Dan worked around our schedule, was here when he said he would be, and his team was here to install when promised. They did an excellent job, and the house was as clean when they left as when they got here. Price was reasonable, and Dan exceeded all expectations!

We were ready the week of Thanksgiving, 2012 - Dan remembered us! He came out the following Monday to get reacquainted with our attic - we set up the appointment to have the attic insulated at noon on Wednesday of the same week. A few minutes before noon Dan and his crew of 3 or 4 chaps arrived ready to start the job. They covered the floors in the area leading to and around the work site. They were very careful in our home - even sealing the area around the window where the hose entered the the house to blow in the insulation. They were finished in a couple of hours. They left our home spotless. The weather has been rather mild and we've not yet received a gas bill - but we think the place feels cozier and the furnace doesn't seem to be firing up as often. We had concerns about a particularly drafty area in the basement - Dan took a look - spotted a long very narrow space between the floor and the ceiling in the laundry room. He filled it with some sort of sealant & the draft was GONE! He did this free of charge! We HIGHLY recommend this company!
Description of Work: Dan Roberson of Quality Insulation was one of 3 companies we interviewed about 3 years ago to insulate the attic of our 60 year old home that we'd just moved into. Our attic had absolutely no insulation. Dan, by far had the very best presentation of knowledge, competency and price. He was very knowledgeable about ecologically friendly products and products safe to use for folks with allergies. We kept his estimate - unfortunately as new homeowners we had multiple expenses and were unable to do the work immediately in 2009. But we knew we were going to use Quality Insulation to insulate our attic and get advice on any other insulation the house may need.

Dan responded immediately to our initial phone call, came out to provide an estimate on the weekend, which worked best for our schedule although he had been willing to come out sooner, then performed the insulation installation several days later. His crew was polite and completed the job an hour earlier than estimated. His assistant, Mike, was also polite and friendly. Our upstairs is now warm and cosy.

He was very prompt and professional and was able to come by my house within 48 hours. He visually inspected the attic and looked over my energy audit before describing his recommended services. He quoted me a price of $2100 for the above services, but declined to use his company as his price was almost double the other bids i received (2100 vs 1060 and 1000). In addition, he does not participate in the utility rebate programs, which the other two companies did. These rebates allowed me to receive a 50% rebate on the energy improvements to my house (PEPCO is my utility) and my total out of pocket cost ended up being on $577. Thus Quality Insulation's price was almost 4x the price of the company I ultimately chose. Good guy, prompt and efficient, but way too costly for my project. Make sure to check with other insulation companies and investigate if you are eligble for home energy efficiency improvement rebates from your utility company.
Description of Work: Requested a quote for air sealing attic( top plates and party walls too), insulation increase from R30 to R49 (blown in fiberglass over existing fiberglass batts), and installation of baffles in an interior townhouse. Quote received was for $2100

Response from Quality Insulation
My customers tell me about these Pepco rebates all of the time and the contractor usually charges 3 or 4 times as much as I do. I decided to look up the proposal that I gave to this customer. I will be more than happy to forward a copy. This is what it says. Air seal attic. 175.00. Install High R Reflective Insulation to side wall. 275.00 install Climate Pro Insulation ( not Cellulose which is newspaper ) and the attic was brought to R-49. 1,271 The customer says I was charging 2,100 but my Proposal shows that I was charging 1,721 for everything. My question is why can't you just be honest. If the customer didn't need air sealing or High R Reflective Insulation it would have cost 1,271 for the best product out there.

My first contact with Dan was quick, and he agreed to come look at the attic on my day off. He gave me an estimate based on installing baffles, insulation and an access cover. On the day the work was performed they showed up on time and went to work quickly. They were professional and took care not to damage anything in my home while they worked. They left my home clean and I am happy with the insulation they put in the attic. The end cost was less than I was quoted because they did not have to install baffles.

Dan Roberson came to give me a quote and explained what he would do in addition to blowing insulation into my attic. He was prepared and on time. The day of service, he called before he came and arrived on time with his crew; they were very neat and organized. They also installed reflective foil on the wall where there was attic access to keep the heat out in summer, foamed around all the recessed lights and changed my bulbs for me! There was an area that was inaccessible so Dan reduced the price about $125. They were finished when they said they would be and left my home in perfect order. I liked that Dan didn't try to sell me more than I needed and explained what materials he uses. He answered all my questions. I was very satisfied. I'm glad I found him on Angie's List.

I really like to take my time before I decide on a particular company to perform a service at my home, and after talking with Dan Roberson on the phone and meeting him in person, I knew that Quality Insulation was the way to go. I feel like I did my homework by reviewing Angie's list reviews and had several estimates before making a final decision, and I'm very happy that I selected Quality Insulation. Dan's years of experience and knowledge of the business became clear from the initial conversation through the end of the job. After witnessing the job from start to finish, it was quite obvious that any initial thoughts that I had about trying to do the job myself would have been a bad idea. In particular, since I need both of my attics for storage, I couldn't simply rely on basic blown-in insulation, but instead needed a combination of both blown-in insulation and high-reflective insulation (which reminded me of bubble wrap covered in a metallic space blanket-type material). Dan's crew of 3 workers (who each had approx. 10 years experience working with Dan) arrived on time and immediately got to work. While I had emptied one of my attics in anticipation of their arrival, I was still needing to unload my other attic when they got to my house. The crew helped me as I unloaded the other attic to make things go faster and quickly got to work. The insulation in my attic prior to Dan's arrival was essentially non-existent, so I needed a full complement of insulation. The crew worked efficiently to air seal (with spray foam) any holes or openings in my attic and then began the process of laying the high reflective material over the attic floor boards. Essentially they built a box that would allow me to store whatever I needed in the center of the attic and blew in insulation under the storage space flooring and on the sides of my attic where I didn't need to store anything. In addition, they built a covering above my pull-down attic staircase that allows me to appropriately cover that opening before I close up the attic hatch. (I mention this fact because other companies that provided estimates raised concern that they weren't sure they would be able to even insulate that part of my attic because of the odd design/placement of the staircase. Thus I was pleasantly surprised to see how the workers built a customized enclosure over my attic hatch.) Dan's crew was very polite and clearly showed that they had been doing their line of work for a long time, as the quality of their work surely showed. As the 3 men worked on the 2 attics, Dan remained on site for the majority of the time to ensure that the work was being performed appropriately. Once the job had been completed, Dan and his crew left my house without leaving a trace behind...you wouldn't even know that they had been here, let alone worked to install blown-in insulation, layed high-reflective insulation, and air sealed 2 attics over the course of 5 hours. After having worked with Dan and Quality Insulation, it was clear why his company has hundreds of extremely positive reviews on Angie's list. If you're in need of insulation for your attic, I highly recommend Dan and Quality Insulation to do your work -- you won't be sorry. Thanks again to Dan and the Quality Insulation crew for getting my home ready for winter.

Dan always responded promptly. He'd done so many houses in my neighborhood of Springfield that while he was driving he was able to tell me how to figure out how much the job would cost. His rate was almost 20% less than the other quote I had received. He arrived on time and his crew quickly and professionally completed the work. There was a small surprise in that he men weren't able to access a section of the attic as planned so they needed to cut a hole in the ceiling. Dan immediately contacted a reliable person who would repair the hole at a reasonable price w/in 24 hours, so we put the plan into place everything went according to plan. Insulation is the only business that he and his crew do and they depend positive reviews like those in Angies List so he is careful to ensure quality work and satisfied customers.

Dan and his crew did an excellent job insulating the attic of my home. He was on time and friendly as he showed up to review the work that was needed and provide a quote. The attic renovation is on a tight timeline and he was very responsive to my timing needs. He was able to complete the work within three days of my acceptance of his proposal. On the day that the work was scheduled he showed up on time again and reviewed the scope of work with me again to make sure that there was a common understanding. He and his crew worked the entire day and stayed late to complete the job in one day (which I very much appreciated). The work was very well done and the crew left the work area very clean (no debris). A professional job all the way around. I would use Dan again and am comfortable recommending him to others.

Quality Insulation lives up to its name - quality. From start to finish we received excellent service. Dan arrives to give the estimate and is wonderful to talk to - no big sales pitch, just years of expertise put to good use with a realistic and down to earth survey of the situation and subsequent recommendation for service. We had to reschedule our original service time due to some of our own home repair projects, and we were rescheduled quickly once our schedule allowed. The day of the service, Dan and his crew of two men and the supplies arrived very promptly and quickly got to work. They were neat, tidy, and even laid out drop cloths on the floors. The whole job took about 4 hours. The workers cleaned up nicely when they left and we are now enjoying a toasty warm house with good blown in insulation keeping our heat where it should be. We are more than pleased with the whole experience and highly recommend this company to anyone looking to update/re-do/fix their insulation.

Dan arrive with his crew exactly on time, he assessed the condo, and gave me the exact price and timeline. He said his men would protect everything and they did, it took from 7:30 in the morning until 6:00 at night, with just a quick lunch break, which Dan bought for them and offered to buy for me, too!!! He is very nice and makes sure that the job is done right. he told me it would not make the space soundproof but would improve the noise from above units and would improve my energy use. The energy bill hasn't arrived yet, but the unit doesn't come on as frequently and the noise from outside has been reduced as well as some of the noise above. He probably lost money on me, because he had to use much more insulation than anticipated, but he never waivered from his quote to me and true to his word, my house looked as if nothing had happened. The ceiling has drywall patching required, but my painter said that Dan's crew made the repairs exactly right. I would do this all over again based on this experience and recommend him to anyone.

During our recent home energy audit, we were informed that the insulation in our attic was insufficient, so we contacted Quality Insulation because of the large number of positive reviews on Angie's List. Dan was very responsive when we contacted him about providing a quote for adding insulation to our attic. He came out on a Saturday morning, took one look at the attic, and confirmed that our insulation was minimal. He gave us a reasonable, itemized quote and explained what each item was and why we needed it. SInce we already had fiberglass insulation in the attic, he suggested adding more fiberglass on top of that to a total depth of 19in. He also suggested adding high reflective insulation around the skylight. He and his crew arrived at the appointed time (which was 7AM) a few weeks later. They covered the furniture near the attic access and the floors where they would be working. Dan said the job would require 4 hours, and they finished on time. They also provided me a mask and invited me to inspect the insulation after they were finished. I could see they had insulated the skylight as promised, and there was abundant fiberglass in the attic. He charged us only the amount originally quoted, and did not try and sell us services we did not need. If we paid by check instead of credit card, he offered us a 2% discount on the overall cost as well. Overall, we were pleased with the experience. We would definitely use this company again and would recommend Dan to our friends.

(1) Dan and his three-person crew of longtime employees (11+ years average experience each ) arrived essentially on time but Dan called to tell me they would be slightly late because customer on first job and requested extra work while they where there. No problem for me, because Dab arrived shortly thereafter. It was considerate of him to call and I appreciated it. 2) Dan and his three employees looked the job over thoroughly and agreed among themselves the most effective way they could get their their equipment in and out of the job without disturbing anything, and then they made sure I agreed. 3) Dan and his crew were completely professional is how they interacted among themselves, and with me. The wore the proper hats, gloves, glasses, white suits, and breathing masks for the work they were doing. They cleaned up as they went. 4) Dan reviewed all my estimated square footages and my estimated costs using the cost per sq ft. figures he had quoted to me over the telephone a few days before; however, when Dan looked at my figures and the costs I was prepared to pay, he discovered I had made a $1,300 error in the cost of the total job, in Dan's favor. He had me reduce the amount of the check I was planning to write by $1,300 to the proper amount, so I can say Dan saved me $1,300 before the job even started! An honest main and trustworthy crew also. 5) The crew did their work in about 3 hours, and they were so quiet I forgot they were here. 6) When they finished they held the laddder for me so I could climb up and look in the attic at the very beautiful jobs they had done. They also fixed another couple of air leaks for no cost, while they were here, including foaming some the toplates in my unfinshed basement. When they were finished I walked everywhere they had worked and I could not find s spec of dust. 7) Dan and his employees are a true 'team' and have obviously worked together for years. They take their work seriously and would not leave until they made sure I was completely satisfied and had no more questions. 8) Angies List comes through again!!!. I recommend Dan Roberson and his Quality Insulation Team 110%, no reservations. It was a pure PLEASURE doing business with such nice, polite PROFESSIONALS. They 'under-promised' and 'over-delivered.' Many Thanks to Dan and The Quality Insulation Team.

Dan is a no frills and no big sales pitch type of guy. He assesses the situation and tells you exactly what you need. He also guides potential clients to the pros and cons of regular insulation vs spray foam, wool and paper as well as not needing to vacuum up our old insulation (no mold). His crew came promptly to the work site as scheduled. They laid tarps on our floors so that the men did not track insulation or dirt though our home. The workers entered the attic space and conducted another inspection to ensure that the work could proceed. No issues were detected. The entrance areas to the two attics are trimmed with the R Reflective and covered for added insulated protection. You could remove the attic doors and no drafts were felt. When the job was completed the workers cleaned up the areas. Dan inspected the work and asked me if there was any additional concerns I might have regarding the work performed. In the end, I highly recommend Quality Insulation and thanks for a job well done!

Dan and his team did a fantastic job. Our new home did not have any insulation in the attic. Quality insulation came out and within a few hours air sealed and insulated our attic. They provided about 1000 lbs of blown in insulation. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I came home from work and could not tell that we had workers in our house. Dan and his team did a wonderful job. He inspected the existing insulation and showed my husband how it definitely needed replacing. The crew had protective clothing to work with the fiberglass insulation. They sealed holes before installing the new fiberglass insulation and after they used foam insulation to seal up any openings. The final step was the reflective covering to keep everything sealed tight. It was done quickly and efficiently and they cleaned up. It was so clean you would never know they were there. We would highly recommend Quality Insulation.
Description of Work: We needed insulation under our sunroom addition which is elevated. Dan, the owner, responded to our call immediately and provided an estimate on the phone. This seemed unusual at first since he didn't see the job before pricing it. However, it makes sense if you have been in the business as long as he has and the pricing is pretty basic since it is based on square footage. In addition, Dan installed a reflective cover over the insulation to keep it sealed tight.

Dan and his crew did an excellent job. They were very neat and respectful of their surroundings. They laid down canvas drop cloths and they cleaned up after themselves. On the day that serviced my house, it rained. But because I have a carport they were able to complete the work. The duct work was an add on. I knew that the ducts were sweating but had no idea of the magnitude. The insulation was completely soaked. The crew removed the old insulation on the scheduled day and came back the following day and installed new and better insulation. Additionally, Dan recommended and purchased a much-needed dehumidifier for the basement. It made an immediate difference in the air quality there.

Dan responded to my request through Angie's List within 48 hours. The estimate was easy to schedule, he arrived on time and reviewed the insulation needs of our home. He recommended sealing and insulating the attic and weatherizing the front door. The estimate was very reasonable. A month went by before I was able to get back to Dan about the estimate, but he remembered our initial meetings and agreed to come out the next day to do the work. I wasn't able to be there while Dan and his team worked, but we discussed where I was to leave the key and he promised to call when he got there. He also took before and after pictures which he emailed to me while the work was being done. He also called to make sure I got the pictures and mentioned he let the dog out, which made me very happy. This is one example of Dan's friendly professionalism and how he exceeded my expectations. He also sealed the basement while he was there, which he didn't have to do, but was appreciated and did not charge me extra. Dan also emailed me a week later to thank me for the business and offered to be of future assistance.

This is a very professional small business. The owner returned my call on the weekend on the same day I called. He scheduled an estimate the following afternoon (Sunday) and completed the insulation job the following day (Monday). It was such a quick and efficient turnaround. He also gave great advice in terms of type of insulation, how long it would last, and where it would be appropriate for my needs in the home. He's easy to work with and also goes out of his way to not only do his job but also made minor fixes around the house as his guys worked. He sent photos of the work, so I could see the different stages of the insulation. I would highly recommend Quality Insulation. They did an excellent job!

Got there early on Weds as promised and got right to work, very professional and quick, had the work done in just a few hours and cleaned up everything, cant even tell they were there aside from the actual work performed! Great service, great work ethic, and very friendly, I would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: Had main attic and smaller crawlspace covered with additional insulation due to insufficient amounts that were in place when I purchased the house. They put down a nice thick layer of Climate Pro Insulation in the attic and covered the access hatch to prevent heat seepage as well.

Excellent, they were on time, clean, well organized and finished on time.
Description of Work: Insulated the attic, installed baffles, and but down reflective insulation in the area I use for storage.
