These guys are fantastic. Dan was very responsive, and gave me a great rough breakout over the phone of what I could expect . This in and of itself was great because it gave me an preliminary idea of whether they were the right guys for the job without having to schedule time to meet them at my house. Once I was ready to do the work, Dan and his team arrived soon (I had a close deadline I'd wanted to get it all done by), right on time, and were done in just the amount of time they said they'd do the job. I'm no trained house-builder, but the work looks great, and Dan sent me pictures of the whole process. They also attended to the little details like covering the floors of their path through the house. It wasn't just that they did a great job, though-- they went above and beyond what they said they were going to do, and, since the highest compliment I can give them is repeat business, I'm going to have them back to do some insulation in my ceilings. The only drawback was that they weren't able to haul away all of the debris, but I knew this beforehand, so it's not like they didn't do something they'd said they were going to. details like

Used Angie's List to contact the company. Got a call back within a few minutes*. Original prices were somewhat expensive, but based on my own specifications. Dan called me later to educate me on why what I was asking for was actually overkill and spending more money than I needed to spend He then designed a very acceptable solution, bringing the quoted costs in line with my available budget. Even though my home was out of his usual service area, he had an open day, so he arranged to come out within a very short time frame. Dan and his crew showed up right on time for the job, brought their own drop cloths to make sure that the interior of our house was protected from outside shoes. Not only are they professional and expert in their jobs, they're also very friendly and easy to work with. When they finished the attic job, they made a point to show me photographs of their work and even took me upstairs to see it for myself. The new insulation looks and performs exactly the way it was meant to. The house was noticably warmer within just a few minutes. The experienced and conscientious crew cleaned up after themselves and, other than the temperature increase in several rooms, you never would have known they were here. This is exactly the kind of vendor I love to work with and love to recommend. * I found out when they came for the job that Dan, the owner, had actually been on vacation when my quote request came in. He called me from his trip and arranged everything before he'd even gotten home. That's what you call AMAZING customer service.
Description of Work: Cleaned out old attic insulation that was no longer functional because of insect infestation. Corrected insulation problems caused by the original builders, which left our attic seriously under-insulated and the rooms around it 10-15 degrees colder than others down the hall. Installed new insulation to resolve energy loss and significant temperature gaps. Went above and beyond on every single thing they promised. I would recommend them 100%.

Fine. No hassle. Dan's a character; we need more non-homogenized folks like him. They cleaned up afterwards.
Description of Work: Dan and his crew weatherized our attic. I am an engineer and a certified energy auditor, so I was a little more picky than most customers. Dan understood exactly what I meant when I asked about air sealing before insulation, and the density required using dense-packed blown fiberglass to acheive effective air sealing. They also foam-sealed areas not available for dense packing, even where I had precaulked romex and vent stack holes. He also immediately complied when I asked for baffles to vent the soffets before insulating behind the kneewalls. I ripped up some floor boards to inspect their work, and confirmed they did a good job. I also cut hole in the knee wall to see whether they provided the promised R-49 even in areas not easily visible. They did.

After placing a call to this company, they returned my call within minutes. I happened to be working from home and they were able to come out and give me an estimate within hours of my call. The quote was $800 less than a previous quote I had received. Two days later, the guys came out to install the insulation. They were 10 minutes early and got right to work. They were very professional and cleaned everything up when they were done. As they were finishing, I realized that my back gate was left open by a contractor who had been there earlier and the dog had gotten out. Mike, who made sure the job was done right, went so far as to walk the neighborhood and bring my puppy back home.

Overall, the job was done very well. Dan's team arrived on time, and their first order of business was to place drop cloths around the house and also plastic sheeting over furniture & other items near the attic & crawl space access points. Dan thoroughly explained what each team was doing and took pictures of their progress along the way. The crew arrived around 0700 and wrapped up just before noon. When the work was completed, Dan encouraged us to inspect the spaces. All service items were cleaned, and house was left in great condition. After having the insulation installed, we've noticed a huge difference in the way our house hold heat. The floor above the crawl space is no longer frigid, and the upper floors stay at a comfortable temperature throughout the day. All in all, very pleased with the work and would definitely recommend Quality Insulation.
Description of Work: We had three major areas of work done -- main attic space, crawl space, and the attic above the garage. Dan came out to the house and inspected all three areas to scope out the work. In the main attic, the entire area was air sealed and additional insulation was blown in on top of the existing insulation (which was original from when the house was built in 1984). For the crawl space, which was the main area of concern, the entire space was air sealed, lined with plastic wrap, and then reinsulated. In the attic above the garage, a reflective barrier was installed on the wall adjacent to the house.

I called to get a quote and my call was immediately returned. Dan came out on a Sunday and explained the process of how they would be able to blow the insulation 20 feet from a hole cut in the ceiling. Since I was renovating the house, he explained my options if my house had space within the exterior walls, which upon inspection, the house did not (old plaster onto brick). They came out that Thursday and did the entire job of insulating the space between the roof and the ceiling in less than 1 hour, which included set-up, blowing the insulation, covering the holes in the ceiling, and cleaning up. Overall a great experience.
Description of Work: Add insulation in the limited space over two bedrooms of an old historic row house with a flat roof (I wouldn't call it an attic since there is no access to the space). Holes were cut in the ceiling to blow insulation to a value of R-49.

I called Dan asking about his insulation services and I ended up with a lot of useful information; stuff I can do myself like foam insulation in my electrical outlets, etc. and Dan dropped of at my house insulation wrap for my 2 fireplaces, that I can stuff up the chimney plume. There were no strings attached Or even a sales pitch for anything. Once I go though the list if stuff he gave me; .I'll definitely have him come back for the bigger insulation projects around the house..

Talked to Dan in the phone on Monday and he came out with his crew on Wednesday. He didn't try to pressure me like another company on angies list and he was $600 cheaper. Dan and his assistant Michael were a pleasure to talk to. The crew was quick, put drop cloths everywhere and there was no mess left behind. Dan and his crew went above and beyond and didnt charge to secure the ceiling drywall before blowing in the insulation. I would recommend this company if you want honest affordable service.

Dan and his crew arrived promptly and began work immediately on insulating the crawlspace. Everyone was professional and Dan was great to talk to during the entire process. He even took a look at my basement and helped seal a small area at no additional fee. All the work was completed in about an hour, and they arrived early in the morning, so they did all this without impacting my work day. I will definitely be using them again for any future insulation work I need.

During an energy audit, the auditor noted our house would benefit from better insulation. We contacted Quality Insulation for an estimate. Dan came to the house and looked at every area of the house that likely would need insulation. We reviewed our options, set up an appointment, and had insulation installed in the crawl space, basement, and garage. Dan's team did a great job and cleaned up after the work so well you wouldn't have known the work even took place. Moreover, they notified us of a small drip in our crawl space that we were able to have repaired before it became a big problem. Their work actually looks good and it shows they pay attention to detail. We found Dan to be personable, his team thorough, and we would use them again if needed.

Dan's team were on time and covered all areas that could be affected by plastic wraps and put drop cloth all over the path. Dan walked through the process and answered the questions and concerns I had. His staff were very professional and got the work done in 4 hours. The attic is now rated at R49. It has been six months since the work was completed and we are seeing the benefits of the added insulation. Despite the bitter cold, the house remains at a nice 68 degrees during the time we are there. The electricity bill has dropped considerably over the past six months. I would strongly recommend Dan and team wholeheartedly.

This was my first time using Angie's List and I was very impressed. It took a lot of pressure off of me to do extensive research. I looked at who had the highest amount of reviews and Quality Insulators was the company. Even though I also called another company from the reviews I guessed this would be the company for me. After speaking with Dan and he told me the price as well as giving me services the other company was going to charge for and his price being $200 lower with more to offer I was sold. Not to mention the other company was trying to "sell" me items rather than fix a problem which is what Dan set out to do and he did just that. I spoke to him on Monday he was out at my house ONE HOUR EARLY and was done within 2 hours!! They made sure to lay cloth down and not to dirty my carpet and cleaned up nicely afterwards. They even came to get me to have me look at the final product. It was quick nice and easy. And we felt a difference instantly!! Even my dad and mom who were visiting noticed and my dad is a hard man to please!! I thoroughly enjoy the new insulation and really appreciate not being taken adavantage of as I am a new young hom owner. I highly recommend Dan and his crew to anyone! Oh and one more thing Dan gave me a quote over the phone but said we will do exact measurements once he arrived. I asked if the price would change he said I will let you know when "we" do the measurements together so there will be no surprises. And he did just that took me around the house and showed me how he was going to meausre and come to find out the cost was $100 less than the original quote! In addition he also showed me other issues in my house that he was going to fix at little or no cost!! Great experience!!

Excellent service, and we're very happy with their work. Dan came to do an estimate on a Saturday, no upselling, very straight forward. I found Quality Insulation on Angie's List and I contacted the company's owner Dan Roberson via email to schedule an estimate. He quickly responded and we set up the appointment for a Sunday morning. He was highly knowledgeable and was able to quickly diagnose the situation and recommend a solution. He checked the attic and informed me that it had virtually no insulation at either end. He recommended adding blown-in insulation that has sound deadening properties to help abate a recent increase in traffic and airplane noise in my neighborhood. He also recommending air sealing the attic and offered to thoroughly inspect the house for any gaps or leaks. He had a job already scheduled in my area in a few days and offered to come over when that job was finished. The crew arrived precisely at the scheduled time and got to work. They covered the section of the carpet the crew needed to walk on prior to the start of the job and they took care to leave the area as clean as they found it. They were finished in about an hour. The upper level of my townhouse is definitely warmer and the added insulation has reduced the level of street and airplane noise. I'm not sure about my heating bill yet, but my bedrooms are warmer and my heater doesn't seem to be turning on as frequently. Everything went as well as expected, and I have only positive comments for Dan and his company. In my experience, Dan was extremely flexible and went out of his way to make the process simple (even coming over on a Sunday morning for the estimate). I highly recommend Quality Insulation.

I found Quality Insulation on Angie's List and called them up to get a quote. Dan was quite responsive and although he was out of the country on vacation he still contacted me through Skype to schedule an estimate. When Dan arrived for the estimate he was prompt, quick, and very polite. He measured the area and gave me his recommendation. We discussed alternatives given my budget and reached an arrangement to get the best insulation that my budget could afford. I didn't shop around to get other prices as I felt Dan was great to deal with and seemed to be honest and professional, so I have no idea if he is expensive or reasonable. Sure enough, on the day of the job his team arrived and applied the 38 R insulation and were able to fix 3 of the 4 doors (they actually sealed the door that was small for its frame pretty well, but the fourth door had an unusual frame that couldn't be sealed). Finally the left the place as if they were never there in terms of cleanliness. And now the house feel a lot warmer and the HVAC heater is working much much less than the last winter. I have yet to see the impact on the bill, but I expect it to be significant. If you need to install insulation I think that Dan would be a great company to hire.
Description of Work: I bought a house with a relatively large square footage area of about 2,400 sqf but the attic had no insulation whatsoever, which was the biggest finding of an energy audit that I performed. Thus, I needed at least 38 R insulation and preferably 42 R. Additionally, I had four access doors that were leaking air, two of them quite significantly. In fact, one of those doors had a large gap as it was too small for its frame and an estimator once suggested replacing the door is the only solution.

Dan Roberson came out on a Saturday morning to give me an estimate for insulation in the attic space over our office/bonus room, where there was zero existing insulation. He was very personable and the price quoted was great (especially with Angie's List discount!). Dan and his crew came on Monday to do the work, which only took a couple of hours. His team got right to it and air-sealed the office from above, then put up reflective insulation all along the wall against the living space bordering the attic and blew in ~19 inches of insulation above the office area. The temperature difference in the office was noticeable immediately!

Enthusiastically recommended. This was actually a second company I called for an estimate. They were prompt, friendly, and professional, providing a much more reasonable estimate than their competitors along with a full explanation of what would be done and how. Scheduling the work was a breeze. They are very accommodating. Two days later, a work crew of four showed up promptly at 7am, worked solidly and professionally for six hours, and left the house spotless. Also, we were emailed before and after pictures of all attic areas -- they clearly pride themselves on quality workmanship. Of special note: the estimate is what you pay, regardless of how the job develops. In our case, the work crew found a whole section of attic not noticed when the estimate was done. They filled the area (lots of extra insulation) and still charged the original estimated amount. Also of special note: This is a very dog-friendly company. They don't just tolerate dogs -- they befriend them! All in all, this was a remarkably pleasant experience. And now, at long last, our big ole drafty house is remarkably warm and cozy, just in time for the holiday season. Can't wait to see the next heating bill. Wish we'd done this 10 years ago.

I called Dan for an estimate, based on the company's reviews on Angie's List. Dan actually came to our house at 6.30 a.m to accomodate our schedule. He quickly provided us with a fair estimate, and we scheduled the work for the following week. Dan and his crew showed up right on time, and laid down carpets and plastic sheeting so there would be no dust. The work was completed quickly, ahead of schedule, and the place was left spotless. I called Dan Roberson on a Saturday morning and was fortunate to get him on the phone right away. He was in the process of giving an estimate to someone else when I called but agreed to stop by later. He showed up as expected and within minutes he saw the job that had to be done and we agreed on a price and an installation date (the following Friday). On Friday, he called to tell me that he was running about an hour late because the company that delivers insulation to him was running behind schedule for some reason. His crew of 3 or 4 arrived as planned (9 AM) and proceeded to lay out carpet covers in areas they would be walking on. They opened a window overlooking the driveway and brought in a flexible hose through which the insulation was brought into the house and blown into the attic. The whole job took about 3-4 hours and Dan was there for at least half the time. I saw what a totally professional job his crew had done when they declared the task completed and I could not have asked for anything more. I am really happy with the way this project went through and the cleanliness with which it was performed. I recommend Dan and his company very highly and would gladly call him again if I ever need the same job done at another residence. Most satisfied. I would rate this as one of my best experiences in dealing with a contractor. Thank you Dan.

Dan Roberson was very involved with the project from day one. He came by for a free estimate on a Saturday and quoted what seemed to be a fair price. They were able to schedule the appointment for the following Wednesday. Prior to the appointment, I called Dan a couple times to discuss the soundproofing nature of the insulation and he was very prompt and professional in returning my calls, even dialing in his supplier to talk through some questions about the soundproofing qualities of the Owens Corning insulation that Dan planned to use. (The supplier promised to look into this issue and get back to us but we never heard back.) Dan and a team member showed up at exactly 7 am on the date of the appointment and began drilling holes in the basement ceiling. They also took pictures of the empty space and showed us the void between floors. They left around 9:30 and another team (led by Mike) showed up at about 1 pm with the blowing machine and insulation. They put insulation in the ceiling and also stuffed some batts insulation in the utility closet which I thought was one of the main sound corridors between the floors. The team worked hard and finished up around 8 pm or so. The insulation seems to have improved the warmth in the basement, and I imagine my utility bills will be lower as a result. For that, we're certainly grateful. However, it's difficult to say whether it improved the sound meaningfully. Footsteps seem to be more muffled, which is good, but voices can still be heard - quite clearly in some areas. After the company left, I spent a number of hours stuffing additional batts insulation into the HVAC closet and installing soundproofing panels on the door between the basement and the upper floor. Both of those efforts seemed to have just as much effect as the insulation installation. I suspect that there is only so much that regular blown insulation can do in terms of soundproofing. If you have a serious sound problem, I would suggest spending the money on ripping off the ceiling and installing soundproofing panels or other types of materials. My only other issue is that the company no longer will patch and paint the holes, as other commenters have suggested. They did plug the holes cleanly, and I mudded, sanded and painted everything over the next couple of days. So you'll need to be prepared to either do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you. The bottom line is that I liked Dan and his crew a great deal. They worked hard, and we're happy insofar as the insulation helped with the temperature gradient. If we were to do it again, we probably wouldn't spend the same amount of money on the insulation to try to address the soundproofing.
Description of Work: We recently bought a renovated bungalow, which includes a rental unit in the basement. The original renovators didn't include any insulation in the ceiling of the basement, which allowed sound to travel between floors. We hired Quality Insulation to install insulation in the 12"-16" space between the basement ceiling and first floor.
