The service was good overall. At first, the water seemed to taste and feel a bit strange, but after some time, everything seemed to be okay. They were good with getting back to us and they didn’t disturb us that much while they were doing the work. They did a good job and we’ve been happy with the work!

I had toyed with the idea of having PV panels installed to use the sun to reduce my utility bills but the price of the panels didn't justify the minimal cost savings at the time (about 4 years ago). I then learned that solar water heaters were much more cost effective than PV panels and so I talked to SES regarding the installation of a solar water heater. A couple weeks after SES visited my house I received an email from SES indicating that grants for solar water heaters were about to be limited and I signed the contract by the end of August 2009, just before the deadline. Solar Energy Services came out for the installation on Oct 5th. They had to install the panels on the roof, replace my old gas boiler in the basement with a new electric boiler, install the cables for the electric backup and install the pipes from the basement to the roof. The two people that came out for the installation did an excellent job and they were done after two days (we were without warm water only for a few hours of the first day). Since the installation I had to call SES once in order to fix a very tiny leak and they came by right away to fix the problem. I also had to call/email them one other time (a year after the installation) and they were able to help me right away. The people were always very helpful and they truly care about the work they do. When I installed the water heater I was lucky because with the available grants and tax credits available at the time my cost for the water heater was reduced to about 1/3rd of the $9000. I am using the system for 3 years now and I will have recovered the cost for the solar water heater sometime next year. My water is being heated almost entirely by the sun from around mid-March until end-October with the electric backup system being used only when it's raining for several days in a row and only a few times a year. Overall, having a solar water heater installed was one of my best financial investments and Solar Energy Services helped me doing this from start to finish. I would use SES again for another solar project and I have recommended the company to several of my friends and neighbors since I had my system installed. P.S.: I gave a B-rating for price only because solar water heaters are so much more expensive than a standard gas boiler.

The service was good overall. They did a fine job and they quickly repaired a couple of minor problems that I had. There were no surprises with the cost.

The service was very good overall. Last year, I had a leak, and even though the warranty was barely expired, they repaired it at no charge. I’ve already recommended this company to a few others!

Representative was prompt, professional and provided a thorough estimate without trying to oversell the products. The company appeared to have solid credentials and was NOT one of the "jump on the latest craze or bandwagon" companies that have only recently been selling (or worse, renting) solar systems in an attempt to cash in on homeowners and the government incentives for solar. in the final analysis, from among 8 estimates received, we weighted SES our 2nd choice for the job. Strongly recommend anyone looking to purchase a solar PV or water heating system talk to this company. Straight talk, no glib sale pitch.
