Called and emailed to schedule service. Received prompt call back and service was scheduled. On the day of, the window passed and no one showed up. I called the company and received a message that the chimney sweep quit and they are taking no appointments. I am sorry they lost their chimney sweep, but a professional company should have contacted me to tell me they would not be able to perform the service.

Have been using Canterbury sweeps for years. They are professional, prompt, and reasonably prices. They came, inspected, cleaned, and HONESTLY told what was needed and wasn't. Found them after another service told us we needed expensive repairs. I unquestionably recommend them.

My 30 year old home was built with a wood burning fireplace. The chimney has a terrible downdraft and we were rarely successful with burning wood in this fireplace. The smoke would never go up the chimney, always back into the house. Several years ago we converted the fireplace to a gas fireplace enclosure, vented through the chimney. This worked well the first two winters. The third winter was very cold, and I believe the drafting problem was causing the gas not to rise out of the chimney, and thereby setting off our CO2 alarms. We tried several things, but CO2 is just too dangerous to continue use of the gas fireplace. I researched this problem extensively, and decided to turn the fireplace back into a wood burning fireplace. I am prepared to sufficiently warm up the chimney before starting a fire, while cracking a window and turning off the heat in the house to promote the best airflow / draft for the fire. I had the gas fireplace removed, and the gas line capped off and removed from the fireplace. I called several chimney companies to come out to give me an estimate on removing the gas liner still inside the chimney, and replacing the cap on top of the chimney with a damper cap. I am so glad I called Canterbury Sweeps. Joe arrived on time, took his shoes off before he came into my house, talked to me to understand my desires for a wood burning fireplace. He removed the liner at no charge. It took him 5 minutes. He told me the damper was still in the chimney, and all I needed was a handle. He had a used one in the truck. No charge. He replaced the chimney cap with a "stainless steel" cap in about 30 minutes. Total charge, less than $200. He then thoughtfully gave me an education about how to build a successful fire - get the right wood, to start. He confirmed everything I had read about air flow for a good draft. He was so friendly, knowledgeable, conscientious, polite and a pleasure to work with! My husband and I enjoyed a beautiful wood fire that evening! This was a great way to start the weekend, especially after feeling berated and insulted by another chimney company (MCP) who came out to give me an over-inflated unrealistic estimate. Canterbury Sweeps is honest and trustworthy. It is so refreshing to find that there are still companies out there that have OUTSTANDING ethics!

Joe from Canterbury Sweeps arrived exactly when he said he would for the estimate ( which was very reasonable ) and right on time for the job . Did everything on the estimate . Joe did an excellent job . I give Canterbury Sweeps and Joe 5 stars and will use them again .

It was raining and he still came. Joe was really professional and knowledgable. He answered every question and explained what he was doing. He did a tidy and neat job, there was no mess. He did a really great job. I called them back due to another concern I had. He came out and resolved that issue as well. Once again he explained what could be causing the problem. I have used him 3 times now. 2 times to clean the downstairs wood stove chimney and 1 time for the upstairs to install the new liner. I would definitely recommend them. They are very good at what they do.

All preliminary diagnostic and data gathering work went well by a technician who was knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The subsequent part installation and repairs were efficiently performed by the same technician and we are very pleased with the outcome. Chimney was well cleaned with no remaining dust or soot. Old chimney cover had rusted almost through and was replaced with stainless steel cover for longer life. Joe was prompt and provided me with helpful information on the condition and how to use my fireplace. Scheduling the replacement of the chimney cover went smoothly once we understood that the receptionist is available from 6-8 in the evening. We will be calling them back for regular cleanings.

They were fine. They gave a report on the quality of my chimney. That was good value for the money. It was a professional inspection. The price was low.

They are great. I would recommend them to anybody. The guy came out and he was knowledgeable, he knew what he was talking about and he gave me what I consider a reasonable estimate. He came when he said he was going to and did the work. Actually he came out and put a chimney cap back on that was off and he didn't even charged me for it. So I was very happy. There wasn't anything that I did not like about him.

Technician / chimney cleaner was on time and did a great job - no mess at all. Provided a wealth of information on our chimney which was unknown to us as we just bought the house. quick but thorough safety check. reassured that all is now in working order. they went up on the roof and removed the cap to check the inside of the chimney. except for some small cracking in the outside mortar around the bricks, i was told the outside chimney is fine. the men were professional, couteous, and helpful.

The entire experience was extremely positive. The technician inspected our chimney and recommended a cleaning. He was conscientious about putting the vacuum outside so that the smell and noise wouldn't bother us, and he spread plastic and sheets across the floor to protect the carpet from the hose running from the window to the fireplace. The inside of the fireplace is visibly cleaner and he was very careful to put everything back exactly where he found it. When the job was done, he explained a few things to us about the type of fireplace and chimney we have, made a few recommendations for our future use of the fireplace, and advised us on our choices if we decide to install a wood stove. He was very knowledgeable and polite. He even made sure to remove his shoes before crossing the carpet.

They were very responsive to my phone calls to schedule quickly. The employee showed up promptly, was friendly, curteous, and really took the time to explain the possible reasons for our chimney's problems. He suggested a quicker, easier and cheaper fix first before recommending that we spend thousands lining our flue with stainless steel. Overall, this was a high quality, professional organization. We were very pleased.

Courteous and professional. Very clean, not a speck of soot in the Family room. Carpet was covered with plastic and ground cloth.
