Hired this company because I was having a kitchen remodel done and Ikea used them as the provider of choice. Ikea apparently no longer does business with them. The cabinets they put in had to be redone due to many holes they put in the back in the attempt to have the illegal electrical work pass through. The vent for the stove was put in so that my cabinet door couldn't open, the electrical work had to all be redone since none of it was up to code and almost all the cabinets had to be rebuilt due to the holes, being put in unevenly (which would cause my expensive countertop to likely fracture.) They never hauled away the old kitchen cabinets, which sat on my back deck like an episode of "Hoarders." Honestly, I could go on for tens of thousands of words as to how horrible they are. Filed complaint with BBB who also could never get phone calls or emails answered. I'm having a great contractor do the work now. BTW, Osprey Bay was listed as licensed contractors and didn't have anything listed against them with BBB.

This was a waste of time and money. I had a much better experience with Lowe's and got my kitchen designs for FREE! Original consultation and measurements not reflected in plan provided to me. The plan provided did not allow for heat ducts or size of kitchen. Never received estimated cost for job completion by contractor. They were very nice and professional during the various emails and phone calls, but no satisfactory results. I would not hire them to complete the kitchen.

They developed an estimate/contract. On version 1 we had seven typed pages of questions and comments. After meeting with our designer again, they provided version 2 of the estimate/contract. The addressed some of our concerns, but changed things that had been ok - the price increased about $4,500. It was like we were being punished for reviewing the estimate/contract. I contacted our planner about the prob;ems with version 2. Said she would call - never did. We drove to the OB office in Millersville - saw first hand how screwed up they are. Met with one of the managers - what a waste of time. We screwed up and signed a contract. How stupid could I be! At least we are within the 3 business days so we can cancel it - which we are going to do first thing in the morning. I am going to hand deliver it and get a signed receipt for it. I should have listened to my gut and tore it up and walked out of the guys office. Check out IKEAFANS - a whole bunch of people have had problems with them. Just returned from cancelling the contract. Walked in to the OB office and asked if anyone was available to sigh for a document. They asked if I was a Process Server!! I would assume from that that they are accustom to legal problems - you can make up your mind. Me, I am glad we will not have any more problems with them and only lost the $499.
Description of Work: I need to clarify - OB took our measurements and developed a drawing using the drawing that I developed using the IKEA home planner. Their plan was about 98% my drawing.

We got in just under the wire for the services but Ikea warned me that they had been suspended from additional contracts. Ikea said be careful. Good thing because I was about to put all my $$$ in their installation. Nice representative, spent a lot of time with me initially but never got back to me on reporting if we could go ahead with the contract/ installation. Glad I looked at Angie's list reviews and found out the truth!

Overall this experience was completely exhausting. I learned that I could be my own project manager and that in the long run it is much better to hire specialty people to do each job. Osprey Bay is overpriced and has very poor mangagement. The CEO of the company is not customer friendly in the least bit and apparently from what I have experienced through the barrage of employees that have left the company in the last 6 months as well from what I have read on the forums at ikeafans, is not a pleasant person to work for. All in all, I like my IKEA products, but wish that I would not have thought that since IKEA endorsed Osprey Bay that they were the company to go with. Trust me you do not want to spend your hard earned money or your time dealing with Osprey Bay. I have lost many $$$$, learn from my experience!!!
Description of Work: Started looking at IKEA kitchens in October of 2011. While at IKEA it was noted that for a fee of $199 that a company by the name of Osprey Bay would come out and measure and design the kitchen. I put down the money and they called promply and set up the appointment. The day of the appointment they sent a gentleman by the name of Scott Keates to my house and he noted that he was not a designer, but the designer had a family issue and that he could do the measurements. He did the measurements and a few days later I received a bad sketch from a designer that looked exactly like my existing kitchen. Right then I should have run.....but, I thought that since IKEA was endorsing them that there must be something to this company. I called the designer whose name was Steve Farless and asked him if he was serious about wanting to do my kitchen and that if he was that they would have to do a better design. He asked to come out and he did and he came up with a design that I liked. Getting the pricing out of Osprey Bay was a nightmare. They priced in packages and confusingly wrote the contract so that even the project managers (of which we had the pleasure of having 3 all for only a brief period of time in the 6 months that we worked with the company) had difficulty following what was going on. They priced out 3 packages of which appeared to be very expensive. This was confirmed when I asked for them to add in ripping my carpet out of my 400 sq ft family room and they said that it would be $1000. I was highly concerned about this price and took off the entire last package which included installing some tile flooring and lighting in my kitchen and was ridiculously expensive. i was attempting to get a turn key experience out of Osprey Bay and it turned out to be my biggest nightmare. I was the project manager for the entire process and I feel lucky that I am so incessant about calling often, emailing and texting or I would be in the same boat as many others right now and not have my kitchen finished. During the process, as I said before I had 3 project managers, me being the 4th, and i had the pleasure of meeting 3 installers. The first was in my house for 2 days doing the demo and he did not show up one day, so they sent another. The second put in the cabinets...hired his own man to put them together...but when I noted that I thought that the cabinets were two low, he said that he was finishing anyway because that is what the designer had written on the plans. He noted that he was almost done and there was not way that he was going to do it over; he said that in his mind the job was complete. Many calls were made and no one listened to me. I pulled out my Kuerig coffee pot and guess what it would not open. I wrote quite the barrage of emails and they agreed to send another team of guys to come out and fix it. So two more guys came in and raised my cabinets. In the mean time I kept telling the company that 14 of the 21 items under the second package were already in place in my kitchen (it was mostly electrical and plumbing stuff that we realized did not need to be done secondary to the hoand that I wanted a refund for what was not done. Now keep in mind that IKEA mandated the cost for putting in the cabinets so Osprey Bay made up for the fair pricing of this part of the contract and gouged the consumer for what they could elsewhere in the contract. I have worked for dilligently for 3 months with the customer service rep, who was hired so people would stop calling Scott Keates, trying to get the money that was owed to me from Osprey Bay. The owner of the company would not answer my calls (his voice mail box was usually full), he never answered his emails and he miraculously never had an appointment available. I went to the office in Millersville to get a lock box taken off of my door handle which had been there for 2 months and no one knew the combination....had to take my door handle off and up to the office....while there I saw Lee Rose's (owner) office door open. I asked if Lee was in and the secretary said yes. I asked to meet with him and after he called all of his staff into his office, including the secretary, I was told no he will not meet with me. I said I would wait until he came out of his office and proceeded to stand at the reception desk for about an hour. I told the secretary to go back in and tell him I was not leaving and if I did leave I was coming back with my husband. Miraculously Lee Rose emerged from his office. At first he was very abrupt, but seemed to calm himself down and made a huge ordeal of acting like he had never heard of me or my complaints. His customer service rep, Dee Dee, who I talked to regularly for 10 weeks had told me that she met with him several times a week to discuss my refund...I believe her. He went over the entire contract with me and said he was incredulous that no one had taken care of my refund prior to this....lies!!! He then said that he would have to speak with Alex (another manager) to figure out what was not done and get me a price on my refund. All of this had been done numerous times. EXHAUSTING!!!! He promised to call me back the next day. No calls the next day. I sent an email....he had the customer service rep call and say he would get to me in the next few days No calls for a week, so my husband sent an email saying we would have to take other action to get our money if he did not respond to us by close of business Friday. My husband got a call from the customer service rep on Saturday at lunch time saying that THE CHECK WOULD BE IN THE MAIL ON MONDAY. I called back immediately and told them not to put the check in the mail, but that I would be in on Monday at 4 to pick up the check personally. Monday at 2:30 p.m. I got a call from the secretary saying that they had accidentally put the check in the mail. This was mid August, it is now mid September and I have no check. They owe me thousands of dollars.

Do not under any circumstances use or recommend this retched "contractor". I am sorry that I ever paid them a penny. Here is my timeline and the letter I sent to Osprey Bay over 3 weeks ago and have yet to receive a response: · On March 12th I paid $49 to schedule someone from Osprey Bay to come out to view my condo, take measurements and begin the process towards renovating my kitchen · On March 15th I met with Melinda Woodruff who measured my kitchen and agreed to make a design. I paid $150 for the design at the request of Melinda · On April 10th, Melinda informs me that she is no longer working for Osprey Bay · On April 30th, I have email correspondence with Melinda discussing that I haven’t heard from anyone from Osprey Bay in a long time. I left multiple messages including one to Lee Rose, the CEO, and received no calls back · After numerous attempts to contact Osprey Bay, I finally was able to reach someone. On May 7th, I receive an estimate from Rebekah Witherite from Osprey Bay who has reassigned my design to Katie Valeri · I ask John King to call me on May 7th with questions about the contract but hear no response. · On May 29th, I receive a revised contract · On June 5th, I sign the revised contract with the expectation from both Kaite and myself that work will start within a month. She explains that a project manager will be in contact with within a couple of weeks. · On June 19th I am informed that my contract was approved · On July 9th after numerous attempts to find out who my project manager is, I receive a voicemail from Chris Hoover who explains he is my project manager. · I schedule to meet with Chris on July 16th at 8AM at his convenience · On July 16th Chris does not show up to his appointment · On July 16th around noon I receive a call from Chris saying that he misscheduled our appointment and that we would need to reschedule. We reschedule for July 18th. · I meet with Chris on July 18th who reviews the plans and says that he is ready to get moving on the project. He explains that he will get me estimates on the floors very shortly. · After not hearing from Chris for two weeks I call him on August 2nd at 1pm to find out about my requests. I leave a voicemail. I do not receive a call back. · On August 6th at 9am I call Chris again, do not reach him, and again leave a voicemail. · On August 6th I call Osprey Bay and ask to speak with Lee Rose (CEO of Osprey Bay). His voicemail is full so I am unable to reach him or leave him a message. · On August 6th, tired and exhausted by the whole experience I ask to speak with someone about being issued a refund. I speak with Beth who asks me to write a letter and fax up the cancellation request. She informs me that I will be receiving 25% less on refund because I am cancelling the contract. Given the experience I have had I ask for a full refund. She informs me to write a letter and she will see what she can do.

Room Plan and proposal was completed well, with the designer working with us on some cabinet layout modification and customization of the standard cabinets. The cabinetry was purchased from IKEA, for which Osprey is the recommended installer by IKEA. Installation had a slightly bumpy start, but when this was brought to the manager's attention, he was highly attentive, and in addition to having his staff be diligent (which they entirely were), he also personally came by several times to ensure we were happy with the project's progress; which we were. After that initial start, everything went exactly as they had promised, and the quality of the work was very high. The resulting kitchen is very attractive and functional. We have already recommended Osprey (and IKEA) to several friends who have come by and have been very impressed with the new kitchen.

Hired this company on April 15 the install kitchen cabinets. By July 1st I still had the cabinets in the basement and I was still getting excuses as to why they didn't show up. Everyone I spoke with there blamed each other for delays and incompetence. I have since cancelled and found a new contractor, but now I am trying to get my deposit back. They wouldn't even give me a quote without giving them a deposit. Then money to start, and I never see them again. This company is awful. IKEA has been calling and emailing on my behalf throughout and are now getting more aggressive in their dealings with Osprey. I think IKEA has gone above and beyond and they are not the problem. It is all Osprey.
Description of Work: Bought cabinets from IKEA and they recommended Osprey to install. That said, IKEA has been excellent through this process and would still recommend using them. IKEA was great, Osprey not at all.

This is the kithcen installer used by our IKEA store in Philadelphia. While the independent deisgner/sales rep. was professional and helpful, it took nearly 4 WEEKS to get just a partial estimate for installing our kitchen. When I asked the rep. why we only got a partial estimate she said that the company requires that a potential customer approve the partial before the company will submit a full estimate for other work requested such as removing a wall, adjusting a ceiling, etc. The rep. seemed nearly as frustrated with Osprey Bay as we were and when I went to IKEA to order our cabinets and countertop, I ran into another couple who had an almost identical experience with the Osprey Bay estimating process. In the end, I bought the IKEA items but went with a local contractor who was recommended by a trusted friend. Fast-forward 2 MONTHS and I received a call from Osprey Bay asking if I was still interested in pursuing the estimate they had provided. I explained that they had seriously dropped the ball on this one and that they should word to improve their process to avoid alienating more potential customers.

see above......................NOT GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: paid IKEA to send out this guy to look at my kitchen planner.....missed 1st apt.He showed 3/16/2012. When he did show he was there for 1.5 to 2.0 hrs. He was sharp....showed me what was right and wrong w/my plan. IKEA's cabinets were different sizes then mine......he was able to work around this.......he said for 199.00 paid NOW he could write me an est on the spot...........and the 199.00 would be used towards his labor #.......so he goes to work........leaves me a written est for $ 2,143.10.................then says for 799.00 more he will personally over see everything..........shouldn't they oversee all jobs any way ? STUPID !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its called TPM total project management.....they are on site for deliveries and check them for MISTAKES.....and they let you know about them......then they jump into action and reorder the right stuff..............................later you will see that they are correcting THERE OWN MISTAKES..............WHY IN THE F____ SHOULD A CUSTOMER PAY THIS IDIOT 199.00 TO DRAW UP EVERYTHING....(WRONG)........THEN PAY HIM AGAIN TO FIX SH_T HE f___ UP IN THE FIRST PLACE.......SO he pushes me to sign a contract NOW NOW NOW............I said I need to review the final parts list which he said I would have in 2 days max............well after emails and phone calls he sends me every thing on 4/4/2012....thats 19 days later.......I had about given up ! EST was now $ 3,820.00..............thats 1,676.90 HIGHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IF I HAD SIGNED UP >>>>BET THAT WOULD BE A MESS...................so the est now has that F____ing TPM in again....which I TOLD him I did not WANT IN the first place...............so subtract 799.00 and now we have 877.90 for what I don't know...............I should NOT have to chase this joker down to tell me.....................should have been in ....NOT ONLY the second est...but the first one too.....guess thats why 19 days past.....he thinks people wont remember what was said and written on the BIG appt. SO I go to IKEA and they could CARE LESS................asked for some refund for wasting all this time......they look at you like you like you have three heads !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At any rate I shell out 2,985.00 including tax...............they found a few things the great ISRAEL MONSANTO missed. LITTLE did I know that 3 of the 12 cabinets were wrong sizes.................and the number labeling on the drawing was maybe 50% right..................so he wrote up 25% of the cabinets wrong............thats right !!!!! I FORGOT ...........IF I PAY HIM AGAIN .....799.00.........ON TOP OF THE 199.00........HE HAS A SECOND CHANCE TO DO IT RIGHT.....................WHO IN the F____K DOES THAT BS ????????????????? OSPREY BAY DOES and IKEA could CARE LESS ! BEST PART IS I NOTICED I don't HAVE any knobs/handles for any thing...........I called IKEA and they said ....right there extra.....NO ONE ever pointed that one out..............That would be like having a new car delivered and you cant get in the thing !!!!!!!!!! NICE WORK.....................DON'T EVER let this S__T happen to U.....IKEA NEEDS TO 86 OSPREY CREEPS ....I mean BAY....and every one in the KIT. DEPT !!!

Quality of installation was excellent. Took to long to get paperwork straight.Had misunderstandings in starting work schedule. Cabinet installers were good, When we ran into a minor design problem (not their fault) we worked out a great solution at no additional cost except a run to IKEA to exchange cabinets. The plumber was good, competent and honest, The electrician made 3 trips to the house including a planning trip. On the second and third trips electrician did nothave proper list of work to be done; on the last trip he had no record of needing to put in electric outlet for the microwave. I did the job myself! The subcontractor for the counter top Norwood Marble was excellent, punctual and did a great job.

The design process was fantastic. We were able to iterate many times with their designer to get just what we wanted on paper. The demolition went very well, and they took great care to limit the dust with their methods. The team was well managed and staged. We knew the schedule up front, and they managed to keep up with the schedule with very few exceptions (e.g., the illness of a family member). Overall the work was of very high quality, and the team was always responsive to any issues that arose in the process (as is always expected when remodeling an older home). In general, when anything required some extra thought and care, they went above and beyond expectations. We love our kitchen, and we are very happy with Osprey Bay's effort on our behalf.

Our initial experience with the estimate and measurement consultation was positive. However, that was the only positive thing about the entire experience. From the start of demolition through the completion of the project the company personnel lacked professionalism and did not respond to concerns in a timely manner (if at all). Some of the issues we had included: Did not provide a work schedule Did not show up on most days to perform work Project manager was absent and difficult to contact Tile flooring was installed incorrectly and had to be removed and re-installed (at additional cost) Incorrectly installed cabinetry Could not match wood flooring pieces at room transitions Broke existing flooring pieces that could not be re-installed Caused damage to existing microwave Was not present during creation of the counter template (as listed in the contract) Installed incorrectly sized cabinet (had to remove completely) - Never reimbursed as promised for the cabinet Project went several months as opposed to several weeks as listed in the contract Additionally, because the project went so long beyond the contracted finish date, Osprey Bay agreed to compensate us for the amount of food spent eating out during the time we were without a kitchen. In the end, the company offered to pay approximately 1/3 the amount of actual expenses. The company took several more weeks to finally make the payment to reimburse us. Overall, I would suggest anyone looking to contract Osprey Bay to avoid them completely. This company should not be in business.
Description of Work: My wife and I were extremely disappointed with Osprey Bay. We contracted Osprey Bay to complete a kitchen remodel. This included demolition of existing cabinetry, flooring, and removal of old appliances. Osprey Bay was contracted to install new cabinets, tile flooring, sink, garbage disposal, dish washer, and countertop.

DO NOT HIRE OSPREY BAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Working with Osprey Bay was one of the worst, most traumatic experiences I have ever had, and a huge waste of time and money. I hired them for a remodel of my condo, and they performed horrible work, took approximately 10 times the contractual time period, were negligent and careless, repeatedly bullied and harrassed me, sending men to my house at 8:00 am unannounced, demanded early payment of work not completed, and threatened to put a lien on my home if I did not comply. I found out later that they literally hired illegal workers from SEVEN ELEVEN, who had no idea how to do the job, and went around the building begging for help. Their workers repeatedly complained to me and my neighbors that they werent being paid. During the 6 months they refused to answer my calls and repeatedly abandoned the job, sending an occasional angry worker by. They did things like leave my house wide open for days, trash the interior of the building, leave an open pipe running water on the raw baseboards for days. I made them redo several things, up to four times and it still looks horrible. Now, less than a year later all their work is falling off the walls cracking and falling apart. They only reason I havent sued is that I am so traumatized by the gruelling experience that I think I might actually have a nervous breakdown if I tried. The money I spent was cash down the toilet, and I will have to do the whole job again. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: They very poorly performed a remodel of my home including one kitchen, and two bathrooms.
