan came back out and went over the work with us. He even added foam insulation to exposed areas of basement ceiling at no charge and told us how, for a couple of hours and several cans of insulating foam, we could pop up our ceiling tiles and do the rest ourselves. The cost for this work in a competitors proposal was about $500. The difference in the comfort on the second floor of our home is amazing. The upstairs ran 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house and one small room was 15 degrees warmer. Now, the main portion of the upstairs in just a degree or two warmer than the main floor and the small room that was unbearably hot is only a degree or 2 warmer than the rest of the upstairs. I'd definitely recommend Dan without reservation. The competition proposed additional work that Dan believed was not cost effective. Based on the results of the work he performed, I'd absolutely agree with him.

Dan was a very nice man. They insulated my attic with 19 inches of insulation to bring it up to R49. They came during inclement weather and showed up on time. Everything went smoothly. It turns out I wasn't totally prepared for the service as I did very little research. Months after they insulated the attic I had a whole bunch of questions. I called up Dan and I was very surprised he remembered who I was. He assured me that they had sealed the perimeter walls and that I would have no problems with ice damns in the future. He even said, "if you have any problems, call me and I'll take care of it." I was impressed. Good job. I would recommend that he consider creating a form (sort of like when you go to Jiffy lube) marking off exactly what they checked, found, and did. It would be very informative to the consumer. Would highly recommend.

This is apparently a small father-and-son company. The son, a 6'10" ex-Pittsburgh Pirates professional baseball player who is just learing the business, arrived as scheduled to look around and give us an estimate. He was cordial, pleasant, knowledgeable, and inspired confidence. Very low-key. No sense of salesmanship - just a provider I felt I could trust. He gave a written estimate. He returned on the appointed day with two helpers, each of whom I talked to, and each of whom was as pleasant as their boss. They laid ground cloths through-out the area in which they worked and cleaned u afterward. The installation went without a hitch, and their were no "extra charges" in spite of some little extra services. Would that all home improvements were so easy!!!

Our experience with Quality Insulation was outstanding from start to finish. Dan Roberson called back right away and and scheduled a visit to evaluate our problem. We already had received an evaluation from another insulation contractor but what Dan recommended seemed more likely to address our needs. His bid was reasonable and he was available to do the job right away. Dan and his crew arrived promptly at the scheduled time and got right to work after putting down dropcloths to protect carpets, etc. They worked efficiently and finished the job in a few hours. When they couldn't do exactly what Dan had proposed in one area, he explained why and and told us what alternative they would take. Dan and all of his crew were very professional. We would definitely recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Ice-damming during last winter's severe storms caused significant water damage to some ceiling and wall areas in our two-story detached home even though we already had "ice & snow shield" under ther roof shingles. We contacted several insulation companies to see what they would recomend to help us avoid a recurrence. We ended up selecting Quality Insulation, who installed additional fiberglass batts and blown-in fiberglass insulation to beef-up the insulation R-value in our attic.

I had gotten 2 other estimates from other companies- Dan's was definitely the best price with the best product. The estimate had been done by someone else who may have given me a lower estimate than he should have but Dan honored the price quoted. He and his team were very prompt, laid down tarp to keep the carpet clean, kept the worksite well sealed off, and cleaned up after themselves very well. The only thing that I can say in the negative is that we had marked off three areas to 19" which is the level of insulation we were to get. One mark was completely covered but two were short by about 1-2 inches. If I were to do it again, I would mark off the areas together with the crew before they start so everyone could confirm the right markings.
Description of Work: Had fiberglass insulation blown into our attic which only had about a 3-4 inch base of previous insulation. He also foamed around one pipe in the basement where it exited the house.

I wanted additional insulation for a guestroom over the garage because its a little cold in the winter and a little hot in the summer. I assumed this was due to the fact that it was over the garage. My daughter is having a baby in mid-July and we wanted to turn this guestroom into a nursery. We initially thought there wasn't enough insulation in the garage ceiling to insulate the guestroom adequately. The contractor drilled a hole in the garage ceiling and saw that there was actually enough insulation. When he looked into the attic there was only 2 ft of insulation and that was the problem. The contractor, Dan Roberson, his son, and his two workers did all the work in about 2 - 3 hours. They were very polite, helpful, and neat. They were excellent! Dan even referred me to someone to install a fan in the attic and also a painter. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Dan Roberson is very personable and professional. He came to quote on the job the day after my initial phone call and the work was completed the following week. His team arrived on time, quickly set up and got to work. They fixed back insulation that had fallen down and then covered the entire ceiling and wall areas with a reflective cover, and then piped in foam on the floor in both attic areas. They did an amazingly neat job. When I expressed a concern about some insulation that hadn't been put back up Dan had no hesitation in coming back to fix it, even though he said it made no difference to the insulation level. I have noticed that the family room, which is underneath the largest attic and was always the coldest room in the house is now much warmer. We await the summer to see how much cooler our bedroom will be.

Dan and his guys were incredibly responsive, professional, honest, and downright friendly. Dan was coming from an earlier job, and he gave me a courtesy call 30 minutes before he arrived so that I could stay at work until they were ready. They arrived and carefully laid down drop cloths and plastic over everything. Dan explained how the insulation would work and stayed there the whole time. At my request, Dan called to get two estimates on spackling and painting the ceiling plugs, and then candidly told me that he thought the estimates were too high. For noise reduction purposes, I decided to cover more square footage than I originally had anticipated, which resulted in a bit of sticker shock. But overall, I was incredibly pleased from start to finish. I definitely would use Dan again and, if the insulation reduces noise as much as I hope it will, I'll have Dan insulate the rest of my place.
Description of Work: Blew insulation into my bedroom ceiling to reduce noise from my upstairs neighbor. They cut out small 4" plugs from my ceiling every foot or two, blew in the insulation, and reattached the plugs when they were done. The whole process took about 3 hours.

Quality Insulation did a fantastic job. They arrived on time, did a thorough and professional job, and cleaned up after themselves. The blown-in insulation used was applied in a very even layer throughout the attic and the attic entryway (folding stairs/trapdoor style) had a wall of batt insulation constructed around it to hold back the blown-in insulation. High-R reflective plastic insulation was used to form a cover over the entryway to prevent energy loss in that area, yet allow periodic access. Dan's team also sealed the many draft points in our basement walls. I'm very pleased with the results.

We live in a 20-unit coop building. A friend of one resident recommended QI and Dan, and suggested we check out his Angie's List recommendations. We did so, and saw that he had received approximately 75 ratings, and all were A's! On the day of the job, Dan called at 7:13AM to say he'd be arriving "late," at 7:18AM or so, which he did. Despite there being cars parked illegally in what was meant to be his trailer parking in front of our building, he rigged a short-term solution that kept the project alive until the other cars were moved/towed. After 14 hours on-site, including trips to get 100 feet more tubing and 75 more bags of insulation, the job was completed successfully. We had provided a difficult job and a complicated job site, but the work was done with professionalism, creativity, and courtesy. We recommend Dan and Quality Insulation without hesitation.

Dan and his crew were fantastic. Dan came out to do an estimate the same day I called him. He and his crew were able to come out the next day to install insulation. When Dan and his crew came out to do the job, they discovered that they needed to cut another hole and apply a lot more insulation than originally anticipated in one wall in the attic, but Dan did not charge any more for all the extra materials and time required. The crew was very professional and hard working. Our upstairs was about ten degrees cooler than downstairs before the insulation was installed. Now the house is toasty warm and the temperature throughout the house is much more constant.

We had some difficulty in getting Dan out to our house due to his very full schedule, but once they started the job Dan and his crew did a great job installing the insulation, and it has made a big difference in the comfort-level of our home. They left no mess, and while they were installing insulation he realized that he could install a higher rated one and did so while retaining the original estimate. This gave us a bigger tax write off for the materials used. Great company, great work.

Dan was very efficient and was able to pinpoint the problem we called him about right away. He gave us an estimate that seems reasonable, and we might use his services in the future. However, after he left we realized that even if we got the insulation taken care of, there is an entryway to our living room that is extremely drafty and would still be a problem in terms of keeping warm. It would have been nice to have learned some suggestions on how to fix that problem. Though, fair enough, it wasn't what we called him about...but we realized why pay $1400 for insulation if there will be a draft from another source right next to the area of concern that we'd also have to fix? So...we still may use him at some point, but need to figure out how to address the other problem. Was just surprised he didn't mention it.

Response from Quality Insulation
I spoke to the member on 1-21-10 to ask why he wrote a negative comment about me on Angie's List and he told me that it must have been his wife that wrote the comments because he didn't know anything about it. When a customer tells me that they have cold floors I always take a look in there basement or crawlspace to see what the problem is. I told the members that they needed to have the old insulation removed and have foam installed around the rim joist. This is to prevent any air from coming up from below. This almost always fixes the problem of feeling a draft. We were going to install another layer of insulation because they didn't have enough and of course a 6ml vapor barrier on the ground to keep any moisture from coming up. Last we were going to reinstall there old insulation which actually looked new. This is what they should have had in the first place. I gave them a price of 1,399 to do the job which I thought was very fair and that I would be using 4 people to do the job. This way I never miss anything. Finally if you look at the other 73 responses on Angie's List you will see that anytime I ever find another problem that isn't addressed I always fix it and i never charge my customers a penny more. These were very nice people and I just don't understand why they wrote what they did. If a customer is looking to have an Energy Audit done on there home there are companies out there that perform that service. I always ask the customer what seems to be the problem and I try to address it to the best of my ability. Just like all of my customers on Angie's list if I had done the job they would have loved it. Sincerely, Dan Roberson

He was very accommodating, very professional, and just a really super nice guy. They showed up on time and finished on time. My house is cozy and warm. They were very clean and very respectful. They were just amazing. His price was fair for the job that he did. He and his team had to crawl in a 3-foot crawlspace under the entire expanse of our house to put insulation. It was a very difficult job.
