So today ended a long, sad, COLD saga that had a happy ending thanks to Kyle and Comfortable Home. We bought this house back in October and during the inspection learned that there was only 4" of insulation. So, instead of having the seller fix it we took a credit and would fix if later because of the rebates offered by Potomac Edison. Big mistake... Lots of stuff going on with the move turned into a freezing cold nightmare. Finally we contracted with The Mark Group based on a family recommendation. That was in December. Unfortunately they went out of business a couple days afterwards and Inspired Green picked up my contract. They struggled for weeks trying to get the work scheduled but apparently because they are NOT on the Potomac Edison list it was doomed. I finally had enough and asked for my deposit back and they complied. Now I need to find someone else. Went to Angie's List this time and vetted the contractors on Potomac Edison's site. Picked three and got quotes. All three were great. Very responsive, friendly and knowledgable. First to contact me was Kyle. I also talked to Frederick Air and High Performance Homes. Availability was my first priority just due to the extreme cold, with estimated cost a distant second. I really liked all three and Kyle was great when he came out. All three were in the same ballpark and High Performance and Kyle had similar timeframes. Larry at High Performance had more reviews. So I went with them because I wanted to limit my risk of another delay Within a few days, Larry called back and said that because the Mark Group wasn't part of the Potomac Edison program their audit wouldn't be accepted and a new one would be needed. This would push me into late March due to his crammed schedule. Larry was great. Very up front and understood that I was going to keep looking for someone who could do it quicker. Picked up the phone and called Kyle who said he could have me installed in a week with a full audit. He came out the next day, did the audit, sent the document (which looked great) and had me scheduled for four days later. Kyle and the crew showed up on time, had the work done quickly , even did some extra caulking and tips on how to get the most out of our system and it is noticeably warmer tonight. Highly recommended. Wish I would have cut to the chase back in December!! Thanks Kyle!!
Description of Work: Kyle performed an energy audit and had insulation installed in my attic and a couple of other insulation measures.

Thanks for the great review [Member Name], it is very much appreciated. I am so glad that you are happy enough with my work to write a review. I know and understand that in our busy world it is easy to want to do something but to actually sit down and write a great review takes time and effort, so thanks again for finding and making the time. I am glad I was able to provide you all with a warm happy ending to your situation.

We had an energy audit done on our own several months ago because we knew that we needed some work done in the house and we basically wanted to know what we could do ourselves. He was here from nine o'clock till noon, checking everything and taking pictures and telling us, as he went along, what he was doing and what we could do to remedy it. He sent us a report in a few days with pictures showing us we needed insulation. When we had initially made an appointment with him, he called us two or three days before he was to show up and told us he was sick and if we could reschedule; we appreciated that because he didn't leave us in the lurch at the last minute and we didn't have any problem rescheduling. He was very professional. Apparently he had worked for someone else in the past but was starting his own business.
Description of Work: Comfortable Home Energy Audits did a whole house energy audit for us.

Kyle did the initial audit of our home and reviewed his findings with us before he left.Within a couple of days, he gave us a written report about his findings, recommendations to fix problems and an estimate for service coordinated by him.Kyle was informative about which solutions we could do ourselves, too.One of his recommendations for us was additional installation. He stayed at our home while the work was performed and communicated with the installers about every phase of the project.I didn’t have to worry about letting unknown people into our home because of Kyle’s presence. We fully expect to see savings on our next utility bill because of how efficiently the house warmed up when we turned the heat on this morning!Additionally, Kyle is courteous and prompt. He is knowledgeable about refunds through the state and even files the paperwork with your power company! We couldn’t have asked for an easier solution to this project.

We decided to do a home energy audit when we saw our electric bills going sky high. I found Comfortable Home Energy Audit through the http://www.mdhomeperformance.org/ website. When scheduling an appointment over phone, Kyle who is the owner of this company was very courteous and asked several questions to understand our reasons for doing the energy audit. During the appointed day, Kyle came to our house exactly at the appointed time. As the first step he reviewed our past electric bills. Kyle had all the equipments to do the energy audit, including the blower door and a very expensive infrared sensor camera (Yes, I asked him how much his camera would cost). His audit was very thorough. Since we were not familiar with the procedure, he was very patient to explain everything to my wife and me. After the audit he sat with us and gave us a number of very good recommendations. Most of his suggestions were very inexpensive DIY type of things. He even demonstrated how to insulate our power outlets. After a few days of his visit, he emailed a detailed report explaining all the specific recommendations as well as suggesting simple things we can do to improve the energy efficiency of our house. We saved his report on our computer and slowly implementing his recommendations one after the other whenever we have free time. If you are thinking of doing a home energy audit, I highly recommend Kyle and his company Comfortable Home Energy Audit.
Description of Work: To begin with, Kyle (the owner of the company) asked us several questions regarding our energy usage and our concerns. After the initial interview, he attached the blower door to our front door and started depressurizing the interior. After about 15 to 20 minutes and after reading the pressure gauges, Kyle started to inspect each and every window and other outlets in every room starting from the second floor to the basement. Basically he was looking for air leaking into the home. He showed me clearly all the air leaks using the infrared sensor. He also took the time to explain the remedial measures I can take to fix the problem. The inspection took about 3 hours to complete.

Thank you for the positive feed back, it is very kind of you. An extra thank you for posting it on Angie's List, I know it is easy to be appreciative of work that has been done but to take a few minutes out of your day to make a comment really means a lot to a small business owner.
