Building codes have changed dramatically since the original porch was built over 30 years ago, which meant starting from scratch. Brad from Deck and Fence proposed a new deck enclosure that gave us 48 sq.ft more space than the original with a peaked roof instead of a shed roof, and it has made all the difference. What was a rather dark cramped space is now bright and roomy. We spoke to a lot of contractors before choosing Deck and Fence. Most of them were selling 'roof systems,' At least one other contractor told me I would have to hire an architect to design the space and then they would give me a quote (what!) - and their ballpark figure was 25% higher than the Deck and Fence quote. Deck and Fence built us a custom enclosure with roof from the ground up and we are nothing less than delighted with the finished product. The work was started on time, the team was professional and skilled, and the work finished ahead of schedule. The attention to detail was excellent. The new porch has become our favorite 'room' in the house.

My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of the work that was performed. The three guys that came out to the house arrived on time and started to work immediately. Joe, the estimater, came out originally and prompt, informative, and kept us aprised every step of the way. The crew chief was very polite and did a neat and professional job. I couldn't believe that they completed the job in one day. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs this type of work. It's so rare to find a company that does exactly what they state upon the initial estimate and stick to it. From start to finish, I would give them 5 stars!

The job went great! The deck and patio are better than I imagined! Brad, the project coordinator and designer, was on top of everything. He provided multiple design ideas and was with the job start to finish. Always available if I had any questions. George, who did the patio, was amazing. I would definitely recommend The Deck and Fence Company.

My wife and I were unhappy with the communication and project management regarding the installation of the new deck. We are busy professionals with two young kids and a dog. Before any work was started, I stressed the importance of giving us notice. Not only so my wife, and I would know, but we needed to coordinate with other trades doing work including a plumber running a gas line in the deck. When were signed the contract we were told seven weeks before they could start. After about a month we would receive a weekly call with an update on the schedule. To my surprise, one morning by wife and I find men in our back yard working. We had no prior notice whatsoever. Just the day before we were told that they were still a week away from starting. I was forced to quickly coordinate several people's schedule to accommodate the deck installers. As the installation progressed, the installers would leave to go on other jobs due to lack of materials. When I called to express my concern about that lack of communication and material delays I was very rudely told that I should be happy that that job is getting done. I would not recommend this company because of the poor project management and rude employee that made me feel like I was doing them a favor.

This company exceeded my expectation. Ray Johnston is superb in professionalism, customer service, and commitment. He handled the permit processing and kept me in the loop throughout the entire processing. The company's craftmanship is spectacular. Most importantly, the price of the 2 decks were priced fairly. The leading competitors were extremely high and could not compare to the Deck & Fence. I would highly recommend this company, you won't be disappointed.

It was fabulous! He came out and seemed very knowledgeable and gave me some suggestions. He made sure the contract was signed off on by the city as soon as possible. It only took about a week. It did not take a long time to complete the work. It is beautiful and sturdy and looks so much nicer than my old one. I had drainage problems before and pointed those out to him and he was able to fix the problem. My neighbors said the workers were very efficient and cleaned up very nicely. Ray Johnston was straightforward, responsive and very helpful and very professional.

This project started with talking to Mark about the deck design we had in mind and using his input on the best sizing to maximize the use of the materials and to determine the post locations to maximize the opening for the staircase. Mark was excellent in describing the process of the deck build, showing previous clients finished products, and making sure we were able to see samples of the materials we wanted to use in the design. After meeting with Mark, we setup a contract with the deck and started off the process. The Deck and Fence company handles all of the permits and provides the details needed to submit to an HOA. With the schedule they were a bit busy and had to schedule us out for early winter to install the deck but once that started it was complete in a little over a week. And that's with rain delays and other weather getting in the way. We had an excellent crew that came out and worked very diligently to construct a great deck. I highly recommend using the Deck and Fence and making sure to contact Mark about any future deck (or other!) design.

The permit process was the biggest delay. Once the work started the crew was on site at a reasonable hour in the morning and worked until dark. All work was professionally completed. The deck is beautiful. The pavers exceeded our expectation. The sales rep was helpful in explaining the process and keeping us informed throughout the job. He went over care of the deck and pavers as part of the walkthrough at the completion of the job. I would recommend this company to others.

We met with Joe from the deck and fence company to go over plans to build an approximate 300 sq ft deck to the side of our house. We were very pleased with the service that we received. Joe was very knowledgeable, easy to work with and did not try to up-sell us. In fact, we spent close to 10 hours with Joe discussing the various options prior to signing a contract. The work completed on the deck was very professional and thorough. We have received numerous compliments on the deck from our neighbors. The workers did a great job and cleaned up each evening prior to leaving. After the deck was complete Joe came by to do a final walkthrough. He answered any questions we had and let us know that we could contact him any time if we ever had any additional questions or problems. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we would be very comfortable using D&F again and recommending the company to others. In addition, Joe was great to work with and we were very pleased with our experience dealing with him throughout the project. Thanks Joe and D&F!!

I had several companies submit a deck design and contract price. Ray Johnston, the Project Coordinator, was very responsive and took the time to really get down on paper what I wanted. After the contract was signed, he continued throughout the whole project to be very accessible by phone and email, responding quickly to answer questions and resolve concerns. When the project began, the subcontractor, first name Elvin, was clearly committed to taking the time to do quality work. I could see little details and finishes, not requested by me, that indicated he wanted it just right. Any questions or concerns I had were resolved completely to my satisfaction. The entire job took about two weeks. The crew worked hard, were friendly, and kept the job site clean. I would highly recommend this company.

We worked with Joe Dembeck with the Deck and Fence Company. He met with us and provided an estimate based on our desires within a couple of days. He provided us with several choices and was knowledgeable, professional, and responsive. We found we couldn't have the deck built in our desired location after we met with Joe. He promptly returned our deposit and did offer alternatives that just didn't meet our needs. He was very friendly and easy to work with. Should we need these services in the future we will not hesitate to call Joe.

I obtained four estimates to replace a second story deck. This company was not the cheapest but the difference in cost is worth the quality of the build. The crew was hard working and did a great job in building a maintenance-free deck. The LED lighting is a great feature. Very satisfied with the product choices. I currently have the nicest looking deck in the neighborhood. The collars at the base of the footing on the patio was a nice finishing touch. See photos below. My sales person was Steve. I had many issues with Steve and would not want to work with him again. I finally called the owner who addressed my issues to my satisfaction. The only remaining issue is that I no longer have a buried TV/Internet cable. I will have to pull several bricks and possibly a piece of flagstone to rebury the cable.

It went smoothly in spite of the weather. However, I cannot say enough good things about Joe. He was on top of the job from the very beginning. He had patience and was very thorough. We discussed a number of ideas and finally decided on a plan that satisfied our requirements. The drawings for the deck was complete and we are very pleased with the results.

After contacting The Deck and Fence Company, we were contacted almost immediately by Joe. He scheduled an appointment and came to our home to discuss what our options were as far as size, materials and pricing. Joe was super thorough and extremely friendly. It felt like we had a friend in our home. After deciding the type of deck we wanted Joe and The Deck and Fence Company promptly gave us a mock drawing of the deck with pictures and explanations of the type of materials we had selected. They also took care of obtaining any permits that were needed. We had a slight delay because of HOA approval. However, once approved they were able to start the build immediately. And I don't know if you'll believe me, but I swear these were the quietest construction workers I've ever experienced! I work from home a few days a week and I had to look out my window often to see if they were still there! LOL The workers were friendly, punctual and they did a fabulous job. The work was completed in a timely manner and we are the envy of all of our neighbors! I definitely recommend The Deck and Fence Company for your deck needs. I know we'll be using them whenever we need a deck again and we will definitely be referring all of our friends and neighbors.

This company was a pleasure to deal with and they did fantastic work. Joe sat down with me and showed me my options, and was knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. The deck looks great and they did the work quickly and on schedule with very little impact to me during the construction. They also did a great job of cleaning up after themselves at the end of the job. I had some issues getting the newer materials through my HOA and Joe was always responsive and patient in the process. The deck is exactly what I was hoping for and everything was done with attention to detail. I would definitely use them again (but I hope I won't have to replace this one for a long time!)

The crew came in and broke up an existing cement patio, putting in the necessary footers. Construction of the deck proceeded and the work performed using the maintenance free materials that were now available (much better than treated wood). The fit and finish of the completed deck was outstanding. The crew did a great job removing excess materials and cleaning up after themselsves. We also had some pavers installed along side the patio leading to the hose outlet giving us space to use when working in our gardens. Needless to say, we love the new deck. We use the deck far more than the patio originally constructed with the house. The design worked out great allowing us to be able to entertain far better than we were able to do with the patio.

They deck went well. The patio messed up my yard a little bit. They did come and fix it.

Contacted through the service and received call back same day. Estimate scheduled and they arrived on time and answered all questions that I had. Estmate received promptly. Very professional and courteous. Project ended up being more that we wanted to spend, however that is no fault of the company. Pricing was in line with competitors.

After contacting the company through Angie's list, Brad called me and set up a time to come out and give an estimate. He was prompt and provided through information about how they would complete the job. He gave me quick prices for different options and let me know that I only had a few days of a sale left to make a decision before the prices would increase. He was honest and informative about the different material options and I never felt pressured to go with the more expensive options. With the sale they had the lowest quote out of three total that I received so I decided to go with them. Brad came back immediately and completed the paperwork, reviewed the contract with me, and took the deposit. He took care of everything I needed to submit to my HOA to get approval and get the required permit. Brad was easy to get a hold of and was quick to respond, both by phone and by email. Once I had HOA approval, scheduling went faster than I expected. Brad informed me that the project would begin the week of April 6th. I got a call from someone else saying that materials would be delivered a week ahead of that and I then found out the day before that they would be starting the work the next day instead of the original date. I had planned holiday travel based on the original start date, so was a bit uncomfortable that they would be there sooner doing work when I would not be present. I did not have much contact with the guys actually completing the work, but they all introduced themselves when I saw them. The deck was completed within the original time frame they said it would. I am not overly thrilled with the quality of the work. The railings of the deck are not very sturdy, which is concerning on a 2nd story deck. One of the three sides was particularly wobbly and I asked for them to fix it. It was tightened somewhat, but still remains shaky. They left large messy mounds of dirt around each of the footings that they dug, something I haven't seen on any of the other decks built around mine since I have moved in. I also had to clean up lots of cigarette butts around my yard from when they were there working. I had Brad come and check the issues I had with the deck and his response to my quality issues was that the work was warrantied for 5 years, but did not offer make any improvements. Overall, the company was decent to work with, but because of the quality of the work for how much it cost, I probably wouldn't use them again.

I interviewed 3 companies that all had excellent reputations, but I selected the Deck & Fence company because it impressed me as the most professional and knowledgeable of the three. We worked with Brad to work out the details and some design issues. Brad is easy to work with and is able to be contacted quickly either by phone or email to discuss any concerns that arise. We originally wanted decking material for the hand rails. Brad called in Jim, the construction manager, and it was determined that using the deck material for the hand rail would not result in the look we wanted, so we changed to the regular handrail. They put a great deal of thought into the project before starting the work. If they had not caught the problem with the handrail before starting the project, we would have been disappointed in the look we desired. The workmen were excellent. They showed up each day on time and didn't stop until nightfall. They were polite, cleaned up before they left each day, and I couldn't believe how fast they worked. The work was completed in less than 2 weeks, including some days they couldn't come because of weather. The workmanship was excellent and we now have a beautiful new deck and balcony. When the job was completed, one thing bothered me, however. I was disappointed that I had decided on one 18" step going from the lower deck to the higher one. It seemed too high and I mentioned it to Brad. He asked what I wanted and told him I thought 2 shorter steps with a step light would be easier to go up and would be more attractive as well. He said they would come back and put the second step in for no additional charge. I was absolutely blown away by this offer! Because of the holidays and bad weather, they couldn't put the step in until late January, which was fine. They have just finished installing the step and I am extremely pleased with how everything looks. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again in the future

Services provided as agreed in contract. However, company to not inform me that excess dirt from installing fence would not be removed from my property. Other than that, overall product and service was good.

We spent a couple of sessions with Joe to come up with the ultimate design for the deck. We considered a couple of options, including a combo project, which would have been a smaller deck with a patio. After discussing with Joe and having a few designs sketched out, we decided to just go with the larger deck and we are happy with the results. We ended up getting quotes from three other vendors, but felt the best with The Deck and Fence Company. They were always there to answer questions and provided feedback. They provided very good documentation to submit to the HOA and we were able to obtain approval very quickly. Very satisfied.
