Mr. Handyman of Anne Arundel and PG County

No show for my scheduled appointment so had to wait until the following week. Was never given a final quote before the work was done since I was told anything except a total rebuild would not be warranted. They took my drawer face to the office and I was told I’d get a call with the quote on the rebuild which I was not. The next communication was telling me when they would come install the drawer.. so I was stuck with the work and price. 395 for a single drawer repair seems excessive. I was charged a trip fee for 100, minimum one hour for 168, then material for 119. If they would have shown up or at least called saying they were unable to come I might not be leaving this review. using them but this is unacceptable and unprofessional. And the sticker shock .. They re-used my drawer face and just used a box but I’m not handy enough to attach the face to the box unfortunately. I will be looking for another handyman.

Jim arrived on time and got to work immediately. He was very friendly and professional. He had to drill holes into the tile in both of my bathrooms to install the grab bars. The master bathroom didn’t have studs that he could use, so he had to use anchors. This meant drilling additional holes and it took more time than usual. He left the bathrooms neat and clean. I also had him caulk the bathtub in the guest bathroom. He did a great job overall! I just wish that it wasn’t as expensive as it was. That’s why I gave the price a “B” rating.

I am happy with the work but it took at least 2.5 hours longer than expected so the price was more than I had expected. The technician was very friendly and professional and the end result was quality. The one downside is I feel it took too long to do the 3 projects I had gotten the quotes for. But overall I am happy and I would probably use this service again.

The young lady had to ask someone about the fence in which she said yes they can do that. She then stated that they quoted based on a per hour rate with material and supplies extra. Based on the limited information I just gave her, she said about 4 hours with materials and supplies extra. I said that 4 hours may NOT be enough to do the fence, let alone the entire job. I asked that would it be better to look at what the job entails and give me an estimate based on that. She said she could send somebody to the house to estimate the job for a $75 fee. I was amazed the have this policy....ARE YOU FOR REAL..........To pay you to ESTIMATE a job that you may not even get is LUDICROUS...........I said thanks, but, NO THANKS.........poor way to do business............ Response to service provider retort of review 5/8/19 Review Text: In response to the service providers retort of my review, on 5/8/19. It's funny that the 3 other estimates I received where from those who were going to do the work,,,NOT SALESMAN. Family oriented businesses that the owners still do their own work.....THAT'S A PROFESSIONAL. Your 4 hour quote would have been grossly underbid, hence, paying much more to complete the job. Gee, sounds a little like a "bait and switch".

Jose did a great job. I was nervous being out of town when work was completed, but they were professional and prompt. I will hire again.

The work was done very well, but of course more nail pops were found in the course of fixing the ones I originally identified. This caused the effort to exceed 4 hours and it became a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. The cleanup was very good as well. I would hire this company again.

The technician spent ten minutes assessing the door and one hour and half hour supposedly at Lowe's and Home Depot looking for a latch. After returning the technician stated that it would have to be a special order part and it would take three weeks. Hence, this put the technician at two hours of labor with nothing done. I asked the technician could I just pay to have the estimation of the basement done and that would be great. He denied my request and wanted to charge me for two hours of labor. I agreed with the technician just to get him out of my home because I felt threaten by his demeanor. I was able to order the replacement latch and install it myself with in twenty minutes. The cost that the technician stated was inflated for the latch- it was only $25 and shipped within two from the manufacture. I will NEVER use Mr. Handyman again and asking that Angie List remove this vendor from listing. Should you need a better explanation please feel free to contact me in regards to this business.

Jeff fixed the problem. They came out just a couple of hours after I called. Service was great. My only complaint is I was charged $168.00 for 1/2 hour. But that is their price. You pay $168.00 for the first hour minimum no matrer how long it takes. Their responsiveness was the Best. Great work too but price is high. However they let your know up front what you are going to have to pay.

The gentleman showed up on time, and admitted that he had never worked with the dog door kit I had, to be installed in a sliding glass door. I admit that I was told, up front of their service charge for coming out. However, they were the only professionals that were willing to come out. As for the door the service man, he was the one that discovered the door was damaged, it has been returned. As for the dog door being installed, that has been ‘tabled’ now. Now, granted, I was informed ahead of time of all the expenses from the company, and I agreed to it. As to their work, I can not comment because they did not do any, their work may be excellent. The service man that came out was able to get me a deduction for any future work. As for me, this has been an expensive lesson, that has been learned.

The tile person did not have the correct tools to do the job (for cutting glass tile), so the edges were all chipped and jagged. Mr. Handyman reached out to me to correct the problem by installing a corner piece that covered the edges. When they showed up to install it, it was the wrong color. When I said to install it anyways, the technician cut it to the wrong length twice, and did not have a third piece to try again. I will be finishing the job myself because I have lost all confidence in Mr. Handyman. The drywall patches were done very well, but the just covered the nsil pops without sinking screws to stop it from recurring. Three days later the nail pops were back and I will have to fix thus myself as well. The painting was average quality.

Went very well. All of the ones that I had tagged for replacement were replaced quickly. The rep found several more that that I had missed, which was good.

Excellent. The work was done to my satisfaction. The handyman showed up on time (actually early, which was great for me). All work was done professionally, expertly, and quickly. He even cleaned everything up afterward (not every contractor does that). I do have some futrue projects that are beyond my ability and I was planning to call them back to do this work.

The quality of the work was excellent.

Went well. Service man was on time, and performed all of the work very well. He found a couple of other issues which he immediately fixed as well.

These guys went above and beyond anything I expected, working with a very difficult buyer and Mr. Handyman was exceptional!

This is the worst service I've ever received from a contractor. On Oct. 1st, Mark was the individual who met with my friend at my property to assess the damages and provide an estimate on handyman work. I am located in Germany, but rent the property out. So, I'm coordinating everything from thousands of miles away. Mark met my friend; he was on-time and friendly. I talked with him over the phone, he seemed as though he was sort of rushing, but I still persisted to ask my questions. He asked for my credit card number (which he made time for that), I gave it to him so he could provide me the estimate. That estimate is $168, which is ALOT, but I figured the company received good reviews, so maybe I can put this money toward the actual work in my property. Then, there were issues with my credit card; it was deactivated due to fraudulent activity. I immediately called his office back the next day and gave them an updated card. Mark sent me the invoice that day (Oct. 2nd). I did not hear from him that next day. I called on Oct. 4th, and asked him where's the estimate? I paid $168 and still no estimate. Him, myself, and my husband talked through the repairs and told him what we would want the company to fix. He said "good, and he would send the estimate tomorrow morning". It is Saturday morning and no estimate. So, I've paid $168 for a product that I've paid for 4 days ago and still haven't gotten anything. If I can't rely on this company to provide me with an estimate, there's no way I will trust them in my property. I would like my $168 back, and I will not be hiring this company for any work. If I do not receive my money back, I will report this company to the Better Business Bureau.

Not the greatest results - I have used this company before and been very pleased. They were pricey, but the quality of the work was worth it. This was not the case this last time. The technician cracked the door jamb in two places while replacing the door, left paint splatters on the floor and on the side of the door which was not supposed to be painted and messed up the handset on the door. He did repair most of these issues (the paint splatters I cleaned up myself with paint thinner), but since he worked by the hour I ended up paying for that too.

Eric was prompt and on time and professional in every way! He answered all my questions and explained everything he was doing! He went out of his way to trouble shoot my storm door that didn't close properly and greatly improved the fit of the door in addition to taking the time to make sure the weather stripping was properly installed, and even installing extra weather stripping around the storm door as well. He also painted an exterior door inside and out, and secured second story vinyl siding that kept slipping loose. 10/10 will recommend Eric to anyone!

Very professional young man on time clean. Took 1 and 1/2 days to install sink. I waited two days to try it out when I turned on the hot water I quickly noticed a large puddle forming on the floor from the hot line. A high volume leak that showed it self quickly. I arranged for a warranty call for Monday at 10:00 tp 12:0. No show no call. At this point after contacting them all I know is he is late. $1624. And Three days for a sink that leaks like a sieve.angies list price high) for a sink install $750.00 Add drywall 6/3 feet $1624. Plus the tip ( I know he has a family)

The painter arrived on time. I provided the paint; he provided the brush and covering for the front sidewalk and back cement area next to the door. There is cement between the porch floor and the brick wall. He painted the cement but we had a disagreement about whether he left paint on the brick ; he said no and I said yes. There was an area of white paint on the brick; when I touched it with my finger there was paint on my finger. The area below the cement was not covered up during the painting process and now shows paint. The back door had not been painted in many years and had cracked paint. The painter scraped off the old paint on the door and around the door frame. The company provided a discount for being an Angie's List member. This company office was difficult to reach prior to coming for the paint job. I called the office but calls were not quickly returned. I was advised to buy a specific brand of paint but when I had additional questions no one from the office contacted me.

Bill did an excellent job. He was efficient, hard-working, and very polite. He completed the job under challenging conditions--it was in the 90s and very humid. We offered to let him complete his work another day, but he persisted and got the job done in one day. I would definitely hire him/this company again.

Very well. Ken was on time, knew what to purchase after looking at the job and talking to my husband, very experienced in doing the job and doing it very well. He finished in the window of time promised. And we are very pleased with his work and would use Mr. Handyman again!

Well. The work took longer than I expected but was also more complicated. The previous owners of the house had attached their very heavy microwave oven to the cabinets on either side without doing any reinforcing. So, when we had our new roof put on a little bit prior, apparently it knocked some things loose. The handyman had to first figure out what exactly happened and then was able to build things up so that the microwave and the cabinets were properly supported
