It was done on time, with minimal intrusion (it took about 3 hours), and I was given an opportunity to inspect the work. The supervisor was on site the whole time. Very professional.
Description of Work: They air-sealed two attic spaces and blew in about 15 inches of insulation. Additionally, insulation sheets were replaced in my basement at the top of the cinderblock walls and cracks were sealed with foam. The dryer vent hole was also sealed up with foam. They fixed the venting of two bathroom fans so they vent to the outside. As a little extra they installed a reflective barrier in my fireplace (which we don't use and it leaks heat out).

Mr. Roberson and his son had great communication with me all the way: from the initial estimate to the actual work being done. His son Ryan, who heads up the insulation crew, was punctual and the crew was very clean conscious. I had slightly overestimated the square footage of my attic, as Ryan had gone up into the attic to inspect and then laser measure the attic. He had also taken photos to show me the condition of the attic insulation. The original owner had some batts down between the joists but it mostly blown in insulation. Ryan explained to me that the level was low as the photos showed that the top of the joists could be seen. The crew was quick and clean. They used drop cloths over the upstairs hallway carpet and they blew in R-30+ insulation (I can't quite remember the R value but it was in the 30s). In addition, the crew also sealed around the attic opening to prevent any cellulose dust from seeping into the house. At my mom's house, which had roughly 1,650+ square feet, Mr. Roberson also threw in attic sealant for free for my elderly mom and Ryan's crew also used blown in cellulose insulation with a high R value. They were fast and clean. The job at my mom's house was a little over $2,300 and mine, including attic sealing, was a little over $1,000 as my townhouse attic was pretty small, roughly 600 sq feet. The temperature difference between the downstairs and upstairs has been dramatically reduced and the insulation is doing what it's supposed to do. Quality Insulation was fast and clean for the jobs. They also provided us with the before and after photos of the attic, which was a plus.
Description of Work: This is late in posting, but in May I had Quality Insulation upgrade the attic insulation in my townhouse. Additionally, I hired them to do the same for my mother's single family house in June

I was originally searching out someone to fix an unrelated problem (lack of proper soffit vent baffles in my attic causing poor ventilation and other problems). Inquired with several other providers since I was unclear if I needed a roofer or some other type of professional to do the job. Then finally I spoke to Dan at Quality Insulation. Went over my needs and he was very honest and realistic with me about the fix. In a flash of rare insight for me, I realized it might be simpler, cheaper, and better to allow him to just bring my attic insulation up to current standard and have him bundle several other jobs at the same time (fix bathroom fan exhaust ventilation, the soffit baffle issue, some mold due to excess moisture, and probably a few more I forgot) rather than getting them all done piecemeal. And was that ever a right decision to ask him about handling everything. In the end I got all my laundry list of items fixed AND my attic insulation brought up to code at basically the same price as I would have spent just to have the fixes done and without having to involve several other contractors like I probably would have needed to do otherwise. Sure it was probably a PITA for him to handle those other small jobs but he went the extra mile so that I didn't need to. He didn't need to do all that to get my one measly insulation job, but he's the kind of guy who seems like he really cares about your overall satisfaction more than making an extra hundred bucks or two on a job. The referrals he gets from happy customers like me more than make up for his trouble and extra effort. I had also just had a whole-house energy audit performed by a different company and thus knew what kind of work would provide a good return on investment. Dan basically summarized a list of recommendations that matched closely what was already prioritized on the energy audit and "reality checked" a lot of the rest (and the crazy 'price subsidy' scheme involved with the audit). He beat all their prices even with the rebates factored in and I didn't have to purchase stupid "package fixes" that included stuff that didn't really matter. I'm going to be having him come out again in a few months to do some other jobs (like turning my crawlspace into conditioned space for comfort and energy savings) which he also gave very fair pricing to do. In the end I'm feeling really good about the value Dan provided. He solved a bunch of problems for me and did it basically at cost since he was already onsite. My house is more comfortable and I was able to put an end to that set of problems.

Dan and the crew of Quality Insulation were great. Dan was very kind and explained the work that was needed and guaranteed that my husband and I would not have to have to worry about insulation again. He is honest which is important to me and gave a good affordable price for the work. The other companies that I called before I called Quality Insulation wanted to charge twice as much for my insulation. The workers respected my home and the process was very clean. If you need insulation I would highly recommend Quality Insulation.

If there was a grade higher than an A, I would give it. The team did a beautiful job in record time. They also identified ten non-IC-rated recessed lights that they covered. They ensured that no insulation came into the rest of the house and left the attic cleaner than it was when they arrived. It is a pity that their workmanship needs to be covered by drywall.

Quality Insulation provided high quality work at a very good price. Dan Roberson, the owner of Quality Insulation, is an excellent professional who is extremely easy to work with and who does high quality work. I first contacted Dan Roberson when I found out I needed to remove loose insulation from above a bedroom ceiling where the drywall was collapsing. Dan answered the phone himself. He was very pleasant to talk with about my problem, gave me good information about alternatives and described the work he recommended in a way that was easy to understand. He was able to schedule his crew to be at my house the next day to remove the insulation. His crew was very professional, covered everything very well, they worked quickly and efficiently, getting the job completed in less than an hour. They did an excellent job. Dan was very helpful in talking with me about alternatives for putting back the insulation in our attic after ceiling repairs were completed. His explanations and advice were invaluable in helping us make a decision about what to do for insulation in our 35 year old attic. When Quality Insulation returned to put new insulation in the attic and complete an upgrade of all of our attic insulation, they again performed the work professionally, were very neat and clean, and completed the job in just a few hours. Dan Roberson’s crews are very impressive in the way they go about their work and always mindful of minimizing any impact on your home. We would certainly use Quality Insulation again and also would highly recommend Quality Insulation.
Description of Work: Quality Insulation performed two services for us this year. The first was to remove 35 year old loose insulation from our attic so that we could replace the dry wall ceiling that was falling down in one of our upstairs bedrooms. The second visit was to Air seal the attic; foam the top plates; install high R reflective insulation over attic hatch door; Foam all electrical and plumbing penetrations; and install new Owens Corning L 77 blown insulation in the whole attic bringing the insulation rating up to R-49.

When Dan Roberson came to my house, he looked up in the attic and in the basement to see what insulation was needed. He then went through the other company's recommendations line by line and explained to me what each meant and if he thought they were necessary. Many were not. He also told me that the cellulose the other company recommended is basically newspaper that has been treated with chemicals so it won't be flammable and it will settle quite a bit over time. He said he thought fiberglass would work better for us, especially since our side attic has had some leaking in the past and fiberglass is not as affected by water. The baffles Quality uses are more expensive than the other company, but Dan explained they are better quality. By the end of this process I felt like I had a much better understanding of both company's recommendations and Dan convinced me his was the way to go. The drop in price by more than half helped in the convincing. Dan is a character and enjoyed showing me the glowing reviews his company has gotten on Angie's List. I had already done my homework and seen some of these and reviews elsewhere, all very positive. After going through this process with Dan and the following week with his son when the work was done, I can see why. Dan was able to fit us in the following week, once we agreed to have Quality do our insulation. They arrived on time and asked if they could run the tubing to blow in insulation through our front window. They covered our floors from the door to the entrance to the attic and got to work. Dan's son listened carefully to my concern that a walkway be left through the insulation to get to our fan if there are any issues with it. He ended up leaving some of the plank uncovered so we could see where it was and be able to uncover the rest as needed. When the work was done, Dan's son showed me before and after pictures and they cleaned up very well. I can't recommend this company more highly, for price, quality of work and what a pleasure it was to work with all involved.
Description of Work: I called Quality Insulation after receiving a ridiculously high estimate for insulating our attic and unfinished part of basement from a company connected with Pepco's Energy Audit. I wanted Quality to see how much of what had been recommended was really necessary and to get another estimate to compare with.

They arrived on time and immediately got to work. They put protection down everywhere they were going to be working. They sealed all vent and pipe and wiring penetrations in the attic, then added enough blown-in insulation to bring it to R-49 specification. The workmanship was outstanding and I've never seen a better job done with this type of insulation. They cleaned up so well that you would have never known they had ever been here. I would absolutely recommend this firm to anyone looking for attic insulation.

Quality Insulation was amazing. After the first phone call, Dan replied whilst on vacation and stopped by that Sunday morning. After providing a very reasonable quote that was significantly lower than three other contractor estimates, Dan also was very straight forward with advice on what we needed. We are first time home owners and it was a breath of fresh air not having a contractor upsell us things we didn't need. After a couple of weeks, we called to schedule installation and Dan's crew came by the very next day at 7:30am. The team was professional, quick and spotless. They provided before and after photos and even saved us money by not installing something we didn't need. Now that's quality service and work.
Description of Work: We own a rowhome in the Capitol Hill area and needed insulation put into our attic (about 750 sq ft). There was very little left from the years past and we were having trouble retaining heat in the winter. We had fiberglass insulation piped in to get to up to code, air sealed the attic and had our big skylight wrapped.

This is a very professional outfit. They know what they are doing and do it extremely well. We were kept informed of where they were in the process, what they would be doing, what time they would show up each day and when they would be done. They left the attic spotless when they were done and there was no debris for us to clean up. We are very pleased with the outcome and recommend them highly.

From the initial consultation to flexibility of the appointment to the actual installation of the insulation...everything was just outstanding. Dan walked me through the process before I got the quote then he sent me a fair quote and told me to call when I was ready. On the day of the service the team (Ryan, Vidal and Arnulfo) came on time they got right to it, the guys were really great making sure I knew what was going to happen. They put plastic wrap up around the attic to ensure cleanliness, worked fast, and cleaned everything up before they left, when they left you could not tell they had even been here. I think the entire process took maybe 2 hours or so.

Dan came himself to write out the quote, and was both timely and informative. Once the quote was written, it was adhered to. He didn't try to push for excessive work or material, but instead told us what he thought would work best for the least amount of money. They finished the entire project in two days, and were exceptionally clean. Comparing the last month's energy cost versus the same time last year, we saved nearly $100. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: We bought a row house that needed insulation under the first floor throughout the house, as well as insulation in the front wall. The kitchen was built on a concrete slab and thus couldn't be insulated by normal rolled insulation.

We used Quality Insulation twice and there was only one item that could have gone better. Quality Insulation insulated our attic in our renovated rowhouse. The developer forgot to insulate the attic (oops!) Quality insulation pumped insulation up there. Their guys were great about making sure the insulation was spread throughout a very shallow attic. We had Quality insulation (QI) back to reinsulate the floor under our kitchen. The area used to be a sleeping porch and the insulation installed there did not seem to be doing much. QI reinstalled insulation there the right way and the floor became much less drafty. The one complaint I have is that there is an area under the floor of the bathroom that is still overly affected by the outside temperatures. That is the one area that was sealed up again before I got outside. I would have liked to see what was going on there related to the plumbing and the amount of insulation able to be packed in there. Between the floor being drafty there and the toilet conducting cold from the outside, that bathroom gets cold quickly. Besides that mystery, I was happy with Quality Insulation.

Dan's team did a great job and his son was on site the entire time. There was no high pressure sell, and Dan took the time to explain the insulation and flooring options available to me. I have referred him to my family members.
Description of Work: Dan and his team removed old, soiled insulation from my attic, put in new spray fiberglass insulation (Owens Corning) to bring me up to code (R-49), made a walkway to my gable fan, and built a floor for storage and covered both with insulated reflective material (see photos). Looks great and now I have an easily accessible space to put items in my attic. No more stepping carefully on 2x4s and holding on to rafters to get to my fan and no more sections of plywood loosely laid about. I couldn't be happier with the work they did.
